Clint Eastwood on his way to a nursing home, tried playing "NO FOOL, LIKE AN OLD 82 YEAR OLD FOOL" at the Republican convention.

While everyone stills respect Mr. Clinton Eastwood for his brilliance as an actor and movie director, it is sad that at his age (82), and apparent dementia, he is now being used as a political stunt by the Republicans party convention, and the wannabee- President, Grover (the pledge) Rinquist, and his puppets: Romney/Ryan/Boehner/Cheney/Condolizza/Bush 1&2. This stunt by the GOP RNC convention only proves again what little respect the Republicans agenda has for the aging people of this country. Also Mr. Eastwood does not speak for the other 99% of the retired and aging American people on Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid.

Mr.Eastwood's demented ramblings only support the 1% to 2% of the super wealthy Americans like himself (with over 375 million $$$ in wealth) Mr. Eastwood's age factor (82), and his greed and fear for his wealth, is also destroying his sense of fair play, judgement, humility and care for his fellow Americans like he displayed in the past, and his historical name and professional accomplishments are now being robbed and misused by the fake Republican party of use to be, and wannabee President and political leaders: Like wannabee President, Grover (the pledge) Rinquist, and his puppets: Romney/Ryan/Boehner/Cheney/Condolizza/Bush 1&2.

""YOU BUNCH OF DUMB ASS PILGRIMS""WAR FIGHTER OUT"" HOOAHhhhhhhHHHHHH"""""""""

Ironic. The Republicans have refused a dialogue with our president for almost 4 years (other than 'No'). Now they want to have a dialogue with a chair?

Brings back memories of Reagan Alzheimer. He said he didn't remember and sure enough he didn't.

I fail to see what all the bother is about. Reporters have been speaking to Barry, the empty suit, for more than 4 years now. The whole bit was funnier than listening to Barry and Joe telling what a great job they have been doing and having the brown nose lame stream media repeating everything they say.

        Bob,

I do not know anyone named Barry. But our current President (yeah you may not want to acknowledge Obama is the President) has repeatedly said more needs to be done. He has repeatedly asked the do nothing Congress to do more (which repeatedly got ignored). Oh yeah, almost forgot, the do nothing Congress did manage to do something.... they managed to name a few post offices. Great work. When things need to be done to help the economy, Congress passes laws restricting women's rights and voting down law to require equal pay for equal work.. Great Job. Republicans work hard at doing nothing. Now we are supposed to forget what happened under the last Republican President (not mentioning any names) and elect another. (like thats gonna happen)

          #429.1 - Sat Sep 1, 2012 3:39 PM EDT

need a job (and will continue to if Barry stays in office)- Barry is the name that Obama used in school before he re-invented himself back to Barak. When he was awarding the MOH to a Soldier last year, HE told the father, a "fellow" Hawaiian, to tell a friend that "Barry say Mahala".

If you folks wish to make up stupid little names for Republicans, or wish to call Romney "Willard" (his given name, but he goes by Mitt) then pull up you big boy panties and deal with it when other use the name old Barry gave to himself.

            #429.2 - Sat Sep 1, 2012 6:10 PM EDT

Oh, and Job, he also said that if he could not fix the economy in 3 years, he should be a one term President. Just trying to make him keep his word.

Repeating the mantra of the White House press office and the "Do Nothing Congress" is laughable. Obama had complete control, a veto proof majority in both houses for almost 2 years until Kennedy took his dirt nap, yet he went for the feel good, ultra liberal stuff rather than worry about the economy. His "Shovel ready jobs weren't as shovel ready as we thought heh, heh." He went for the payback to his political masters rather than helping ALL Americans. Now he wants more time?

The truest definition of insanity is doing the same thing, then same way and expecting different results. He tried it his way and has failed miserably. Now we need to try it a different way. Allowing him to do the same thing again would be insane. If Obama was willing to compromise, then maybe he should be given a second chance. However, he has shone again and again he is NOT willing to compromise, just blame others for his stubborn, incompetent behavior.

He's been in office for almost 4 years. Now is the time to blame him rather than blame all others. You folks started blaming Bush for everything that happened in January 2001. If he can't stand the heat, the kitchen doors work both ways. (to paraphrase a great Democratic President)

              #429.3 - Sat Sep 1, 2012 7:20 PM EDT

Conservatives, Mitt Romney may very well be elected as our next President. If he is, should democrats treat him the same way Republicans have treated President Obama?

                #429.4 - Sat Sep 1, 2012 11:34 PM EDT

Why not, that's the way the Dems treated GW Bush (and still do), GHW Bush, Reagan, etc. You folks are the most thinned skinned people on the planet. You accuse Romney of being a felon, causing the death of a woman, being a tax cheat, and all the rest, WITH NO PROOF! When asked for it, you say "some one told me this" You Lie with the best of them, get caught, and blame it on the person you lied about. You folks are pathetic. WHy not bring out the race thing next?

Of coarse Clint Eastwood is backing Romney....HE"S RICH!!! Good ole Mitt's policies would benefit him. Most of you others are not rich, just stupid, racist or both. Mitt Romney does not care about you....AT ALL!! You and Clint Eastwood are not alike...AT ALL!! How is that so hard for people to see? I feel like I'm living in some sort of alternate reality. On top of it this guy is a Mormon, you people do realize these are the crazies that knock on your door and harass you about weird @!$%# don't you? Hopefully one day we can have religious police like places like Saudi Arabia, then we can behead people and play soccer on the same field all in the same day...YAY!!!

What a hate filled, uninformed bigot you are. Jump right to race, the last desperate argument of the ill informed. Then you go off on an anti-Mormon rant. You are the type of hate filled individual who are pulling this country apart. Your desire to separate people along class lines is the same thing that Barry and Biden are doing, and yet you decry any who argue with them. How sad for you.

You announce, like no one ever knew, that Clint Eastwood was richand that is your basis for his backing Romney. Then explain the Millionaires and Billionaires who flock to Obama. Are they not rich? Your argument that Eastwood is not like me is about the ONLY correct thing you said. Clooney, Parker, and the rest are not like you either. Does this mean that you are "just stupid, racist or both" (your words, not mine) for supporting the same candidate they do?

And I think I can answer your question for many that, yes, you do live in an alternate reality.

It was heart breaking to watch the rambling of an old man who is clearly losing it. The bad language used as children attended and only weird attacks on the President. Mitt was up staged and really no one remembers his speech. Paul Ryan laughed as he attacked Obama for the pass 3 years that Congress has done nothing but stall any jobs/recovery. It was funny to hear cheers as it seems the supporters had no idea Congressman Ryan took credit for the bills in 2001-2008 that brought the recession and blocked any bills Obama asked to help with jobs. Ryan knows his supporters believe what their told even when he openly lies. Janesville Wisconsin GM Plant closed in 2008 as Bush said to bad and Ryan asked for help. But Ryan lied and said it was Obama who had the plant closed in 2008. Well Paul knew people were so stupid they wouldn't remember Obama took office in Jan. 2009. But the voters of Janesville weren't pleased with the lie and now know Romney/Ryan will lie for your vote.

I am not tied to any party. But, I thought it was pathetic to see Clint Eastwood up there, sounded like drunken uncle Dirty Harry. Then Ryan gets up talking out his butt when in fact he is one of the do nothing congress, a lifer at that. Then Mitt gets up with no clue what its like to be working for a living in the middle class, he ought to try working some shift work in a manufacturing plant, he'd have blisters on his hands and feet in the first two hours. Time for a hard working middleclass to run for President, oh, thats right, its all about the rich.

Clint Eastwood is an actor and a darn good one.... but that's it.

His speech is just that...a speech.

Anybody who'd allow just a speech to influence their decision on something as important as picking a guy who can potentially lead us into the next world war, doesn't deserve a vote. If you folk allow Clint's fame to detract from the issues which affect us all, then you deserve everything you get. It's that simple.

Romney has not detailed one single thing he plans to do to help this country...not one. His only plan at this point is to repeal the healthcare plan. He has nothing to put in it's place. He has no plan to improve upon it. He just wants to scrap it simply because it was proposed by the opposing party.

We then get to continue the 'old' system, wherein insurance companies do as they please and charge as they like. While that may be good for many of the polititians...some of whom own stocks in the very insurance companies they don't want to regulate. It won't be good for the rest of us. Same goes for the 'stupid' swing at the President on Putin.

Are we really that arrogant to think that we can talk this 'foolish', while putting other nations on alert with hostile rhetoric? It's a very dangerous game, making statements like that against Cuba and Russia. Just because he thought about it, doesn't mean it should come pass his lips.

Talking war against the Irianians is just asinine as well. While I in no way defend Iran, we'd better understand our limits and what we can and cannot do. Iran is much, much tougher than Iraq or Afghanistan. It's also a political "power keg". We also neither have the money or resources for that...not now anyway.

On second thought, they'll probably start a war (since some congressmen are heavily invested in defense stocks)...then they'll bill the government "outrageous" sums and profit 'handsomely'...at our expense. Either way...we lose.

Throughout American politics, a rare few men and women have been able to discuss partisan differences without nastiness. Clint Eastwood will go down in political history as having accomplished the exact opposite: all nastiness and no real discussion of differences. He has made some wonderful films, and I'll always enjoy them -- but, sadly, I'll also always remember him as a very confused, cranky old man launching an unnecessarily vitriolic tirade against a young black man. Clint Eastwood, your retirement began on 8/31/12: Goodbye, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Good grief, Eastwood wasn't a Democratic plant?

                            Seriously?

                            Dudes?

I'd have thought good money was paid for him to out the one percenters like he did. Imagine, the photo op of a lifetime, nearly all the 1 percenters from the entire nation and all of them standing up and cheering in unison, WE OWN THIS COUNTRY

I guess Eastwood gave it away with that crude mess of go e ff yerself/ I can't do that to myself--go e ff yerself jokes That was innapropriate.

That crudeness, that nastiness, fits in with the other atrocities of this convention.

Who would have imagined it possible that a CNN camerawoman would have been attacked at the GOP convention? Who would have thought it possible that a woman would be assaulted and taunted that she was an animal because she was black?

Who would have thought that one of the candidates would actually give an entire speech filled with bodacious lies?

Who would have thought that Ron Paul and his many supporters would have been treated so poorly such that they walked out en mass. Say what you will about Ron Paul, but he's been a loyal Republican for a long time and he's got all the integrity that Romney and Ryan lack.

This convention was unreal. It's actors and actresses all from another reality. If this country should face the ulimate misfortune then we may all live in their different reality. a future where truth is lies, fair is dark, justice is revenge. All hope is lost, the Republican Party has assumed control.

                            Please, don't feed these animals.

But barely mention Mitt , could it be that they knew nothing good to say about him . And than that poor old man talking to a chair I felt so sorry for Clint that he has reach this stage I believe that half the speakers did'nt even know who Mitt Rommey. It was not funny but very very sad.

I didn't watch the convention, or hear any of the speeches. That being said, all the talking heads are talking about Clint Eastwood's empty chair bit, and nobody is talking about Mitt Romney's speech. Is that the way it is supposed to be?

                                Reply#439 - Sat Sep 1, 2012 11:24 PM EDT

I watched Eastwood's speech live. I loved it! The only problem with it was that he over estimated the intelligence of the politicians and society to understand it. In his Eastwood way he told every one where "the bear @!$%#" in the woods, and people didn't get it. If one is in the woods and doesn't see the signs of the bear, there is a chance you may not make it out of the woods.

Mitt Romney won't be over shadowed by the speech, if he takes it and runs with it. Be upfront, honest and tell it how it is. We really can take it. Politicians need to quit treating us like mindless idiots while they make a living off from us. They need to tell us what they think their job is, how they are going to achieve it and actually do the follow through. If they are not able to do their jobs they need to join the unemployed and under employed like a third of our citizens.

The Great Old US of A is in trouble for the foreseeable future. After the Republicans and the Tea Party were so determined to boot Barack Obama out of office this past three years, the Democrats will do the same to Mitt if he is elected or the Republicans will go after Obama with more venom in his second term if the current POTUS is reelected, to ensure they take over in 2017.

There is really no way for this Country to mend fences between the two political parties because of a lack of real leadership on both sides. Mitt Romney for what i have watched so far is a man who will say anything or change his mind as quickly as he takes in oxygen to please the people around him.

President Obama did not work well with Republicans in Congress and was not strong enough to coopt the Democrat in Congress to get the Country unemplyment under control.

Mitt Romney is sending signal to Netanyahu that Israel will be free to bomb Iran when he is in power, tacitly giving Netanyahu the power to decide whether the US is involved in another War or not.

President Obama was not bold enough at the beginning of his Presidency to merit being reelected. The depth of the recession in the US merited that the stimulus should have been much much larger that the mini stimulus. If you want to stimulate the economy the size of the US you do it with overwhelming financial stimulus..similar to the Powel Doctrine in the use of military force or you do not do it at all. The stimulus was too small so though it helps a little bit, not enough to erase the tsunami that erupted after the 2008 bank and real estate collapse. If unemployment were not this high, the budget deficit would not be such a big problem. We all know that the Democrats do not care about the deficit when a Democrat is in power and the Republicans believe that the Deficit does not matter when a Republican is in power.

in the meantime the Country is speeding towards a moral, economic cliff. The military is the only strong pillar of the Country.. but then so is the military in Pakistan

Eastwood is in the beginning stages of senilism.

It is time he retire and start doing some actual good with all of his millions the public has given him.

He should get more involved with conservancy organizations and agencies such as the WWF, the Nature Conservancy and Saving the planet just for a start.

He could actually do some good there.
