Insulting 'Elmo' removed from NYC's Central Park Zoo

Elmo spewing racial comments about the Jewish people in Central Park.

A man impersonating the "Sesame Street" character Elmo, who for years has hassled tourists for money in New York City's Central Park Zoo, was taken away in an ambulance on Sunday after security guards were called, the Daily News reported.

The man, said to be emotionally disturbed, reportedly yelled racial insults and other obscenities when he was kicked out of the park.

The man, whose identity was not reported, had pestered tourists to pose for pictures with him.

Poor guy. Must be having things tough, to the point where just seeing other people, even of other races, just pisses him off. Having an Elmo suit on, doesn't help the ego either.

For years? There is no law against this in NYC?

Just one more child star that is now addicted to drugs and alcohol. The years have not been kind to him.

I think the lunatics should do what they do best and run for elected office.

                  Good Riddance

For those of you who don't live in NYC, the above mentioned crazy guy in an Elmo costume is one of MANY (there are easily dozens of them in the city) such people walking around the various parks and tourist spots in NYC trying to solicit money for photographs. They’ll dress up in similar Sesame street character costumes, which usually reek of alcohol and general filth, in hopes of getting people to take pictures of their children with the costumed individuals under the assumption that the person in the costume is just out there doing a friendly service.

The story has it wrong; they’re not out pestering people for pictures. Their goal is to get the attention of kids and to have the unassuming tourist think that they’re just taking a free picture. Once the picture gets taken, then the shakedown begins and these guys are not going to let that person leave without getting $5-$10 bucks. A lot of them work solo, but many of them work in 2 person teams where one person is in the costume and another person works almost like a pimp who gets aggressive about the money.

This is why Giuliani was such a great mayor, he never would’ve allowed these guys to continue their shakedown operations and it’s a disgrace that they’re allowed to operate in the city at all.

So what, do they beat you up if you refuse to pay? Just wondering.

They try their hardest to intimidate people right up to, and sometimes including, the point of physical violence. Every once in a while you'll see one of them get arrested because they got too aggressive and it was witnessed by a police officer, but that doesn't happen very often.

Dammit...... I KNEW Elmo was a hater.

Grover.... now he's the one with the cool disposition. But that Elmo's got to go.
