I am simply pointing out the disparity concerning the outrage by certain people when the story is black on black crime or white on black crime and huge disparity when black on white crime (hardly even reported). I could ask you what does race have to do with the Zimmerman/Martin case other than the color of their skin? I know for a fact there was way more outrage and a lot less clarity on whether it was actual murder like in this case where it is obviously a murder and not self-defense.

Out of curiosity, do some black people not realize that if you only get angry when a white person kills a black person and could care less when a black person kills a black person you are racist?

If you weren't racist you would understand that people usually kill people that they know, which is why black people kill more blacks than whites and also the reason more whites are killed by whites. The racist will always point out that more blacks are killing blacks than whites but never mention white on white crime. Slavery in Africa and Europe dates back several thousand years most likely more than 5000. The reason that black owned slaves by whites is note worthy is because many of the slaves were fathered by white slave owners so much so that virtually all black slaves are or (were ) the desendents of the master. In black owned or same race owned slaves eventually the slaves became integrated into the group. Kind of like the way black Americans have been integrated except after a generation or two unless you know the history of that slave they could be fully integrated into the mainstream society. So when one of you racist tells a black person to go back to Africa you are not considering that the slave had just as much European ancestry as African ancestry. Appearance in America is what defines you. Take the president for example although he is as black as he is white no one ever refers to him as biracial he is always called the first black president

And lots of places on the continent of Africa have been built up, and built around slavery...lots of oil production happening there currently, and where do you think the vast majority of diamonds come from? I think the point was no where in the story does it talk about race BECAUSE it is either black on white or black on black crime. Meaning race only seems to be relevant when it is white on black crime and not the otherway around.

Since I don't know much about this incident other then what the story has told me I couldn't say if his point is valid or not. If a black guy killed a white female officer it doesn't mean he did it because she was white, but the same could be said in the Zimmerman case, no one really knows what was in Zimmermans head but everyone seems to have decided they know based on assumptions and skin color. The same could be done in this case if we wanted to, presume something before we get any facts or evidence to back it up. I think that was the point trying to be made, but like I said, we know nothing about this story so trying to decide why race wasn't mentioned is irrelevant for now.

RACE - Officer Hollis 32 and from Detroit was shot in the head, the suspect is Rollin Oliver a 21 year old with no criminal history "in Colorado." Hollis was the president of the Black Police Officer's Association in Denver. It appears to be a BLACK on BLACK shooting. Hollis was reportedly trying to break up a fight . . . others were therefore involved and we expect more to surface shortly.

Being called a racist or calling someone else a racist has really lost most of its impact. The word or term is used so much and is thrown around so often at anyone who agrees or disagrees with a certain point of view it has really lost the stigma it once brought. I think the initial point is interesting if we find out the race of the man and officer and it is a black on white or black on black crime. Not a huge deal in my book, but interesting. If we find out it's a white guy who shot a female cop who was black and race wasn't mentioned I would find that interesting as well.

If Tigerlover is correct and it is a black on black crime it makes sense why race was not mentioned. Since race was obviously not a factor in the shooting it was not mentioned in the story.

@Ophotfoot-You need to go back and study your history, since it's obvious you've forgotten the Tulsa race riot of 1921. On May 31, 1921 a black shoeshine boy was accused of assualting a white girl (even though there were no witnesses and no evidence such as torn clothing, bruising, etc...). The evidence suggests that the two knew other and may have been friends, but that didn't stop whites from taking to the streets with guns, where they stormed black neighborhoods and rioted and set fires. In the end, approximately 300 blacks died as a result. So yes whites have killed, rioted and burned down neighborhoods when they thought one of their own was the victim of black-on-white crime.

Actually, Tigerlover, it's because whites have tried to separate blacks from the rest of America(remember, segregation means "To separate"), and even after the end of segregation many whites have used discrimination to keep blacks separate from the rest of society. Most of the organizations you named were founded after blacks were repeatedly refused inclusion, forced the black community to form their own organizations. TV networks such as BET were formed to air shows that black Americans like to view after the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox), refuse to show those programs due to "low ratings." Even today, many whites like yourself pretend to be such experts on black America when you don't know the first thing about us. Most of your knowledge comes from observation of, not interaction with, black people. You don't know nor understand the issues that plague inner-city black neighborhoods such as gangs, drugs, lack of adequate education, nor do you care to understand those issues. Yet, you want to sit on your high horse and pass judgement on those organization who are trying to combat these ills and think that makes you an expert on race issues. By the way, the United Negro College Fund is geared toward funding historically black colleges, which unlike big schools such as Texas A&M do not get government funding due to their private status, yet they admit several white students every year. In 2008, Joshua Packwood was the first white valedictorian at Moorhouse College. These school are every bit as part of America's education as Yale and Harvard, as many black scientists, physicians, inventors, businessmen, and politicians attended these schools after being denied entrance to other colleges due to their race. White students are encouraged to attend HBCU's, and some do and join black fraternities and sororities. Yet most choose not do because they don't want to be in a predominately-black environment, as if such an environment would be the worst place on earth. But being a black man in a predominatly-white environment isn't all that rosy either.

It is interesting that people "know" Zimmerman was a racist, and the Treyvon was murdered, and that Zimmerman wasn't defending himself. Yet in the same breath assert that anybody defending Zimmerman couldn't know what happened that night. There are a lot of preconceived notions out there rooted in racism.

Personally, I think if Treyvon was white dressed in the same garb and trying acting in a similar behavior the outcome would have been the same.

Actually pertaining to the story, this is what you get when the media runs as many attention grabbing headlines, dealing with how terrible the police are, in an attempt to gain readership. Such things make the police more of a target, and in turn more willing to exercise heightened measures to defend themselves or others. People need to re-evaluate how they evaluate others. We are all stuck here together on this little blue orb, so we had better make the best of it.

Out of curiosity, do some black people not realize that if you only get angry when a white person kills a black person and could care less when a black person kills a black person you are racist?

First, black people don't care less when a black person kills another black person. The difference that occurs, that you seem to overlook, is that the police wouldn't hesitate to locate a perp and make an arrest, something that is sometimes hard to get done in circumstances where the perp is white. You could just observe the comments made by so many in these boards everyday and see that there is a very large segment of the population that predetermined negative views of blacks regardless of the situation. From the first article here on the Travon Martin killing, you had slews of people here calling him a thug, a criminal, and any other demeaning term they could think of, but knew absolutely nothing about him beyond the color of his skin.

Blacks in America don't think any less about killings than whites, regardless the color of the perp or victim. But open your eyes and face facts and cold hard statistics, blacks have a much harder time obtaining justice, especially if the killer is white.

You don't have to be threatened to use the 'stand your ground' defense in Florida, you just have to feel threatened. Michael, what you don't realize is that a lof of people do understand what blacks go thru in the inner cities. One reason is because a lot of whites are living through the same problems. A lot of whites are growing up in the same type of areas. So let me spell it out for you-- they don't care. And it's not because they have anything against blacks but because in this society it's every man for himself. So don't expect people to feel symptathy and empathy for you when they're working hard to get ahead and pull themselves out of their situation. That's what problem, in my opinion, that a lot of blacks have. They seem to feel that they're the only ones growing up under tough conditions. It's the man keeping them down. Well guess what? You're not the only ones growing up without a silver spoon in your mouths. I grew up in the inner city, and was poor, but unlike a lot of people I knew who didn't study and work hard, I did. I'm caucasian and I didn't get any breaks from anyone just because of that. The company I work for has more blacks working for it than any other company I know. Just like I work my butt off, they do as well, or they won't last. If there's people that aren't making it it's because they didn't try or because of bad luck. And there's an awful lof of caucasians out there now that can't get a job. Are these caucasians being discriminated against? And one more thing, my Dad often didn't work but he didn't take off and desert the family. If a man doesn't assume his responsibilities that's his fault and not society's. The only difference is that a lot of whites don't personally like blacks. Well live with it. A lot of caucasians don't like other cuacasians. You don't hear us whining about it.

The fact is all "races" (which is by way not even scientifically classified, the only real race is the human race) have good and bad people. The only thing that differentiates one"race" from another is environment. Since most of msnbc's reporting is done by off-shore journalists in third-world countries and then electronically transmitted, there is no real on-scene reporting and thus the sometimes constant updating. They just want to be the first to report a story and fill in details as other news agencies make the details available.

A person, mother, sister, daughter was murdered at a family/community oriented event. The outrage is that not only was the same murdered, but that it occured in this type of venue. This is not the point. There is no problem with having women in the workforce. There is no problem with equal rights for women. There is no problem with men being the ones to stay home while women go to work. The feminist movement was about the ability to choose. You are both correct. Roosevelt took the U.S. off the "gold standard" in order to stop the run on banks during the Great Depression. He essentially "nationalized" the gold supply, thereby enabling the government to control pricing of gold and creating the ability to pay for the ensuing social programs created to get America moving again economically. Nixon took the U.S. off the gold standard completely in 1971 in order to finance social programs and the Vietnam War, which were both placing an enormous burden on government spending at the time. Way off topic, but there you have it.

Rob... I never said nor did I insinuate that women don't belong in the work place. Neither did I say they should not enjoy equal rights.

There is no need for them to raise wages when they have excessive multiple people competing for the jobs that are available. Some of those people are the wives and mothers, who previously were the stay-at-home moms (and believe me that is a job I WOULD NOT want!! I have the UTMOST respect and admiration for the people, both male AND female that are able to do that!) that are competing, not just against other parents, but illegal immigrants.

And while I DO believe in fairness and equality.... let it be in EVERYTHING. Years ago, NYC was forced by court order to MODIFY their written and physical tests for becoming Police Officers, Fire Fighters and Sanitation Workers.

The written tests apparently discriminated against some people who had difficulty reading and writing the English language and it neded to be dumbed down to allow them the ability of getting a passing grade.

The physical tests were "modified" to permit women to compete. While I have no problem with a woman firefighter, I DO have a problem with it if the woman can't pass the same physical test as the man. Would the female firefighter that couldn't put 150lbs of hose over her shoulder or drag a 150lb object be any good to a person unconscious in a fire consumed building? No, but that's ok... she passed the female test where the weights were only 70lbs. The women taking the Sanitation Workers test fared better. The men were required to lift 70lb "trash cans" while the women were allowed 40lbs.

I believe in equality. If you want the job, pass the same test. NOT a watered or dumbed down version.

Yes your right crime is very bad even in my small town. I can remember an armed robbery was big news when I first moved here. We hardly ever had a murder. Now there are shootings practically everyday & one or two killings a week. But the FBI keeps saying that the crime rate is going down "the lowest it's been in decades." I say BS it is much worse, I don't even bother calling the police anymore it is a waste of time. My sisters house was broken into and her electronics stolen. The police asked her "do you want me to file a report it probably wont be solved." Our city has a 99% unsolved property crime rate. They don't even bother trying to solve them anymore. Sorry for the rant but it makes me so mad for them to say that crime rates are down when I know better.

I live in a smaller town. It takes 45 minutes for a cop to get here. We take care of ourselves. Most of us are always armed. I guess that's why we have so little crime.

You do realize that when a police officer tries to break up a confrontation it is generally not done by drawing their weapon and pointing it at the involved parties, right? There is absolutely no indication in the article that the officer involved did anything "unprofessional" that is responsible for her death. The only way she could have prevented this type of sudden attack is if she constantly had her gun drawn and shot anyone who showed any sign of being a possible threat, which would be very unprofessional. There is only so much a trained professional can do, and this type of attack can happen no matter how well trained someone is. By your logic any time an officer dies in the line of duty it is because they were unprofessional or poorly trained. Professionalism and training aren't perfect, and even the best officer can be met with situations outside of their control.

The problem is the majority of people running his country are just as ignorant as you are. I don't even have the time to point out all the stupid things you wrote but let me TRY to explain a few. First off, lets assume that Jessie and or AL even have close to the power you suggest they have. Neither one of them have ever been advocates for protecting murdering gang members.
