'Russian Hitman Prank' goes very wrong in Florida

Two filmmakers known for their “Miami Zombie Attack Prank!” video struck out in their latest attempted prank in Boca Raton, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

The man they tried to punk got very angry, and one of the filmmakers, Jonathan Vanegas, 20, of Delray Beach, spent Friday night in the Palm Beach County Jail on a felony bomb hoax charge, the newspaper reported.

In the video – titled “Russian Hitman Prank Gone Wrong!” – Vanegas’ film partner, Vitaly Zdorovetskiy of Delray Beach, carrying a briefcase, tells victim Andre Brown that they only have 60 seconds to get away from the briefcase. At first Brown runs along with Zdorovetskiy, but he shouts angrily at both of the pranksters when he’s told that the episode is being filmed, the Sun Sentinel said.

Zdorovetskiy, 20, said he apologized, but Brown, 51, was not receptive.

"He attacked me, my camera guy, he threw me on the floor, he threw my camera guy on the floor," Zdorovetskiy told the Sun Sentinel. "I was just screaming back, 'Sorry, I apologize.'"

Vanegas told the paper that he and Zdorovetskiy did not intend for their stunt to incite a violent reaction – or result in his own arrest.

The Sun Sentinel said it could not reach Brown for comment Monday.

The duo’s video had nearly 137,000 views on YouTube by Tuesday afternoon.

Bomb hoax in Boca Raton, FL is really small time. Why not try it in London in a few weeks? You could become a world famous idiot instead of the usual You Tube idiot.

Stupid, stupid, stupid! Bomb hoaxes...something you shouldn't ever joke about.

And sometimes an apology can never fix a wrong. Yes folks, in this world there are things you can't just say "My bag, sorry dude, I apologize." At least these fools paid the price for their dumba$$ "prank."

These"pranks" like every otther attention getting antic and entertainment form, need to become ever more extreme to capture and retain the attention of the people who enjoy watching them and in the case of pranks, callously laughing at other people being messed with. It's no different than the extreme sports and the tricks people are now attempting. .........This confrontation the article describes was logically bound to happen.

These kind of incidents will predictably occur more often and the reactions of the victims themselves will also become more equally more violent.

All of this is so stupid, so superficial.....

The best thing a young person can do now is go back to entertaining oneself, unplug the t.v., the phone, the computer, the radio, the i pad, the i pod the i everything that creates the illusion in ones brain that you are the center of the universe. This is a cordial invitation to try an interesting experiment. Unplug all of the gadgets that connect you to the outer world and generate a few thoughts of your own.

Ask yourself some questions:

Why do you thrive on being aggressive and behaving with such cruelty? What emptiness are you trying to fill up with so much endless entertainment? Where did the emptiness come from? ....... Why do you feel bored if you are not plugged into some form of entertainment 24 hours a day? Is it good for you or natural for you to feel bored if your mind is not occupied by information and entertainment flowing in during each waking hour?

Ask yourself how these things impact the quality of your INNER life.

Of all the people who have ever lived on this planet, you are the first ones who have grown up and had your minds and thought patterns developed under the specter of mass media as we know it today.... That which is researched, planned out and implemented with the goal of molding and manipulating your thinking so you will unflinchingly and without question serve or buy ...... Ask yourself why so many of you patronize and would pledge allegiance to any number of brands and/or icons which are the symbols of some of the very same corporations you might find yourself on a corner protesting....?

No one can argue that the world is becoming a better place, ...........ask yourself what the brain molding you and all of your age demographic companions have been formed by, might have to do with it, how has it impacted your beliefs, your thought processes, your values, your perceptions of the values and traditions of others, your behavior, your spending habits, your clothing choices and mannerisms, the way you perceive things even before you begin to think about them....

Yes, quite possibly, you think that the abundance and availability of information via your gadgets, is tantamount to your generation being smarter and even wiser than all the humans who tread the Earth before you combined.

However, the reality is, that your presumption is incorrect. Otherwise things would already have shifted in a more positive direction. Learn from those who came before you instead of arrogantly looking down your nose at them.

The world is swirling down the toilet now, it's up to you to step up to the plate to make it change for the better.

It is your world to inherit, to either improve upon or continue to it's demise.

The next thing you know, all the people born before the "information" age will be dead. Some of you have stated how happy you will be for that. However, you will not have anyone to blame if and when you can't fix what became your own mess.

Oh indeed, you will be able to blame the dead, but your complaints will not be heard...... And finger pointing is great for stereotyping and demonizing, however, it is not considered by any thinking person to be a valid problem solving strategy.

Your only hope is to become more human and less like the machines that you live your life vicariously through..

Wish you all my Best.

Peace

A friend of mine mentioned to me last week how the term "Euro trash" seemed to be so appropriate at times and he wondered who first coined it. "Euro Trash" in Florida. Great movie title.

If this guy had approached me with the threat of an explosive device, he would have received a .45 hollow-point to his face. He should be happy he is still breathing and able to eat solid food.

It was stupid of them to do such a prank but at the same time, I feel the guy overreacted. It's fine to yell in anger in this case because of the stupidity of the prank but to attack them was just going too far - how did they get arrested when he was the one to assault them?

              Reply#12 - Fri Jul 20, 2012 4:38 AM EDT

What you say may be. But ... the prankster committed the original assault. Hinting that the briefcase contained a bomb, and that the victim had only a few (in this case, 60) seconds to get away from it, and then running after the victim can really be considered assault, a real attack on a person. What happens afterward can come under the heading of self-defense.

Yup, a threat is technically an assault and grounds for arrest. And I believe a bomb threat is federal. But I could be wrong about that one. Actually, these two boneheads are lucky they weren't attacked with a weapon, especially in this day and age.

What would they have done if the person they wanted to punk pulled out a gun or a knife? There ARE people like that walking around. It really makes me wonder what their parents taught them as far as common sense goes....after seeing this, I've come to the conclusion that their parents probably just let them run amok. I'm glad their target put up a fuss because that is NOT funny.

Both are facing felony bomb hoax charges but say they won't be deterred from further pranks such as this, they'll just be more careful about who they approach. Idiots. It is funny how it went down in that they ended up the fools. I hope they get their asses kicked again next time they try it as well. Good job, Mr. Brown
