Shellie Zimmerman will not appear at her scheduled arraignment Tuesday after pleading not guilty to perjury for allegedly lying about the family's finances, a court official told WPTV.com.
Shellie, the wife of George Zimmerman, was arrested June 12 on one count of perjury.
"Neither Ms. Zimmerman or her attorney are required to attend the arraignment," Seminole County, Fla., court spokeswoman Michelle Kennedy told WPTV. "Ms. Zimmerman's name will remain on the docket, but her case will not be called."
Shellie Zimmerman's lawyer, Kelly Sims, entered a written not guilty plea last week, along with a waiver for her client not to personally attend her arraignment.
George Zimmerman, 28, was charged with second-degree murder in the Feb. 26 shooting of Trayvon Martin. He pleaded not guilty, and claims that he acted in self-defense.
His $150,000 bond was revoked after it was alleged that he and Shellie Zimmerman misled the court about their finances, neglecting to disclose they had raised at least $135,000 in a PayPal account.
Florida prosecutors said George Zimmerman, speaking by phone from jail, gave detailed instructions to his wife to conduct a series of money transfers and transactions in allegedly coded exchanges that were intended to hide from the court how much money had been raised to help pay for his legal defense.

Prosecutors released six recorded calls Zimmerman made from April 12 through April 17 while he was in Seminole County Jail. In the calls, he gave his wife Shellie detailed instructions to change passwords and answer security questions for the accounts, allowing her to move money. He then instructed her to move the money in a series of transactions carried out over days.
At George Zimmerman's April 20 bond hearing, when asked whether the couple had financial means to assist in his defense, Shellie Zimmerman said: "Uhm, not -- not that I'm aware of," according to an affidavit.

Lying is the heart of this case, and the only defense.
Spouses cannot be "compelled" (forced) to testify against their partners in either civil or criminal trials. Under U.S. federal common law (English Common Law), the spousal testimonial privilege is held by the witness-spouse, not the party-spouse, and therefore does not prevent a spouse who wishes to testify from doing so. This only means that the wife cannot be compelled to testify against George, but can do so if she wishes. If she were to choose to testify against George, he could not claim the spousal testimonial priviledge because he is the party-spouse. But the recorded conversations between her and George are fair game, so it makes little difference.
She was not forced to testify for anything, she decided to testify that they didn't have the money for high bail, an outright lie. There is already far too much evidence to say she is not guilty, unless she is trying the not guilty by reason of stupidity, which is not a legal excuse, it may be the truth but not a legal one... As far as her and her husband, we all know you can't fix stupid...

Who's lying? Well, one person is no longer living, so he unfortunately is unable to lie at the moment. So that leaves, the Zimmermans. Ol' Mrs. Zimmerman has started this case off the right way with all the money movement encoded in their conversation over the recorded line (pretty slick, I can't believe it was decoded). Really shows the character of the Zimmermans. I also love how Mr. Zimmerman explained the story of how Martin reached for his gun and he was able to pinch off Martin's arm with his own inner arm.... while also grabbing his firearm with the same arm!!! Mr. Zimmerman has been watching too much tv. I would make him display that amazing feat in the court of law.

I thought spouses did not have to testify or could plead the fifth if they are called to testify? I know legal things are tricky and have a bunch of loopholes, etc., but isn't that the case?
They can only do that if asked to testify against their spouse. Asking about finances in a case about non-financial crimes is fair game.
The Fifth Amendment only protects a person from being compelled to testify against one's self. In this case, the "testimony" will be the recordings of their conversations trying to hide the PayPal money from the judge by moving it into Shellie's credit union account which is titled under her maiden name, so there is no Fifth Amendment priviledge.

George must have been dozing or daydreaming about being a cop when he was in Criminal Justice classes. I think they stress ethics and legalities. Knowing he was being recorded, did they actually think they were smart enough to fool people with their child like code. I can't believe O'Money let them say they were indigent in court for a lower bond when he knew or should have known what was going on with the website. Maybe he thinks they both deserve some time served.
Zimmerman was not a Criminal Justice student. At one point, in the hopes of becoming a law enforcement officer. NPR reported that he had taken a 14-week class at the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. While taking the course he apparently determined that he was ineligible to be a deputy because of his criminal record.
He was originally enrolled at Seminole State College in 2003 to get a certificate as an insurance agent. He failed to get the certificate. When the shooting took place, he was enrolled in an Associate's Degree with a major of "General Studies." He had told a number of people that he was studying nursing and criminal justice, but he was not taking classes in these subjects. (His wife actually did just graduate from an LPN nursing course.
Zimmerman knows his way around the court system and both of the Zimmermans knew better than to try to lie to a judge. Zimmerman's father was a magistrate and his mother was a deputy court clerk.

Zimmerman was charged with a felonious assault on a police officer, which was plead down to a misdemeanor charge, and then it was expunged from his record after he underwent an alcohol education course.
Saying just, "He has no convictions," does not tell the whole story.

Not guilty? They have her on tape and in recorded testimony. How she is defended should extremely amusing, but unlikely to win. From her picture little George would be lucky if she left him.
The not guilty plea is just a delay tactic. Criminal defense attorneys almost always recommend that you initially enter a not guilty plea. Then they will delay as long as possible, filing all kinds of ridiculous motions with the court for months, if not years, before finally changing their plea.
Or, maybe she's just as insipid as her husband, and will claim she was just standing her ground against the judge.
There is not even a trial yet. Why did Zimmerman waive his right to a SPEEDY TRIAL? The defense is the one dragging this case. The trial would have started in August 2012 and be close to done by the end of this year.
Instead, the media and public have to endure another 2 - 4 years of this case and another two to four years of the Zimmerman's sucking people out of their money. The defense needs more time to mislead their way out of this case.

Any you guys watch Hannity's interview of Daryl Parks, one of the attorneys for the Martin family, the other night? I was quite surprised when, in outlining his theory of how events unfolded inside the Twin Lakes complex on the evening of 2/26, he omitted any reference to Dee Dee. Since Team Crump "discovered" her, and made such a tremendous media splash with her several months ago, it's difficult to account for this omission. I surmise they have concluded they cannot finesse her credibility "issues," among them, of course, her three week silence after learning that Trayvon had been killed by the "Creepy," "crazy" White man who had "stalked" him. If her "tweets" have been correctly identified, they will not support the claim that she was suffering from total emotional collapse during this period. If Team Crump, which has been so close to her, is dropping her, I would not expect the prosecution to pick her up. Without her, the prosecution has zero evidence of a "chase," and the problem of how Trayvon could have ended up 80 yards from the Green residence 4 minutes after Zimmerman had reported him fleeing in that direction. This case is headed south, guys. You see that poll of registered Florida voters the other day, by an independent public opinion research group, showing that more now believe Zimmerman innocent than guilty? And that was before the announcement that a task force of 10 FBI agents had failed to turn up a shred of evidence that Zimmerman is a "racist."
Investigator Serino reviewed his police report dated 3/12/2012 in which he wrote, "The encounter between GEORGE ZIMMERMAN and TRAYVON MARTIN was ultimately avoidable by ZIMMERMAN, if ZIMMERMAN had remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement, or conversely if he had identified himself to MARTIN as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog in an effort to dispel each party's concern. There is no indication that Trayvon MARTIN was involved in any criminal activity at the time of the encounter. ZIMMERMAN, by his statements made to the call taker and recorded for review, and his statements made to investigators following the shooting death of MARTIN, make it clear that he had already reached a faulty conclusion as to MARTIN's purpose for being in the neighborhood."
Um, hm, jit, unfortunately that turns out to be a hopelessly simplistic notion of what is required to prove up a murder charge. As far as this "Miss Manners" business about Zimmerman's failure to introduce himself, I invite you to detach your adoring gaze from Child Trayvon, as depicted in the media, and contemplate the 6 ft. tall figure we see in the 7-11 video, bulked up in a hooded garment, and ask yourself whether you would not prefer the police to handle contact with him in a dark, high-crime neighborhood. Wasn't it Serino who spoke of roving gangs of Black, hooded youths, called Goons, who roamed Sanford? And "He shoudna got out of the truck" will be pounded right up the prosecution's bunghole. We're talking about proof of murder here.
