Subscribe to RSSTwo sisters are recovering after being bitten by a rabid beaver while swimming in Lake Anna near Louisa, Va.
Annabella and Alyssa Radnovich, ages 11 and 8, were attacked Sunday near Sorbie Cove in Louisa, Louisa County Sheriff's Maj. Donald Lowe said.
Alyssa felt a bump on her leg and initially thought it was her cousin playing with her, the girls’ mother, Wendy Radnovich, told fredericksburg.com.
“She could see this dark shadow underneath her, so she thought it was a person,” the mother said.
The beaver bit Alyssa as she tried to leave the water, then circled Annabella and bit her in the back of the leg.
Alyssa received around 15 stitches on her upper thigh and Annabella sustained three wounds just above her knee, Wendy Radnovich told fredercksburg.com
The Spotsylvania County girls have since been released from the hospital.
The girls’ uncle shot the beaver with a BB gun, then killed it with a knife, the mother told fredericksburg.com.

Police then turned the beaver over to the health department, which confirmed the animal had rabies.
Virginia Department of Health officials said it's just the fourth time in the past decade that a beaver in Virginia has been confirmed to have rabies.

As in, you have the wrong story dude who believes in a God---if he does exist, I can assure you, he would condemn you for the way you look at and judge others. Of all of his "messages", one is very clear. He accepts all people, no matter what they do and he encourages the rest of us to love them too. Again, I say if he is real...but since there are lots of people like you who say truly ignorant things(seemingly the only kind of believers there are---if there are other believers but not like this person, my apologies to you), I am skeptical.

Such terrible tragedy suffered by the beaver and her family: the invaders already did enough damage to humanity with the eradication of Native Americans for blocking access to colonialists "new world", but now even the beavers are deprived of its homeland.
OMG...there is a homeland for rabid beavers? and we are taking it away from them for all of the one miserable and painful week of dying ,and biting and infecting other healthy animals (not counting the girls-'cause they were just worthless humans) oh, and Chen- I am 1/4 Native American, and i object to the using of my ancestors history to argue for not destroying rabid beavers. I'm pretty sure my people would have put an arrow through it in a heartbeat, even 200+ years ago... they are wise like that.

Glad the girls are okay and they got the rabid animal before it could spread rabies even further. I can't imagine getting bit by those teeth! wow.
