Updated 8 p.m. ET: FORT WORTH, Texas -- Brittni Colleps, the Kennedale teacher accused of having improper sexual relationships with several of her students, has been found guilty on all counts of five indictments against her.

Colleps was sentenced to five years in prison Friday afternoon.

Colleps showed no emotion as the guilty verdicts were read on all 16 counts of the indictments. Her husband, on the other hand, was emotional and crying as his wife, with her bail now revoked, was led from the courtroom in the custody of the state.

Colleps was indicted on five charges of having an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and student after school officials learned of the allegations and took the matter to the Arlington police.

The trial began earlier this week with graphic testimony including text messages and a cell phone video that showed one of the alleged sexual incidents. The prosecution wrapped up their case Thursday before closing arguments began Friday morning.

The five victims all testified to having a sexual relationship with the married mother of three in her Arlington home between April and May of 2011. All five of the students were in Colleps' senior English class in the spring of 2011 and all of the victims were at least 18 when the incidents occurred.

Brittni Colleps, shown in court on Thursday, has been found guilty on all counts of five indictments against her for having improper relationships with five of her students.

Despite their age, Texas law forbids sexual relationships between teachers and students, even if the students are legal adults and consent to the relationship. Several of the victims testified Thursday to not wanting to testify in the trial with one of them saying he didn't want to press charges.

After closing arguments, the jury took about an hour to render the verdict.

Wouldn't you know Texas would criminalize such conduct. Yes, it was probably wrong for her to boff her students, but was anyone hurt? I don't think so. In fact, it was probably a good introduction to sex for all of those involved. Yes, she should be fired and her husband should divorce her, but that seems more than enough punishment for merely fulfilling a human urge. Get real, you religious freaks.

It is a criminal act in every state that I know of. It isn't a criminal act to have sex with an 18 year old ... it is a criminal act to have sex with your student.

Mother of three and married and she screws it all up by humping her students.

Imagine what her children will be going through their entire time as students. If any of the kids are girls all the boys will be asking if they are like their mother.

If she was lonely while her husband was serving his country she should have bought some sex toys.

How can having sex with a person who is willing and of age be a crime? I don't care if they were teacher-student or Boss - Employee if it's mutual agreed upon sex where is the crime???? We are becoming the most a*s backwards society on the planet. Other Countrys look at us and laugh at how backwards we have become....Ramblingsfromthekoolaidstand dot blogspot dot com

Read the article. The law in Texas states that it is illegal for a teacher to have sex with students - age doesn't matter. Like it or not, that's the law. Too bad she didn't have the sense to know that. Got to use our heads out in this world. Too many people think they can do whatever they want with no consequences. That's why adults are supposed to consider consequences - for the safety of younger people - and for themselves. So, when people "play stupid" the consequences can be horrendous!

Excuse me but it is Romney and the republicans that want to take the country back all right....back to the stone age. By the way the last I knew Texas is a republican state is it not?

Let me guess are we about to invoke the sex addiction clause here just like all the Hollywood nut jobs do when they try to explain why they can't keep it in their pants? Oh well hope she's not just into dudes because she'll likely be popular and entertained where she's about to go.

Really stupid and ridiculously unnecessary! At what point do teachers "get it" that they can't have sex with students? I mean, really, if they are going to have an affair, can't they find an adult? Someone outside of where they work? Someone who isn't a student?

Bad enough that she is running around on her husband, but with students? That's just stupid! I guess she wasn't too worried about her kids without a mom. Probably best that she won't be a teacher any more. If she doesn't have more sense than that, who needs her teaching youngsters Wow!

Imagine the money she could have made from these guys. I just happen to have a few extra bucks at the moment too. Where do I sign up for night school? And people reminisce about the good old days...man, these are the good old days!

I am almost speechless at the inanity of the comments on this article. If the roles were reversed and this were a male teacher and female students, people would be clamoring for the teacher to be hung from the nearest tree. There is a double standard in this culture concerning sexuality which leads to men being demonized and women getting a free pass when they need to be given punishment equal to the men. One more thing, the law is the law and there is a reason for that law: the part of the brain which influences judgment and self-control is not fully developed until about age 22; teachers have too much authority and influence over their students to reasonably expect the student used good judgment in getting into a sexual relationship with someone older.

If the situation was a male teacher and 5 hot to trot senior girls all 18 I say its no different.

Every male student in this country runs across at least one teacher they wish they could engage in relations with. I'd name a few of my own teachers I'd have loved the chance to sleep with, but I have respect for them enough not to do so.

Anyone who says men cannot be victims are lying to themselves. At that age, the slightest suggestion can stiffen things up. From there, it's a matter of either choosing to satisfy that young male desire to be with a teacher, or possibly misleading them or using threats that if they don't participate, they get hurt, held back, etc. Without knowing all the details though, I would hesitate to say they knew what they were doing.

And on a side note: Female teachers taking liberties with underage boys is on the rise over the last 15 years. In 2009, women teachers overtook men teachers in this crime arena, and now are outpacing them. If you're a teacher who needs some excitement, use some common sense. At least go after students who have already graduated, or find someone discreet with which to satisfy your desires.

I personally contribute it to all the chemicals and hormones shoved in our foods. As with many women who by the time they graduate have breast sizes in the D-cup and larger range (which is a recent phenomenon), males are producing sometimes 4x the pheromone production compared to 15 years ago. That pheromone production may be what's driving these women to do this sort of thing.

Prison time for this would be ridiculous. Probation, make her do community service for a year or two, why not? Sleazy, skank?--it would seem, but why should taxpayer's foot a bill for her sitting in jail?

I do not believe some people who get angry over 5 men having sex with a woman and writing how she hurt her family? there are individuals in office who have done worse. Sex is sex and so what. Texas does have their head up there rear end when it comes to common sence. AND what does gay have to do with this article of national enquierer? The woman is tearing and a Texas reporter can not see this? The news has moral problems. Texas Grow up!! You may be a big state but that means more bull.. .. Goes well together.

These morality lynchers are a bunch of super hypocrites. Did she put a gun to their heads? No. Could these "minors" behave, act like adults? Ubetcha, ergo I don't see what the big problem, crime is. Aren't war crimes millions of times worse? Yes and yet why our war criminals are roaming free while this teacher will have her life ruined because the "children" couldn't say no? I'm sorry, but after one time, those "children" lose all credibility in my book. Once is rape, many times is a vice. Sex is normal and just because morality lynchers feel that sex is getting out of hand, well that doesn't give anybody the right to throw away the baby with the bathwater. We have become worse than the pharisees of Christ's era. If we don't do any thing to war criminals, should we be doing something to "minors" that obviously were as horny as her. Miscarriage of justice.

This is not called a crime. This is called a fantasy. That's why the boys didn't want to press charges. People today are so unbelievably stupid. When are we going to stop this "men and women are exactly the same" nonsense and realize that something that will be traumatic to a young girl will actually be a confidence builder for a young boy?

MEN AND WOMEN SHOULD BE EQUAL BUT WE ARE NOT THE SAME, YOU IDIOTS!!

Dave - Not how Texas sees it, obviously! Texas law makes it illegal for a teacher to have sex with students, no matter what their age. Like it or not, that's their law. Pretty stupid for a teacher to not know the laws of the state she lives and teaches in when she plans to have sex with students.

Glad she won't be teaching any more. Not because of the sex, but because of her stupidity. I agree with BeeCee - don't make excuses for her.

My sympathies to her husband and most of all to her kids! She obviously wasn't concerned about her kids, was she?

Your comment makes no sense and because it makes no sense it sounds stupid and that makes you stupid. The Constitution prohibits torture, indefinite detentions, black boxes, extraordinary renditions, war crimes and yet, those war crimes, the Taj Mahal of law breaking, doesn't get war criminals a day in jail, so your comment is asinine. If we were the Snow White of jurisprudence, maybe, but other than that, all our war crimes pale in comparison to having sex with minors. Didn't the retard pervert from Texas killed a million plus of innocent civilians, mostly women and children? Yes, he did so, your commentary is dismissed. The 13 year old that knocked up Mary Lettourneau didn't feel a "victim" and he said so himself, ergo, if a boy who knows what he was doing doesn't feel a "victim", why others, specialy those that go back for seconds, thirds, 15 years later, should feel raped? Pure hypocrisy, pure morality lynching, but justice? Never!
