My Heart goes out to all the people, that suffered as a result of the 911 tragedy ... and the responders certainly deserve treatment for any medical problems that resulted from the same.

Carolyn Maloney (D), sponsored The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010, which provided medical monitoring to those exposed to toxins at Ground Zero, bolstered treatment at specialized centers for those afflicted by toxins on 9/11 and reopened a compensation fund to provide economic loss to New Yorkers.

Financing: because Republicans pretend to care about the Deficit, Democrats made sure that every penny of the 9/11 Health and Compensation Act was paid for by closing a Tax Loophole on Foreign Corporations. But that just outraged House Republicans, because Tax Increases, even on Foreign Companies, even to benefit 9/11 First Responders, are always evil.

Any HONEST person also has to remember the huge controversy at the time about the REFUSAL of a large number of the 9/11 first responders and clean-up workers to wear the protective masks that were issued.

A safety professional who worked at Ground Zero said, "I was absolutely aghast at the refusal of the workers at ground zero to wear the personal protective equipment. All of my efforts to convince these guys to wear the masks was for naught."

The Federal and local authorities MANDATED that ANYONE that was around the site was required to wear a protective mask, but a large percentage REFUSED.

The article doesn't mention how 9/11 caused these cancers. Was it from inhaling asbestos when the buildings crumbled? I just have to wonder if these same people would have gotten cancer anyway without 9/11 happening. Also, as someone else mentioned, didn't they wear protective gear when helping with the cleanup? I realize the victims couldn't because they couldn't have known this was going to happen and it's likely their workplaces didn't have respiratory gear anyway. Emergency responders, though, shouldn't have gone on the scene unprepared.

I'm curious as to whenever a building is brought down in a controlled demolition, even older ones than WTC was, how come a large percentage of people involved with it don't get cancer or mysterious illnesses 10 years after the fact from the exposure to the dust and debris left over? My father has been stating this since the 90's when i got into construction. All the pulverized material that responders and victims were breathing in is now linked to illness and disease. What about the construction workers who built these buildings. They cut, grind, hammer, weld and basically eat this stuff on a daily basis. Look at the mortality rate for career construction workers. Building material is deadly and health insurers and government have been turning their backs to it since the beginning of time. Asbestos, lead, mercury. Too costly to add clean to construction and too expensive to cover for the health insurance companies.

God bless him my father was an electrician until the 70's and a paid firefighter till 2003 when he was forced to retire for health reasons. He suffered three heart attacks since sept 2001. He was at ground zero but doesn't blame that particular event. He'll tell you he's been dying a slow painful death since he started working for a living and insurance whatever the kind has been no help just expensive.

This situation has a similar parallel with those that served in Iraq and Afghanistan and were exposed to the military burn pits. High incidences of respiratory illness, leukemia and cancer amongst those exposed to the smoke of the burn pits. And for those of you who don't remember, these first responders weren't just there on 9/11/2001. They worked for MONTHS after that to try and get to, first, survivors and then later, to retrieve the dead so that the families could know for sure what happened to their loved ones.

Even though I applaud you for helping out at ground zero. You volunteered to do it. Nobody made you do it. You knew the risks going into it. You had the option of protective clothing, but, from what I've heard and read, a majority refused them. There would have been no way I'd gone in there dressed less than if I were going on a spacewalk.

You are right I did volunteer! I ---HAD TO---- it is in my nature, as I was raised to pay it forward. Masks weer not offered for days & they were paper! Whitman resigned long before respirators with filters and tyvac suits, plastic gloves, duct tape, etc... Within minutes all of this clothing was in shreads. Nothing but concrete shards, glass shards, steel, rebar, mangled and splintered office furniture --- trying to take apart a 16 story pile of debris with machines used to climb dirt - this WAS NOT DIRT - and filled with caves that collapsed daily - it was the biggest mess in US history!

I have received medical help for some stuff --- good help! It is the STUFF they WILL NOT COVER! STUFF that is NOT GENETIC in my family, stuff I am not predisposed to, stuff that fell out that I maintained to a tee ------IT IS AWFUL!

My cousin was there on 9/11 right after the towers fell. He stayed for months and months digging and helping every single day. When he went home to rest all thought about was getting back as soon as possible and was worried he missed something somewhere. He died three months ago to a rare blood cancer caused by the toxic gas and fumes he was exposed to working the pile. He needed a bone marrow transplant but because "not enough 9/11 related cases have been linked to causing cancer" he got no help. They wouldn't put him on the list. By the time we raised 10k to get him onto the transplant list, then found a match his illness got worse and worse. He still had nightmares about the things he saw that day and during the clean-up until the day he passed. He never forgot a single thing. I'm glad the government is finally going to help but they should have been on top of this from day one. We shouldn't still lose people to 9/11 after eleven years. It's bittersweet news for my family.

Their insurance denied payment for the 9/11 illnesses. How about if they lied about the air at Ground Zero, then why wouldn't they lie about other aspects of 9/11.

How about the large number of "put options" that were laid down days before 9/11 on United and American Airlines stocks. Put options on that level have always been caused by inside information in the past.

How about the fact that a airplane with the worlds most experienced pilot couldn't have touched down on the Pentagon lawn that way.

I can agree that some people that question 9/11 can be over the top and have some wild conspiracies, but the bottom line is regarding 9/11 the federal government lied to the American people, they had previous knowledge of imminent attacks, there was never a proper or thorough investigation into 9/11, and the false "War On Terror" has done nothing to stop terrorism because all it is doing is causing terrorism itself.

There was no lying about the air around the 9/11 site. There WAS a bunch of EPA workers running around trying, IN VAIN, to get the workers to wear the protective masks provided.

The air around the site wasn't declared safe until much later and, even then, there was a designated buffer zone around the area in which protective equipment was REQUIRED.

Additionally, the government did not have "previous knowledge" of any attacks. That is a total fabrication. The government had some vague warnings that Al Qaeda wanted to attack inside the US, but there were no specific facts.

The CIA DID have some information about some Arab students that had overstayed their visas. Those students turned out to be the 9/11 hijackers. But, of course, the CIA cannot operate inside the United States.

Unfortunately, at the time, the CIA was also BARRED from SHARING any information with the FBI or any other law enforcement agency. The Clinton Justice Department, under Janet Reno, had ordered a "wall of separation" between the agencies because they thought that any potential prosecution of terrorists would be "tainted" by association with the CIA.

The author of that INSANITY is now Obama's Attorney General, ERIC HOLDER.

BTW, at the end of the Clinton Administration, that same Eric Holder worked tirelessly, against strong opposition in the DOJ, to obtain pardons for 16 members of the FALN terrorist organization and a group called Los Macheteros that had been convicted on numerous counts of bank robbery, possession of explosives, and participating in a seditious conspiracy.

Overall, the two groups had been linked by the FBI to more than 130 bombings, several armed robberies, six killings, and hundreds of injuries.

After Clinton left office, Holder was a senior partner in the law firm of Covington & Burling. That firm VOLUNTEERED to represent more than a dozen Yemeni terrorists held at GITMO.

Yes, I agree our federal government may have not known when and where these attacks were happening, but to say there was no or limited intelligence is nonsense. There were numerous attempts to fly airplanes into buildings, including the White House. There were numerous drills before 9/11 where planes were simulated or discussed as possible weapons. There was already an attempt by Al-Qaeda to blow up WTC in the 90's. What about the Bojinka Plot ?

And finally what about the insider trading or "put options" that were going crazy days before 9/11 on American and Delta ? Someone on Wall Street obviously knew something.

There are numerous other debatable points that I agree can be slightly or extremely flimsy, but the things I pointed out above are facts and undeniable that something was amiss for whatever reason.

I just want a proper and thorough investigation into all the facts and information surrounding that terrible day in our countries history, which is something the American people have never received.

Actually Nova did a special report on how and why this attack happened. It may not be the entire truth but they did interview people that were actually involved in intelligence operations at that time. From what they said it was mostly caused by agencies not sharing the information they had with other agencies. If they CIA had good intelligence that an attack was imminent, they could not share that with the NSA, DIA, or FBI. Also they could not take action because they only operate on foriegn soil, not in the US. It went beyond their mandate. Another interesting piece from that show was from an interview with a former FBI agent who was active back then. He stated that the FBI had their suspisions about those students due to the status of their Visas and where they traveled from. Since the CIA or NSA could not share data, the FBI could not make a strong enough case against them. This is why it is important for all agencies to work together like they do now.

Another documentary I watched was aimed at de-bunking 911 conspiracy theories. In this one they conducted some scientific experiments to try and prove that what the government and the conspiracy theorist stated was possible. It found that all the evidence pointed more toward the damage being caused by the airplanes impact. First they hung a piece of an I beam, identical to those in the Towers, over a tank filled with JP-8 aviation fuel in order to show that the gas could actally cause the steel to break. The test showed that it was possible for jet fuel to heat steel to over 2000 degrees which caused it to collapse. Second they tried to cut an I beam with Thermite, which is what conspiracy theorist use as solid proof that it was an inside job. They discovered that it would take over 100 lbs of thermite to make that cut. Finally they conducted an experiment on the hole found in the Pentagon by shooting a rocket at a structure simular to the Penagon. They discovered that it was possible that the hole was made by the plane crash.

Now I am fully aware that what I state here is not fact just some theories and opinions. To me it shows that their is still room for debate as to what really happened. Either one could be true because their is not enough evidence to prove either one. IMHO I think it was a terrorist attack and not influenced by our government. Well thats all for now. Why is it that you think it makes sense for the "media" to have done these types of 'investigations" instead of the proper authorities having done so? 9/11 was a mass murder of Americans on American soil. The notion that the CIA couldn't let the FBI liason officer at Alec station tell the FBI what he knew about Al Qaida being in the USA is ridiculous. "The Wall" excuse is a fabrication which needs to be investigated by a body with subpoena power and the security clearances which allow them to arrive at the real TRUTH. IMHO you are either a "sheeple" or a con-man. JP-8 fuel doesn't burn at 2000 degrees, unless it is being fed oxygen in a blast furnace methodology. The Twin Towers were not a blast furnace.
