Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin Griffin earned a Bronze Star.

The victims included Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin J. Griffin, the most senior enlisted soldier for the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. Griffin, 45, of Riverton, Wyo., was a Bronze Star recipient who first enlisted in the Army in 1988.

Maj. Thomas E. Kennedy, 35, of West Point, N.Y., and Air Force Maj. Walter D. Gray, 38, of Conyers, Ga., were also killed.

The attack occurred in Kunar province.

Afghan officials: 3 US special forces troops killed

(Citing a military official, NBC News earlier reported that Brigade Commander Col. James J. Mingus was badly wounded in the attack. However, an ISAF official said early Friday said that Mingus had not been injured.)

While their names may be not be well known, U.S. officials consider this a significant attack because the brigade leadership was taken out by a suicide bomber.

The soldiers were all assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division based in Colorado Springs, Colo.

American terrorism also carries a great weight on those that think terror by the Great Satan is OK.

Hey, you're in someone elses country, murdering, maiming and slaughtering innocents with your high tech toys because you covet their oil/gas and other natural resources. It's no wonder that the desperate Afghans are willing to throw their precious lives away in pursuit of the United Snakes (US/NATO) killers of innocent men, women and children.

C'est Le Vi, MFer's!

Afghanistan has oil and gas? Why didn't I get that memo? AZCowboy, do you have a cited source that I can read up on to determine the veracity of your comment on this thread?

Additionally, I do not subscribe to your other statements about our U.S. Military being killers of innocent men, women, and children. IF you are referring to a rogue warrior that went off the deep end and massacred those Afghans, that was NOT sanctioned by the United States Government or its allies. The U.S. Military fight using an order of the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) and the Uniformed Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and they live and breathe by it. Should someone violate the LOAC or the UCMJ, rest assured they are arrested and stand trial.

It isn't oil and gas in Afghanistan, although they have these, but minerals and rare earths, and especially the heroin trade which was restarted imediately upon the US invasion after the Taliban had shut the heroin trade in Afghanistan down.

It is way past time for the USA to withdraw our military and cut off all aid to this God-forsaken country living in the sixth century. Our soldiers gave their lives to try and save the people of Afghanistan from tyranny, but they don't want to be saved. They want to spread their death culture to the world. Let us decide that enough is enough.

Tom I'd have thought that God forsaken would apply to the aggressor nation and especially which nation's troops go out of their way to insult God and the religion of the people they are invading.

An ARMY of One is exemplified in the fighting spirit of aliveness that was in Sgt. Major's blazing eyes. May Our Eternal God grant his family the Comfort of His everlasting Love and Grace in this time of grief.

Now for some wisdom. AMERICAN SOLDIERS-PLEASE GET THIS THROUGH your heads. Muslims are commanded to lie/cheat/steal/murder all people not considered of their 'faith'.
