In all seriousness, this is only an issue because he is in a military court. In a regular court, he could grow his hair however he wanted. While I have no respect for the guy, I really don't see why we should be wasting our time on his facial hair. The judge should just say, "you want to be an $%^&&*^#@$#, go ahead. When his final time comes, he should be given a pork Bar-be-que as a last meal and forced to consume it, or have it forced down his nasty throat. Why is it so difficult for everyone associated with this to understand that a person who murders 13 people while in uniform doesn't give a RatsAzz about the UCMJ. He was apprehended at the scene, with the weapon, over the bodies. He doesn't need to be clean-shaven to stick a needle in his arm. Actually the militray does give waivers for beards based on religious beliefs now. The Army gave a Rabbi a shaving waiver because of his religius beliefs not too long ago; within the last 3 to 4 years.

As far as I am concerned they could take the rest of his head along with the beard when they "shave" him. After all, this is what his Muslim brethren would do to an American service member. It would also save the expense of the trial and all the obligatory appeals. Unfortunately, in this country even a piece of @!$%# like Hassan is entitled to a fair trial. It would have been better if one of the officers that responded to his shooting rampage had just taken the kill shot right then and there, why they did not is beyond me. Now he will be given a platform to spout his rhetoric during the trial, although at least with military trials that put much greater limitations on things like that than they do in civilian courts. In a military court he will get shut down if he goes off on tangents not related to the charges he is facing. In civilian courts the judges seem to feel a need to let the accused have their say, even when it is not really relevant to the charges. I am gad to see the military courts upholding regulations and requiring him to meet military grooming requirements when he appears in court. I was afraid that political correctness would take hold and the military would end up bowing to his religious beliefs, even though he had willingly entered the military knowing he would have to stay clean shaven.
