That's because they just want to be seen on TV as if they really give a hoot. If it was their child, I don't think they would want the world to know before they did, that their child was gone. As a cousin or aunt, who isn't a part of the immediate family, I don't think it's your place to say anything, period!!

The police should let the families know all the information that they find about this individual. The police has not released the motive for the shooting, but the families have the right to know. Although it won't bring their loved ones back, at least they should be kept updated of the criminal investigations.

I am 66 years old. I have been around guns all my life growing up in Oklahoma. We have 4 long guns and 3 pistols in our home. The NRA does not speak for us. Where in the name of god is the harm in registering our guns just as we register our cars and licensing us gun users just as we license our drivers? There has to be a way for us owners to enjoy our guns and at the same time have something in place that would have picked up that this young man was purchasing such quantities of ammunition and such types of guns.

Let common sense and good sense rule. We began registering and licensing cars and drivers for a good reason; there is an equally good reason to do the same for guns and their owners and users.

The little girl's family released the name because people want to know. We may not have a right to, but this is America and we demand to. Her mother's condition is very serious, it may be weeks or months before she is told. By that time, it's old news for us and on to the next tragedy. May the survivors heal and be able to move on. I cannot imagine losing a child, especially if I had somehow survived the incident that killed him or her. My prayers go out to all who are affected by this tragedy.

I really wanted to see a picture of the little girl. I hope the parents will release it, at least in the near future.

The shooter was a nut case who probably didn't care about whether if his guns were registered or not. Registration is useless. In fact registration puts the 2nd Amendment in danger, for example the United Nations will be voting on a firearms issue very soon and if Hillary signs it and Obama agrees american gun owners will be in danger of losing their 2nd Amendment rights via the UN.

I hope in the coming days that the media will remember the unsung heroes in this horrible tragedy, such as 19 year old Jarell Brooks. He risked his life and took a bullet by shielding the mother with the 4 year & 4 month after the father left the baby in the isle to save himself. This so-called father and his girlfriend have been all over the news giving interviews for their 15 minutes of fame, instead of focusing on their children. And never once has the mother mentioned what this young man did to help a complete stranger.

This ANIMAL who took the lives of innocents should be treated to the most horrific of punishments. I would suggest that #1. We FLAY his skin from head to toe.

#3. Then immerse him in a Pot of Boiling Oil, very very slowly, right up to his neck...so he can watch himself, and feel himself FRY alive.

My heart goes out to all the victims and their families who were killed, wounded, or traumatized by this sad excuse for a human being, whose name I will not use. This may not be poltically correct, but people like this killer are pure evil.

I visited the scene of the killings of 7 innocent people in a Beauty Salon in Seal Beach, CA 3 days after it happened last October, 2011. The oppressive presence of evil was still thick in the air. The Theater in Aurora must be choked with this killer's evil. One way or another God will ultimately pass on his justice, and sweep this evil away. Again, my prayers are with those who suffer from this terrible tragedy. May God's Spirit be with you now and always.

You people that are blaming God and attacking God for this do not understand God in anyway. This is a tragic incident in which many people are hurting and many suffered from the hands of a very evil individual. But do not blame God for this.

Instead of being ugly to each other on here during this horrific time why not just let those pray enjoy praying and lifting up these poor souls that need all the support they can get from God and all those around them. And for those of you that choose not to believe in God, all I can say is, I have nothing to loose and everything to gain, you on the other hand better hope you are right because if not you certainly have an eternity waiting I would not wish upon anyone. And since you are willing to bet your eternity on that choice, how about not influencing others because if you’re wrong, think of what you are subjecting those people to that follow your choice and end up in burning in hell for all eternity. We don't need to control guns. We don't need to control ammo. We need to control high-capacity magazines. Nobody should have access to 100 round drum magazines, or even mags of 20 rounds for assault rifles. These are for one thing, killing people. Do you need a 30 round clip to hunt deer. Congress should get with the NRA and just set a limit on public ownership on these high-capacity magazines. The guy that shot the congresswoman in AZ had 30 clips for his glocks. Christianity didn't exist 4,000 years ago. It's at best 2,000 years old. And it really didn't become a religion vs a cult until after the Gospels were written. Hurt, if you would have watched the media reports yesterday, the father is the one that took his daughter to the hospital and sat there for 3 hours when he found out his 6 yr old daughter did not make it, he then left and went to the hospital where the 6-yr old's mother is hospitalized and he was detained because he made a comment that this deranged idiot that would kill all these people and wound all the others should be killed and when he said that, they would not allow him into the hospital to see how his wife (which is an ex, which apparently has a great relationship together because they went to the movie together with their daughter) is doing. He had to sit outside the hospital where his wife was and not able to be by her side to know what happened to her and to comfort her while she is recovering and paralyzed. They have made the decision not to tell her how her daughter is because of concerns over her own condition and that she is going to be o.k. Please don't add fuel to the fire when there has been so much reported on, on this family and it just adds to the people who have nothing better to do than to argue with each other over ridiculous accusations. Let us all understand and know that all these people and their pathetic excuses to belittle the police, coroner, psychologists, and everyone else involved and wanting to make sure they do the right things and protect the right people. Yet many of these people sit on the side line and pass judgement as to what should really be said and that is that, this community needs our support and understanding of the WHOLE magnitude of the situation.

I think they said the Mom was shot in the neck & possibly a quadraplegic? She could be heavily sedated or in ICU......and away from any TVs or radio........When Gabby Gifford was shot, I don't think they informed her of the other deaths right away either.

i have to comment on the 6 year old and the name being released... i agree with all of u.. there is no reason we the people should know that someones child is dead before the parent knows... i can see in a way why the parent may not have been informed yet.. seeing she is in still crit condition correct? or should i say in a fragile condition.. i am sure the family doesn't want to put her through the utter hell she will go threw knowing here baby is dead... i don't know about some of u but i am sure a lot of u if u were in her place in such a weakend state it would probably kill u.. and they may be fearing that BUT!!! even though the media and all of us are aloud to have freedom of speech and a right to know whats going on Sometimes that right should be put on hold, how selfish, how distasteful and how messed up is it that you would do that, i mean u can't say something along the lines of what was stated earlier on, that a 6year old little girl was killed but the name of the child will not be disclosed at this time until the parent is in a better state or something like that.. i think we people hearing about this would understand.. i mean can u all imagine how the mother will feel when she hears oh hun the world knows about ur daughters death but u as a parent will be the last to find out.. This is a very sad incident and my sympathy to all the relatives of those killed or injured.

My final comment...nobody wants to talk about the movie PG-13 rating but parents taking infants and young children...and to a midnight showing no doubt. Total lack of parental responsibility. That movie is way too scary with Bane for a 6 year old, or a 4 year old and nobody wants to hear an infant crying! Of course Holmes could have hit any theatre, any time of day, but I personally hate going to the movies when people bring infants and way underage children. Get a freaking babysitter!! As a past owner of a gun shop, I must say it is not the gun dealers fault when a seemingly normal, high honors student, of age and with no background that would prohibit him from passing the insta-check system that is now in place through the FBI comes into their store to purchase a weapon. Seemingly normal people can and do crack. It has always happened and always will. I am very surprised that in a Colorado theatre with three hundred people occupying it, nobody was legally armed or of a mind to take this maniac down either at the start when he shot into the ceiling or during reloading. It is not the same Colorado I have visited decades ago. Sorry to say that we must protect ourselves and not look for utopian ways to disarm everyone and all live in harmony. It just is not possible. Girls and boys should go through RAD courses (Rape, Assault, Defense) so they are given a chance at defending themselves against the predators that always have and always will be among us. When they come of age, they should also be able to defend themselves with "the great equalizer" when and if it ever is needed.

AlphaM, I had the same exact thought but didn't want to say it. Why was a 6 year old child at a midnight movie of this violent film that is clearly for adults. One of the problems in our society is that children younger and younger are being exposed to so much violence and they become desensitized to it. I would not allow my 11 year old to see this movie. This is a serious issue in our society. Too much violence and no six year old should be seeing this movie!! I just don't get parents that bring their kids to movies like this or other movies that are rated for adults. Last week, I went to see Magic Mike and a couple walked in with their toddler! He was around 4. We couldn't believe it! It is NOT appropriate for young kids to be seeing this stuff!! It is shocking what happened and their loss is awful. Something is definitely wrong with the world we live in.

AT first, I was way beyond annoyed with your words and thought you as a sad bitter individual. But now from your last couple of posts where you clarified a bit more, I got what you're saying. I've had a sibling years ago whose life was taken by another and sadly the guy got away with it. Yet he was able to get to get kevlar body armor, gas mask, semiautomatic attack rifle, handguns and tear gas canisters all legally. Do you think someone with a concealed carry could have really taken him out that easily. Then he would have started taking hostages and using them as shields. Look at other countries, like asian countries like India or Pakistan do you see anything like this happening. No cause you can't legally buy guns so easily like buy milk or bread. Also, look at all the massacres of years past, all the guns wer LEGALLY obtained. The right to bear arms applied to those colonials fighting the british, not anymore, all guns should be illegal except for law enforcement personnel. Will there be illegal guns? sure, but the law enforcement is there to protect, you don't need to protect urself with vigilante justice.

Not only that but they have a right to own a gun for whatever legal purpose they like whether it's sporting, protection, collecting, what ever. I completely agree with you from my previous post.I am a liberal and a gun owner.As a matter of fact i own a AR-15 myself and a AK-74.I am not saying that people dont have a right to own these types of weapons .But what i am saying is basically that the NRA has too much of a voice in our political system and all they do is keep people scared that some liberal is going to take their guns away to keep their pockets lined.As a matter of fact President Obama has loosened some rules for gun owners but the right dont want their flock to know that so that less money will go to the nra.I hope to never ever have to use any of my guns in anger at another human being,i have been shot and know the trauma that it can cause to a human body.I just hate it when people interject politics into a story that has nothing to do with politics.Like the lady i mentioned.

Bob, for your information the baby was asleep during the beginning part of the movie. The baby probably would have slept during the WHOLE move. If you raise your baby right they will be able to sleep through anything. I know as I have seen people at movies where their kids sleep the whole time. It is no different than taking your baby to the park...at that age ALL THEY DO IS SLEEP! And all 6 year old kids are not the same. This child may have been just as excited to see the movie as everyone else was.

And this baby was also left crying in the isle while the father fled the theater & drove away. It was a miracle that the child wasn't shot or trampled. The mother was shielding the 4 year old and saw the baby & was able to grab him. Instead of the father doing everything he could to protect the family, a 19 year old young man did, covering them with his body as he took a bullet. It wasn't until the mother & the kids made it out that she called him on her cell phone & the sorry excuse of a father came back. Yep, he's a responsible parent! We have become a me-me society, caring more about our own wants than being a parent. A midnight showing is no place for a small child.

The 19-year old hero who took a bullet protecting the two children and the mother was Jarell Brooks. I hope the media will get a clue and honor this young hero who protected complete strangers instead of putting himself first. Jarell did what the father should have done.

Bob, I wouldn't call it bad parenting but I kinda understand where you're coming from. When I first read about children and babies being there, a thought of mine was "why would anyone bring children that young to a movie premiere SO late?". I know many people do take their little ones places after hours but I'm not one of them.

The point is that that child should not have been at the theater at midnight I have 3 kids under the age of 10 and they are in bed by 8 and if I wanted to see it bad enough id for sure wait until the next day to see it, as a parent you have to put your needs aside and do whats best for your children which meant the parents should have made better decisions and waited to see it I am not saying they are bad parents but it clearly was a bad decision.. also the fact that all the killing that goes on in this movie and the rest of the bat man series is not appropriate for kids that little and thats why there is what is called ratings even if it is PG 13 a 6 yr old should not be watching this kind of thing .. this is just my opinion and im not asking for anyone to like it.

I completely agree with Bob. Actually, bringing a young infant to a late movie isn't as bad as bringing a 4, 6 or 12 year old. Infants do sleep though these things, but can disturb other movie-goers, so it's very selfish of the parents. However, movies nowadays a played with very loud volumes, and I would never bring one to a theater, besides to be considerate of the other guests, because I wouldn't want my baby's hearing damaged.

I think it's absolutely horrible to allow slightly older kids to go to a very violent, PG-13 movie at midnight. It was a 3 hour movie, for God's sake! That means it's done at 3 a.m.! How could that ever be appropriate for a 6 or 12 year old? Heck, I question allowing a 16 year old to go at that time! Aren't there curfews around there?

It's SUMMER for goodness sakes. It is incredible to me that people would excorciate parents for indulging their little ones with some summer fun. Like it's the parent's fault this nut case showed up shooting! There is a special place in hell for judgmental jerks.

Who cares if its summer, spring, winter or fall? It's a very violent movie that young children are going to, and it's not staying up until 10, or even 11 p.m.. It's staying up and out until after 3 a.m. There's being flexible with bedtimes for the summer, and there's this. People are so clueless nowadays.

The death penalty would serve a good purpose in this situation and others. I really do think it is a deterant (sp?). God does want us to forgive people that are evil like this guy, but forgiveness does not mean we forget or that we agree with what they have done. Forgiveness also takes time. This just happened. I'm very angry what he did - to shoot and harm and kill all these people - to disrupt the theatre (sp?) and the people where he lived. He had not right to do this. Only HE is responsible for what has happened. It's called personal responsibility. I do think that he deserves the death penalty.

The death penalty is supposedly a "deterrent" in the USA? In what universe are YOU living? Thge whole so-called "deterrence" theory arose from nuclear weapons, which could destroy all life on the planet if actually used. The so-called "deterrence theory" never extended to wither firearms ownership or the death penalty for the obvious reason that the so-called "deterrence" didn't work. If it's a "deterrent" then why does it even have to be used? The ONLY test of a deterrent is, does it actually have to be used. if it has to actually be used, then obviously it isn't a deterrent.

Supposedly the death penalty has been in effect there for quite a while, and supposedly this gunman knew that if he murdered somebody, he could potentially be put to death.
