Suspected pair of lungs found on LA sidewalk

LOS ANGELES — Authorities are investigating what appear to be a pair of lungs found on a sidewalk in South Los Angeles.

A woman called to report finding what she believed to be the organs at 8:30 p.m. (11:30 p.m. ET) Sunday in the 13100 block of Avalon Boulevard.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene, and the coroner's office was also called.

Additional testing will determine if the remains are in fact lungs and whether they are human, police said.

Sgt. Robert Dean of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, told the Los Angeles Times: "We don't know what they are. It's really weird."

Ed Winter, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, told the newspaper the possible organs were not attached to a body, and he found the situation "a little strange." He said it was unclear when the examination would be performed.

A couple of months ago, two dog heads were found in a trash bin around that same area. Police are still looking for the suspects. Now, possible human lungs!! The police should be warning people in that area that there is a nutcase running around. Possible future serial killer in the making?

If these lungs are determined to be from a human, it wouldn't surprise me if the police cover-up that information and lie to the public so that they do not "frighten" everyone. Government agencies are great at concealing the truth, especially when they do not have a suspect or know where to begin to investigate.

Well, everyone should take a "breather" until they come back with more information. Oh, yeah. At least one individual will not be able to do that!

I guess that in L.A. you can literally "scream your lungs out" as many have claimed to have done at rock concerts elsewhere.

People should learn to put their lungs away when they are done with them.

Apparently things being a little strange in LA are really different than things being a little strange in my neck of the woods.

LMAO!!!! Only in California!! A set of lungs found on the street? The Coroner thought that was kinda strange! It's only kinda strange in Cali! Like, lungs have been left on the street before, not often but it's happened before.

Did the spokesman for the LA County Coroner's office REALLY SAY "It's a little strange"? Ah c'mon! It's LA. Stranger things have happened.

Ive never found any internal organs, but one time I went to the park down the street from my house, and found a classmate living in a storm drain down on the creek. At first he acted like it was no big deal and he made up some kind of b.s. excuse about it, but it turned cold one night, and I had this bad feeling, and I put on my coat and warm clothes and I went down to the park. Sure enough - he was in the storm drain, laying down in this sleeping bag. I said, "Brian, man, what are you doing? Come to my house." "No." "Yes, come on. You can't stay down here, man!" "No. I want to." "Brian - if you don't get your azz out of that storm drain right now, I'm telling my folks." "You better not." "Brian. Let me make you a sandwich, man. And you can take a shower at my house." "Can you, like, BRING me a sandwich?" "Brian, get out of that sleeping bag and come with me, and right. eff'n. NOW." He got up. I think that, secretly, he was glad that someone cared.

He stayed with my family for two years. Finally he told us what happened: He found out his step-father was sexually-abusing his little sister, and he tried to tell their mother about it. She threw him out. The little sister was scared, so she stayed quiet. The stepfather threatened him. So he left. But he was just a high-school kid, and he had nowhere to go. My parents were furious. My dad went over to Brian's house. It didn't go well. He came back, and said, "Well Brian, you just don't worry about it. You stay here if you want, but the rules are the same for you as if you were my kid, too." But Brian was a really nice kid and he didn't ever give my parents any trouble. In the middle of that two years, Brian's family moved away. Just moved. Didn't tell anyone where they were going, just left. Brian was devastated, as any kid would be. My parents spent a lot of time with Brian, I think they were scared it was going to really scar him and he was going try to hurt himself or something. He didn't. He was really upset for awhile, but after awhile he just sort of got into his own groove, got a job, and started getting back on track with his grades and his social life and stuff.

I knew it was going to be OK when I came home from school one day and Brian had brought this girl over. They were in the kitchen and he'd made them something to eat and they were laughing.

I still keep in touch with Brian. His life turned out OK and he married a nice girl and they have a little girl now.

But that's the worst thing I ever found - a kid that was thrown away by his own family.

Typical farm boy stunt. Get the lungs from a slaughtered pig or cow to throw on the street to gross out everyone.

If the lungs were lost in LA, better check for a heart in San Fransisco! LOL

What are the lungs suspected of? Did they do something wrong, is there a warrant out for them?

It was bound to happen sooner or later - someone coughed up a lung from all the smog in LA.
