NH woman arrested 4 times in 26 hours for loud music, assault

Epping Police Department via AP

This series of booking photos shows Joyce Coffey after being arrested four times in 26 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Joyce Coffey of Epping, N.H., just didn't seem to get it -- or care -- when she was arrested four times in 26 hours earlier this week. The police run-ins stemmed from loud AC/DC and Guns N' Roses music police said could be heard blasting from her house as well as Coffey allegedly throwing a frying pan at her nephew.

Epping police said they first visited Coffey's home on Tuesday at 3 p.m. local time, when they warned her to turn down the music, WMUR-TV in New Hampshire reported. They returned an hour later, found the music was still playing, and arrested her.

Coffey, 53, was released on $500 personal recognizance bail, the Manchester Union Leader reported, but police returned to her home about five hours later -- again because of a report about loud music.

She was arrested a second time around 9:20 p.m.

Coffey was then released on $1,000 bail, but a mere four hours later, after yet another loud music complaint, the police returned at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday.

She was at this point arrested for a third time -- and released a short time later on $10,000 bail.

Police said they heard AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" as well as music by the group Guns N' Roses coming from Coffey's home during their first four visits, reported WMUR.

The final call to Coffey's home was for a report of a domestic disturbance. Police said Coffey's nephew alleged she threw a frying pan at him, hitting him in the head, when he tried to get some of his belongings from her house.

She was arrested a fourth, and on Thursday a judge ordered her to undergo a mental health evaluation.

If she completes the evaluation, the judge said, she will be released to home confinement with electronic monitoring.

The judge also suggested that Coffey, who is due back in court on Oct. 15, use headphones to listen to music, WMUR reported.

There is no point in ordering a mental health evaluation for this woman. It's obvious from her musical tastes that she has no semblance of a mind left to evaluate. There are some old adages with regard to self being, for example, you are what you eat, you are what you read, etc. She is what she listens to: an idiot. No I will not apologize for calling "Guns and Roses" unworthy of being called music or artistic in nature. "Waaa Waaa Waaa Waaa," an example of Axel Rose' vocals and lyrics. I rest my case. I guess there ain't much to do in NH until the leaves turn!

I see. Since you don't like something, it's unworthy of being in existence, and therefor, the person is an idiot, correct?

I prefer Metallica and Megadeath. I'll put up my academic and professional achievements up against yours any day of the week.

The base line will be be two college degrees and we will move on from there. Care to compare?

Your life must suck to hate people over their tastes in music. What a shallow person you must be.

I bet this wasn't the first time she had been in trouble with the law. It is a case of alcohol, drugs, or inbreeding.

who's posting her bail? She, no doubt has mental problems, but she's also a drunk (duh). After the second time, they should have just kept her in jail, they would have saved time and money using police time going to the same location for the same complaint over and over! Obvioiusly, there is no common sense to the law.

Arrest number 1 should have had her in jail for 24hrs. There would not have been three more arrests or a waste of the police and their resources to keep going back.

This woman was arrested 4 times for playing goth-type "music", and looking ugly! That longhaired guitar screeching, with the crummy "singing" ain't really music. Instead, it sounds like Sarah Palin-twit talking.

She shoulda played some good classic soul and R 'n B.

So you consider AC/DC goth type music?

It's good old fashioned rock and roll.

Find me another band that has spanned as many decades as them while still consistently placing high in the charts when they release a new album.

What makes AC/DC just as popular today, as they were 30+ years ago, is that they never tried to evolve with the times. They stuck to what they did best. Simple riffs and loud music. Uncut raw music that didn't tailor itself to sell the most albums.

In four more years, they will celebrate playing 40 years of rock and roll.

Since you bashed that band, tell me, what's your kind of music, and how long have they been prevalent in the music charts and the music industry?

35 years after they started, AC/DC is still earning over 100 million a year. Not too shabby for something that's "not real music", eh?

Possibly from the look at the photos, this woman may have lupus. However, I realize that has nothing to do with playing loud music. It's possible there may be medical and mental health issues going on. Another evaluation she should get would be to get her hearing checked. If she has been playing her music loud for years, she may have already damaged her hearing and can only hear music if she plays it loudly. She may not realize how loud it truely is. As healthcare providers who have done physicals for several teens, we have seen so many teenagers that have already experienced hearing loss due to repeatedly listening to loud music. For hers and her neighbors sake, I hope this gets resloved soon.

Well one look at that ugly b!tch tells me that she's definitely on some mind-altering drug of some type. Her selection in "music" pretty much validates that as well. She is a little old to be listening to hard rock, but then again I guess there are those who do. Even more amazing are the rock "musicians" who still play that garbage. Many who are now in their mid to late 60's, and even early 70's.

Why are you referring to a woman with that nasty word?Have you no respect for women? That is never an acceptable word to use no matter who the female is.Those rock musicians are making heaps of money and doing what they love.I'm in my 60's and listen to hard rock music and anything that I please.Where does it say that that there is an age limit on what type of music a person can listen to and enjoy?

What nasty word? Is b!tch listed in the dictionary? As far a my respect for women is concered, it depends on the woman. In my definition there are Ladies and there are B!tches. Ladies know their place in the home and B!tches feel the need to prove that anything a man can do they can do better. That is what determines my definition. I'm sure your definition differs eons from mine, which is fine with me. Judging from your post I would probably put you definition-wise (mine) in the latter category.

sshoss1:: You and I must be looking at pictures of different things. I don't see a bitch. I see a human female. The term bitch refers to a female dog.

Yes, it is slang for a malicious or promiscuous woman-- but it is slang. And only uncouth males use that term in public about a woman.

The only thing a man can do better than a woman is father children.

I would define you as a -- no, I won't say it in public. I can't be arrested for what I'm thinking.

My one question is where did she get all this avaialble bond money? $10,000 is not small change. With being a repeat offender a bail bondsman probably saw he stood a great chance of getting a pretty good chunk of change in the direction she was headed over time.

She should see if she can break a record for the most times arrested for disturbing the peace. I'm sure some high dollar speaker company would give her a good chunk of change to be the mascot for one of their speaker commercials. They could show her rocking out and the cops coming and taking her away. Then getting home and cranking the volume up again and gettign arrested again. The getting arrested a third time in the same day. The announcers voice would come on saying "Bose Speakers..When you just can't turn it down.."
