Some cases just cry out for a speedy trial. This is one. No motions for continuance, no delays, no "We need more time to prepare" excuses. This is not a complicated case. From the video you can see the disparity of size and from news stories we know the disparity of age between Mr. Del Valle - 65 and the psuedo-human thug, Scott, 28-30.

The violence so callously meted out by this psuedo-human is so beyond any help a kumbaya "anger management class" might offer. Cases like this are not deserving of rehabilitation. From other sources I read that Scott was an ex-con with a number of arrests. Apparently he had already been given chances at "rehabilitating himself", and, as usual he simply progressed to committing the ultimate crime - taking the life of a decent, kind, productive man, destroying families in the process.

Swift justice and an immediate long-term, if not permanent, removal from society are called for.

Have you ever sat at the bedside of a person in a coma who MIGHT come out of it? Thank God my husband's coma was less than a day-- I watched him die. But I have worked as an aide in a hospital and also in a nursing home-- and was a volunteer at a veterans' hospital. Believe me, it isn't a very happy thing to see anyone in a coma.

It was the Virginia-Pilot that said its reporters Dave Forster and Marjon Rostami were attacked when they drove home from a show and stopped at a red light. Estimates were that 100 teens attacked, and on Twitter, a reference to the violence was accompanied by the words “do it for trayvon martin.”

I've read so many racist remarks in the commentary about this incident,so here's my opinion about the racial tensions in this country.

There is no doubt in my mind that if the races were reversed in this case the NAACP would be all over it, but the guilty man was black so we won't hear word one from them about racial tensions. maybe it was racial,maybe it wasn't, I just wish race would be left out of every case. I think any agency that advocates specifically for one race/gender/religion nowadays is in itself practicing racism/bigotry and encouraging racism/bigotry! The first step towards racial equality required the NAACP, the next step does not.

Until that stoner decides to take a drive and runs over someone or hits another car and kills someone that way...or does something at their job (assuming they remain coherent enough to hold one) that hurts someone....yeah, its completely "harmless" to get high---NOT!!! Drugs are not cool.

As for your concern about DUI-- releasing people who were arrested for drugs would not increase the percentage of DUI statistically speaking. People who want to drive high already do it. There are separate penalties that deal with that. Simple possession is not enough to state that they were DUI. A man arrested in his home for growing marijuana in his garage, for example, cannot be charged with DUI. That's an outrageous leap of logic.

I see it every day and I drive a two lane asphalt highway in very rural America.

Considering the killer's history of felony arrests over the past decade plus, how can anyone argue that having and using three time loser laws that put felons with multiple convictions behind bars for 25 years to life are not in the best interest of society? I would personally like to see the prison system in this country take a step back to the era of the chain gangs, prison farms and other forms of inmate labor. As long as they can sit on their bunks and read between meals and watching TV, what's their incentive to not commit more crimes when they get out? Make them get out of bed at 5 am, get dressed, and then drag their backsides out to the fields or into the shops to work 8 hours a day. No work, no privileges or at least extremely reduced privileges. Limit their access to outside people and eliminate any packages from outside the prison. No mail other than simple letters. No computer or phone access. Make them work for those privileges.

I'm perfectly content with the government designating an island as a penal colony and dumping all of them onto it. Provide them with the training to build their own homes and grow their own food and dump them off. Some of them will kill some of the others, but since they're all violent repeat offenders, exactly how great a loss would it be?

I remember, I was in my 20's, I seen an old man 70-80 trying to change his flat tire. It was in the middle of a cold midwest winter. I pulled over and changed the tire for this old man and my payment was the look in his eyes and the thaank you I got. I in my 40's now and I hope, should I live tell 70's, that someone would do the same for me. Well you all should know that, this monster is now behind bars on a $250,000 bail. According to info online he is housed at the Anna M. Kross Correctional Facility on Assault charges, so they haven't upgraded the charges to murder yet. He's shceduled to appear in court tomorrow.

That was years ago. (Just an aside, as a little girl I lived on that very spot. All structures have been gone for years.) Here I was all alone and several young Black thugs came up to me and started hassling me. None of them touched me, yet, and maybe they wouldn't have, but I couldn't know their intentions. I became quite frightened and I was hoping in the worse way the bus would come. An elderly Black man, who probably could not have beaten any one of the several youths came to my rescue. He spoke to them like their grandfather bawling them out for their misbehavior. They tucked their tails between their legs and slunk away. I thanked this gentleman profusely, but he dismissed it as something anyone would do.

You are so totally right. Insurance would have paid the whole thing, had he been parked legally. Since he was double parked, he probably realized that he would have to pay out of pocket. A senseless crime, leaving a family to grieve. I hope that they make a statement with this man. Life without the possibility of parole. Here in Michigan we are getting more and more people attacking bus drivers. We made the news a while back when a "mental midget" attacked a bus driver for no reason. She was saved only because some school kids on the bus stopped him. We need to make examples of these nitwits, and give them more than the maximum. I am a part-time bus driver, and it is a very dangerous job for numerous reasons; however, if I hit anything my company is responsible for the damage I do, and I am responsible to my company. It does not matter if they are parked correctly or not. Truthfully, I cannot think of any kind of accident that would not be considered my fault at least to a degree.

Most people, say 95%, wouldn't have punched the guy, even if they were mad. Another 3% or so might have flown off the handle, but wouldn't do harm if they really thought about it. Then you have your 2%ers who would happily punch out or even kill somebody if provoked enough. Doesn't sound like the punch was intended to kill, but that's what it did. If this guy has the rap sheet others are talking about then he needs to go away for a long, long time. If for no other reason than to protect society from him. We spend too much time and money locking up people who screw up and end up letting parasites go free because they haven't been caught committing our pet crime of the week... yet.
