Al-Qaida leader threatens to carry out more attacks on US soil

An al-Qaida leader in Iraq has threatened to soon carry out an attack inside "the heart" of the U.S.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi released an audio recording boasting that operatives from his al-Qaida affiliate are in the midst of planning a major terror operation.

"Soon you will witness them in the heart of your homeland, as our war with you has just begun, and so await them," al-Baghdadi said.

Federal and local security officials told NBC New York there are no new specific threats inside the U.S. The officials said that overseas terror leaders often make unsubstantiated claims and threats about targeting American interests.

This latest terror threat message did not specify where or when such a plot might take place. New York, which officials say has faced more than a dozen unsuccessful terror plots since 9/11, appears not to be a target.

"There is no specific or credible threat to New York at this time," said FBI New York spokesman J. Peter Donald.

Officials have said the 2009 Zazi subway terror plot and the 2010 Times Square car bomb attempt were the most serious threats to date against the city. Both of those plots were planned with the help of al-Qaida operatives based in Pakistan.

Al-Baghdadi – which is believed to be a pseudonym -- became head of al-Qaida in Iraq in 2010.

The al-Qaida affiliate in Yemen has also targeted U.S. airliners using explosives hidden in underwear. That group has also plotted to bomb cargo planes using explosives hidden in printer cartridges.

In 2005, al-Qaida in Iraq had been linked to a "baby stroller" bomb threat targeting New York subways. But after an investigation, security officials determined the alleged plot to smuggle bombs onto trains hidden in baby strollers was based on unsubstantiated information from intelligence sources overseas.

In addition to threats inside the U.S., al-Baghdadi boasted that the terror group would soon carry out more attacks and assassinations inside Iraq.

As for the U.S., he said "The leader of the infidels and protector of the Cross, I say to her: Your war on the Muslims is a failure, and soon enough Allah-willing you will collapse and accept defeat."

He went on to claim terror operatives were already en route to the US. "The Mujahideen have departed to pursue your fleeing army, and they have sworn to make you face more severe punishments than those dealt to you by Osama (bin Laden)."

NBC terrorism analyst Evan Kohlmann translated al-Baghdadi's comments.

"Soon you will witness them in the heart of your homeland, as our war with you has just begun, and so await them," al-Baghdadi said.

With that statement.....your followers will immediately be sent to Allah to meet with the 1,000 virgins.

BTW: look up in the sky, it is a bird, it is a plane.....NO.....it is a DRONE named "The Terminator" with missiles marked with your name {al-Baghdadi} on each missile and signed: "Greetings from the U.S.".

No, no, no Jim... it was over when Chimpy said, "Mission accomplished" after a Hollywood-esque entrance. If memory serves, at least Chimpy managed to not f*ck up his celebratory speech with as great a butchering of the English language as that of Iraqi civilians.

@Sally in Chicago --- "If we can't stop a nutcase like Holmes from getting 6,000 rounds of ammo, we can't stop the terrorists" That's pure hilarious coming from a Chicago resident. What has Chicago done to stop black on black terrorism and keep its citizens safe? While the incident in Colorado was a national tragedy, how many people have been killed by gun fire in Chicago during 2012? Maybe you need to get your own house in order before pointing fingers at others like a hypocritical biotch.

      Jon:

YOU WROTE: " it was over when Chimpy said, 'Mission accomplished' after a Hollywood-esque entrance."

MY RESPONSE: You are woefully misinformed. So, let me enlighten you with the facts, which I'm sure will mean nothing to folks like you, who are driven by mindless hatred for former President George W. Bush.

The hysteria aimed at George Bush for allegedly saying “Mission Accomplished” (regarding the war in Iraq) is unwarranted. The fact is the crew of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln wanted a prominent “Mission Accomplished” banner hanging from the bridge of their ship (as a backdrop to Bush’s televised speech about the Iraq War delivered on May 1st, 2003) to laud their successful completion of a 10-month cruise (a normal cruise is six months); it had nothing to do with claiming that the military mission in Iraq had been completed.

Navy Commander and Pentagon spokesman Conrad Chun even said the banner referred specifically to the aircraft carrier's 10-month deployment (which was the longest deployment of a carrier since the Vietnam War) and not the war itself, saying "It truly did signify a mission accomplished for the crew.”

White House press secretary, Dana Perino, subsequently said "President Bush is well aware that the banner should have been much more specific and said 'mission accomplished' for these sailors who are on this ship on their mission." But such a banner would have been too long, too verbose, and too clumsy; nevertheless, the sailors knew the exact meaning of the “Mission Accomplished” banner, so they didn’t need a translator. It was the mainstream news media and biased partisan hacks, like you, who twisted the true meaning of that banner to fit their hate-based, anti-Bush agenda.

But to the assembled audience and the world, President Bush basically said, "…Major combat operations in Iraq have ended (referring to the conventional phase of the war). In the Battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed. And now our coalition is engaged in securing and reconstructing that country...In this battle, we have fought for the cause of liberty, and for the peace of the world. Our nation and our coalition are proud of this accomplishment - yet it is you, the members of the United States military, who achieved it. Your courage - your willingness to face danger for your country and for each other - made this day possible. Because of you, our nation is more secure. Because of you, the tyrant has fallen, and Iraq is free...The transition from dictatorship to democracy will take time, but it is worth every effort. Our coalition will stay until our work is done. Then we will leave, and we will leave behind a free Iraq."

Finally, according to CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante, the president himself never uttered the words "mission accomplished" (far from it), but that point often gets lost in the passionate feelings about the war. The same point was made, in so many words, by ABC News reporter, Tahman Bradley. So stop getting your slanted “news” from the Huffington Post. Sheeeeeeeeeeesh!

"The heart" translates to the mechanism that keeps the country pumping, it's a metaphor. That means that transportation will cease, leaving food supplies unavailable by hitting a dozen soft targets simultanously. With thousands of new mosques in place it will be easy for communities to fall to local control as the take over by dar ul Islam hits the US. Be aware that this is a very complex 10 year plan that started on 911 with the hudna. Have an emergency plan in place, be aware of your neighborhoods and prepare for martial law if al Qaeda pulls this off, which they fully intend to do.

911 was a Coptic Christian holiday, the underwear bomber planned a Christmas attack. Attacks are planned for Jewish and Christian holidays by al Qaeda. Mark your calendars.

Tactics of al Qaeda also include contamination of hospitals and shelters. This is something we all should know by now and be talking about instead of politics and virgins and drones. Be prepared for 12 Kartinas all at once. FEMA will not be able to save you as they will be overwhelmed and available a couple of days after the event. Have a plan, practice it, prepare, and talk to your kids. It's time for serious discussion and education.

You're preaching to the Liberal/Progressive bobble heads here.

Their indoctrination has been completed and they have no self-respect left. They just blather what Barrack Hussein, the DNC and Debbie Whatsername Slutz tell them to. These are the same people who will argue that FDR did something economically right during the Depression, The Great Society helped and Clinton left some kind of mythical surplus.

When you have a segment of society that actually believes in the "Life of Julia", which would be more appropriately called "Women are Helpless", you know you're talking to the lower end of societies spectrum. It's sad to see so many have decided that some bureaucrat can take care of them better than they can take care of themselves. This is the result of the convoluted ideology of social and economic justice. As our government loses hundreds of billions of dollars to waste, fraud, abuse and corruption the mindless minions don't care because they contribute nothing of substance to society other than their self-pity.

Your explanation is accurate and correct but the useful idiots won't accept any facts because their mind has already been made up for them by the government. Such is the agony of the Liberal mind.

As far as the claim there were no al-Qaeda operatives in Iraq under Saddam, that's horse$h*t. The mastermind of the WTC bombing (the one that 9/11 truthers always conveniently leave out as a factor of the collapse of the towers eight years later) was in Iraq when we came calling.

al-Qaeda losers may not have been operating inside Iraq before our Bi-Partisan authorized misadventure, but there's little doubt they were there.

Obama is telling the Justice Dept. what laws to enforce, (or not enforce) and he is not enforcing immigration law, (with regards to children of illegal parents as of 10 days ago) and only yesterday a pick-up with 23 illegal immigrants crashed in Texas some children killing 14 and injuring 9.

Because the Mexican border is not secure and if illegals with just the shirt on their back can walk across our border, what makes you think al-kaida financed with oil money can't come into the U.S and cause mayhem?

You can also blame Obama for creating opportunity of illegal human traffic in the U.S. by having our Justice Dept. not enforce immigration law.

Don't you just love the whole idea of every one in any war or conflict claiming God is on their side. If the idiots would drop the religious foolishness and admit they just want to kill every one different from them we could get the whole thing over with. This works with Christians as well as Muslims. Religion politics and money. the real causes of the biggest part of human misery.

There were Muslims in the World Trade Center Towers on 9.11.01.

The terrorists only goal is too kill as many people that do not not strictly follow the teachings of the religious leader at the center of the Al-Qeada network.

Of course you know Religion is just the excuse. Wars aren't fought for or by Religious people. Its politics and money...plus alot of anger from overseas about all the villages and innocent people who got in the way.

Cause and effect. America has been in the wrong too many times. I don't want to pay the price for Government and Corporations but what choice do we have? What choice did all the innocent villagers have?

The terrorists don't care how many times they fail. I hope I am wrong, but I am convinced eventually some will succeed.

Even when they fail they actually are accomplishing their main goal of bankrupting us by forcing us to spend more money.

Don I hate to admit it but you're probably right. Given enough time they'll succeed in something, even if it's small scale. The stink of it is that it only has to be a small success to affect our daily lives and, as you said, make us spend money (that we don't have).

Don you are correct. A terrorist views how many people his IED can kill.

Terrorists do not measure their victories by towns and water wells taken as they cannot permanently hold such positions.

The measure of a terrorsists success is only how many can be killed with a single IED.

Everyone had doubts that terrorists would not attack on 9.11.01 and looked what happened.

With President Obama being in office the world stands a better chance at defeating terrorists than we would with Romney in office who I am certain is viewed by the terrorists as being soft and incapable of giving the orders to attack terror units in the Middle East.

Obama has struck fear into the terrorists hearts by giving the order to kill Bin Laden the first chance he had as well as intitiating the attack against Gadaffi.

The new terrorist leader will last long.

As a Veteran of the Iraq war, as well as being here in Afghanistan presently on my second tour, you don't know what youre talking about. Anyone with a half a brain would have given the order to kill OBL. We knew where Osama was, so what's so hard about pulling the trigger? I've been in the Air Force for 26 years now and I'm tired of the Rambo types on here thinking they know what they're talking about. We build bars with minarets and a loud speaker of an Imam shouting nightly specials of booze and burka-stripping pole dancers, use copies of Quran as coasters and everyone wears T-shirts featuring Mohammed smoking a joint and gulping martinis.

Open the borders, let 'em come, better to battle here than in some crummy desert and definitely better than putting security on red alert and making life miserable for all 300 million of us. Give us our freedom back and then we'll really feel like fighting to keep it. Right now, it seems our government is treating us worse than the enemy. Let's try something else.

I have had some very respectful and interesting discussions with Muslims. Not all are like the Al-Qaida brand that you see in the headlines.

We have the same terrorists here in America, remember Timothy McVeigh? He was a Christian Terrorist. The real terrorists are those who lack restraint and controll over their beliefs and at sometime have a psychotic snap in their mind where they believe that what they are doing is the will of God, Allah, Buddah, etc.

The only reason such people do these things is because they realize that as long as they are killing people they will have control over something that they would never of had control over to begin with, which could anything, woman, men, property, livestock....history.

The only way to make certain that such people are remembered is to kill them so that the pages of history will mark them as being defeated.

Dwight, Timothy McVeigh was one isolated example who happened to be an atheist and was executed ten years ago. It really is not the same as a worldwide terror movement. I know that there are some very fine Muslims, including my own doctors...but extremist radical Islam is a very real threat to us all.

Governments, politics and money is all exploding in our faces. Old time Religion, whether Christian, Jewish or Islam is exploding in our faces.

We need a World run by Human Rights. Not Religion, money or politics.

Instead of hating them we need to pray for them. This Al Qiada chief is confused and angry. He needs help. He needs to know that Allah is a false God. He needs to understand that revenge is a lonely road and it will backfire. Please pray for the whole Muslim world.

haluk, you are probably right. We should tell him to go out into the desert on a clear night, and hold up a lit candle, and stand there for a few minutes, saying "Allah, send me a signal." And we should make sure that he gets the message.
