The New Jersey cheerleader who was shot dead in an apparent robbery on Tuesday knew her killer, sources say.
Amber Wilson, 18, who graduated from high school less than a month ago, was walking to her Hussa Street home in Linden with a friend just before midnight Tuesday when an unknown number of men approached them, said officials.
Wilson was robbed; an argument ensued and Wilson was shot, prosecutors said. She died at the scene.

Investigators were not releasing any official information on Wilson's connection with the gunman.
"We hope they apprehend the person that did this, this senseless loss of life," Wilson's father Norman Duncan told NBC 4 New York at a vigil Tuesday evening near where the teen was gunned down.
A wake has been scheduled for Wilson next Tuesday, July 17, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Dill Avenue. The funeral is scheduled for the morning of July 18, beginning at 11 a.m. at the same church.
Wilson graduated from Linden High School on June 22. Friends said she was an active member of her school community.

People, when is this senseless VIOLENCE going to STOP??? Beautiful Amber Wilson had her entire future before her and a coward took that away from her, her family and friends. Parents, don't be a silent participant in your children crimes; if you have knowledge that your son or daughter is commiting crimes, carrying a guy and hanging with the wrong crowd...TURN THEM IN TO THE POLICE. The Bible says "Open rebuke is better than secret Love"

Really sad. The father is holding it in far better than I would. When did it become acceptable to even the criminal element to use a gun and kill a young girl? Did he really feel threatened? May he have nightmares for the rest of his life, spent in a small cell with a huge, mean bunkmate.
That likes guy's.
My heart goes out to the victims family, may they find strength to get through this senseless tragedy.
As for the headline to this story? Lame... there is NOTHING in your story to substantiate this, in fact the statement by the father supports just the opposite. Stop sensationalising things to grab viewers attention... or go work for FOX!
