Subscribe to RSSSeven American soldiers and two Marines received administrative punishment but were not charged criminally in the prostitution scandal that involved members of the Secret Service in Cartagena, Colombia. One airmen has also received a letter of reprimand.
Three soldiers who received non-judicial punishment have asked to face court martial in an effort to clear their names, defense officials told NBC News.
Two sailors implicated in the scandal remain under investigation.
The 12 servicemembers accused of consorting with prostitutes were in Colombia to help provide security and communications for an upcoming visit by President Obama. They were charged in a military investigation that was ordered after several Secret Service agents were caught in an explosive scandal, accused of taking prostitutes back to their hotel rooms.

The agents were ordered to return to the U.S. before President Obama arrived in Colombia.

Military are supposed to consort while they are in foreign countries.
It's a long standing tradition.
The guys with mics in their sleeves and dark glasses, not so much.
Those in the military will pay, more likely when it comes time to re-enlist which they probably will not be able to do. Since they had NJP and possible a court martial it is possible that they may lose their security clearance and also their rating if it requires one.
The military does take care of it's own many times to the detriment of the service member.
I still don't get what the big deal is. I mean, it's not like they were on duty when the hooker party went down. Obama wasn't even due in town for another couple of days, so why all the noise?
Secret service guy pays the girl and you never hear about this, just like all of the other times this happens.
They are only mad and making a big deal of this because they were not invited to party!!!
Charges should be filed to EVERYONE involved in this case! They should be accused of having terrible taste. Just look at the face of that woman. OMG!

First of all this has been going on for a long time ,the only reason it came to the spotlights is because the Secret Service Jerk did not want to pay for the Lady's service sometimes it does not pay to be cheap or not pay your bill,all this did was destroy careers and make them look like fools.
Seems that the adminastration and the non vets in DOD sure make a bi deal about the men in uniform chasing a lady in another country. I guess the non Vets in charge have never done this themselves>> New media give it a break and find some news!!!!!!

Let me understand. Are the whores in Columbia or coming to Columbia by way of Washington DC? I'm confused. Oh I understand the girls in Columbia are whores, they give you sex for money. The politicians, including the @!$%# in chief, they @!$%# you and take all your money.
These guys should form a union, that way nothing would happen to them at all, at least not for 3 or 4 fully paid years of administrative leave.
As a veteran who was asked to do presidential duty there are certain aspects of presidential duty that differ from the normal military. You are held to a higher standard and you are considered an ambassador of the USA while traveling. That being said if the hookers that the military personnel fooled around with were paid there is very little ground to stand on except the catch all ... conduct unbecoming... Because they are on presidential duty they must be perceived as on duty at all times while traveling. They can drink but not get plastered drunk. They are to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. Now if they were on leave or off duty (not likely for overseas travel under presidential duty) at the time all bets are off and they can do what they want as long as it is legal in the country they are at. Now the strictest duty of all is guarding the tomb of the unknown solder. Now that duty is strict as hell and this stuff would never fly. I hope these military personnel didn't get it too bad because it was not that bad as long as they paid there hookers. One last note. As a former sailor when we hit a foreign port they handed out condoms and gave us advise on where the decent hookers were. So do you think the military looks down on hookers .... not if it is legal in that country!

It wasn't prostitution until they demanded $$$. That's why the men had a problem with paying it and didn't. Unfortunately it's pay to play in Colombia since the tricks got tricked in the club.

The charge was dismissed by the service,are they got slapped on the hand.What i wonder is how many will be slapped in the face when they get home.Chance are they maybe slapped with Divorce paper when they get of the plane.What even funnier is when they get there paychecks.

Most red blooded American service man would do the same. My only concern would be that they did not take her/them into the COM rooms. That could compromise the mission.

@ Sandy, they don't become prostitutes because they want to? No, they probably become prostitutes because, in the Columbian economy, that's one of the few professions in which they can get decent pay and some time for leisure or to care for their children.
You obviously have a better life to offer them... once you fix the Columbian economy and make higher education and childcare available to these women? No, you don't have a solution, so you offer to make the problem worse by taking away a tenable way for them to make ends meet.
