Unfortunately, until someone is injured, this type of crime is usually not taken all that seriously by law enforcement. If she had been claiming to be a doctor they would have taken it more seriously, but since she was not doing so, it was not seen as being as serious. It is only after someone is seriously injured or dies that you can get them to really take an interest in stopping the person. I think this is partly because law enforcement sees the victim as partially to blame for going to the unlicensed person to start with. Not to blame the victim, but how stupid do you have to be to allow someone who is not a medical professional to repeatedly inject unknown substances into your body!!! I an sorry that someone died, but that does not erase the stupidity of the victim allowing this woman to perform these procedures to start with. I know that I am certainly not going to allow some lay person to start injecting things into my body; I am cautious enough about what I let doctors inject me with and I make damn sure I know what it is before I give them the OK to proceed.
