But what about you? You might be unemployed too. Or find work in the Welfare department. That is the department that will be really hiring under Obama. Oh forgot, IRS will be hiring too. That will be the moto of new America. IRS will rob people with money and Welfare will be spending and giving it away to all those who don't want to work. That is called Obamanomics.

It was somewhat unsettling to watch Clint's talk. As an actor, I really like the guy. However, his politics don't settle well with me. I do give him credit for speaking on the cuff. It was kind of clumsy, and yet it was kind of gutsy. I would have to say to Clint that the poor and middle class really need a hero, too.

Willard, The poor and middle class are going to benefit how under Obama? Sustained unempoloyment, Rising Inflation, Rising Interest Rates, Jobs going over sea's due to increasing regulations, Increasing illegal immigrants that are an unskilled work force that leach on social programs, Cutting the space program (the home of some of the most important innovation this country has ever seen) and now the weakening of our defense systems that keep this country safe. Right now middle class is laying on the floor, why would you want to stay there? Especially when any other choice would have no other direction to go then up, and I believe that Romney/Ryan have still more experience than our lean on the job president that is there now!

Shyam - yes you are correct if Romney wins, the IRS will go after your money. He will need to pay somehow for the tax breaks for the millionaires. Oh and the unemployment lines will be longer since the Government will not be able to bail anyone out anymore. Oh the deficits will be higher since we will be getting ready for wars with Russia, Iran and whomever else is pisses him off. At the end he will move to Cayman islands altogether as there will not be the USA as we know it anymore.

Romney says he is going to cut taxes for everyone and pay down the deficit. With what? That sounds just great to those who believe in magic. As for Clint Eastwood, I think it would have been better if Republicans had spared that poor old man the embarrassment. If he had performed in his movies as he did last night, his acting career would have ended before it began.

We are STILL waiting for George "Curveball" Bush to "take responsibility" for destroying the entire United States Economy, but the fact is, Republicans NEVER take responsibility for any of their failures, they just claim amnesia and pretend nothing ever happened.

Romney has lined up all of Bush's old failed Cabinet and Staff members who lied us into War and borrowed and spent us into the 2nd Great Depression, and all Republicans can say is "Let's do it again"? Some might think of collapsing the entire United States Economy as domestic terrorism, and here's what I dont understand, why do Republicans think of the destruction they caused the entire United States Economy was some kind of a "success" for them to stand on, and then repeat?

Either you have confused "liberals" with "right wing nut jobs" or you haven't been listening for the past 3-1/2 years that Republicans have been doing NOTHING BUT constantly repeating their hate speech and talking points nonstop. So, don't pee on our shoes and try to tell us it's raining, Bob. You have to be a Republican to make up the lie that liberals are the ones that have been "hateful", because that would certainly be an oxymoron.

By sheer viture of the fact that we are called "liberals" implies that we are much too free, gracious and kind, which are some of the things Republicans hate the most about "liberals". We're much too "peace loving" to suit the rowdy warmongers.

All you folks who think Clint is a senile old man are extremely ignorant! There is a thing in Hollywood that actors have done for centuries on stage and on screen, it's called AD-LIBBING the moment. Many movies we see, especially comedies, contain many moment of ad-libbing. Jeff Dunham ad-libs every time he walks on stage, although he has a prop (much like the empty chair) with Peanut, Walter or any of the characters he has. He argues with the characters but in reality he argues with himself.

As for Clint Eastwoods speech I thought it was funny as h3ll but at the same time too the point and thought provoking. And, if ya'll noticed, Clint didn't have cards or teleprompters, which means he AD LIBBED the entire speech, but from his heart. It is time to Let Go of BO for not doing what he promised in 2008. He made 576 promises to the American people that he would see in his 1st term and so far he hasn't hit anywhere near 100, and then he changed those around a lot.

So Liberals, get a life see the funny in fun, don't shoot a man down because he is old. Eastwood still has a clear mind and a certain wit about him the made me laugh and lightened my day a bit. He still pumps out great movies as a director and an actor.

Either that or you folks have something against us old folks!

It's amusing reading the little limp-wristed Libbies comments.

Of course the outrage is being pointed at Clint Eastwood. Their little ego's have been crushed as a Hollywood titan exposes the emptiness of our current Imposter in Chief. The metaphor is overwhelmed by the reality of a president AWOL from his responsibility. And of course the Barrack Hussein camp "Tweets" some old picture of him sitting in a chair claiming "This seat's taken".

ROTFLMAO!!!!

He hasn't met with his Cabinet or Jobs Council since 1/17/2012. He hasn't passed a budget for 1,220 days. He hasn't improved the economy for his whole term. He can claim this seat's taken, but inaction speaks louder than words.

This empty chair is symbolic. Symbolic of an empty presidency that would rather berate success and promote mediocrity. Ridicule the successful and advocate dependency. Pander to minorities promising them more Bread and Circuses rather than real jobs.

Barrack Hussein is a failure. There is no metric that can refute this fact. The hysteria has waned and the misery has been experienced. It’s time to do what our Declaration of Independence demands of us,,,

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

As Clint so eloquently stated, “And when somebody does not do the job, we got to let them go.”

No truer words can be spoken.

Mark L--- Did Mr Bush inherit a budget surplus or deficit?

A deficit, why?

Unless you’re one of those buffoons that believes in the mythical “Clinton surplus”. If there was a surplus why was there no reduction in any year’s debt following the previous year? Because there was no surplus. It was just typical Washington smoke and mirrors manipulating the Public Debt and Intragovernmental Holdings. Every president has been doing it since LBJ changed the accounting method for the Social Security Trust Fund allowing it to be included in the General Fund so he could make the Vietnam War appear less costly.

What Mr. Bush DID inherit, however, was a severe recession when the dot-com bubble finally popped and then 9/11 happened.

Did Mr. Obama inherit a budget surplus or deficit?

Well, you’ll have to ask the Democrats who controlled Congress from 2007 through 2010. I’m sure they can tell you how they screwed that mess up.

Do canada, sweden, denmark or even the UK have to spend this much to keep themselves safe?

Psssttt, none of those nations have a population over 62 million people. Try to keep up Sparky.

The defence budget is unjustifiable

The defense budget is VERY justifiable. You do realize it’s one of the 18 Enumerated Powers our Constitution demands our government is responsible for, right?

What is UNJUSTIFIABLE and unsustainable is our $220 trillion of Unfunded Liabilities.

A society with unequal opportunities is a bigger risk to this country

We do have equal opportunities, what you Libbies confuse that with is equal outcomes. That’s what is a bigger risk to our country.

Not one of the liberals was capable of understanding the metaphor that Clint used. They danced around and whined and claimed he was old and crazy and what all, and what he did was so over their heads that they will never figure it out (well, it was explained but still.) It was damned funny and spot-on. As to the current crop of Clint bashers, do you honesty think he gives a sh!t about what you think?

As to Obama's response, that was funny too. Time for a bit of levity, the bashing is getting real old and dirty campaigns are ever so tiring, boring and downright stupid. Talk about facts or the plans of the candidates, when a campaign descends to the levels that this one has, kinda make you wonder what they have to offer besides dirt.

There money they were going to retire on and live there golden years. Romney stole that money and then didn't pay tax on it and hide the money offshore. That is what a thief dose. We not only need a hero right now, But we need to come together behind our Hero Barack Obama and elect a real democrat congress and senate, then we can get this country moving again. We also need to put it to a national vote to out law lobbing. the only way we will ever get a Representative government back. Right now the only ones that are being representative are the rich. The thing is our votes only count if we can stop the people we vote in don't just get bought off by rich people, to vote the way they want them to vote.

Mitt Robme was just as sheepish as I thought he would be, and I wouldn't think that he has ANY kind of a powerful or influential presence, nor could Robme stand up to the Industrial Military Compex.

He didn't give ANY insight into HIS vision of the future for the Aemrican People, nor did he reveal any ideas he has about foreign policy, or domestic policy, or ANY policy. Nothing!

I'm not one that would agree to put all of our trust and faith in CORPORATIONS to do the right thing for the American People.

All I saw last night was a guy who wants to be President for no particular reason.

Robme never has been any good at creating "Jobs"! He came in 47th out of 50 in job creation, and he never held a job in life.

Nope voted for a good speaker - with teleprompter, lots of Hope and Change. But in the end he was just a Fast and Furious gun running liar.

I have taught acting for nearly 30 years. I have students on Broadway and in movies. I would say that Mr. Eastwood's performance was worthy for an acting, or improvisation class, but was inappropriate for a political convention. Romney also gave an interesting performance. He was believable when it came to his family and his parents, but the rest came across as very poor acting. He did not appear to believe his own words. You could see the changes in his eyes and voice when it came to things like foreign affairs, taking care of the poor, the elderly and the economy. I wouldn't cast him in my next play and I certainly wouldn't vote for him for president.

"He should have put the orangutan in the chair..."

Really? You must have been the one at the RNC throwing peanuts at the African American CNN camera lady and calling her "an animal". Your comment well explains Republican rage at Obama. We've had plenty of liberal presidents and there was never this much hate...but when the black liberal dude showed up and won the oval office, Republicans became unhinged! Shows their true "colors". And I don't mean ethnicity, I'm talking about their true colors of hypocrisy, racism, lack of empathy for the poor, war mongering, deceitfulness, lying, and forcing the middle class to pay more, so they don't have to! Then they accuse the unemployed as being lazy and not looking for work while they ship thousands of jobs to India and Mexico and Indonesia for dirt cheap labor...all the while screaming "In God we trust"! Last I checked, God's face was not on the hundred dollar bill! Yup, put the businessman in charge cuz cousin Mitt's gonna get you a job...in China!

I don't hold the Democrats blameless, but it was this kind of "monkey", "witch doctor", "he's a socialist", "let the poor starve and the uninsured get sick and die", talk from the right that turned me off and away from the Republican party. They talk the Christian talk, but don't walk the Christian walk. They like to invoke the name of the Lord, but their hearts are far, far from Him!!

Wait a minute! What's that in the picture with Clint? Isn't that one of those teleprompter screens? You mean the great bard of the silver screen didn't commit his "lines" to memory? I guess after troting a first term governor of the state with the smallest population last time they figured they would go with a one term mayor of a very wealthy extremely small artist enclave town. What does wiki say about Mr. Make My Day?

Eastwood registered as a Republican to vote for Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and endorsed Richard Nixon's 1968 and 1972 presidential campaigns. However, during the subsequent Watergate scandal, Eastwood criticized Nixon's morality and later his handling of the Vietnan War, calling it "immoral". He has disapproved of America's wars in Korea (1950–1953), Vietnam (1964–1973), Afghanistan (2001–present), and Iraq (2003–2011), believing that the United States should not be overly militaristic or play the role of global policeman. He considers himself "too individualistic to be either right-wing or left-wing",describing himself in 1974 as "a political nothing" and "a moderate" and in 1997 as a "libertarian". "I don't see myself as conservative," Eastwood has stated, while noting in the same breath that he isn't "ultra-leftist" either. At times, he has supported Democrats in California, including liberal Representative Sam Farrin 2002 and Governor Gray Davis, whom he voted for in 1998 and hosted pricey fundraisers for in 2002 and 2003. A self-professed "liberal on civil rights",Eastwood has stated that he is pro-choice on abortion. He has endorsed same-sex marriage and contributed to groups supporting the Equal Rights Amendment for women, which failed to receive ratification in 1982. In 1992, Eastwood acknowledged to writer David Breskin that his political views represented a fusion of Milton Friedman and Noam Chomsky.

As a politician, Eastwood has made successful forays into both local and state government. In April 1986 he was elected mayor for one term in his home town of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California – a small, wealthy town and artist community on the Monterey Peninsula. During his term he tended towards supporting small business interests and advocating environmental protection. In 2001 Eastwood was appointed to the California State Park and Recreation Commission by Governor Davis, then reappointed in 2004 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger As the vice chairman of the commission, in 2005 along with chairman Bobby Shriver, he led the movement opposed to a six-lane 16-mile (26 km) extension of California State Route 241, a toll road that would cut through San Onofre State Beach. Eastwood and Shriver supported a 2006 lawsuit to block the toll road and urged the California Coastal Commission to reject the project, which it duly did in February 2008

Sound like a Republican to you? I have to wonder if grandpa actually knew where he was last night? I guess since they couldn't get Charlton Heston they settled for Clint. Dirty Harry would have been a great pick if this was 1972!

During the 2008 United States presidential election Eastwood endorsed John McCain, citing the fact that he had known McCain since he returned to America in 1973 as a recently released POW. Saying of the famous war veteran, "I met him years ago when he first came back from Vietnam. This was back when (Ronald) Reagan was the governor of California and he had a big function for all of the prisoners of war who were released. I thought he was a terrific guy, a real American hero." Nevertheless, Eastwood, in an expression of patriotism, wished Barack Obama well upon his subsequent victory saying, "Obama is my president now and I am going to be wishing him the very best because it is what is best for all of us.". However, Eastwood has seemed to want stronger leadership from President Obama, stating in 2010, "I think he's a nice fella and I enjoyed watching him come along and I enjoyed watching him campaign and win the job. But I'm not a fan of what he's doing at the moment. ... I just don't think he's governing. I don't think he's surrounded himself with the people he could have surrounded himself with." In January 2011, Eastwood told the UK's Daily Mail that "I loved the fact that Obama is multi-racial. I thought that was terrific, as my wife is the same racial make-up. But I felt he was a greenhorn, and it turned out he didn’t have experience in decision-making." As for McCain, Eastwood reflected, "I voted for McCain, not because he was a Republican, but because he had been through war (in Vietnam) and I thought he might understand the war in Iraq better than somebody who hadn't. I didn't agree with him on a lot of stuff."

Less go. You have hit the nail right on the head. I have never seen such Hippocrates as the Rep's and the So called Christian Conservatives. What a crock! Not one of these people know what it is to be a Christian or a Conservative. Just saying one is a Christian or a Conservative dose not make you either. I do not claim to be a Good Christian, and I am not a Conservative for even a second. I do not go to church anymore because I got sick of these so called Christians that think they are better the others because they go to Church every Sunday. But not one of them would do one thing to help there fellow man. Who do they think they are fooling. To they think they are fooling the Lord? NOT. Do they think they are fooling there fellow man, NOT. The only one they are fooling is them. Most of these Churches today only want well to do people in their Church's. They don't want to help the poor like Jesus would do, and did. I do not claim to be a Christian, But I am more Christian then all them put together. I have had the riches. But that is not what did it for me. Me living up in that big house looking down on others. I have seen what it did to my kids. We can all live well if we all work together. Back in my younger days, people that were better off worked 80 hr a week, that is why they had more money. But they didn't steel it from others like Mitt did. and he will stand there and look you right in the eye and say he earned his money honestly. Honestly.....Really. And someone complains about the kids in the movements. Am I crazy or was Capitalism when Henry Ford Started the first assembly line. That was capitalism. This Great American knew that if he could pay his workers a fair wage, they could afford to drive a Ford, own a home and live the american dream. I look at Ford today and the way they treat there workers. William Ford Jr, is right down there every day and talk's with the people, and they love that man. That is what Capitalism is all about.

I just thought that Clint talking to a chair was not funny enough, and Clint talking to an ape would have had far more appeal than the 'go ahead, make my day, punk' line.

Clint Eastwood is a good actor, and a great director. He has his opinion. Let's hope for all of us who are not part of the rich "good old boys" circle, that Romney does NOT get elected. I never thought I would be able to say this, but Romney is worse than Bush. He is the puppet that the "monied elite" have chosen to keep things going their way. No middle of the road. Only the rich will prophet from this clown. Who ever saw to it that such a clown got to be a candidate for these United States are getting their pockets lined if we elect Romney as the president. I am a Democrat and I say we. We have to get out and vote. If Romney gets elected, it is because we did not get up and do our duty to see that Obama is re-elected.

It just struck me. The Rep's have been stuck on Reagan. All they can say that Ron Reagan was the great hero of the Rep party. Well Mitt is no Ron Reagan, Not even close. But although I respect Ron Reagan but what he did is bankrupt this country, Sure he dismantled the USSR, But was that such a good thing? and we all know his trickle down Crap didn't work. And we also know he spawned the Licks of Dick Cheney, and Rumsfeld. And I Mean no disrespect to young Ron Reagan. but the truth is Ron Sr. was in the begging stages of Alzheimer. In all reality he should have never ran for a second term. But we did try his trickle down theory. It didn't work. So why would we try it again. That is the meaning of insanity. Trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. All that accomplished was to make rich people richer. That is all it will do again, is make rich people richer, while the rest suffer. Is that what they call Capitalism, Take from the poor and give to the rich. Is that free market, when the people at the top fix the prices like Gas, food, housing, rent and now wages. I have always thought it is wrong that farmers do all the work, and made the least. People that work for a living do all the work and the people at the top make all the money. Does anyone think the CEO deserve all the money they make. What ever happened to earning a honest living. These people get these huge bonuses for running a company into the ground. But the Unions must be busted. If that is capitalism then it is wrong. Romney or anyone else should not be able to buy a company that has a fully funded retirement program, and then steel that money. That should not be legal. Not in the America I know and love. That first and foremost is what is wrong with this country.

chuck-2111043It just struck me. The Rep's have been stuck on Reagan. All they can say that Ron Reagan was the great hero of the Rep party. Well Mitt is no Ron Reagan

I find this statement quite humorous considering former President Clinton is being brought out before the crowds at the Democrat convention. You are right, Romney is no Reagan, but Obama is not even close to Clinton.

Silly posts continue. For our Republican friends here telling Obama supporters to move out of the USA, you might want to consider the irony in such a statement. Residents of the USA who do not want Obama as president are in the minority. America has voted, and the majority chose Obama. Republican's are often quick to take pride in their hatred toward minorities in the USA, yet many don't seem to get that they, as a Republican, are a minority in our country.

Tough guy talk about taking back the country is a little too little too late. You lost it long ago. You may recall that the last time a Republican was elected, he did not have the popular vote, he won by grace of the electoral college. In the next election, Obama won by a landslide with the popular vote. In other words, this is America, the majority of Americans have spoken and chosen Obama. Telling the majority to leave is silly...ain't gonna happen. You are outnumbered. Your only choice at this point is to move out of the country yourselves, otherwise to "take it back" you'll need to declare civil war against the majority of Americans and give it your best shot to take it back by force against the magority of America's residents and the greatest military force in the world.

          Chunk,

That is true and why it is so sad. The current GOP would be way too far right for Regan. He would be an Independent compared to where they are now, if not a Moderate Democrat. They also have forgotten that he raised taxes seven times.

As for Clint, I did not watch his speech however this will provide Colbert and Stewart and all the other political comedians with a ton of material. The fact that Clint was trending over Romney is not a good thing either, as others have mentioned.

This liberal found Eastwood "skit" funny. I don't think it helped Romney any. Did Romney speak after that? I missed it. I watched "Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell," FX's new show. Also very funny. I'll watch the Romney speech in the middle of the day when I can at least try to stay awake.

Way to go Clint, the only problem that I could see with the skit was there was no teleprompter in front of the chair. What if anything has obama done for this country that was a benefit? He,s put in more czars than Russia had,put people in his cabinet ,that should not be there(holder, gietner, napalitano and two bleeding heart liberal supreme court justices that should not be there.Keeps one on the bench that should be tried for treason(our constitution is outdated should be replaced with one like south africa, ruth bader ginsburg)And let,s not forget our leader?making deals with the Russians on a open mike for after his reelection, his trying to get rid of freedom of speech and taking away of Americans to bear arms.Backing Fast and Furious eric holder and batf selling guns to drug cartels as ruse to get rid of guns in the USA that lead to murder border patrol agent Brian Terry and at least 300 Mexican nationals.obama hasn,t quit campaigning since he was elected. He gets 4 more years and nobody will recognize what was once a great country.GOD BLESS THE United STATES OF AMERICA

Last night was a poor example of what the republicans can do for our country. As for Clint he looked like a fool. Romney we do not care about your religion we care about what you are going to do to make the country better. Obama is a much smarter man that you will ever be he just has not had enough time to correct the mistakes that the last republican did to our country. All you have done is run a smear campaign because you don't know any better and you call yourself a morman. What a joke if you have so much money help the country out and stop trying to make the rich richer. You need to get a life. I will not be voting for you and I will make sure I encourage all my friends to do the same. Go run your crooked businesses. OBAMA 2012

Personally I found what Mr. Eastwood did was funny and chances are that in his head Obuma has said what Mr. Eastwood implied. That being said it does not matter to me what either party says or does I made up my mind as to who I am voting for and am sooooo sick of politics I want to puke, so the comedy last while unique was needed. Hey we have put up with a big joke for 3 1/2 years so what is the matter with a 10 minute joke?

Like Mr Eastwood portrayed, Obama is like talking to an empty chair. I pray to God we survive what he has ruined. GOD BLESS MY COUNTRY, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Obama's promises were not lies. He just did not count on having a bunch of Republicans slap down everything he tried to do for the country. Do your homework nutcases. They plotted from the moment he took the oath. To hell with the people, to hell with the country...defeat Obama. That was their plan. Will their outrageous lies work? When I read Flapjaw's remarks it is scary. He must watch FOX. People like him don't even know they are lies and don't seem to know that the Republican voter suppression project is real. Shame on you!!!

Personally, I loved Clint Eastwood. It was hilarious. Nothing better than seeing another Republican fall flat on his face. HE SURE MADE MY DAY. LOL Now we know why they call him DIRTY HARRY. Too bad this tipsy old man did not know there were children present when he opened his filthy mouth.

                  STOP THE PRESSES!

It appears, for the first time, a Republican has admitted Mr. Bush's fault for the economic crisis!

                  And I quote:

Thank you, No.7, for being at least one honest Republican!

Perhaps now the rest of Mr. Bush's Teflon will begin to slough off in the eyes of the faithful and they, too, can see the colossal failure his "presidency" was for America and the world.

If only No. 7 had "gone the distance" and not written "Romney/Ryan 2012."

You Can't TRUST Republicans (or Clint Eastwood.)

                  What Republicans Say:

Chris Christie - On Aug 28, 2012 Tampa, used the word "Truth" 16 Times in his keynote speech at the RNC convention. And he specifically said this…

                  • We have a nominee who will tell us the truth and will lead with conviction. And now he has a running mate who will do the same.

                  What Republicans Do:

Romney pollster Neil Newhouse stated: "We're not going [to] let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers." ... on the same day as Christie's speech, during an ABC News/Yahoo! News event at the RNC Convention.

                  Then Paul Ryan Spoke:

... and Fox News contributor Sally Kohn had this to say about Paul Ryan's convention speech on August 29th, 2012

                  • … anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan's speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech.

Republicans SAY ONE THING and DO ANOTHER.
How can anyone TRUST a Republican?

tegrities, ALL politics aside! There is no way Romney or any other President will ever repair this mess in 4 years, why let him spill his backward moral beliefs on us too? I'll stick with the President who inherited a 7 year war and is less than 1yr removed.. Again, I was never made aware that a Countries economy is supposed to flourish during war? But, what the hell do I know?? (I guess if you make kevlar, bullets and guns or own a bunch of oil you'll be okay.) Mitko Pitko, what about them? I am sure they would be much funnier and have an actual point to make. Repubs have absolutely no clue when it comes to entertainment. If it is not country music, they are lost. they are great on spending someone else money though.

gordanfan. You think that because the Rep's ran this country into the ground, and these kids that have taken on huge debit to go to Collage just to come out and have to work at McDonald's with there degree's. Well they are bad as hell. How many people at the top are in Jail for there part in this melt down. The Rep's keep saying that people bought homes they couldn't afford. Well what about the bankers that sold them adjustable mortgages, when they could have put them into fixed. Think that might have had something to do with it. Or what about letting the people just tell them what they made and never checking there income out before letting them have a mortgage. Who's fault was that. See these brokers are used car sales men. They get paid by the sale. The didn't care. They set the people up for failure. Not only in the housing market, but in the car business also. Car salesmen tell you how to lie about your income, just to get you financed. Sure you might be able to keep up for a year or so, then in the middle of the night, they send someone to take the car back. So they set you up for failure, and then the courts make you pay the car off anyway after the repo. So the fix is in, they have all the bases covered, and guess who is the looser all the time. You and I. Capitalism at its best. We all should wake up and be out there raising hell. This Sh t will never stop unless we stop it. Banking Regulations were in place for a reason. You couldn't get credit unless you could afford it. It was based on what you really made, then you could only get credit base on a percentage of what you made. There were less trouble then. But that is all for not if we don't have good paying steady jobs for all. If corp's always did the right things then we wouldn't need unions. If banks always did the right things we wouldn't need Regulations. But we all know that Greed is what rules. People like Mitt things they should be given everything with out working for it. They think its alright to steel instead of work for their money. So what is he going to do as President? He will totally destroy the working people and make us all slaves again. That is what Capitalism is all about. That is what the Rep's are all about.

You guys are all retarded. Bash both sides if you must but no president is going to get us out of this rut that was started by no one in general. Our country has turned to apathy. The rich get richer because they work, and work and work. The poor get poorer because they want to live off the government. If everyone just worked together to a final solution we could get out of this and unify. It's the democrats fault because they want to feed and cloth everyone, and it's the republicans fault for wanting to get ahead. Either way we can't win when all you do is talk crap about each side. None of you are smart enough to come up with a solution, but you are smart enough to say why the other side is wrong.....btw, non of your arguments are original....they are the same ones that have been going on forever. You are not special.

I like Clint Eastwood. I'll still watch his films. But really, what the HELL was that all about last night? I mean, what was he thinking?!

Sure, it was unscripted. But that ten minute speech could have been reduced to five minutes if every other word out of his mouth wasn't "uh," "um," or "you know."

Stick to the scripts, Mr. Eastwood. They've treated you well over the years. Don't stray now.

And you think you're going to get that from Romney? I love how you Repubs are dying to fall in line behind the candidate that offers zero details (and didn't last night either) on how he plans to do anything, lies about his opponent, wants to go into more wars and keep troops in Afganistan, hid money from the country he now wants to lead, limit women's rights, on and on! Obama's biggest mistake was that he thought the way business is done in Washington could be changed, but all he got was unwillingness from the other side of the isle to compromise. Funny how Congress doesn't take any responsibility for their unwillingness to help this country move forward, but instead puts all the blame on the President.

I believe Eastwood's faltering statements with ummm, ahh, errr,,, etc, was a parody on, Obama without a teleprompter.

In that regard, it was funny. That Eastwood's humor went right over the heads of the RNC, who still haven't recognized that they were the brunt of the jokes was priceless too. Using a character of delusion to a delusional crowd made it all that much more amusing.

                                  I'm just saying!

I haven't agreed with everything Obama has done either, but everything has improved since Bush-wack started the most expensive war in history! We needed to be saved BEFORE Bush took office, but we're in it now. And things have improved. Yes, it hasnt' been as quickly as I would have liked, and certainly made it wasy for the sheeple to jump on a bandwagon, but it's still better than it was 4 years ago! Romney hasn't laid out a single, tangible, valid plan that would actually cut any costs for anyone but him and his croneys.

Those people most likely got rich off of huge Government contracts. No wonder why they love Repubs. ideas of more breaks and more wars. They get always richer from those. Second, Stupid, uninformed morons, those types that listen to Lush Limbaugh.... A lot of them are most likely on some kind of hand outs from the Government either through subsidies or welfare checks, deep south type of folks.

So there you go... you cannot talk to the first group...they will always vote where their interests are. Talking to the second group is just pointless. They are just too stupid and brainwashed to understand. Millionaires like Lush Limbaugh make sure they stay that way for a long time.

So, N0.7, will your head explode when Romney loses?

Romney already is having to run on his history as a sociopath.
He start his life as a privileged high school thug mugging a kid that offended him, moved on to playing state cop with daddy's help, pulling over frightened people, the dog incident, then ended by creating a business killing careers and jobs.

He needs to run away from everything he has "accomplished" 'cause he spent more effort hiding income than actually accomplishing anything. Hey, he's entitled to a title like the royalty he believes he represents. if things go to crap he can climb on a yacht and leave for one of the islands where his money lives.

The Ayn Rand acolyte, Paul Ryan, the GOP was a wonderful choice. He follows a philosophy that believes christianity is ludicrous for its altruism. His economics promote predatory, unregulated, unrestrained commerce that creates a wealthy class -- the poor simply need to serve the wealthy or die.

Romney wants to represent the 1% and ensure they own all the assets in an America that operates like the game Monopoly. Ryan hates the poor, the young, the sick, the elderly. His mom better watch out -- cause she will go over the cliff when things get to expensive.

You want to know how America ends? Vote for these madmen. PEOPLE RUN AWAY FROM TAXES SO THEY CAN HAND OVER EVERY PENNY THEY MAKE TO GREEDY, UNREGULATED, BILLIONAIRE CAPITALISTS. LUNACY.

Did your gramma remind you of that when you talked to here last night? We would have been a lot better off if the chair had been empty the last 3-1/2 years. Comedy about Obama and anybody else in politics has appraered on late night shows, television and all other types of media..perhaps the most derogative comes from Bill Mahr's continual attacks on Romney and other Republicans..Obama refused to condemn Mahers statements and gladly took his $1 million dollar contribution! If the Democrats can dish it out, apparently can't take it! What's good for the goose is good for the gander! Get a life!

Clint Eastwood is the perfect icon for the Republican party......an angry old white guy muttering to himself, apparently suffering from sundown syndrome.

Here's what one honest Republican had to say in response:

“The demographics race we’re losing badly,” said Republican Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.). “We’re not generating enough angry white guys to stay in business for the long term.”

I get that there are bigots, racists, skinheads there always will be but if you want your party to get into the white house, making statements like that is not the right path; and what Akin said, who lets these people out from under their rock? All the other speeches are scripted why not their's?

On another note, as the camera kept panning to the audience one thing dawned on me; Is this the whitest ever RNC convention, or what??? I think I might have briefly spotted one person that wasn't caucasian in the audience. Perhaps just someone who likes to tan a lot. Then the incident of a couple of days ago where the African American camerawoman was accosted and abused, and called an animal came to mind. Need I say more?

A little history here for context, lets remember that Clint was the multimillionaire (maybe billionaire, not sure) that petitioned against the American with Disabilities Act because he thought it would be too much of a financial burden to make his posh Carmel, California hotel wheelchair accessible! So, a military vet with a wheelchair is not welcome at his establishment. This is his politics, so no surprise that he came out in favor of Mitt.

But, thanks Clint for reinforcing the fact that most repubs are un poco loco en la cabeza.

                                              Azlandowner,

First, HW Bush went into Iraq, after Iraq invaded and occupied Kuwait, with a solid allied bloc, including Arab troops. Second, HW Bush had a clearly defined goal, free Kuwait and render Iraq incapable of aggression for at least 10 years. Third, HW Bush followed a clear military strategy of over-whelming force, and placing Arab troops into sensitive areas as opposed to American or British troops. And finally, HW Bush realized that he could not overthrow Saddam Hussein without leaving Iraq a hot-bed of insurgency and terrorism.

HW's son, GW Bush picked a fight. It was fairly clear that while Saddam represented a threat to his neighbors, that threat was as much ponted at Iran as anywhere else. But rather than attack Afghanistan with overwhelming force to rout the Taliban, known supporters of Al Queda - the 9/11 terrorists, GW Bush chose to invade Iraq, topple it government and install a puppet, who hadn't been thoroughly vetted. And invade Afghanistan, with less than overwhelming force and a distracted leadership concentrating on Iraq. Clint Eastwood asked this question of Obama, but he should have asked the President who sent those troops to war 6 years earlier, GW Bush. So, after spending 7 years of war and occupation in Iraq under GW Bush, President Obama was forced to basically fight a rear gaurd action for two years just to get out of a mess.

Obama did boost troop levels in Afghanistan. His military actions have gone after Al Queda and radical Taliban elements. But unlike GW Bush, Obama seems to recognise that politically and sociologically, the Taliban will remain in Afghanistan. Just like the Bathists, the Kurds, the Shiaites, and the Sunnis remain in Iraq, along with freshly transplanted element of the radical Taliban and Al Queda.

As one who HAS dealt with the ADA, the regulations may seem extreme, but they are there for a reason. And compliance is more an act of will than expense. Brother of a man who spent the last 14years of his life as a quadriplegic.

I thought it was awesome - said things about Obama that we all wish we could sit down and talk about. It was funny - real - and lets face it - a new way to get the facts on the failure of Obama to lead.

Of course you thought it was funny. Who else but a teapublican would think it hysterical watching an incoherent old man look like he had no clue where he was. Just your speed huh?

I was always a Clint Eastwood fan until I heard his speech at the RNC. The only words that come to mind are disrespectful, racist, and distorted. It's a shame that dementia has shown its ugly face on poor Mr. Eastwoood. After all, it must be dementia because obviously he has forgotten who got us into this mess. It was our former president of 8 years. The USA was in dire straits, only the Great Depression of 1929 was a more trying economic time. The country has progressed considerably under Mr. Obama's Presidency. The war in Iraq is winding down. The number of American lives lost is considerably less with the use of drones. The stock market has made a huge comeback and many businesses are thriving. Osama Bin Laden is no longer a threat and terrorism has diminished. President Obama is thinking of the poor and middle class when he proposes that the rich pay their fair share of taxes even though he will have to pay more. He has championed education, health care, women's rights despite the constant opposition in a Republican controlled CIngres. Yes Mr. Eastwood, you might have been funny to the uninformed but there are people who know the truth. Hopefully they will all come out to vote and let President Obama finish the job he started and help bring America back to its true glory.

                                                    Steve and Shellie,

I actually thought that Clint was very effective in style and content. While I disagree that Romney/Ryan would do a better job and Clint's appropriation of our ongoing war was misplaced, The only real issue I had was when he started talking about OWNERSHIP of our country. While I thought that ALL CITIZENS owned the United States of America, in common "for the common good" (quoted from the US Constitution's Preamble). Clint address was targeted to the 1% and 2% (the truly wealthy, and the party faithfulhoping party allegience will give them a leg up on being truly wealthy). And he was implying (as a member of the 1%) that the true ownership of the country belonged to that splinter, and our politicians, including Mitt Roney and Paul Ryan works for that 1%. The truth clouded in a bit of sophistry.
