Barry McOwen was accused of drugging and raping girls as young as 6 years old.
A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty Tuesday to various child sex abuse charges, putting a surprising end to his trial on charges that he drugged and raped three young girls and posted images of the acts on the Internet.
Barry McOwen, 67, was charged with 651 total counts including multiple rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual abuse of children, endangering the welfare of children, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, invasion of privacy and drug violation charges.
He wound up taking the stand in court Tuesday -- the second day of the trial -- to plead guilty to some of those charges, including one count of child rape, three counts of indecent assault, four counts of creating child pornography and one count of dissemination of child porn, McOwen's lawyer George Yacoubian Jr. said.
The charges add up to 50 1/2 to 100 years in prison, Yacoubian said.

He said McOwen pleaded guilty to spare himself even harsher punishment while also sparing family members from having to testify in the trial.
When McOwen was arrested about a year ago, authorities said that he used both allergy and prescription medications, which he referred to as his “special juice” to drug the girls, who were left in his care, before he sexually assaulted them.
"All the times I loved touching her and fondling her and the best part is she has no clue," McOwen allegedly said in one particular chat, according to a criminal complaint.
All of the victims were between six and 10 years old.
According to investigators, McOwen took pictures and videos of the incidents and shared them with others over the Internet.

He often used Internet chats to share his horrific acts. The criminal complaint mentions one chat obtained by authorities in which McOwen allegedly told someone else, "I want to rape any pre-teen so bad."
McOwen also referred to his "sleep assaults" in many online conversations.
Investigators say the assaults took place over the course of five years -- between January 2006 and June 2011.
The investigation into McOwen began when authorities were made aware of child porn trading between McOwen and another individual, thanks to an investigation in Washington state. He was arrested in mid-June 2011.

so assuming all the 651 kids were white he has single handedly destroyed more lives by himself than anyone in history and white people are going to let this idiot out of jail. there have been thousands of innocent black men incarcerated and some put to death and this man is still beathing. whoever dont like the comment too bad. no reply needed. i see why the governor of illinois release so many black men off death row.

I'd think the guy would be trying to get out of this situation--there is one option for him--I'd suggest using it.
Death is not fitting or 100 years in jail. This pedophile needs a just punishment with a rusty dusty. During the process, someone should be there to keep him ambulatory. Each sufferer should get their, "Eye for an Eye" retribution. The event could take years with the number of victims. This is not a human being, but a savage not fit for the recognition of our legal protocols.
I sure this has been asked, but how does a guy like this get access to 650 young girls in the first place? Over a 5 year period? That's 2.5 a week!! How does this happen?
I don't think it is 650 different kids, 650 different counts. Several counts for each child I suppose, one count for rape, one count for abuse, one count of molestation, one count for pornography etc. Builds up. One count is all I need to place the blindfold.
It happens in every race, every country, every religion, every s.e.s. and, yes, even women do it. There is no cure or rehab. The only solution is death or permanent removal from society. And ya know what, I really don't want to foot the bill for these people anymore!

Do you know why these evil beings continue to roam the streets? It is because our justice system is absolutely horrifying. My husband was excused from being a juror just today on a molestation case. He was told by the defense that he would be hearing a taped conversation of a 70 year old man CONFESSING to numerous counts of child rape but would not be able to use it to convict him. Because the conversation was taped without the scumbags knowledge, it cannot be used against him. REALLY? They call it entrapment. I call it discovery. We are the voters and we can change the laws. The law should be that if the evidence is there, no matter what, that's it- execution for the rapists and molesters. They will never, ever be rehabilitated. Let's get out there and change these laws.

Death Penalty for child rape....
I was thinking more on the lines of a Public Execution! Not a lethal injection, just a public stoning. He earned it for attempting to "celebrify" himself by using the Internet as a source of amusement to other sickos like himself! Execute this piece of evil, waste! The tax payers are not willing to foot the bill for his life long extended stay in prison!

The laws need to change and fast. Too much of this BS going on and more to come. We as voters and citizens can do that. Lets get these sick pups off the street, as americans we can do it! It may take work, but can be done. Enough of this nonsense.
I find it so hard to understand how the legal system views convicted rapists, especially involving children. Several studies done by experts in the medical community state that men who rape children are incapable of being "cured". Consequently, the percentage of those who rape again, once out of prison, is proof positive. Why do we (the lawmakers) give them the opportunity to do this again.....time and again? The penalties for rape are lenient by most standards. A number of years ago, a man raped, chopped off the hands of a child, and threw her into a mountain latrine in the middle of winter to die. By some miracle, the girl was rescued. I read a few years back that she was now graduating college - AMAZINGLY, in the same time period that her attacker was being released from prison. What is wrong here???? McOwen will get 50-1/2 (1/2?) - 100 years. Granted, he will die in prison; but, would it have been any different if the rapist was 20 - and could get out when he was 70? I think that men who rape/sexually assault young children should get the death penalty since they have all but ruined the child's life. I'm a 70 y/o grandmother, and a Christian....but I have no problem with suggesting this. These people have a sickness that will never be cured. Why are we paying thousands a year to house them and keep them healthy when they are so twisted and will never change? Why?

Dress him up real nice in a fresh pressed prison uniform, walk him out to the center of general pop, give him a formal introduction with a full list of his offenses and let him get to know each and every inmate on a first name basis. "Hey Barry, Pucker up!"
