In the first place you can't divorce a spouse while he is deployed unless he signs a waiver called the Sailor and Soldiers Right Act - this came into play after Viet Nam because a lot of service men were coming back home to find out that they were divorced, in the second place filing for divorce does not make you single no matter how much you try to justify it, you are MARRIED until the judge signs that divorce decree. But the thing is, we don't know the circumstances of the divorce. How do we know that the two of them didn't agree to separate before he left? How do we know he wasn't abusive and him being gone was the only safe time for her to leave him? You cannot say definitively that she knew about the sexual games that he liked. Exactly TJHarris. My husband is in Afghanistan and even if I was considering leaving him I would certainly wait till he was home and tell him in person. It's revolting the way some treat our service people overseas.

The headline, now since changed, was wrong by stating 'acts' instead of 'attacks'. Since we do not know exactly how she died (nor do I want to), the use of rape could be wrong. Rape has a very narrow definition, and she may not have died due to the 'rape', as defined. However, she certainly died due to the sexual attack, which could include any number of horrible things.

Again, the words "sexual acts" implies consent, but the new words, "sexual attacks" is more appropriate.

I don't know what happened in this case, but the headline could have been more accurate if it simply stated that she died during a sexual assault.
