Kevin Cleeves
Three people were shot dead Friday night in rural Pennsylvania, state police said Saturday, and the suspect was later arrested after fleeing with his four-year-old daughter. One of the dead reportedly was the child's mother.
Kevin Cleeves, 35, was under arrest and his daughter was safe in police custody, NBC affiliate WGAL TV reported.
During the search for Cleeves, police also initiated an Amber Alert for the child.
The shootings happened in Quincy Township and Cleeves was arrested some 250 miles away in Austintown, Ohio.
Police said Cleeves had argued with the victims Friday night when he went to pick up his daughter from his wife, the Record Herald of Waynesboro, Pa., reported.
The dead were identified as Brandi Cleeves, Vincent Santucci and Rosemary Holma, the Record Herald stated.
Austintown, Ohio, Police Chief Bob Gavalier talks about the arrest.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown, Md., reported the court documents indicate Brandi Cleeves was the child's mother and Cleeves' wife.
Austintown Police Chief Bob Gavalier said it was his understanding that the Cleeves were separated, and that Santucci was Brandi Cleeves' boyfriend and that Holma was his mother.
More details were expected to be released later Saturday.

Damn republicans still want to hang on to their guns. Good
luck with that. You will never see the end of the killings dumbos
I live in Oregon and we are all Liberals here. We also like our guns, guns are not a Republican thing, they are an American thing! Maybe the problem is your unamerican... In case you didn't know, gun rights are in the Constitution...
No one has the right to kill people in an arguement. If he didn't have a gun, he couldn't have shot his wife and friends. Guns are made to kill. Too many people have guns like toys for domination.
If a state can not deprive me of my life without due process, then you are equally bound by that. When you exorcise your 2end amendment, and that deprives me in anyway of my 14th, then you have no legs to stand on.
If you discharge a weapon, you have the possibility of depriving them of life. No one has liberty when they are dead and I doubt vary much so that they are happy they are dead. Add to that the fact that upon death from a gunshot they where not afforded their right to due process?
Dose my 14th example sound misinterpreted? Yeah, Well, no more then your interpretation of the 2end.
Well Julea guns are an American RIGHT! Period! It is true too many people die from being shot. However with your way of thinking 30,000 people die from drunk drivers every year... should we take away everyones cars? That is a solution... NOT! We tried taking away everyones booze during Prohibition... Hmmm... that didn't work...
If you take it away everyone will want it more!
Life is an American right as well.
There are laws and restrictions on cars as there are for guns. Cars, however, Serve a peaceful and necessary function in society and that function is now apart of our way of life. I can not get to work riding a gun. I can not pick my daughter up from school on a gun. I can not physically carry food with a gun.
What you can do with a gun is Hunt game, Target practice, and kill people. The laws made for devices should reflect their primary use. There is no question that a gun needs to be more regulated then a car, despite drunk driving and accidents, because cars primary reason for being is transport. A gun is used to kill, that is it's primary goal and the reason it was invented.
This occured last night; only 10 minutes from my business. multiple state troopers zoom passed my business in excess of 100mph to the crime scene. The man/father apparently was in a custody battle for his daughter. he supposed lost his temper when he was rejected by his estranged wife. It is believed that his wife also was housing her boyfriend in the house. What ensued was a jealous rage when he went to pick up his daughter. the confrontation escalated and the suspected started to shoot up the victims.
This, is not a gun control issue...its a domestic, moral, society, and educational issue. This could of been avoided if the persons involved would of cooperated and respected each other. And if they could work their issues out for sake of at least their daughter. in the end; they all lost including the daughter and the friends, relatives, and the community.
More, attention needs to be paid to society as a whole and persons on an individual basis. not just guns...guns will always be around legally or illegally.
***posted by a non gun owner***
What was he shooting them up with, heroin??
heroin??? boy are you stupid!
Gun control is the answer!
Gun control won't stop criminals from owning guns, just the rest of us who are NOT willing to break the law.
Canada has all kinds of gun control and they still had a Massacre in Toronto!
The 2 Jokers, this buffoon, Laughner, Cho, Sencion ALL acquired their guns legally and then went out and killed dozens and wounded hundreds.
Canada has less gun control than the USA, which has very little.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
Actually the copycat Joker had on a tee-shirt which claimed:
"Guns don't kill people, I kill people".
You might remember his picture, another fat, pimply pathetic loser with 25 guns that were going to make it all better.
There are an estimated 11 or 12 million guns in Canada and about 200 to 250 million in American...
Hmmmm... Just because you say something on a message board, doesn't make it true...

As Mauser points out that "it has been argued that cultural differences account for why Canada has stricter gun control legislation than the United States"(575).
Gun control IS the answer.
Too many uncontrollable people get guns too easily.
Now the kid has no parents. That's wisdom right there. Take morals out of society and this what you get.
I can already hear the NRA and their sheep now....."If only those 3 people and that 4 year were armed, they'd all be alive today."
If it was not so disrespectful to the dead. He should be allowed to carry them simultaneously on his back until he is dead. And it is because of psychos like this I am glad I have my concealed weapons permit. Say what you want gun haters but I agree 100 percent with PAUSAresident...he hit the nail on the head. It is not a gun issue, it is a heart issue. My prayers go out to the innocent little four year old child.
I live in Oregon and a guy here just killed his two kids and soon to be ex-wife after she went to a judge and beggged for help... He was a so-called good citizen, so Judge Idiot said no you can't have a restraining order. This has happened 5 times within the last couple years in Oregon alone. Maybe the authorities should start taking this $hit seriously, instead of treating women like they are just trying to get child support!
How many more innocent people have to die before they put guidelines in place for child custody battles!
What is a judge supposed to do when that guy looked like an upstanding person? He had done nothing wrong until he killed. The judge can not legally discriminate based on gender alone. Yes, If his wife had complained of specific threats, the judge should have issued a temp restraining order and placed the children with an other family member and also ordered them both to be evaluated within 48h for stability.
Woman have been known to use restraining orders against perfectly safe and loving fathers and judges are getting wise to this and putting an end to it. If you want people to blame for the judge trying to keep Dad in the picture, then start looking at those woman who abused the system and cried wolf so many times that judges had to change things.
These stories are hart breaking, but you can not just hand out restraining orders. They have been abused and now sadly those who need them cant get them as easy as they need to.
Perfectly normal people snap and kill. In the case of custody battles emotions run very, very high... I have been in the middle of one, I know! I think it is safe to say that under certain situtions even good Men will snap and go postal.
1. Child Molestation makes male parents snap and kill.
2. Losing their kids to their soon to be e-wife and a new man.
Judges know this, they see it ever day.
BTW: Family court makes their own rules! They actually have custody of all minor children and can do whatever they want. Most parents have no idea States have actual custody of their children from 1 to 18... Don't believe me... look it up! That is true of Washington State.
Did he think the issue was settled and him and his daughter could live happily ever after?
Just another whacko giving guns a bad name.
I have read all the comments and I need an answer form all the (gun) people. Why is it that most ciilized countries have under a 100 killings per year w/guns and strong gun control and we have over 11,000 not counting suicides? We have over 300 million guns in this Country and exactly what has that brought us?
Our rights...like no one in the free world has but us. The problem isn't the guns..it's our society and until that is fixed, I'll keep my guns.
How many deaths do you think there would be if the government tried to take away those 3,000,000 guns?
sally
Most countries have a more homogenized population, meaning they have more people that think and act in similar ways and they don't have nearly the number of immigrants as the US. We are a melting pot of races, religions, cultures, and beliefs.
Asians Americans have a lower amount of violence than average, blacks and Hispanics have a higher amount of violence than average, and whites are somewhere in the middle. Historically blacks are exposed to more violence in their culture both by them and against them so they're more desensitized toward violence , most Hispanics come from violent cultures, and whites are a mix of many cultures with no real culture of their own.
space cowboy-1438206
Actually the numbers are approximately 300,000,000 (three hundred million) firearms in the hands of approximately 80,000,000 (eighty million Americans)
I agree some people have guns who shouldn't. Personally, I've got a twelve gauge on a gun rack in my home and don't see it as a big deal because I've never thought about gunning anybody down. Maybe the woman and her friends would've been better served with their own home protection.
another incident where a firearm was used against a family member and a woman. sad.
Dispite his actions he was not able to have much time with his daughter. Now one parent dead and one in the joint. I wonder if those were the plans he had for his daughter when she was born? And if not what had he planed for her? And now because of his actions none of those plans will be realized. Or if they are he probably won't be around to enjoy them. All because he could not control himself, how pathetic.
And that is where the problem lies, his actions, our society...not the gun.
But the ease for crazy angry people to get guns is the problem.
Messenger - i hope you were being sarcastic
Was he? I thought he was serious...
Well then i dont like him!
Remember everybody! "if guns were outlawed... only outlaws would have them"
Oh snap... another hipster with a gun decides to play pop goes da weseal with their family and friends. Life aint nuthin but a gangsta shoot out to these baby killin' "A" listers. I found my true love, heat and all at w w w deadlyincesters . co m
ANOTHER pathetic loser making it all better with his big, bad gun.
I suppose the wife should have armed herself, imbeciles.
You should have stopped with the first sentence...PATHETIC LOSER...yes she should have armed herself, can't tell me she didn't have warning that she was with a PATHETIC LOSER....
The way to stop this is NOT for more people to be forced to get guns. The way to stop it is for less people to get guns. How dare anyone put fault on a victim! Shame, shame.
I look at this guys picture and he looks like a guy that would do this. It is very rare when you see a guy and they look innocent like Scott Peterson did. Can't judge a book by it's cover... They were both psychopaths!
he look like he work at a dunkin donuts with his fat ass all up in the frostin
Scott Peterson, Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahimer, the list goes on....
So please tell me oh wonderful seer..... what does a killer, potential killer look like? Curious minds want to know so they might be avoided.
hahaha
XD:
Looked inthe mirror today...
cheesy-846740
I'm very glad you looked in the mirror. Now if you would be kind enough to post a picture of yourself, I will endeavor to avoid you.
Have a great and SAFE day and life.
Cut his nuts off and let him bleed to death. Scum bag.
Once again the media got it wrong, the headline should have read,"3 murdered in Pennsylvania!"
just not a happy ending .
This is becoming a trend and the crazy folk always have the guns..clearly a gun to someone who is responsible who uses it to protect themselves it what gun laws are about...not crazy folk who don't want to be seperated or divorced or are angry at their spouses or friends or shoot unarmed folks who happen to be in their way...crazy unlawful folks are always going to get guns legally or illegally and use them for all the wrong reasons. and while we are on a rant I am watching a show called the "Principal"...all though I am sure some of it is staged I know factually that this happens daily all over the US and our children (young adults) back talk, disrepectul, and so rude to their teachers/principals how will they even get a general entry job...they will be sitting at home..not giving to the community and will probably have a couple of children, not marry, not contribute and eventually get a gun and shoot someone because he didn't get his way...help!!!!!!!!!
is this how u solve your child custody battle by killing the mother now u dont have the child or the mother u @!$%#
The article doesn't say why they were arguing. Maybe he walked in on a three-way and that put him over the edge.
If you use the link to the local news story that is in this story it explains what happened and where everyone was and what set the guy shooting.
Oh and maybe you posting the comments of him being a pathetic loser should think twice... perhaps after years of being called that and bullied drove him gradually loony? bullies hiding behind there computers achieve nothing... dont stoop to a low level and name call and bully... it does nothing...
everyone just keeps blaming guns, guns, guns. We have had guns for 100's of years, and it just recently started this epidemic of someone walking in and wasting several unarmed people. its the problem with the world today, kids are not taught respect, honor, and the value of others lives and opinions. they all are raised about me, me, me. so, when they are rejected, they feel they are "owed" something, and don't have the self worth to respect the others opinion or decision. Me, i will always carry a gun. i pray i never run into a crazed lunatic like this or like the "dark night" a**hole, but if i do, i will be ready. better to be tried by 12 then carried out by 6!!!
Your fear of people with guns is showing
Julea,
He doesn't fear people with guns... He is embracing his Constitutional right to bare arms. It is true that if one person sitting in that theater had a gun, it could have saved many lives... No one could have predicted that medical school drop out would go postal. However, if someone goes postal around me I will pull out my weapon and shoot back to defend myself.
You will pull your weapon in a dark smoke bomb theater and start shooting for your protection? Ummm, What part of that is what a responsible gun owner should be doing? Why would you pull a gun and fire on anyone in a closed dark smoke bombed room? You WILL kill innocent people.
A responsible gun owner is one that will use his gun for self defense only when there is no clear risk to other people who are innocent. Thats why law abiding gun owners scare me more then the bad guys. Now everyone is going to want to be packing in a theater and etch of them are all going to pretend that they have enough training to deal with shooting in a crowded theater.
why do all low life men have short beards and mustaches? Are they to lazy to shave? This guy is a true definition of a bum.
