Police discover the body of a gunman who had killed an innocent bystander, shot a police dog and injured two police officers in Indiana. NBCNews.com's Dara Brown reports.
Updated at 1:45 p.m ET:
A suspected gunman and a bystander are dead after two officers were wounded and a police dog was killed during a shooting rampage in the central Indiana town of Pendleton, authorities said Friday.
A New Castle man identified as suspect Jim Kenneth Bailey, 58, was found dead possibly by a self-inflicted gunshot, police told NBC station WTHR of Indianapolis.
Police say Bailey, clad in a flak jacket and gas mask, showed up at his estranged wife’s home in Pendleton late Thursday and started firing his gun outside.
See the original story at NBC station WTHR
Bailey fatally struck John Neal Shull, who was driving past the house in his pickup truck, police said.
When Pendleton police arrived, Bailey grazed an officer, authorities said. An officer from the town of Anderson, who came as a backup, was hit in both legs. His police dog was shot and killed.
Bailey had "a lot of ammunition. He had a will to injure someone," Pendleton police Chief Marc Farrer told WTHR.
Police set up a perimeter and put the town on lockdown as SWAT members hunted for Bailey door-to-door.
They discovered Bailey's body behind his estranged wife’s home at 6 a.m. Friday.
Pendleton is a town of 4,000 about 30 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

This is an Outrage!!!!, He should be sent to prison for shooting the dog.
Hey Buddy, I did hear that the dog left 16 widows and 127 pups. They must have been hiding behind the deceased police poodle.
i guess they dont like it when their dog is shot but its ok to go to the wrong address and shoot a 20lb terrier as long as it is someone elses
The suspect shot two gestapos but did not kill them. If it was the other way around and he did not have a gun he would have been shot 50 times in the back and killed. To bad about the dog but at least it will not be abused anymore by it's masters.
@MNSlim
Gestapo? Really? It sounds as if you've had a few run ins with them in your life. You're mad because they didn't want you driving 60 mph through a residental area? Or maybe looting a store? Or raping your neighbor's daughter? I imagine you'd like them well enough if someone stole your car and you want it back. Or if you're bleeding to death after a car accident and they are the first on the scene. Or of some crazy pedophile grabs your kid and drives away. Will you call them "Gestapo" when they are there to help you out? Probably not. You're an example of another hypocrite (and maybe ex-felon) blaming them because you did something stupid and got caught.
Road side check points, search you at air ports, cops in schools, german shepards, trying to take our rights and guns away every chance they get. When I went for my CDL license a cop that was walking in front of me in the parking lot turned around and stopped in his tracks and asked me in a bully fashion what I was doing there. I had to show the nazi my papers to convince him I was there for testing when I hadn't done a damn thing but get out of my car and walk toward the door. That's bs!! Looks gestapo like to me.
Hey FunnyBuddy, that wasn't no ordinary dog. That was a dog that raised his right paw and swore an oath to the brotherhood.
"Authorities believe Bailey is armed with an automatic weapon.
Bailey was described as a white male,"
Need I say more....
You're complaining about road side checks? Gee, how many hundreds of thousands of people are injured or killed every year by drunk or drugged drivers? Then you complain about airport checks, did you forget about what happened in New York on 9-11? Cops in schools, remember Colombine? They are enforcing the laws made by local, state, and federal law makers. Don't like the laws? Get them changed. And as far as being asked A question in a "bully" fashion, did you expect them to say "Please sir, may I give you a back rub and then assist you to the correct office?" You undoubtedly left out your action that led up to being asked a question. (Oh the horror, you had to answer a question!!!)
Serious Bizz wrote: "Need I say more...."
:-)
What's the difference a white shooter and a shooter "of color"?
A white shooter can afford an automatic weapon.
Note the date and time of this post.
You heard it here first: They won't kill him. They'll "find him dead".
@ MNSslim;
Your sarcasm over cops being wounded and animals being shot and killed is in direct contrast to your own words from previous posts. Your world is not peaceful sir if you revel in others tragedy, whether you are on their side or not. You sir are a hypocrite.
After reviewing your posts I would say try the heavy duty Reynolds sir. Oh, one more thing sir Atheist have no religion, your post is an oxymoron , Atheist Pagan?lol
EggsCalibur, You stated, "road side check points, search you at airports, cops in schools, German shepards".....Hmmm, I wonder why this ongoing heightened security? Yeah, it's a shame that our law enforcement finds this necessary, what with all the ongoing criminal activity here in the states. Oh, and how unfortunate that you felt harrassed by a cop while obtaining your CDL license. Hmmm......questionable. Maybe you just have that "je ne sais quoi" about you, in the sense of an "indefinable, elusive look".......Lol. Btw, did you purchase "clean urine" to pass your test? Man, that's deplorable to imagine having your guns taken away, huh? Go figure. Right, you need them for "protection".
So what's your point. Trials cost money. Jails cost money. Do you advocate some deranged @sswipe running around shooting?
"Gunman cosidered armed and dangerous"............Ya think?
So much hatred on this page...yeah, it's really funny when some @!$%# goes around shooting...I know some of you haters will be surprised but not ALL cops are bad...making jokes about color and how bad the cops are just proves how a lot of you kids are.
Marty is right...anyone that complains about the law and especially how the police are so crooked is usually someone that has been caught doing something, and instead of taking responsibility, blames everyone else, especially the police.
It would be interesting to see how you guys would be if you needed to call the cops to save your asses...
"Bailey was described as a white male." Isn't that illegal racial profiling? If the description said "black male," it would have started a firestorm.
@The Truth and Nothing But The Truth
Har har. But this was in Indiana. Hard to imagine someone paying $20,000-$50,000 for a legal automatic weapon and then attack the cops.
More likely he just committed another felony by altering his semi auto weapon.
UncleBen-3793367
No wonder you people are so confused about racial profiling. Describing a criminal's look is not racial profiling, suspecting a certain race that they might commit a crime is racial profiling.
"What's the difference a white shooter and a shooter "of color"?"
A white shooter can afford an automatic weapon.
First, I'm assuming you meant difference. Second, the difference isn't the money, it's only the color of skin. But hey, what ever makes your balls feel bigger than they actually are.
oops my bad meant difference "between". Gosh my brain fart stinks this morning.
Have you noticed lately they only describe the suspects race if he/she is white, why is that? usually you have to wait for a picture to determinethe ethnicity. Iguess we have to look at the names to determin what to look for, in this case the suspect is white so they can say that without the NAACP throwing a fit.
Racial profiling is when you assume the criminal is of a certain ethnicity based on the crime, location, and history. Like when Zimmerman assumed Martin was a burgler because he was black and wondering around his neighborhood (flame on!).
Pretty soon they'll only be allowed to report on white people commiting crimes. Shouldn't whites riot over the police going after this piece of crap human? You know, like they do in California for gang members. And why all the hatred for the cops? I know some of them suck, but most of them are going after the right people.
@Serious Bizz.. You don't live in Detroit do you?? Obviously not. You would despise your own kind if you did. Sometimes racism is learned from life's experiences. Unfortunate but true.
They must have gotten the dog confused with an NBA player.
I will hope throughout today that this MF is killed by the police or by his own hand -- I couldn't care less. My first preference of course is that he face a police dog without a weapon while the cops look the other way until it's all over. And it would be all over in short order.
“Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”
Benjamin Franklin
Those who support non border checkpoints, recording cell phone conversations and monitoring emails without due process, even being questioned on how you choose to spend your own money, all in the name of "security" will never be truly safe nor free.
Not suprised you have to ask what my point is, considering you missed it. SWAT teams never kill anybody any more; all they do is "find them dead". It's a way to avoid liability. Hell, they've been using "suicide" as a euphemism when they shoot somebody for years now; why not take the next step and actually try to pass it off as one?
@EggsCalibur
You had one incident with one d-bag cop so naturally they all must be "Gestapo". Yeah, that makes sense.
Proportionally there are more ass holes in law enforcement than you'll find in most other professions because the power that comes with the position attracts those kinds of people. But the fact is that not all cops are bad. If we could just get the good ones to weed out the d-bags we'd be a lot better off but as long as people lump them all together and attack the whole group that will never happen.
And for the record, "Gestapo" would have involved beating you with his nightclub and dragging you into jail where you'd likely never be heard from again. Try to cut back on the ludicrous exaggeration and people might be able to take you seriously.
The angryguy, do you have proof of that? Why would Swat care? Liability please. I've seen Swat in action, you don't know what you're talking about
Weren't the Waco killings described as suicides because the government claimed the inhabitants "set themselves on fire"?
The shooter in this case had showed up at his soon to be ex-wife's house in body armor and with multiple assault weapons. He shot and killed some paint store owner who was driving by the house and then tried to break into his ex's house. Neighbors heard the gunshots when the guy driving by was shot and killed and called the police. The police never fired at him, he shot at them as soon as they got out of the car and then he ran off.
This guy was no innocent, the innocents in this case are the guy who was driving to work, the ex-wife who was home alone getting ready to go to work, and the officers who are required to show up when there is gunfire in a residental neighborhood is reported. The shooter is the one who planned and set this entire tragedy in motion, so I have no empathy for him whatsoever. It's just too bad he didn't just kill himself before he decided he had the right to be judge, jury, and executioner on people around him.
we are not talking about Chicago you know. Need I say more?
For those that dont understand about firearms: an AR15 is a rifle that fires a .233 (5.56 NATO) round. It is one of the popular rifles that are purchased today for those that want to think that they are "high speed" or "warriors" or "ready for the zombie apocalypse". I believe that is what they are referring to and it costs, brand new, about $1,000 depending on the makers and/or what the person puts on their rifle (scopes, etc.).
These posts never cease to amaze me...especially the amount of racists that are out there. Commenting that the guy was white? Really? How about laying out some statistics and then make a comment? Thought so
Proof that now that even people with serious mental illnesses have access to a computer.
Serious Bizz's point, for all you inbred hillbillies having this story read back to you by Cousin Jethro, the 6th Grade Grad and the smartest amongst yall 'necks, is that mass shootings are almost always committed by white males because they are least equiped to handle any real social adversity. Look back over the last 10 or 15 (or 20) mass shootings, all the Columbine and Aurora, CO shootings, all the random Gabby Giffords-type freak outs, all the Brevik white supremacist paranoid fits, and you will overwhelmingly find a crazy-azzed white guy bitching about how his life didn't work out as advertised in the so-called "American Dream". Well guess what Skippy: life never works as advertised, not if you're anything other than a white male in this country with no concept of history or no external observational skills. So if you can't hold it together in adverse times then maybe you all collectively should stop making everything about (in the words of your new leader Mitt Romney) "Anglo-Saxon culture" all the damn time and start helping out some of the other folk who happen to live here with your self-involved azzes.
It is truly a shame that an innocent person and a dog were killed by this disturbed a$$hole. The good thing is that at least the taxpayers won't have to pay to feed an house him for the rest of his life. Normally I would say "take him out back and shoot him", but he did it himself! Like I said before, it's too bad someone else had to die in the process.
your right,
however for every ONE of these white nutcases killing 10-15 people in the US randomly. there are about 1500 black perps killing 1500 other civilians. so you do the math on which is more of a travesty
@Desertmo
Like when people assumed Zimmerman was white .............right???
thanks for haveing on reply i love when they run there mouths an hide . i gave your comment a thumbs up
@Aggie
Right! Except it was always white-hispanic? Selling headlines and actual racial profiling are two different things.
Desertmo
True...But media profiled and made a point in labling Zimmerman a WHITE Hispanic. They claim Zimmerman "profiled" Trayvon as being black, hence, criminal...and I say the media and others "profiled" Zimmerman as well as if to say it was Z's only reason to observe Trayvon...when it was not. They made it appear that is was strictly race related. "White" man looking for a black man. I think we all can agree that had Martin been white, it probably wouldn't have even made the nightly local news. They could have said simply, "Hispanic". Would it not have been so sensational a story to simply say a Hispanic shot a black? I think we know the answer. Throw in the "white" and it gives the pot a stir. Do you think Sharpton or the Panthers would have shown up if it Zimmerman was described as simply Hispanic, or a brown Hispanic? Doubtful. But "WHITE"...here comes the Rev. and the Panthers, and marchers, protesters, etc. etc. etc. Then Obama's comment, "If I had a son......" only added to the BLACK vs White, because Obama is black....or not. What would he have said if Martin was white or Hispanic? NOTHING! Question: Since Zimmerman is described as white-Hispanic, is Obama a "white-black man" or a "black-white man"?
I may sound racist, but believe me, I've never had a racist bone in my body, but seems people like me are being tested every day, which is why all this "color" crap is offensive. If one doesn't' like Obama or his policies, or agenda...knee jerk reaction..."RACIST".
another NRA tea party guy on the run with his gun
Do you work for ABC News?
no but it was an easy assumption to make
Hmmm...Not sure if trolling or just fill in the blank
AP is reporting they got the guy in custody. There was a short stand off situation as he hid in an elderly womans house but he gave up without any more shooting. Good news there.
not a troll?
You are in fact a troll. You have absolutely no idea what party affiliation or ideology that the suspect has. So STFU with your bulls$$t comments.
I could just as easily assume from your comment that you are a Liberal Socialist pig that has no job and is now eating cheetos on a couch watching the TV and trolling on the internet with a computer all bought and paid for by my tax dollars.
What an ignorant statement...
YOUR RIGHT I have no proof, just an educated guess, but isnt that what this blog is all about?
Definitely a TROLL. No brain, no mind, no clue and no life. Being dumb and liberal is no way to go through life.
come on people, it must at least of crossed your minds or at least you must admit you can see why someone would think he could be one, don't you?
Where you get your facts ignorant. How you come up with your bias comment. You can't wait for any opportunity to attack tea party to any violent crime that happen. More violence are in the streets of Chicago and this is Obama turf.
not a troll
Is a troll. Let's face it. Always jumping to a political bull@!$%# comment because that is all IT knows.
If Mr. Not a Troll was actually educated to the point of "making an educated guess", IT would realise that the shooter, being from Pendelton/New Castle, a predominantly democratic city/county, is most likely not an NRA member and is most likely democrat.
An educated guess, based on the limited information given in the article, would be that the suspect, Jim Kenneth Bailey of New Castle had yet another domestic disturbance that this time went too far.
Schmuck.
It's a stupid comment Troll. Chicago with one of the toughest Gun Laws in the country has a murder rate that about equals the military people we've lost in Afghanistan. New York, about the same. isn't it funny when it's a white guy shooting its automatically a tea partier. What about all those black on black crimes who probably vote for obama?
Or.....maybe govt manufactured propaganda aimed at scaring all you, that guns are bad! Remember the UN treaty is coming up!
Not a Troll,
You may want to consider a new name dude.
Also, I love my guns. The Anti-NRA people just don't get it. I've never shot at anyone in my 49 yrs on earth but, if a guy (as in this story) takes aim at me, at least I'll have a better chance than the Anti-NRA rock throwers.
Have a nice weekend.
Indiana's lax gun control laws contribute to the problem in Chicago that the gunners are so fond of when making an example of gun violence being widespread. I think not a troll is just doing what a lot of conservatives do when making comments about all muslims being terrorists............remember all the lists that "profile" muslims. How does it feel now that the chickens come home to roost?
not a troll got all of your panties in a bunch. Brilliant.
Creek Dog,
Provided that you are aware that the person is taking aim, if not your NRA spewing is meaningless.
I hope the Chief of Police has given the order, "Shoot to kill."
Rod_Father,
I take it you're a good aim with rocks.
Little League as a kid?
Why are you people putting a troll on a pedestal?
For whoever said it: If it wasn't for opinions or takes on a subject, these post-ops would not exist.
Now, will someone please tell me what the definition for a "Troll" is.
Getting back on subject: Somewhere out there is a nut running around with a gun that has shot two policemen and a police dog; THIS MEANS THERE IS A DANGER IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD. Take the warning, watch your butt and tie down your watch-dog. THAT IS THE PURP0SE OF THE ARTICLE.
Since you asked D-I.
The UN Arms Trade treaty deals only with international sale and transfer of weapons (for example, the Fast and Furious debacle). It has nothing to do with restricting Americans' second amendment rights. As the President has said, if he wanted to enact gun control legislation, he'd have done it in the first two years of his administration, when the Dems had control of both House and Senate, and it would have been easy.
Not a Troll, just another liberal fascist that wants to trash the constitution so everyone can live enslaved and in peace like the Chinese do. Ready to lay down and die for his govt. like so many others have when they aren't allowed to have weapons in their country.
Really. L-F myself.
Have a good day,
CD
My guess is that this guy on the run after shooting two cops also "loves" his guns. Go figure.
@marklepew
What's your point? Is it wrong or isn't it? Last time I checked "they do it too" wasn't a valid excuse for anything.
Too bad that in your haste to toss out rhetoric you failed to grasp the basics of that UN Arms Treaty, thus making anything you say nonsense.
All the "gun laws" in the world will NOT cure insane people or prevent them from finding and using one. And keep in mind criminals don't follow ANY laws, what would make one think they would comply with stricter gun laws? If they ban guns here, they'll get them elsewhere and then ONLY the criminals and criminally insane will have the guns. That leaves the rest of us at their mercy, so the criminals have no worries that someone just MAY be armed and can defend themselves.
The dog is considered a policeman. Just hit one and be charged with assault on a law enforcement officer. He could get the death sentence for killing the dog. After shooting two officers and killing a police dog, the officers looking for him will be high alert. His chances of being taken alive are slim and none. I'm for the officers. I hope all go home unhurt and they take no chances. Order him to surrender and if he doesn't, then open fire. Just one more scum bag taken out of our society.
agree he will either shoot himself or be killed by the police most likely unless he gives himself up and he doesnt seem like he is the type to do that
Ya, the man hunt is over. He shot himself as expected.
The death penalty for shooting a dog?? Oh yeah, this is America we're talking about...
what about the piles of abuses police have been heaping on the public in the past 10 years?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVmGWLsn0iM
What about the piles of abuses the public has ALWAYS heeped on police officers?
A YouTubve video? what a laugh. A edited 10 snip and you think it's an entire case. simply shows how ignorent some of today's peopple have become. Probasbply pissed they were thtrown ouit of someone's park after screwing it up. The "I Want It Free" crowd.
Another nut with a gun. Several per day make the news. When will we learn? Thanks NRA, Thanks GOP. Thanks gun nuts.
So just WHY can't the victims sue the gun shops, gun manufacturers, irresponsible gun owners (that means ALL gun owners), NRA and GOP for MAKING GUNS SUCH A DANGER to us all?
Couldn't agree more.
The dog was a police officer just like any other, and gave his life for the common human - many of whom made idiotic comments about it right here in this forum.
I'm tired of people complaining about policemen. They deal with the lowest forms of human trash on a daily basis. Do they become jaded and cold? You bet they do.
If you think you can do better - go sign up.
Marty, my thoughts and prayers are with you and Kilo. You are a great public servant and a wonderful person. My family has been blessed to have you in our lives. Thanks again for all you do!
With Love, Sherry from STL.
Indigokid, please explain how was it good for the "common human" when those cops beat that homeless guy to death.
@SRS-798254 --- And while you're at it stool sample start suing auto dealerships and auto manufacturers since people are killed in traffic accidents. If it wasn't for them damned cars and car salesmen innocent people wouldn't die in traffic collisions.
SRS-798254
When will you learn to stop blaming other people and/or things for your short commings in life. Let's start with you being more responsible for your own self first before you blame others. But maybe you can blame your parents for giving you such a small package (either sex).
scalzo, if you're gonna call people ignorant it would help your argument if you spelled it correctly. or better yet, since you don't know how to spell, stop calling others what you are.
NCvet, don't leave out the alcohol manufacturers for making booze that enables drunk driving deaths, cell phone makers and cell phone companies for all the deaths caused by driving while texting or talking on a cell phone. How about Coke and Pepsico or Mcdonalds? Surely someone somewhere had a wreck while drinking a Coke, or eating fast food, instead of having both hands on the steering wheel. The lawsuits could be endless. A lawyers wet dream come true.
We had one a few years ago in FL.the shooter killed the deputy and the dog. When they found him he didn't surrender fast enough. 120+ shots at him and I think he was hit 70+ times and killed. I complained to the deputies about this and said they should go to the firing range for more practice they only had about a 69% hit ratio.
Would the NRA like to explain again why the average citizen needs to own a semi automatic, or automatic weapon. They're of no use in hunting.
@Lady Cat
The "average citizen" can't own an automatic weapon without going through a series of steps to insure they aren't a nut case. Semi-automatic weapons ARE of considerable use in hunting, they allow you a quick second shot if needed and of course they are extremely useful for self defense. You do realize the Founding Fathers didn't write the Second Amendment so people would be able to go hunting right?

How is that working for us. Seems the nut-cases are managing to get their hands on a lot of semi automatics. i e check out the nut case in MD today,
Lady Cat:
The day our government/law enforcement and military are not allowed to carry guns domestically, is the day I may be willing to consider restrictions on my guns, but that would be a cold day in hell for either of those to happen.
And btw, as a lover of animals, I would never use my weapons for hunting.
the only good cop is a dead one!
@SIESTASIS
You do realize that this is a country of 300 million people right? Yeah, a few of the nut cases are going to slip through the cracks. Do you actually believe everyone should lose their rights because 2 out of 311,000,000 people went nuts with a semi-automatic rifle? Really?
it's been a lot more than 2.

The police should make sure this person never makes it to the court room so he can't get off lightly.
That would be quite efficient, and fiscally prudent. And, he can be composted, so he actually will have some usefulness in his life for the first time.
I"ll bet joejoe and mymom are pro life proponents. It must be very nice when you go to church and pray but it must be hard to reconcile your brain with the conflicting positions
People can call themselves Christians and still be in the GOP. I know. It boggles the mind. Sort of like the Pope trying to shut up the nuns advocating social justice because they won't make abortion their primary focus.
Strange when the POPE is not a CHRISTIAN!
marklepew
So um you are against life? It must be hard for you to reconcile your brain with your conflicting positions as well. Just saying............
When they catch him they can use him as the dummy to train new police dogs how to attack, then for more punishment they can force him to read and memorize every post ever made by Not A Troll, after that he can be declared insane and sent to the state asylum.
marklepew,
One is an innocent baby, the other is a murderer. Do you still see conflicting positions?
Mr. Burns & Thepunster 23489u8460576-097-50
Thou shalt not kill............unless he is a murderer. show me that in the big ten. Hey I'm for the death penalty and pro choice........"kill at will" at least I'm consistent not like your dichotomy
Save the taxpayers money. Shoot him down in the streets and be done with it. It's time to set an example.
Yeah Man! Um....did it occur to anyone that we have no idea what this is about? So if it turns out that the guy had a legitimate reason to defend himself, what will you haters do then? If you end up in the same situation, please know how many people, and I use the term liberally, will happily wish your death and blood in the streets. Yes you. All of you that say such horrible violent things. Similar people will absolutely cheer when you eat a sidewalk sandwich.
I agree. Shoot anyone we don't like without trial. I would start with the NRA...
This was in the mail today. Is it true?
U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.
The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the osition of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.
On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States. The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress.
Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms.
The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws.
Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will beno publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public? We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.
This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control.
Please forward this message to others who may be concerned about the direction in which our country is headed.
We are being led like a lamb to the slaughter (Socialism/Dictatorship).
@Cindy-2887654
So you start by asking if it is true but then you finish by telling everyone to pass it on, even though you apparently don't know if it's true. Sounds to me like you are full of @!$%# and you know it.
There is no way in hell the Campaigner in Chief is going to support an action like this 4 months before the election. The very idea, as well as your entire post, is ridiculous.
Why would anyone post a moronic e-mail without factchecking it? It's not true & something circulated very similar to this e-mail back in 2009. Have we lost our gun rights since then?
I've been getting those daily from the NRA. Along with the wine and insurance of the week pitches. Did anyone even bother to read what it involves? No effect on our laws.
Cindy - what kind of mailing list are you on?
It will be interesting to see if it truly was an automatic weapon. This man shold never get out of jail.
10:1 its a semi-auto not an auto.
Read the article he killed himself behind his ex's home.
Why did he need to say that Homeland Security was also involve , It may be in the same building but is it now also involved with what on the surface seems to be a issue for normal local law enforcment .
Hopfully he's just title dropping so we think he's important , if not then THIS is news to me
Homeland Security was created to keep us in check. It was sold to the public as a terrorist prevention mechanism. It has some frightening broad sweeping freedoms to violate our constitutional rights whenever and however the "powers that be" want to.
When you hear "Homeland Security", think: Gestapo, Stasi, FSB (formerly KGB), and MI5.
I'm not yanking anyones chain like I was in comment # 2.4 above.
Devls,
What about the sleeper cells that have been detected? What about the terrorism's that whave been thwarted?
This must simply be your opinion because there is proof that what you state, the reality is the opposite of your belief.
The ONLY person to vote against the Patriot Act was Russ Feingold. He got beat by Tea Bagger nutcase Ron Johnson who loudly supported it.
WHO was really for FREEDOM?
Creek
Yes, sleeper cells and terrorist plots have been thwarted. I am not doubting that.
I understand your reluctance to the notion. I implore you to educate yourself on the issue. Read the State Department's documents available on their website. I want to expound further but am running late for work. Catch up with you later.have a good day..

Heres a starting point. Recent; http://projects.washingtonpost.com/top-secret-america/articles/a-hidden-world-growing-beyond-control/
Devls,
I Understand what you read and want to believe some true, some false. I work for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. (PANYNJ).
There is a lot of suspicious activity that "Must" be checked out. The problem is, there are a lot of people that feel "profiled" or do/act stupid and need to be checked out then, they complain not realizing the Homeland Security has a job to do and by their stupid activity, raise inadvertent suspicion. They are not a professional in security thus feeling like they're being targeted. Then you'll read such things that they want to to believe such as the link you sent me. Unfortunately there is corruption wherever you go and in all and every profession which is another part of the link.
The guys that got on the plane that flew into the towers were suspicious and questioned but left to board the planes. The ramifications we learned from that (and the rest of that fateful day) were implemented in our training now. There are "WAY" too many things going on today from Disney World to Subways and even though they do not know how many Homeland Security personnel there are, there still aren't enough to cover all the bases.
Trust me when I say, "There's going to be another big one". Don't know where or when, just hope we can thwart it. If not, It'll be Homeland Security's fault (as per certain people) yet, they write articles like the link you sent and some say we're a joke.
Terrorists are getting smarter, sleeker and everyday, are figuring out ways to sneak one in. They are going to college in the USA and other countries to get educated on technology. They act like you and me but when it comes time, they'll be as intelligent as a computer scientist and as I mentioned, able to sneak one in.
It'll take this person 10+ yrs of their life just for that one moment and they're already convinced that seconds after the big one, they'll be in Paradise such as Hawaii with a drink in their hand and their toes in the sand next to Allah. Yes, they actually believe that. Their families will be awarded and they will go down in their country's history as a martyr.
I respect your beliefs. We all have them or this world would be one boroing ass place to live.
Gotta go. Have a good weekend.

In many ways, America sucks.
You're free to leave...no one is holding you back...
You are actually correct in your statement "In many ways America sucks". But stating it on a blog like this is only inviting a bunch of patriotic rhetoric and attacks.
I'm American. Fourth generation Italian actually. My great grandfather immigrated from Italy LEGALLY, and was invited/encouraged to do so because our country needed a larger work force.
Trust me, I'm glad I was born here, and happy that I live here. I have served my country honorably in the military, as have every generation in my family. In fact my other great grandfather was a MOH recipient for his service during the Boxer Rebellion (Marine Corps.)But I am not "proud to be an American" by any stretch. Read my comment #7.1 and you may get an idea of what I am talking about. We have many freedoms that other countries do not have, but we are not truly free.
I'm staying. Those of you who invite me to leave can kiss my ass too. I am ready and willing to fully exercise my second amendment rights.
So many flag waiving patriots without a clue. We lead the world in number of people incarcerated and fat people. Personally, I love that 50% of Americans make minimum wage. The smelly peasants should be thankful that they even have a job. I would hate to have endure 4 - 6 weeks of paid vacation per year and nearly full medical and dental benefits as most Europeans have. Oh, and the grueling 35 hour work week that Europe has along with retiring by the age of 55, oh the humanity! And now the SMIC (minimum wage) in France is 9.4 Euros/hour, about $12.00. You're clearly right DietrichtheKaiser, this country rocks! Call me when you have enlightened yourself and have seen more than the outskirts of your town, Jerkwater, USA. Nevermind. I can't believe I'm posting here. You guys probably believe everything you see on NBC.
cunninglinguist2u,
well said.....
#8.2 "I am ready and willing to fully exercise my second amendment rights" What might they be? The right to brandish a weapon, intimidate, harass and maybe shoot someone else at your sole discretion? Where is that written in the Sacred Second?
cunning, only the job creators deserve to take vacations, only the little people need work all the time. I do find it interesting that President Obama donates $117,000 to Fisher House to support veterans............. while R-money takes a tax deduction of $71,000 for his horse's dance lessons
cunning...you are ignorrant to the facts. having spent over 10 years in europe working among union aircraft workers i saw 1st hand what they make. it hardly works out to $12 an hour. average pay for a mechanic was around $800 a month. there is no incentive whatsoever. the guys sitting in the break room all day draw the sme pay as the guy staying busy working his job all day. they got the entire month of august off....which was nice if you had the money to enjoy it. i saw all kinds of ways to earn on the side. selling phones in the plant, phone cards, coins, olive oil, cheese...hell it was like a dollar store in there. but these guys were thrilled to pick up an extra 5 to 10 euros a day on the side. as far as free hospital? another joke. my good friends wife had a brain tumor and had to wait almost 9 months before she could get in for surgery. now had she been rich she could have been taken care of right away by either coming to america or using a private doctor there. the guy sweeping the hospital floor was the same guy who removed stitches from a friends head. i know this because i took her there myself as she had no car and no money for the bus. the general public was allowed to own handguns but only after a long drawnout process. so this left the mafia free to run the show. every small biz payed 10% monthly and trust me they paid up or went away. i saw nothing wrong with the educational system as i had no kids enrolled. they did however attend school on saturday. and back to med care....the nurses were mostly nuns....poorly paid if at all. the 35 hour work week you spoke of? another ignorrant statement. there were 2 shifts...6 to 2....2 to 10 and they all but begged to work extra hours. on the otherhand...if you were rich then trust me...europe is the place to be. far far better food...fresh fruit and veggies that america hasnt seen in 40 years...unless of course you raise your own. awesome wine...cheese etc. gasoline at the time was about $8 a gallon...much higher today. i still go back yearly to visit my friends and enjoy their lifestyle. but my point is dont make it look so rosey with all the free med care etc. not happening. so you libs out there get ready....keep voting for obumma and the socialist party and soon enuff you will all see this 1st hand. its already happening. personally i think its too late...we are already steaming toward socialism. you lib idiots are following opra and ellen and all the rich west coast and east coast stars down a path to hell. just remember 1 thing tho....those folks have the bucks and can afford villas in france and italy or wherever the choose. and if you think for 1 second that they will invite you along then you better wake up. you are gona be stuck right here standing in long lines to get your assistance along with all of your other ignorant lib puppets. i am also glad i was born here. now i have the rare opportunity to go back if i choose because i still maintain my resident staus overseas. so if you dont believe me go see for yourselves. get off the beaten path and follow the daily life of the average european. its not a horrible life by any means but if you do your homework and really see 1st hand what life there is really about then you may change your vote. but then lets be realistic...most of you prefer to live off the system and have big brother running your daily lives and providing for you and your family just enuff to get by. just not for me is all im saying.
WTF European country were you in? I've personally been in Europe over 30 times in the last 20 years-germany, Sweden, the UK, Italy and can assure you life there isn't at all grim like you state. and, no, Gas is not "much higher" than $8/gallon-at least not two weeks ago, when I was last there (Sweden/Poland). Higher taxes-yes-but look if you dare at what they get for it...fantastic highways, great health care, paid college tuition......On health care: If enough people keep saying that we have the best health care in the world, maybe that will make it true. Tell that to the 63/61 year old couple I know who recently lost their jobs and health care and are facing $2000/month insurance costs due to minor pre-existing conditions.
Keep it up, America-keep fear and ignorance alive.
Best health care in the world? NOBODY that actually LOOKS at health care thinks that. Only LYING GOP senators spout THAN NONSENSE!
We are somewhere between 20th and 30th, depending who you ask.
save the environment
In many ways, America sucks.
eh.....Every country has their turds.........But I'm assuming you meant US of America, otherwise your statement inlcudes all the countries in America.
@Dietrich....
LMFAO !!!!! well put sir, best one yet
A little feedback for your efforts which I thank you all for:
Dietrich, I’m thinking about it. If you have any German roots according to your name you’ll understand: I’ll go live where the Gods live.
Devilsadvocate: Thank you for your Service. I wish VA takes better care of people like you. Nobody deserves it more as citizens. Also thank you for “holding the line”, you are still serving! don’t go angrily about it but yes: they should kiss your arse. This country can be and probably still is the best country to live in on Earth. It is in decline though, with big structural issues in my opinion ( another big subject) .
Cunninglinguist: Americans are overall quite ethnocentric. They buy the marketing image the nation
projects which started after WW2. America did save the world after all. Nationalism is a feel- good concept from which people draw strength and pride and self esteem. If they need it I say let it be, you know me I don’t complain. Then there are courageous people like Devilsadvocate who most likely traveled through the military and end up having a well rounded perspective on many aspects of life. I like soldiers a lot for that reason. The police which has a high level of ex military has an unfair task in policing the citizenry, forcing them to forcefulness curatively or preventatively and getting a negative image for it. I know
countries where cops are actually close to the people and vice versa. Too many people have guns that shouldn’t have any. I wish there were more soldiers in Congress, stuff would get done without all the prancing and BS, but then again many if not most in Congress never had bullets zipping by their ears, more of the sound of money.
GodlovesLosers. My guess is Gun Carrier was working in Eastern Europe, not Western Europe, which is more like Russia than France or Germany( the Brits don't counts, they are floatiing away on their island, just kidding),(the bartering and selling at the work place is a good indicator of it, under communist Russia people worked 8 hours the least efforts possible and worked their asses off on the side to produce and barter or sell, old habits die hard)
Drugaddict : stop doing that, it’s bad for you.
You shot two cops, your getting the death penalty. WTF is wrong with people???
The guy already killed himself, according to wthr.com
Maybe he got a good deal, on the Fast and Furious guns sales!
Give it up. F & F gave out a few hundred guns. That was a fraction of what's down there. No doubt Mwexico NEVER had any guns before that point.
Fast and furious was the US government under Obama and Holder making "evidence" that legal guns sold in the US are being used by narco terrorist in Mexico. It was a step towards gun control, which Clinton will be enacting when she signs the UN gun control treaty. This treaty will have force of law until it is voted on by the US Congress. The house will vote it down, but Harry Reid will not allow it to be voted on in the Senate, so it will ipso facto become law.
And we have another NRA member with his automatic weapon.
Unlikely it is an automatic weapon, most likely it is a semi-automatic.
why should my rights be terminated because an idiot shoots people, if some one is stabbed should we come to your house and take your knifes?would it make liberals happy if all killers threw there victims out of windows instead, then we could ban tall building, people who want to kill will find away to kill no matter how many stupid laws we pass. but instead we have liberals who run to there computers begging the government to take away more of our rights. till finally we have none. its called communism
ru: there's a big difference between shooting people and throwing people out of tall buildings. (1) you can't conceal a tall building in your pocket; (2) most tall buildings do not have opearble windows; (3) if attacked, you would at least have a fighting chance (4) murder more often occurs in suburbs, ghettos and places that have generally desperate people. If you work in a tall building, chances are you are making a living and not too desperate.
The possibility that we will all drift into an actual communist government is nill. Why not read your high school world history and try to educate yourself about the conditions that led to communism in foreign lands and why it has largely failed across the globe. Then again, perhaps you prefer to blather before you read.
Not anti -gun coming from a farming family but everything needs some thought and logic , but for all the statements made about all the things that you can be killed with its the gun ability to reach out and touch . If your close enough to see the gun you woun't see the bullet , you may never see the shooter or the gun due to distance yet your shot just the same
you may fight off the knife attack , and how many people can one throw out of a building with ease
yet reaching out with a bullet is as easy as point and pull . Then it becomes an issue numbers . When was the last time 12 people were killed and 40+ injured in a knife attack , or the same number tossed off the roof of a high rise .
So really , tell me ,is it really OK to say sorry they all died but things are fine the way they are . we know gun control will never ever work YET the NRA offers NOTHING at all other than comments meant to incite their union of gun owners
Sad that people sling names and make what are mean spirited comments at people just looking for a way ease the number of painful events in what is all of ours country
And just as we fault the good muslum for not policing and reporting their own then why not fault the gun store owner for not reporting that nice looking white man that clearly wasn't quite right
cal680..don't be so ignorant.
"Another NRA member with his automatic weapon". Really? Do you truly believe this guy is a member of the NRA? I doubt it.
and taxpayer-834311
What kind of statement is that? How about the janitor working in that tall building who is living on minimum wage? How about that attorney on the 38th floor who just found out his wife is @!$%#ing his neighbor? How about the woman in 302 who just found out she has breast cancer? No desperation there, right?
The fact is nut cases come from ALL walks of life, and people who "snap" come from ALL walks of life and can "snap" anywhere at anytime.
I was correct that the shooter would kill himself, chances are I will be correct about identifing him as a NRA tea party guy, of course will have to wait and see.
I agree, it was probably one of the illegal guns Holder and Obama felt free to distribute to criminals.
ooomy it might be one of the weapons Reagan supplied when he was selling cocaine to finance his private war down in central america
No. It is probably the gun he bought at the Walmart.
THAT IS THE PROBLEM. You don't NEED to do anything extraordinary to get a gun.
PRE-PURCHASE PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMS with ANNUAL FOLLOW-UP.
THAT will keep us ALL safe. You SANE gun owners (I hear there may be one) will have NOTHING TO FEAR!
@SRS-798254 --- Please purge your bowels prior to posting. Your posts smell like you're getting the two functions confused.
cal680-1105121
And we have another NRA member with his automatic weapon.
Really? If you're that smart, what are you doing on this vine spewing turd? You should run for president of the US.
"THAT will keep us ALL safe."
That's an oxymoron. If you can GUARANTEE that we will all be safe once we implement all these gun control laws then i'm with you. Will you be willing to back that statement up with your life?
I thought guns saved people's lives. I mean the the police officer were trained at handling fire arms and o it for a living yet there guns didn't save them. Could it be the theory a gun in the hands of a untrained/undertrained person will save a life is insane?
LOL. Hamuel many of the civilian firearm owners are better trained and have more practice than your average cop. I have plenty of cops in my family and I can tell you I practice more in a month than they are allowed to in a year. Guns are one of many tools an officer has and fortunately for them one of the least used.
Going out to the firing range DOES NOT make a civilian TRAINED at handling a firearm. It does give them very limited practive at hitting a target. The point was a person that had training and experince being in adreneal pump situation was killed another person with a gun. How can you expect the average Consealed weapons owner to handle the situation with out killing himself or by stand if trained and experianced profesnials can't? Civilians don't need firearms they don't make us safer. There are better options like less lethals that civilians can carry that are perfect for there training and experiance
The "rules of engagement" are such that a lot of cops are afraid to draw their weapons for fear of repercussions. Same problem with our soldiers in the Middle East who want to get the job done, but can't do to the fear of a court-martial.
More guns... When will this fascination and obsession with guns end in this fricken country?
And this just happened... http://wegoted.com/blog/default.asp?NID=1623
NEVER at least not in our life times in this country
I have to agree with you, not a troll. I'm just not a gun person... They're great for hunting and such... It's just got out of control. And the pro-gun people offer no solutions.
Sure they do. Penalize real criminals and leave law abiding citizens with a means to protect themselves. Unless of course you think banning firearms will rid the country of crazy people and criminals.
Penalize the gun criminals after the fact, yeah, of course. Unfortunately, with that mentality, more people are dead or injured. Where's the prevention? And using logic/facts? No? Damn....
I'm gonna grab my Glock 22 (40S&W) and jack off. The way the action slides and the way it feels in my hand with a full clip. Hard, firm, yet soft because of the plastic grips. I can't get enough.
Highly unlikely this person will surrender without a fight. He should be given one warning followed by one shot. Save the taxpayers the cost of keeping him housed and fed for the next fifty years.
I think the warning is completely unnecessary.
to those seeking blood, the police would rather catch him alive, the one thing most of them want is to never have to kill some one, i know there are bad apples , but most of the police are fine men and women, risking their lives to protect people , even the ones who want them dead, first responders are the hero's of this country
Agreed... but the "bad apple" bunch is high most anywhere you go. Police have a bad reputation in this country, and it's getting worse.
1. Catch him alive............there are hundreds of lawyers waiting to defend him and his rights........need to keep the legal economy rolling along after all.
2. Then send him to prison where the innocent people in Indiana can pay to support him for the rest of his life..........need to keep the prison workers employed after all.
3. Then promote more gun sales so at least a few of those new gun owners go whacko and start at #1 to keep the system rolling along.
Typical MSNBC "no-news" story. What was the original problem - was the guy being arrested for murder or jaywalking? Way too many cases where the cops come in playing Rambo and end up killing someone innocent/totally uninvolved. Remember last week, the break into the wrong house, when the homeowner tries to defend himself (rightly), the cops kill him. Then they say "you pull a gun on a cop, you gonna die" as their justification. Was this one of those cases? Since this is apparently a small town, maybe a grudge match? Just no information, other than someone shot a dog and a couple of cops.
Gunmaggeddon has been with us since the "one second to dismemberment", sometimes known as the "Second Amendment", has been with us. Ah what's the use. I'm just a sad, angry American trying to make sense of all the violence and mayhem in our great nation.
Knightarm
There is no way to make sense of the violence.
You'd have to be an idiot to even CONSIDER shooting a police officer...the people now looking for him are not only ticked cause two of their brothers have been shot, but the dog too??? Even if he's taken alive, he's not going to be treated well...not that he deserves any better.
Ok folks, nothing to see here. It's all over.
My condolences to the officers wounded and killed (K-9 Kilo).
While it's horrible the dog was killed and officers shot...
A police dog named 'Kilo'...really?
Probably a drug dog.
lmao @ Kilo"probably a drug dog" -- more likely i think it is the code name for "K" as in k-9 hence the name kilo.
I read lots of posts here answered by no doubt cops who feel offended with people bashing police behavior
we all know there are good cops who do their job and take their responsability very serious for and to the community (real cops and the fewer) and the hated cops who have earned the citizens hate because they are a bunch of cowards with gun and badges; now; watch how interstingly the real cops in this forum will agree with my post where the cowards will readily trash it
I have no had run ins with cops because i abide by the law even if it is stupid, still the law and like someone else said before if we don't like it; we go and change it and that is what hopefully we all go and do in November.
I do not look funny or suspicios about myself and I have been treated like dirt and bullied by one of those cowards cops before about a year ago in a traffic stop for 10 miles over; He was a jerk but my subtle ways and because the cool handling of the situation he let me walk with a warning after he 'easy out" but he was uncut, rude and at best unprofessional about the way he started the stop.
cops tends to forgot that the general public pays their misserable salary and that was not me or anyone of us who convinced them to go to the force; it was their choice; with a responsability that high there comes lot of compromise to the people they "serve" and when cops tend to show they only serve the state and not so much the people; well guess what, as a simple rule if you want respect; show respect first; or at least that is how i was educated, now i might be wrong but THE MAJORITY of cops today shows no respect for regular people they stop for whatever reason; there is nothing macho about displaying an arsenal of weaponary in your tool belts and a badge when what hides behind it is a scum bag disrespectful POS.
on the other hand for those of you who are truly trained in the understanding of that difficult task of policing and down to earth about the meaning of your job; my best regards and apreciation; keep up the good work.
"A Madison County police spokesperson told NBC News that the suspect was considered armed and dangerous." Dah, ya think?
Guns! Guns! Guns! We need more guns! Everyone should be required to own at least one assault weapon! THEN we won't screw with one another, RIGHT? Get yours today! That's because guns don't kill people, right NRA???
Rignt on there Ed. Guns guns guns. All I can say is this guy was lucky to be carrying an asault rifle when that vicious killer cop hound went beserk . I do agree with you that guns are an essential part of our daily life and one per family may still not be considered as safe. I would say at least 3 would be a reasonably figure to ensure no dogs problems.
You're a moron. And your boy and all his clowns are out in November dickhead.
Our Forefathers, that wrote the 2nd amendment, were not members of the NRA, or a bunch of "gun nuts". They had a very sound reason. They had seen, first hand, what a corrupt government could do. It was put there for WE THE PEOPLE to have a way to protect ourselves from tyranny. I'm tired of all you gun control idiots.
Good point. The second amendment states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." They were talking about people FORMING A MILITIA using muzzleloaders - not the "right" of people to have as many semi-automatics as they would like.
.
OK then lets issue muzzle loaders to our police and military, that's all they really need
SAM ADAMS..lol,dude in those days they did not know what a semi or automatic weapon was.
They had cannons ,with or without chains. Pepper guns, which were somewhat like shotguns. Oh so many weapons throughout history capable of mass casualties. Some in cans, barrels, liquids, and other assorted means of destruction. Large crossbows and catapults have always been cool. P.S. He killed a cop under the law and more than likely would have gotten life.
Clueless people repeating the old "MILITIA" crap without know the definition of militia.
0 USC § 311 - MILITIA: COMPOSITION AND CLASSES
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.
and the gatling gun was made 70 years later. People knew it was going to happen when the constitution was signed. it wasn't a pie in the sky idea back then
Of course it was legal (and still is in most staes) to own your own CANNON!!
oh yeah and this littel tid bit about conceled firearms.. They were around when the second was made we issued pistols to the us army in 1799
I guess Indiana doesn't have "Stand your ground Laws for dogs. Hu?
More here would rather have you shot.
You're expendable R scabies.
Kudos to the boys in blue. Condolences to the victims and their families. Dead perp is a good thing.
Sad about the dog. I did hear that the dead dog left 23 widows and 125 dependant pups. Cops must have been hiding behind the police poodle.
