Man captured on surveillance video who is sought by law enforcers for an apparent arson attack on a mosque in Joplin, Mo., on July 4.
The FBI announced a $15,000 reward for information that helps nab a suspect captured on surveillance video throwing a lit object onto the roof of an Islamic Center in Joplin, Mo.
The nationwide appeal for tips that lead to the identity, whereabouts and indictment of the white man who appears on the video image came Wednesday, about two weeks after it was announced locally, said Bridget Patton, spokesperson for the FBI in Kansas City, Mo.
"We need to put that picture out to see if anyone can identify that person or give us any information to further this investigation," said Patton. She said the appeal could "just someone to stop and think… and call in pertinent information, like, 'you know, I did see a car on that street.'"
A fire on the roof of the Islamic Center of Joplin was reported about 3:30 a.m. July 4, the FBI said. It was extinguished by the Jasper County Fire Department before it could cause interior damage.
The mosque was vacant at the time, Patton said.

She said she could not comment on whether the initial local appeal had generated any useful tips.
The $15,000 reward includes $10,000 from the FBI and $5,000 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
Federal law criminalizes arson and vandalism against houses of worship committed either because of the race or ethnicity of the group using the property or, in certain circumstances, because of the religious nature of the property, the FBI noted in a release.
The FBI plans to publish the whole video recording of the attack on its site on Friday, Patton said.

weird photo: guy looks light-skinned black or Middle Eastern: broad nose, tightly curled black hair
is it just distorted?
Whoever he is too bad he didn't burn the place down
We should have tolerance for all religions, unfortunately TigerBoy is narrow minded and makes crass comments.
Of course its arson....all someone had to do was sprinkle a little bacon or pour pig blood by the next door and the ground would be "unfreaking holy" and unwarshipable on the property. No insurance company would give them money for abandoning the mosque because of pig blood.Arson is the only way they could get the money besides a natural disaster.Call me a racist ,bigot or whatever, but that guy sure looks of middle eastern decent to me....
First it was Black churches torched by the KKK. Now we have Americans lashing out at another faith by burning their houses of worship. We as a country are falling apart at the seems to allow such idiotic events to go unpunished by remaining tight lipped on this hate crime. When will we pull together as a country and build back that which was destroyed by greed and hate? It is not too late to turn this country around in the right direction again and practice our Constitution as it was meant to be interpreted and followed.
The nationwide appeal for tips that lead to the identity, whereabouts and indictment of the white man who appears on the video image came Wednesday, about two weeks after it was announced locally, said Bridget Patton, spokesperson for the FBI in Kansas City, Mo.
Not for nothing, but if this guy is white, then I'm Casper the Friendly Ghost!!!
Let's think about 9-11 before you give lip service to those people. Do you really think they give a damn about us???
you mean we couldn't park warships there?
and yet, the kid that tried to blow up the Portland OR, christmas tree-lighting ceremony was turned in by his father, who was also a muslim and couldn't stand the fact the his kid was turning to violent, radical islam. or take the muslim that was shot in the face in Texas by a guy that was "looking for payback" for 9/11. the shooter killed two other muslims, yet the third, victim who survived, tried desperately to prevent the execution of the shooter because he sincerely believed that his religion taught him that it was always wrong to take the life of another person. in his interview, he sounded like he had a far better grasp of the concept of "christian forgiveness" than most self-proclaimed "christians".
so in a word, yes, many do, but others still live in their tribal dark ages
Or a fake "hate crime" caught on tape perhaps.
FBI: $15,000 reward for mosque arson
suspect
Another grand headline from msnbc. The way it was worded it seems as if the fbi wants to reward the arsonist $15,000 for burning the mosque.
@ Olivia, I love you. Will you marry me? Back to the news. MSNBC must now identify (or speculate) the race, religion or nationality of every suspected perp in every crime or terror story it covers or it will be just like every other anti-White American news source, like the Grio. I am a politically and socially moderate person, but this type of mass-media journalism is slowly but surely forcing me to choose sides. If it comes down to that, I will choose the side that looks like the face I see in the mirror. I don't think I am alone.
A crime is a crime. Find this guy and send him to jail.
If we can burn mosques b/c of what 19 now dead muslims did on 9/11, that means we can we burn churches b/c of what was done to Jewish people by Christians during the inquisitions, pogroms and holocaust. Better rethink that position.
Many if not most of the "anti-Muslim hate crimes" are either made up/faked/propaganda.
According to some of these racist and bigoted comments, Blacks should be burning down a lot of things. Consider what blacks endured for the past 400 years. If any race on this planet has a right to be angry at Society,,,, it should by-far be the Black American and the Africans whose people were attacked, enslaved, raped, forced to free labor, lynched and murdered by early white Americans. And the discrimination and murdering we endured during the past 200 years in this country. But, we have more respect, dignity, pride and self-control than most racist people would want to grant us credit for. And don't give us that: we should forget about it... The Jewish Holocaust is not forgotten, why should the Black Holocaust be? That man looks nothing like a light-skinned black man. That is the thought of racist white folks who hate to be deemed what they are.... haters and murderers.
Yes
the poor, poor black man, if not for us would be living in the worlds paradise
of Africa free of hate, crime, disease... o wait that’s not true and slavery is
over none of us here had anything to do with it if you want racism in and for
that group to go away let that fall back go. Sorry my rant, just don't like the
same non-pertinent history lesson each time. Now for the point I think I had
you said
"If
any race on this planet has a right to be angry at Society,,,, it should by-far
be the Black American and the Africans whose people were attacked, enslaved,
raped, forced to free labor, lynched and murdered by early white
Americans."
Yes
you are so high and mighty on your opinion I guess you forgot the American
Indian... you know the natives that were in America long before it had the
name. The race of people that, let's face it, has basically been so decimated
that it will slowly die out along with their rich beautiful culture. If ANYONE
has a right to complain and grind an axe it is them. They were eradicated by foreign
diseases then used as fighters in wars both for and against us. They made
treaties and concessions only to have them broken and that was after the
colonials tried to use them as slave (turns out they are very good at getting
out of situations they don't want to be in). They were hunted their food
sources decimated they're animals destroyed, women raped and with the children
slaughtered wholesale they fought back they kept fighting they are all but a
whisper on the wind now the world has less in it. But ya you are right the poor,
poor black man who is so mistreated today and let me guess the white man is
holding him down, not like he has any way to better himself or the culture
right... had to say something to that stupid comment can't help it. I also need to add that in no way do I excuse or feel what happened to American Africans was forgivable or acceptable in any way, simply put just because I'm a fair skinned American doesn't mean I have any ties through history to any of that or that fact that I was born recently and therefore have not done anyone or any culture harm in anyway.
For this article I agree the media blasting that this was a white man even if he didn't look mid eastern or about any race but white to just assume that is not only ignorant but also counter productive to get tips as now everyone is only looking for a white suspect in their minds. I'm sure if he is caught and middle eastern they will call him White Iranian or some crap. I think they want to start a race war hope they are failing.
p.s. Yes I know my punctuation sucks I have come to terms with it. I am also part American Indian mixed with some asian and eastern/western european but just call me American.
well, it looks like this buttwipe in the picture succeeded, the same mosque has now burned to the ground
The camera must have a wide angle, even fisheye, lens which distorts in that way.
Or the distortion is declaring that it is a "white male" in that video capture, as the FBI does. That has to be their best shot of him, yet it's far from clear that he is "white."
It looks as if he has a unabrow. Who else has a unabrow? HMMMMM.... Oh yeah, The nut job president from iran.
I know all Arabs and people of color are not Muslims. Does this look like a white man to you, maybe there's something wrong with my vision. Like the killing of the Iraqi woman was called a hate crime when it was done within the family. Insurance maybe, I'm just saying.....
It's not a matter of race, creed or religion, it's a matter of right or wrong. Arson is wrong and illegal, pure and simple.
Yeah Paul it is, just as it is wrong to say this was done by a white person when that quite obviously is not necessarily the case... but that proclamation has no doubt served its INTENDED purpose for our RACIST PotUS Hussein!!!!!
Yes America, there is HOPE! All we need do is CHANGE the occupant of the White House come November then we can all move FORWARD towards a brighter, more prosperous future!
BELIEVE IN AMERICA!
Right, the guy in the picture obviously is a Muslin.
Boy, it's a good thing that Islam is the only violent religion. Christians would never do something like that. /s
How exactly is this man "obviously Muslin"? Assuming you meant to say Muslim. Have you read anything on Christian history? I am hoping that you're being sarcastic. Why did I expect such ignorant comments? I hate that when Missouri is in the national news it's always for something stupid.
maria, note the "/s" at the end of the comment, it denotes sarcasm
"the guy in the picture is "obviously a Muslin""
That guy looks nothing like a loosely-woven cotton fabric.
FBI should've offered a $ 15,000 reward for setting the fire -- one less mosque = 100 less jihadists ...
Are you claiming credit?
Using that logic every time someone burns a Christian church we have a hundred fewer right-wing Christian fundasmentalists.
Religious bigotry is fundamentally un-American.
Only people like you think like that. I know many Muslims and they are respectful people, unlike yourself.
Did you know any of those that flew planes into the WTC, Pentagon, or fields in Pennsylvania? The ones you know are here for a reason, and it is not about American freedom.
Saying that every Muslim is a terrorist because of the actions of a few is exactly like saying every Catholic priest is a pedophile, every protestant preacher is a thieving sex addict (Jimmy Swaggart, Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, etc.) and every member of the Tea Party is a gun-toting assassin only moments away from a massacre (Jared Lee Loughner).
Painting with such a broad brush means even your own loves get splattered.
I was thinking the headline also meant they were giving him a reward for a job well done. All these people spouting religous equality. Go try building a church in Saudi Arabia. How about a memorial at Khobar Towers? And yet we are bad if we don't let them build an Islamic center where the WTC towers fell. Give me a frickin' break.
First, your line about "giving him a reward for a job well done" is just straight up bigotry and paints you as a rather emotional small person
Secondly, are you saying because Saudi Arabia won't allow Christian churches to be built that somehow means we should do the same - some sort of bizarre tit for tat that would make us as bad as the people you are trying to condemn? That's pretty weird logic.
Secondly, the Islamic Center expansion was not at ground zero in NY, it was several blocks away. Try reading news other than that presented by TP conservatives or FOX and give us all a frickin' break.
Thank you, that is all.
Had it been a american church (white) the reward would 10 time higher and the fed's would have poured mega resources into it. Sounds like a covert operation, if you catch my drift.
You have it all backwards. Had it been a Catholic church there wouldn't even be an investigation. But because it involves Obama's religion and his fellow Muslims the FBI and ATF have to be involved. Complete waste of federal resources. No surprise. This should be a local police investigation there is no reason for Federal involvement other than the fact that our Socialist pig leader has ordered it.
A+ for trolling. But Seen the polls lately? America no likey Romney. Got any suggestions?
I know where there's nice high cliff over the ocean shore where the TP and other conservative bigot trolls can do their lemming thing.
I can no longer tell when people are trolling, soulless monsters, or just Republican.
They should just check out churches on Sunday. I can guarantee they will find the person in the pews.
Obviously, this is a new thing law enforcement is doing lately. Releasing low res and distorted images first to see if the perp turns himself in. They cant release a perfect picture. Vigilantes would get the guy before the police would. Doesnt matter whether the victims are muslims or catholics, or jews, you just dont do that with causing some major beef. Tempers would flare (pun not intended)
That's a bad theory with no basis in fact.
That's obviously the best picture they've got.
Turns out that the whole video is available too. Not sure why nbc didn't use it. It's on youtube. There's also another still pic from this local MO news site: http://www.missourinet.com/2012/07/05/surveillance-cameras-catch-images-of-possible-joplin-mosque-fire-suspect-photos/ In the alternate still shot the guy looks a bit more "white," but not clearly so. The whole video is also not clear one way or the other.
Judging by his hair, ears and clothing (especially the jeans) he's white. Who wants to bet he's an anti-abortionist, 2nd Amendment solution birther type who works at the local Vlasic factory sorting good pickles from bad pickles?
I'll take some of that action.
So why isn't NBC news calling this terrorism? Oh, that's right, only Muslims can be terrorists. Thanks, NBC, for perpetuating the stupidity that caused this terrorist attack.
Probably because there's a good chance that this is yet another case of a faked hate crime, or maybe Shiite/Sunni tensions boiling over. The guy in the picture does not in any way look like "a white guy."
...at least to me, and I know a lot of white people.
This arsonist will be found soon at a Tea Party rally.
Or at the next chapter meeting of C.A.I.R.
I'm with you Tiger Boy. This nation has forgotten it's Christian founding and heritage. Muslims hate Israel and seek the destruction of it and all non- Muslims. I'm amazed how blind and ignorant our leaders are to the danger and how little we've learned from and since 9/11.
The only reason the phony christians support Israel is because they're trying to cause the Apocalypse and bring Jesus back. If they didn't think they could conjure up the Lord, they'd have wiped out Israel themselves by now.
PEOPLE don't have a say in when Jesus returns -- only God does. In fact, the Bible says not even Jesus himself knows the day or time. However, islam DOES require that its followers should set the stage for the return of their "messiah" and every muslim cleric and president has PUBLICLY been calling for their people to do that very thing. And what are they called to do? To kill Jews and Christians/Americans and cause anarchy. Christians are the only people PRAYING for this world and its salvation. You need to read a bible because you obviously don't understand the Christian faith. You should visit www.hallindsey.com and you might gain some insight into what is REALLY going on - and who is REALLY trying to stir up hatred.
West504---Our leaders only seem blind and ignorant--the hope is to Democratize the Middle East--so appeasement and the appearance of trust and use of diplomacy. They know and everyone else knows that the spread of Islam is the religious duty of all muslims and to not attempt to spread and make Islam the only religion makes a Muslim to be in violation of his religious duty.
Bill--Why are people defending muslims and condemning Christians--study something--find out about the religion you are defending and don't just look for the good stuff and tell yourself--oh they don't believe/do that any more-- when you find something you don't like. Try some objectivity once in a while.
Since Christians consider Jesus a manifestation of God, then that means God doesn't know when either, which would mean God is not, by definition, omniscient.
Grish, for you to even *use* the word objectivity is an affront. Christian missionaries around the world. Three continents bathed in blood because of the "White Man's Burden" to spread Christianity to the corners of the world. And to everybody who says this is a *Christian* nation, why aren't we Communist? Jesus was. Or do you not actually read his teachings? "Sell all you have, give to the poor, and follow me" "Render unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar"....sounds like a complete repudiation of the selfishness, greed, and tax avoidance you...things...preach and practice.
wow - a $15,000 reward on an ARSON case? should he be caught and brought to justice - absolutely. but let's offer $15,000 rewards for the capture of pedophiles and murderers!
Not for nothing, but if this guy is white, then I'm Casper!!!
That guy is not "white"
I'll bet anyone $ 10,000.00 over it.
Oh hum!
this man knows what these mosques preach and it ain't a pretty picture. save the usa and christianity. are moslems peaceful and tolerant? sure when they are in the extreme minority. there ideology is filled with hate and anyone that follows the koran is a ticking time bomb. i personally have had the unfortunate situation of dealing with some of them that have that level of hate with anyone that is not of their faith. islam is poison to the mind. it is the 4th and final beast of daniel written in the bible. i know i am not being politically correct but i am being politically accurate. should we burn all the mosques in the us of a? it would certainly not hurt the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacobs feelings.....nor mine
Islam is a religion of peace and if you took the time to read the Qur'an, you would know that we worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob!!
I highly doubt you have ever been in mosque let alone heard any "sermons" or what is preached.
That was aimed at hey day in heaven, by the way.
ignorance abounds
Just repetitive or stalking? hmmmmm?
isalm is a criminal ideology and has a lawless sharia law system...yes sharia law is lawless according to God's ten commandments which muslims abhor. can you arrest someone with a criminal ideology? sorry to say no but only if they act on it...
We both agree that you can arrest an arsonist, right?
I'm not saying what happened is wrong, but when I was overseas I NEVER saw a Mosque with a flat roof all of them were round and who puts a camera on the center of a roof that is whats odd about this photo too me. Aren't rooftop cameras suppose to be viewing the entrances parking lots etc?
Seriously?! SERIOUSLY? !! You are going to find a way to create an anti-Islamic conspiracy theory over a flat roof and cam location because in your mind all mosques have round roofs with no flat areas and you've never seen a roof cam before? Seriously?
So why this case? Why ask the public for help, when the FBI never does, normally? Why is this so worthy of the FBI and the public's assistance? Or has the FBI taken over the role of our police who have taken over the role of the military, to control us all?
One word: lithium
I dont think he looks Middle Eastern at all! He looks like your typical racist hillbilly from Missoura! Its why I moved out years ago. He should be easy to find - he is at the local bar which sets next to the Christian Church where he teaches Sunday school and he is listen to 1930's technology AM radio - probably the Rush Limpwrist or Shawn girly man show and absorbing the hate spin like sponge!
"Federal law criminalizes arson and vandalism against houses of worship committed either because of the race or ethnicity of the group using the property or, in certain circumstances, because of the religious nature of the property"
Now I understand the history behind the laws with the burning of black churches especially during the civil rights movement. But arson is arson. I will never understand why we need to make the sentence worse or lessen it because of the motivation of the criminal. seems to me, if the penalty for the "normal" crime is not high enough then maybe we need to increase THAT penalty. Same thing with "hate crimes" against people.
That being said, there is no room for people who would torch places of worship in the US. I am sick to death of people justifying it with Muslims because of the terrorists. Are we as a people not better than that? I know we want to just kill that notion and say we need to fight dirty cause our enemies do. I for one would rather die fighting honorably and die honorably than sacrifice my integrity to do to their level. I am not Muslim and I disagree with the Muslim faith. That being said, their places of worship are as sacred to them as mine are to me and attacks against them are simply unacceptable. I hope they catch this guy and I hope he does some serious time.
Think a little more about the black church burning and why it needed to be federalized in places like 1960s Mississippi. The local police did not investigate or prosecute the crimes. Making it federal opened jurisdiction and prosecution power to the FBI and DOJ.
I understand the sentiment: why is my house being burned to the ground less severely punished than a mosque? But it is a little more complicated than that. If you are a white, Christian, the local cops would probably try to find the perpetrator. In 1960s Mississippi, they probably helped light the fire on the black church or knew who did.
sadmoronsvote2
Excuse me? The crime is more heinous because of the way the perpetrator thought?
Sorry, it doesn't wash. I understand the federal vs local issue, but murder is murder, arson is arson. REGARDLESS of the "thought" that instigated the action.
XDm9mm
Yes. The motive, ie, the mindset, is always a consideration in criminal activity. If I shoot a ten year old kid dead it matters a lot whether that was because I was preventing him from stabbing his mother in the heart or because he was cutting through my yard. It equally matters if I decide to shoot someone simply because they belong to some group I despise. You can despise anyone you want, but you cannot base your actions on it that will cause physical harm to that person or group or infringe on their civil rights.
culheath
Since when did you become a believer in the 2nd Amendment? You'll shoot someone? (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)
Your "shooting" scenario doesn't wash either. In the first instance you would be acting in justifiable defense of another.
And as for your second argument, whether you despise someone or the group they belong to SHOULD be immaterial to the fact that you MURDERED someone. WHY you committed the crime should only be a defense tactic. The fact that you murdered a person, still remains the fact. The person is dead regardless of what the perpetrator thought about him/her.
I see things like this as black and white. Did he or didn't he. Justification or lack thereof is the responsibility of the defense. It should not be a prosecutorial tactic to say that he did it because the victim was (fill in the blank.) They should just need to prove he/she did it. Not why.
I know, but I was attempting to demonstrate state of mind...in the first instance one of protection and in the second defensive belligerence. The actions are simililar, ie, the kid is shot, but the motives are different and change the manner in which the shooting is viewed.
I disagree, it speaks to motive. Surely you can agree that society is more likely to expect a harsher sentence for a child killer than for say a murder between gang members. Why is that?
The secondary level of punishment for hate crimes plays into that premise.
A spouse kills in an emotional rage over infidelity, a robbery goes bad, etc., these things are given a different weight in sentencing than say a spouse who kills for profit from a life insurance policy or simply to end a marriage or a robbery that involves execution style killings for no rational reason.
When you are charged with a hate crime it is a second charge on top of the initial charge of murder and is intended to send a second message...namely that society will not tolerate harmful actions based on a hateful mindset against an already oppressed group. Hence, it is not just the defense that has an interest in that aspect of the motive, but society as whole.
I await your delightful pummeling of my argument.
Oh and by the way, I have nothing against 2nd amendment rights, just extreme versions of it. But your barb. was funny. :)
ignorance abounds
Just wondering if the FBI also offers rewards, if this happens to other churches?
I think the FBI has a website. Maybe you could find the answer to your question there?
Does anyone know if the FBI is offering a reward for the identity and help in capturing the "high level source" that is currently divulging National Security Secrets?
I will say this once again to try and alleviate some of the ignorance that feeds your minds: Muslims are not terrorist, terrorists are terrorist!!
Muslims are found all over the world. They are European, African, Asian, and yes, even American. Islam is a spiritual lifestyle of peace. Please do not confuse us with Arabs, who happen to be Muslim, Christian, Jewish, and atheist. Arabs are of Middle-Eastern decent. If you knew how idiotic your ignorance made you, you would slap yourself with a stupid stick!!
By the way, I was born and raised in New England. I grew up Christian and I turned to Islam for a more peaceful connection with God and myself. I have never been more in tuned with spirituality until now.
Christians are just afraid of Islam's full court pressure.
Muslims got the stones, Christians just got drones. Praise Allah....
Timoth McVey was not a Muslim but he was a terrorist. The Ecoterrorist groups in the day before the Patriot Act I were not Muslim but they were/are terrorists. Hmm, lets see you can be a terrorist but you do not have to be a Muslim to be a terrorist. Hey, that logic works!
Lets not forget Muslims insist all non-believers either convert to Islam or die.
They don't show religious tolerance. But we have to?
See, it's comments like these that keep people ignorant. I am truly amazed at the ignorance!! There is no force in Islam. There is invitation to accept it's understanding and an offering to live peacefully and commune with God yes, but "convert or die?" Puh-lease!!
I've spent 10 years following Christianity and have been taught that if I don't accept Jesus as my lord and saviour I was going to die and go to hell; that if I didn't live a life according to someone's interpretation of the Christian bible, I was going to spend eternity burning!!
When I converted to Islam, there was no middle man, there weren't 50 interpretations of a scripture. There is ackowledgement of all the prophets from Abraham to Jesus. There is only one God and that is who I serve!!
What you stated has merit. I was reared in a Christian home and all I ever heard was if you do not accept the Lord Jesus as your saviour you will burn in a lake of fire and other bat @!$%# stuff. At the age of 12 I resisted and denounced ALL Christianity rhetoric and never set foot in another church again. I will not go to a wedding that is in a church due to what they espouse as being the gospel. I will remain with the traditional teachings of the indigenous people of this continent. Much simpler and less violent endings with the most respect and reverence for everything of nature on this planet we call home.
Clearly Want the Truth From Politicians - would not recognize truth nor accept it if it slapped him i the face! Guns Dont kill People just Bitch slapped him in the face ---- I am waiting for a rebuttal mostly for the comic value!
I think what a lot of people tend to forget is the difference between Muslim and Islam. Muslim is a very peaceful religion practiced by many different peoples around the world. Islam is a religious/political ideology that simply has it's base in Muslim. And different Islamic organizations have been declaring war on the United States for several years, since before 9/11. Followers of Islam are the enemy, because they have declared themselves to be so and have taken action to support that declaration.
Islam is a religion, muslim is the person who practices Islam. Islam is a peaceful religion practiced by many people around the world. People who are ignorant of the ideology of Islam and use the name of Islam for bad are the enemy of peace and humanity not just Islam and America.
An intolerant, aggressive, supremacist religion is more like it.
What is this Right Wing Christianity we are seeing coming out of the woodwork? From my observations it is an aggressive and supremest religion too. It is nothing me or mine want anything to do with. All organized religions are extremest by its very nature of being because it has a pack mentality.
Buddhism isn't extremist. Islam is by far the most extreme. Not all religions are the same.
yet it is the christians, with the strong backing of american preachers, that are trying to make homosexuality a capital offense in uganda. they want to do the same in the US next, then the world.
nope, no violent extremism there...
Why is it that whenever people are presented with a comparison between the hostility of Christianity and the hostility of Islam they almost always point out another religion such as Buddhism in an effort to expose how more hostile Islam is. Isn't that basically comparing apples to oranges? After all it would be much fairer to compare Islam and its hostility to the hostility of other religions of the Abrahamic roots such as Judaism and Christianity, however I guess the problem there is that all three of them rank pretty high up there for hostile intent.
