More than half of the country experienced "moderate to exceptional" drought conditions at the end of July, the hottest month ever recorded. And the impact of this hot weather has been felt across the nation as crops shrivel and wildfires rage out of control. NBC's Rehema Ellis reports.
It may come as little surprise with this summer's sweaty nights and blistering days across much of the country, but July marked the hottest month on record for the contiguous United States, according to government scientists. Furthermore, drought now covers nearly 63 percent of the Lower 48 states, where average precipitation is 0.19 inch below average.
A bit of hope, though, was seen for some crops in the Midwest thanks to cooler temperatures and rain.
According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the average temperature across the contiguous United States in July was 77.6 Fahrenheit, a full 3.3 degrees above the 20th century average.
The previous warmest July was in 1936, when the nation's average temperature was 77.4 degrees.
The hot July contributed to a record-warm first seven months of the year and the warmest 12-month period the nation has experienced since accurate record keeping started in 1895.
Virginia experienced its warmest July on record, with a statewide temperature a whopping 4 F above average. In all, 32 states had July temperatures among its 10 warmest, with seven states having their second warmest July on record.
While heat and extreme events such as drought and wildfires are often associated with global warming and climate change, it's unclear if the latest pattern is part of a much larger trend.

"These events are kind of what we'd expect with climate change, we'd expect expanding drought, we'd expect warm, record breaking temperatures," Jake Crouch, a NOAA climate scientist, told NBC News. "But it's kind of hard to pinpoint this month or past several months as a telltale sign that climate change is happening. The drought is more of a local factor and isn't necessarily driven by large scale climate change, but is impacting local temperatures. But we've also seen an increase in U.S. temperatures overall."
Still, there's no doubt this summer is taking a human toll, with warmer nights making it difficult for some people to sleep, and causing physical stress, Crouch said.
And the drought rollls on, with drier-than-average conditions continuing across the Central Plains and Midwest. Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri had July precipitation totals ranking among their 10 driest.
Some rain and cooler temperatures in the drought-stricken Midwest, however, are expected to provide relief for late-season soybeans, but the change in the weather is arriving too late to help the already severely damaged corn crop, an agricultural meteorologist said on Wednesday.
"It's definitely better than what we've had but I'd be hesitant to call it a drought-buster. Longer-term outlooks still look like a return to warm and dry," said Jason Nicholls, meteorologist for AccuWeather.
Related: Blame blistering heat waves on global warming, study says
Nicholls said up to three-quarters of an inch of rain, with locally heavier amounts, was expected in roughly 75 percent of the Midwest from Wednesday through Friday morning, and a similar weather system is expected next week.
Though the heat can be uncomfortable, not everyone is complaining. “The heat is definitely a blessing for us after coming off the warm, dry winter without a lot of weather events,” Alan Ayers, general manager at Crisafulli Brothers Plumbing and Heating Contractors in Albany, told The Associated Press.
The 73-year-old company has seen an 18 percent increase in new air conditioner installations over last year and has its 16 technicians working long hours to install, replace and repair units taxed by the swelter.
A storm pattern in the Southwest contributed to California's fifth wettest July on record and Nevada experiencing its eighth wettest, NOAA said. Wetter-than-average conditions were also reported through the rest of the Southwest, along the western Gulf Coast, and through the Ohio Valley where West Virginia had its tenth wettest July.
The warm and dry conditions over a large swath of the United States were seen as ideal wildfire conditions, NOAA said. More than 2 million acres burned nationwide in July because of wildfires. That is nearly half a million acres above average, and the fourth most on record since 2000.
Over the weekend the fires that burned across the state damaged nearly 94,000 acres and on Monday a body was found in a Norman home. NBC's Gabe Gutierrez reports.
The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.

anybody else getting just a little nervous about all this stuff happening? and its 2012. What, do we need neon signs?
God will have the final say!!
Jim in PA, what will Krishna have to say?
pfft
Rodney B, If you don't know what caused the climate changes throgh out history, maybe you should go back to high school science classes! If you have a scientific study that disproves what date climate scientist have been accumulating since 1955 and is published for everyone to see, please show us your great scientific mind!
Has nothing to do with anything, it's all a fluke. Things will straighten out in a year or two. And ya, it was once thought the world was flat, sail too far into the oceans and you'll fall off the edge.
Therefore, all the climate scientists are wrong. Got it. I'm sure glad you know what you are talking about, otherwise I might have to start believing the scientists.
Must agree with Zorro, this is not a fluke. A sign of things to come for America. The moral choices that we are making are terribly wrong!! Have you noticed the problems we are having of late!!
JiminPA, i guess it is the consequence of having republicans in power for much of the last half century. The greed engendered by them has taken a terrible moral toll on america.
Back when the World was flat, when by the way religion ruled not Science, some thinkers of the day told the ignorant masses (the deniers back then) that the Earth was round and they had proof.................finally today almost all believe the Earth is spherical.
So, there is hope that even GW deniers will eventually learn or admit the truth.
Show me the warming...one hot summer will not do.
NASA says that 9 of the 10 hottest years on record have occurred since 2000.
Google: 10 hottest years.
t's hot as hell due to the methane and super heated air emanating from Odumbo, Roid Ragin Reid and frozen face Pelosi.
The ignorant have now spoken.
You mean Obama and whoever votes for him.. right ??
Wasn't January the coldest month ever?
No, not even close.
Climate change deniers: 98+% of scientists the world over agree with the consensus that we are experiencing man-made climate change. Not one single national or international scientific community/organization has challenged this, and the overwhelming majority are on board (per Wikipedia and many other sources). A study released last month concluded that the odds of extreme droughts etc. currently experienced being NOT man-made are about the same as winning Lotto every week for a year. Not one single skeptic has had a study peer reviewed and accepted by the scientific community. It's easy to be a skeptic without peer review; however, science is based on repeatable and measurable results, and those results all line up on the side of man-made contributions to climatic change.
(BTW, to the poster who said, What about Eugenics and Phrenology and other now-discredited scientists, I say: those 'sciences" were never even close to the near-universal acceptance of the climate change theory today.)
So, deniers...how long you gonna keep your head in the sand? If you don't "believe" in science, you are never going to convince those who do of your beliefs...science has spoken, and the consensus grows each day with additional, peer-reviewed evidence.
Deniers will keep their heads in the sand as long as there is sand because they are ignorant and close minded.
OK, you are right. Now...what should be done about it? Got any answers? We're waiting....
Wally-1853299, are you serious?! How about: Reduce consumption. Invest in alt energy research with as much emphasis as we placed on the Space race and war buildup. Require new homes and buildings to install solar. Wind, water, tidal, solar, and possibly even safe nukes. Stop complaining about efficient light bulbs. Tax credits for alt energy vehicles. Develop more drought-resistant crops and stop relying on water-reliant mono-cultures. Tax benefits for green industry and/or penalties for pollutants. (Cap and trade may suck...but it's WAY better than nothing.)
And mostly...acknowledge this is happening and start debating solutions instead of debating whether it's a reality, or just whining about it as if we're doomed. Yes, too late perhaps to prevent ANY change, but absolutely NOW is the time to start figuring out - together, globally - what sort of world we want our grand kids to have THEIR grand kids in.
The piece of your "We're waiting..." response that bugs me is that these answers have been proposed for decades, and if deniers didn't fight this for those past decades, maybe we'd be better off now. If there's any challenge fighting global warming, denial for political or other reasons is the #1 culprit for our inaction to date. Kyoto was sunk by politics in the US and some sense that helping prevent cataclysmic change is somehow anti-freedom. As a race, we need to get over that BS viewpoint.
We know what the average temp was in 1936 but failed to mention this years temp for July in this article. First sign of a liar do not explain all the facts. But I wonder in 1936, were we in drought declared zones or were they really drought zones. And if we wait another 70 or so years will it happen again? It could be cyclic. Global government employees fund their own studies to get more money best scam ever
Another ignorant conspiracy theorist.
Irv- If you got any dumber you would be a danger to society and incarcerated.....
You are pathetic my friend.....
The "money" is in oil by factors of thousands, not in climate Science. If you are a GW denier, your belief has been paid for with oil money, you have been brain-washed and misinformed, and someones puppet -- break away and educate yourself with the facts, and don't be big oil's fool.
No, I am a denier (more correctly a skeptic) because I am scientist in an allied discipline and don't see any real science going on here. Show me the warming...not a few isolated, unrelated, local, and temporary observations.
Wally.......... highly doubt you are a Scientist based on your comment.
The "warming" has nothing to do with any specific unrelated set of temporary events.
In case you are a Scientist, perhaps a refresher course in Statistics will shed light on how these collections of data are converted into trends, how the trends are separated from a normal range of events, and why personal belief does not enter into the result. Not to mention that many independent Scientists verified the results.
I have nothing personally to show you, you will have to get that on your own, but being a Scientist, I am sure that will not be a problem for you.
I can't give you the links but.............
Google: 10 hottest years. You will get NASA. Trust them?
Google:Skeptical Science. Lotsa science there along with answers to questions you haven't thought of yet.
This is more sensationalizing of a non-news subject to feed fear and panic!. Global warming is a farce. How many data points were collected when the last record was set? How many now? I believe its exponentially higher. Temperatures can vary in a relatively small, localized area. Temperatures can vary 10 deg. over just 10 miles. How about a little responsibility in reporting? Do your research and excersize some ethics!
More ignorance spoken by someone who has no concept of the science behind the temperture rise.
You're right! Why didn't all of the world's scientists think about this like you did before publishing all of their findings? Thank you for your tireless research you do in this field. Could you please post your findings and research because I am sick of getting this irresponsible reporting coming from the "liberal elite media"? Thanks!
Gobal warming is a farce?? Well, if you say so. I'm sure you know much more about it than the scientists.
Why are you non scientist serial posters so concerned about this so called global warming? You act like it is a bad thing.
Scientists at the south pole went back 650,000 years by digging ice core samples and sampling the air trapped in the samples. So we do have ways to see if the earths climate is changing.
WELL i think its time to cut the gravy train off for other countries...
if america cant take care of its own cattle,,,how are we gonna continue to babysit other countries...
america first
This is a comment I previously wrote and posted on another website.

Skeptics particularly in the Republican Party abound on this issue.
They opposed the Kyoto accords. They had a really wonderful time making fun of Vice President Gore. Like every Obama proposal, they opposed the cap for trade idea. The oil industry could do no wrong in their opinion even after the BP spill. They take the position that only after we see the results of Global Warming in a dramatic fashion will they believe it is real. Of course it would not matter to them that the impact would be possibly irreversible by then. And some of them would still cling to the claim that the Sun is warming or other natural phenomenon.
For those skeptics I ask the following:
Why would God who created this wonderful planet, destroy it by allowing the sun to heat up?
Do you understand if you are saying man did not cause this that you are really blaming the God for Global Warming.) Apparently you believe that God who said that "it is good" has changed his mind.
Secondly does it really make any difference whether Global Warming is real or not. Since the resources of this planet are limited it would make sense for man to learn to squeeze every mile out of every gallon of gas (not with Hummers), squeeze every watt of energy out of coal and switch to natural gas which is much more environmental friendly. It would make sense for man to learn to CONSERVE. So the question of Global Warming or climate change would become mute if we did make a concerted effort to get the most out of all our enegy sources and reduced the impact on our world.
Finally, I would point to the book of Eziekel and the book of Revelation. In Eziekel 100 pound hail stones come down. In Revelations the oceans die. The bible says that all the islands will be gone. Most of the crops will be burned up. All of these are likely the results of Global Warming in the future. We have all assumed that REVELATION SHOWED God's judgment on man. But I submit that it is really Mans judgement on Man for destroying the beautiful planet that God provided us.
As for the Republicans and some democrats who continue to convince the masses that there is not such thing as Global Warming caused by man, you are doing a severe disservice to our world.
he flooded it once and said no more floods,,,,he never mentioned anything about cooking it..
In case you forgot the Senate rejected the Kyoto Accords 95-0. Look it up.
Why is global warming such a bad thing after all.
Many millions of people on the coast will have to be resettled else where if the oceans go up less than 2 meters for starts. Global warming should really be called climate change. There will be many more periods of extreme weather with droughts and drastic rain like in the US now and in the Phillipines (rain). Hurricanes and tornadoes will become more frequent and more powerful.
My reading of the bible describes a world where the oceans are dead of life, all the islands are swamped and gone, there will be 100 pound hailstones (Texas has had several times when softball size hailstones have fallen) and most of the crops are burned up.
The bible is big on reaping what you sow. America (and I am a patriot!!) has shown distain for the climate of the world with our Hummers and the consumption of world resources with no attempt to remediate. Maybe the droughts is an example of us reaping what we have sowed. We will see.
If my reading of the bible is wrong than I would dare some bible scholar out there to respond.
Well, it's bad for farmers who won't be able to grow the crops they grow now as patterns change. It's bad for coastal dwellers in many regions, many of whom have already seen land erosion destroy houses as the seas continue to rise. It affects our lungs as we continue to pollute the skies. It affects animal, insect, and sea life migration and populations, and has already resulted in the loss of many species of frogs and insects, while meanwhile other insects and pathogens are introduced into now-warmer climates where people and livestock have no immunities. I could go on...but if your suggestion is that everything will be hunky-dory if we just put on sunscreen and go to the beach, you may want to look into this a bit more. I suspect you're just a troll who is making stuff up to bug folks, but I responded in case anyone actually does want to be educated and not ignorant.
Not only has Obama screwed up the economy, but he has ruined the weather!
Truer words were never spoken.... lmao.
Firsy we'll cut the gravy train to Texas and that moron governor it has......This state gets back $1.35 for every dollar they pay in federal taxes.......I wonder who pays that extra 35 cents. Duh!
Global warming is a FACT. But I still say to use all the natural gas, coal and oil we possibly can, but use technolgies available to reduce the CO2 created by burning fossil fuels. It is not an insurmountable problem, but to stop global warming is now not possible. We can slow it but not stop it let alone reverse it.
There are ISOTOPES of CO2 that show where they orginate. Carbon Dioxide with isotopes of 1 and 2 are from natural processes. Carbon Dioxide with isotopes of 3 are from burning fossil fuels. This is KNOWN FACT, not conjecture. The percentage of CO2 in the air has INCREASED DRAMATICALLY the last 100 years, and the CO2 with isotopes of 3 was negligible 100 years ago, BUT the CO2 with isotope of 3 is now around 70% of the CO2 in the atmosphere. CO2 Isotope of 3 is from burning fossil fuels!!!
This is scientific proof that mankind burning fossil fuels has created this problem. We cannot stop it now, but we can slow its progress. Slowing CO2 isotope 3 amounts can only be done if we all stop buring coal, natural gas and oil, and that is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. So, all you can do is try and capture as much of it as possible instead of sending it into the atmosphere.
Reversing the amount, although possible if we stopped burning fossil fuels, is hardly a reality. And then it would still take 100 years for all the CO2 to be reabsorbed by natural processes.
Just look at how long it takes to plant and grow a 50 feet, 50 year old tree, and then how long it takes to cut it down and burn it. We are faced with this global warming but we can do something about only when we admit we are the cause of it, otherwise, nothing will get cooller I guarantee you that. And your children and grandchildren will be the ones hurt by all this. We can do something about it, though the question is will we.
Lead in paint and gasoline was dealt with and people stopped dying from lead poisoning even though I still think most Alzheimers victims are due to having breathed so much lead in the 40's, 50's and 60's, CFC's were dealt with and the Ozone is recovering slowly, DDT was dealt with and animals stopped dying. Face the problems and causes of this global warming dilema and deal with it at least, or solve it at best, or do nothing. One of these will be the reality that will face us all.
You do realize the vast majority of the net worth of the oil and coal companies is based on their assets in the ground? They will never allow their assets not to be exploited. It is much more important than the future of our species.
Rather the future of out species lies in using those resources, period. If we do not we will all die from starvation. So, get off the oil company hate wagon and be a part of the solution, or stop driving your car, or using electricity, and start riding a bike or horse, or just shut up. Be part of the solutiion or not, but otherwise keep your ranting, against oil companies or anyone else that succeeds in life and produces a PROFIT for themselves or others, to yourself.
Oh, there are technologies that can eliminate our dependance on oil, and not the dumb ones that have been put in our faces to make it look impractical. Big Oil has much to fear, and that is why they fund anti-GW propaganda. They are not dumb, you can't have their kind of resources and be dumb.
YES, they very much want us to use that oil still in the ground !!!!
Since the main cause of the of global warming is too many humans on the planet, perhaps a bit of culling is in order.
Sure Wally, very true, You go first though, and show your commitment to your belief.
Don't ask others to do what you won't do yourself.
Consider the connotation of 'drought'. It's temporary, it's just a deviation from the norm. The 'good ol days' will return. There's nothing to prepare for, just wait it out.
Now consider the completely different frame of mind if you ask, 'is this our new norm?'.
The 'good ol days' don't exist. Never have, never will.
So what we have been keeping accurate records of weather patterns for such a short time they don't know whats going on, concerning corn crops the gov is scared to death that if there is not enough corn they will not have enough to make that engine trashing crud put in fuel and the uninformed will find out their cars get 10% better fuel mileage without it.
Too hot for you? Just become a conservative, & don't buy the science. That'll fix everything. Conservatives apparently buy ignorance, foolishness, superstition, & other idiocies. We know they buy Voodoo from their economic policies.
Science is a system of asking questions. First the hypothesis: Is this a real world, observable, quantifiable phenomenon? Second data collection: Can it be done objectively, with controls, & reproduceable results? Then the hard part: Can you face facts? Finally, summarize & publish.
Those of you unable to face facts have told us a great deal about your intellect & courage.
There are two other policies they have:
1. Pass a law outlawing global warming.
If that doesn't work:
2. Pray to god and have faith that will solve the problem.
And:
3. When all else fails, blame liberals.
I am a conservative and as usual you numbskull liberals don't have a clue about conservatives. Global warming is a fact.
"Pass a law outlawing global warming."
Right on, a brilliant solution...and then what.
So the worlds' science community has a vendetta to spread lies to make sure that the world spends more on energy, handcuffs businesses by proposing environmental laws, and they do this to create and keep jobs for themselves. Is this basically the conservative take on Global Warming?
Scientists have always spread the truth. Businesses are handcuffed by business school graduates. The environement consists of the land on which your food is grown, the water you drink, & the air you breath. Let's see how long you can do without these things.
How to be ignorant of facts, science, and the study of climate:
"It was this hot at MY House a decade ago, and it snowed in Houston two years ago...so this is all BS."
Or..."I refuse to accept the consensus of 98+% of the scientific community because my ideological, non-scientist leaders tell me I shouldn't believe them, and anyway sdince the Bible disproves evolution, all science is whack."
Brilliant.
No we refuse because 98% of them were guaranteeing global cooling 40 years ago. Only suckers fall for the same lies time and time again. In any event why not accept that there's nothing realistic we can do anyway and calm down.
40 years ago the concern was smog blocking the sun, & today it's CO2 augmenting the sun. Science has evolved ove the decades, unlike some of the folks posting here.
Hey Jeff, could you please point me to any real evidence of your claim about 98% of scientists 40 years ago? You are wrong and spreading lies.
There is nothing we can do??
Not doing something is doing something.
We must certainly can do something. We have a huge stockpile of natural gas. Unlike coal which is basically C, natural gas has a formula of CH4 so four times more hydrogen would burn than carbon which would reduce the amount of CO2 in the air significantly. We already know that with some minor modifications, current automobiles would burn natural gas and it would not take that much to modify gas engines for the future. Of course we would need to modify the the means for delivery. Many Coal plants could be modified to burn natural gas. Cars could be required to get more mileage. CO2 may possibly may possibly be pumped into underground (limestone??) caverns and sequestered.
The sun is the ultimate free source of enegy and we need to figure how to take advantage of it with solar systems.
If you check your bible it describes islands disappearing, crops (1/3) burning up, the oceans are dead, and 100 pound hail stones. When is possibly in OUR HANDS.
We can set the example for the rest of the world in new technologies and thereby offer great jobs to our kids.
Jeff-1570172: You wrote, "No we refuse because 98% of them were guaranteeing global cooling 40 years ago."
Nobody I know seems to recall this agreement. Citations please? For the record, here is what Wikipedia says about "Global Cooling"--it seems you are using another widely disparaged theory and simply imagining there was consensus:
"This hypothesis had little support in the scientific community, but gained temporary popular attention due to a combination of a slight downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s and press reports that did not accurately reflect the scientific understanding of ice age cycles. In contrast to the global cooling conjecture, the current scientific opinion on climate change is that the Earth has not durably cooled, but undergone global warming throughout the twentieth century."
Don't think nothing can be done about GW. That is propaganda spread by all those making BIG money now and keeping things the same as now, that don't want anybody else getting BIG money later by changing anything now. The definition of a Conservative.
Newsweek, April 28, 1975 Science Headline: The Cooling World.... serious political implications.... devastating tornado outbreak.... Makes the case for the upcoming Global Cooling and little ice age.... Droughts, floods oh, my! Today Global Warming, 4 decades ago Global Cooling! Which is it? I know the answer, POLITICS. Use any method available to control people's lives and limit their liberty and freedom. Yes, the earth gets warmer, the earth gets cooler. It has done that since BEFORE the dawn of man. It will continue long after we are gone. Enjoy life while you can1 If it's warm, go to the beach. If it's cold, go skiing!
This is the way the Progressives try to scare stupid people into doing what they want. Chicken little syndrome.
40 years ago the concern was smog blocking the sun, & today it's CO2 augmenting the sun. Science has evolved ove the decades, unlike some of the folks posting here.
And you know so much better than thousands of scientists? Yours is another ignorant conspiracy post.
Wikipedia on "Global; Cooling: "This hypothesis had little support in the scientific community, but gained temporary popular attention due to a combination of a slight downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s and press reports that did not accurately reflect the scientific understanding of ice age cycles. In contrast to the global cooling conjecture, the current scientific opinion on climate change is that the Earth has not durably cooled, but undergone global warming throughout the twentieth century."
A little research will show that more than 80% of scientists were predicting warming and a few were predicting cooling, and that was based largely on a paper by Stephen Schneider, a climate researcher at the Goddard Space Flight Center. Schneider changed his mind about his prediction within a few years.
Seriously, you looked for one item to support your ridiculous position and ignored the very easy to find multitude of citations that show the majority of scientists were predicting warming in the 1970s? Not honest at all.
I only recall one study that said we were heading for global cooling. It was a study of tree rings going back 2400 years. They cored redwoods, sequoias, and jack pines and then measured the rings. They found a wave pattern that they decided was caused by wet warm weather or cold dry weather where they cored the trees in northern California.
Extrapolating forward they said that we were in a cooling trend that would bottom out in 2011-2015. Then we would slowly start getting warmer.
Well, here we are. If those people were correct we will be getting much hotter very soon.
jimmy cracked all of my corn, and i don't care.
I guess it is true - we are totally doomed by global warming on the one hand and the proliferation of the tax crazy socialist bastard democrats on the other hand. God is punishing us. It is even too late to repent!
My tax rate was less than 15% which from my perspective is a great bargin to live in the greatest country in the world.
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!
Wow, North America has been around for 3,000,000,000 years, we started keeping track 115 years ago.
I wonder what it was doing in the 2,999,999,885 years we had no records??????
With .00000001% of the data available, we may as well make a snap decision, sorta like NBC election coverage in November.
It hasn't stopped you from publically showing your ignorance.
We do have records, in the rocks. There was no North America just 240,000 years ago, it was part of Gondwanaland (Google it), a super-continent. A few hundred million years prior to that it was part of Pangea (Google that too).
Unlike you, we've learned a lot over the last 115 years.
The earth was always a pristine, unspoiled wonder of nature, with the proper and unchanging balance of temperature, water, land and glaciers. Then a the fish took to land and became an upright mammal that created the SUV.
We have records in the rocks??? So like a "Rockologist" or something would check it for us, right?
Maybe a study of "weatherology" would help?
North America has been separating for 200,000,000 years, we have 115 years of records. Of course you can use your "rock thermometer" or some other weed powered device to check the temps a few million years ago, but how accurate is it, really?
Tell us, when you use a rock that is 300,000,000 years old to check ancient rainfall, how accurate is it?
I have one more question. Explain this region of North America http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palouse
It was created from wind blown soil during our many ice ages. Apparently, there were droughts in the past far worse than we have now. I bet if you looked farther back than 115 years, the phrases "worst ever" or "hottest ever" would sound as stupid to you as it does to anyone with a brain.
You are a ten year old, your worst day ever, is not the worst day EVER.
I'll come back later, I have to go outside and ask the gravel in my driveway how much the stock market is going to climb today.
BRING IT ON BABY!!!!!!!! LMAO!!! And to think there still so many right wing Rush republofascist cons who think global warming is a hoax!!!! We have already passed the tipping point. From this point forward, warming will accelerate and we will see the remaining polar ice disappear in no time. With more methane gas escaping from the thawing permafrost and the sky rocketing CO2 emissions from China, not to mention the increasing breadth of the water vapor feedback loop, things will really start heating up. And with salt water intrusion into low lying areas, there will be less arable lands as well so there will be a drop in food production. Isn't that great...? Plus the food that will be available will be crap! Hey, How about the fish kills in the mid west...? Wait till the thermohaline conveyor fizzles and the oceans become static. You will be able to smell the fish carcasses rotting in the oceans in places like North & South Dakota, Kansas, Colorado, etc...
I LOVE GLOBAL WARMING!!!!!
I bet the poor slobs born today are really going to love you for your sense of humor behind your procreation and unloading them in this nearly dead planet. Talk about being bag holders at birth!!!
Yep Crockett, it is just going to be AWFUL.
Yeah Wally, it sure is. Thank heavens for gloom and doom because if we didn't have any to hang on to as a ray of hope, we'd really be in bad shape!!
The concept of "global warming" is about weather extremes - record setting extremes.
Not only records in heat, but records in cold too. Record rainfall and record drought.
I lived on the same property since September of '66. I've recognized the changes in our weather - specifically the wind. Its way less rainy and much more windy since I first moved here in '66.
