In his first hours of freedom following a two-month stint behind bars, a North Carolina man didn't even make it past the jail grounds before getting thrown back in.

Rodney Dwayne Valentine faces 75 more days in jail for trespassing after refusing to leave.
Rodney Dwayne Valentine, 37, who has no permanent address, had been in Rockingham County jail since May 22 for injury to personal property, Rockingham County Sheriff's Office Deputy Kevin Suthard said.
He was released last Saturday around 8 a.m. but stuck around for five hours arguing with officers, insisting they drive him to a motel. They refused.
"We can't transport everybody that gets out of jail," Suthard told NBC News.
Valentine was charged with second-degree trespassing and is being held on $500 bail. He could face up to 75 more days in jail and a fine.
"It takes all kinds. That's the reason why our job is never boring in law enforcement," Suthard said.

Whether they get 3 gourmet meals or @!$%# I can tell you something about people. Some continue like they are teenagers for decades. They keep making stupid choices and end up in a situation where jail is a viable alternative to dealing with life on your own. Some take to being full time recipients of health care.True! Being a patient as a lifestyle.
Welcome to Obama's America where people would rather live inside a jail than outside of it.
I have to say as a small business owner I know the feeling.
Hey, someone sign this guy up to be president!
well, i think there should be a transport van, that runs either twice aday or once, but to at least back into town,,,if the county jail is 20 miles in the country, like are's here is, it would make since
Law enforcement is the most expensive social program of all. $30k+ a year to keep someone in a jail plus they get basically the same healthcare you would get at a VA hospital... all on our dime. People cry and moan about food stamps and welfare but the truth is that 95% of that money just goes right back into the community. Will Rodgers I believe said it... Money does not trickle down. It trickles up. Give a poor man money and by the end of the day the rich will have it back in their hands anyway.
Perfect example of 'too busy' to give the guy a ride... yet they have plenty of time to baby sit him for 75 days on our dime. This is all about POWER and CONTROL. They didn't want to do what the man wanted. So now the tax payers get to pour out a ton more money. It's not worth thousands of dollars to make an example out of someone. This is a HORRIBLE use of our tax dollars and he will FOR SURE be out once again in our streets. No use treating him like garbage because it simply doesn't make things better.
I feel as if many people want to run our country based on spite. Have some compassion. Give the guy a ride and then be done with it. Instead now more court costs and taxpayers footing the bill until he gets out again and inevitabily does something else stupid (but not violent) and we pay once again.
The idiot cops who couldn't give the man a ride and now will cost us thousands of dollars to keep in jail longer say "this is the reason our job is not boring."... Because you are pennywise and dollar foolish? That you say you don't have time to give a guy a 20 minute ride but you have time to baby sit him for $75 days and tie up a bunch of lawyers and courts?????
Cops need to leave their ego and power trips at the door and start working for the people. And that means de-esclating situations and avoiding dragging people into court when there are simple alternatives. No wonder people begin so frustrated and angry then give the cops no respect... which makes them jerks all the more. Bogus.
