Authorities display a poster showing persons of interest during a news conference in Anaheim, Calif., Friday to announce Operation Halo.
A yearlong probe into one of Southern California’s most notorious street gangs netted dozens of arrests, 11 pounds of crystal meth and a cache of weapons, authorities said Friday.
The morning raid in Orange County, dubbed Operation Halo, involved more than 100 federal agents and Anaheim police officers. Their mission: Collar 49 people suspected of trafficking narcotics and firearms, said Christian Hoffman, a special agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Los Angeles.
“We took criminals and guns off the streets today,” Hoffman told NBC News. “In addition to that, we also got 11 pounds of methamphetamine, with a street value of well over $1 million. You can say we put a big dent in their drug trade today.”
Of those sought, 33 people were arrested on federal and state charges, while others were already in custody on unrelated charges, according to investigators. At least 11 people were taken into custody on federal narcotics charges, Hoffman said.
Authorities targeted 54 locations in East Anaheim, which is in Orange County, and parts of Los Angeles County, said Sgt. Bob Dunn with the Anaheim police force.

The firearms recovered during the operation included sawed-off shotguns, assault-style weapons and semi-automatic handguns, investigators said.
The raid follows a summer of gang-related violence and deadly officer-related shootings, including the deaths of two Latino men suspected of gang activity, according to police.
“There has been tension here over the last few weeks,” Dunn told NBC News. “But today's arrests have nothing to do with the shootings; it is only happenstance.”

...Hey, everybody, this is a GOOD thing! ...Finally a story about taking guns away from thugs instead of law-abiding Americans!!!! ...Thank you NBC!
No Idea the joy this brings me.
...Seriously, @Owned, all we keep hearing about are these nuts who are normal one day and go crazy the next and how all Americans need to give up their rights for what the nuts did. ...These filthy gangbangers kill more innocent people in one day than all the psychos in America kill in five years. ...Thank you So Cal cops for doin' your job!
I know, I have been active solely to thwart The Legal Firearm Owner Genocide.
And more proof that draconian gun laws (i.e. California's laws, rated by the Brady Campaign as the "best" in the nation) will not keep criminals from possessing and using restricted firearms (sawed-off shotguns, "assault style" weapons--whatever that means this week--etc).
Good work, LAPD.
You should see the shootouts on New York post youtube channel. There is even this one from Toledo Ohio on there that is beyond words. Criminals bypass all regulations. The legal Firearm owner should not suffer over the ecological fallacies these unrepresentative "anti gun studies" portray. Punish the criminals not the law abiding. That is justice.
Take them to Federal Court, send them to trial, and after conviction, throw them in jail and then throw away the key to their prison cells.
I wonder how many of these THUGS were in the United States LEGALLY. During their Federal court proceedings, check their immigration status. Oooooh, that might be a problem in California since some legislatures are wanting California to become the FIRST Sanctuary State:
Yeah, right....."except for those with serious felony convictions."
Next targets: San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose.
11 pounds seized, vs. 2,000 pounds manufactured last month, by court affidavit of Orange County court house. 11 pounds is jack @!$%# compared to 2,000 that's still on the streets, so I don't know where those police officers state they made a dent. There's over 100+ gangs with 10-50 peole per gang....that's over 1k-5k criminals...on the streets with 2,000 pounds of CRYSTAL meth.
I am not impressed. Label them enemy combatants, send in the military and kill them.
You do not want to send in the military. Do you realize the effects on society's compass of reality?
@KeyOrion, yes 11 lbs of meth doesn't compare to the 2000+ that is out there. But check out their inflated math? $1,000,000/30gr/oz/16oz/lb/11lb=$189/gr. I don't do meth, never bought meth, but if that is the calculated price per gram of meth how can junkies afford that kind of habit?! I mean really?
...Yes, where are the La Raza spokespeople, thanking the Southern California cops for cleaning up the 'hood and making it safer for law-abiding hispanics?
LA RAZA, they are only there if you are mentioning something not nice to their illegal friends and countrymen. But when it comes to their filth countrymen, they keep quiet because if the don't that will will hurt their agenda on amnesty. They are taking over. And every American is a quiet soul, maybe it will just blow over if the libs look the other way. Just like a magic blanket, "I see you but you don't see me."
Wad you know, they are all Hispandics. Profiling, hell no! They are the filth of this nation, all they bring is misery to everyone, even to their own family, they have no allegiance or honor to this nation. Instead of making themselves useful to society and making this country better...No way, they are loyal to their mother land Mexico. Now you see all you liberals what you have done to this great nation. When the get out of prison why don't you invite them for coffee and give them a lecture of the bad things they did, maybe they will listen to you liberals, NOT! They'd rather cut your cojones. Like drug dealers they are. Filth is what they are, actually if there was a word to describe them to be lower than filth, then that is what they are. Good job to the Police officers, agents and support staff that did this operation.
Military type action is needed in every major city in America. Sweep through clean out and capture the domestic drug terrorists. All illegal societal terrorists should be shot by firing squad. An example needs to be set.
You act as though you wouldn't be effected. Which is shortsighted. That example will be used further down the line maybe not how you like. The police need the tools and let them do it.
Hey Owbedbyfew, where's louie is correct. It is time to start making examples of the drug lords. Prison is nothing to them, it is a summer camp. Why do you not think China and some other countries do not have a major problem on drugs... Because the dealers do not last one day. 39 cents is better than feeding them throughout their life. And give me a liberal attitude. I came from those type of countries and lived in one, I have more experience than you. And to shut you up before you can answer... I catch drug dealers and the law is not fair to the innocent and honest civilians, only to the criminals. Maybe I should put you in a cell to live with these animals, that way you get first hand taste of what they do?
Look HM go back to what ever country you came from and see what i do to you if try doing anything to me loser. Your simpleton logic is suited for prison not USA. I understand the Constitution and Bill of Rights try me. Watch what happens commie.
Furthermore H M i am not Liberal moron. I am AMERICAN. Like i cant distinguish your kind.
i think anyone that wants to let the military come under power in the US is out of their mind. wasnt that how the Nazi rounded up the jews, but you think it would stop with just hispanics huh?
i am all for cleaning up the country... not by martial law. if you dont know what martial law entails... it would be no different than in Iraq, Afghanistan or any other nation we had martial law in, other than the place it is going on. the rules are the same, and response will be the same. and if you think being white, black, red, green is going to mean you are safe, think again.
Gangs should be treated as domestic terrorists. I don't care if they are drug gangs or not. They exist only to further control and intimidate others. If you cannot enjoy your own front porch without the chance of being shot at by these thugs, then they are domestic terrorists. Shoot, imprison or deport or all that applies.
You want what i want, The Department of Homeland Security to stop chasing the boogieman.
Score one for the good guys.
I don't suppose there will be any rallies for the good work the lawmen did getting the drugs and guns out of the hands of criminals.
Give to the Police Benevolent Society. That helps.
Good job boys in blue. Keep up the great job... you know there are far more out there... be safe...
That's IT? it seems so juvenile and petty compared the real Mafia Crooks in and out of Congress pulling everyone's shorthairs! 1 whole year = 12 arrests of punks, some feeble poundage of Meth - which every kid on the street is doing that or heroin - it is the easiest and cheapest stuff out there, thanks to our invasion of Afghansistan, we get their heroin. At this rate, ...nah - I'm done -0 they certainly earned their pay for the whole year.
We need to have separate prisons for organized crime perps where they never get out. Ever.
These arrests didn't do a thing to stop the flow of meth on the streets. I just went down to that neighborhood they were swarming over and bought some crystal and some blow. So good work boys, you may have taken a couple of dudes off the streets but the replacements are already on the scene. The trade hasn't skipped a beat, and the quality is as good as ever. Keep up the bad work!!
GOOD NEWS vs BAD NEWS?
The GOOD NEWS is that a dozens of ABSOLUTELY PURE SCUM got busted, etc.
The BAD NEWS is "they are all STILL ALIVE?" And, there are NO PAUL KERSEYS to help?
A ending to this story would be PERFECT is if EVERY SINGLE ONE of them were GUNNED DOWN... literally BLOWN away. Nothing would be "prettier" than to read about how their "unidentifiable bloody body parts were SPLATTERED like hamburger meat" across some local ghetto street as a "message to their sewer rat buddies?"
NO, see unfortunately... these laughing sewer rats will get out on bail... and continue to do everything they did to get busted in the first place? Then, "those who do show up for sentencing" will get very "limited jail-time", if any, and again, still be back on the streets in NO time?
At WHAT COST to the citizens of California?
Well, the citizens of California have NO one to blame but themselves. The citizens of California are "reaping what they've sown"... THEY elected and re-elected the politicians" who appointed the Judges... and hired the various administrative "bleeding heart liberals" who ALL act like all those ignorant, illiterate, brain-dead mothers who always say, "My boy is a good boy!"
I can't begin to imagine what kinds of "staggering costs" these "good boys" cost those communities in money, tragedy, crime, murders, violence and bloodshed.
So, "Go Ahead Cali!" After all the YEARS dangerous and expensive police work that's gone in to arresting this scum... just like you always do, Go REAL EASY on these "victims of society"... give them the same "lenient sentences you're famous for" and that way these "good boys" can continue to destroy your communities and your culture.
More BAD NEWS to follow... GUARANTEED !
Great job,
Now go do more!!!
28 ounces in a pound times $1600 = $44800 times 11 pounds is = $492800.00 Not well over a million. Well under. Quit lieing to the people and sensationalizing.
Witch! We have found a Witch! May we burn them? Sales and Manufacture are and should be illegal.
Leave the Witches alone. They are addicted to a drug that can never be free from. These people are our Brothers and Sisters who have fallen to temptation. Not any broken 10 Commandment I can see. Theft is worse then drug addiction.
The most dangerous animal on the planet is a starving or addicted human. Addiction and theft is synonymous. The best thing i ever saw regarding meth was an elderly group of neighbors which had enough of their private property being stolen from their garages. I come home from work and i see a group of senior citizens with shovels and pick axes marching down the street to confront the meth head house. It looked like a peasant uprising. They were victorious on their own, the enthusiastic reinforcements were not needed . Meth heads are weak and lack self esteem and scurry away from dignified people. The citizens of this country do not need to tolerate those which victimize them.
They can't help themselves, if they don't sensationalize the story they can't justify the amount of tax dollars they wasted in their investigation of these small time peddlers. While the real movers and shakers continue to pay their tax to the DEA (The top Cartel on the planet) and move their precious goods to feed the demand. Drugs are a multi Billion Dollar Business that can't be stopped. If you really wanted to end the Cocaine trade you could simply eradicate the jungles of Bolivia and Columbia where 95% of the Cocaine is grown. Then you don't need the DEA, you don't need drug counseling, you don't have Millions and Millions of people on probation paying a monthly probation fee to the courts. You don't have millions of people in prison because there won't be drugs that cause the crimes, you won't need all these task force cops because you won't have a trafficking problem. You won't have all of these family members spending money on funerals because there will be less violence on the streets which means less dead. You see it's the trickle down effect - Without drugs the money stops and when the money stops the world stops. Can't have that. You have to have drugs it makes economic sense.
HOW many ounces in a pound?
Did you go to school in Analhiem by any chance?
let's just assume they are all illegal-goodbye
ILLEGALS have infested our neighborhoods, jobs, schools, prisons...........................................cant begin to figure the amount of (our) tax dollars this has and will continue to cost US.
The authorities know about these people and allow them to commit their crimes due to a system that has revolving doors and only serve to pay the bills of the people involved in the legal process. I have a suggestion that might work. I sounds extreme but give it a listen.
We know these people right, including Pedophiles, drug dealers, sex slavery dealers, and so on...
Why not have a national lottery on the elimination of these various predators. After all, that is what we do if the Wolf Population gets too large, right? We have an abundance of ex military, outdoors men, hunters, policemen, and others, that would like an opportunity to clean the streets of America.
Lets say the Government identifies 1000 of the worst perpetrators, and sells lotery tickets for $100.00 a piece. If a million people buy a ticket, wow look at the profit. We could either pay the national debt or apply it to a solution to eliminate the Homeless situation.
1000 tickets are drawn, and given to the winners and they sign a strict contract where they are responsible for the safety of innocent people, no collateral damage allowed. Provide the winners with a choice of operation parameters and turn them loose. Do not let the information for the perps to go public. The next year, every bad person in the country will be wondering if their names are on the list.
Sounds like good wholesome fun to me. Sort of a surgical strike against the cancer of drugs and sagging morals.
Good job Anaheim P.D.! Now they will be sent to the Penitentiary with the rest of their ilk. Do not expect rehabilitation, they usually come out smarter and more dangerous than before. They also get alot of street cred for doing hard time. Prison is not a deterrent when the gangs run the prisons. Pelican Bay is one exception to the rule. We need more prisons like that.
