The University of Texas at Austin said students could return to buildings on its main campus at noon on Friday after evacuating due to bomb threats received in the morning. The school's website said that the remainder of Friday classes were canceled but other activities scheduled on the campus will resume at 5 p.m.
In addition to searching the campus, university President Bill Powers said at a news conference, "We are working very closely with city, state and federal authorities and there is a lot of information that comes from that. We are very confident that the campus is safe."
A second large college, North Dakota State University in Fargo, also was evacuated for a bomb threat, but reopened hours later.
NDSU students and employees were ordered to leave the campus by 10:15 a.m. after the school received the threat, ValleyNewsLive.com reported. Police reopened the school about 3 hours later and said classes would resume at 2 p.m.
It was unclear if there was any connection between the two bomb threats.
The University of Texas' evacuation was prompted by a call at around 8:35 a.m. from a male with a Middle Eastern accent claiming to have placed bombs all over campus, director of communications Rhonda Weldon told NBC affiliate KXAN.com. He claimed to be with al-Qaida and said bombs would go off in 90 minutes, the station reported.
Powers said that in assessing the threat with authorities, the global situation "was part of the evaluation."
The threats to campuses coincided with protests at U.S. diplomatic missions in several cities in Muslim-majority countries after the circulation of an offensive anti-Islam video produced by an obscure American filmmaker.

Latest on North Dakota State University from BreakingNews.com
The University of Texas, one of the largest public universities in the U.S., has more than 50,000 students. NDSU has more than 14,000 students.
Meanwhile, Valparaiso University in Indiana alerted its students after receiving a vague threat through a graffiti message.
The school said the threat claimed "dangerous and criminal activity" would occur during the university's daily chapel break period Friday.
No evacuation was ordered, but the message urged students to be alert and report any suspicious activity on campus.
The FBI and local authorities searched the campus and found nothing suspicious, and a university police spokeswoman said classes and other activities would continue as planned, The Associated Press reported.

Al Qaida would not give a warning. There would no maximum impact with exercising humanity.
I was thinking the same thing. Al Qaida wants the US to suffer mass casualties. They would never give a warning.
However what if they are evacuating people just to feel safe to go back in after the allotted time, then detonate? My sick mind at work...
That wouldn't work, Matt. Bombs are too easy to detect with dogs and robots. It still wouldn't be their M.O.
how do you spell l o n g w e e k e n d students this was not funny
What a mess!
They'll catch the person that made the call. They always do.
They'll narrow the call down to a certain area of town, get the exact time frame of the call, then look at all the local surveillance cameras in the area, get a still pic of the perp, post it on TV & Papers/Internet and BAM! We got 'em.
Case closed. It'll turn out to be some dumb kid that didn't study for an exam and needed the weekend to study.
Have a nice weekend...
Thanks Columbo!
If they got the warning at 8:35 and were told bombs would go off in about 90 minutes, why did they wait more than 90 minutes to post a warning on the website?
You do not need a bomb to spread fear that is why they call it terror. In the US a warning is enough to prompt closure and disruption.
It is possible that it wasn't the terrorists that called but someone who heard of the plot and not part of it. That being said, probably a hoax.
Freedom..Creek Dog is right...you have to be an idiot to even do @!$%# like that anymore...too easy to get caught.
It's gettin' scarier and scarier to go to college anymore! HA! Forget tuition costs, you just might get blown up! I live in a town of 170,000, we have a local college that has been put on lockdown three times! You wouldn't get me attending that place now, gangs have infested our town over the last 25 years. It's sad.
People sure need to get a life!!!
Jeepgal66,
Sounds like it may be time to get outta there man. I live in a town of about 500. No through streets for morning rush hour to rip through. All 25mph and I live along the woods side. Relaxing actually. The only downfall of a small town is, the neighbors know everything that's going on.
We have some old neighbors that are nosey as hell and want to know "everything" that's going on so my buddy neighbor and I mess with them after a few 12 oz curls. We do @!$%# that makes their jaws drop and wait to hear what comes back through the grape vine. Heh heh heh... We have a blast. Good luck babe ;-)
Freedom,
Why........ thank you very much! Sorry I let the cat out of the bag and now you have to find another way to get more time to study. LOL
Have a nice weekend to all...
TxGCB Alqaida will not give warning.Yes and the puppet masters behind the Easter Bunny/Alqaida perpetrating this won't either.
Get the Hint!
The questions remain:
* Why weren't our Middle East embassies better protected on 9/11?
* What did the State Department know in advance of the attacks?
* What did the President know in advance of the attacks?
Will the media do their job and get to the bottom of these questions, or will they keep blaming Mitt Romney and some online video that NOBODY HAS SEEN?!!
"The threats to campuses coincided with protests at U.S. diplomatic missions in several cities in Muslim-majority countries after the circulation of an offensive anti-Islam video produced by an obscure American filmmaker."
While technically correct, this comment leads the reader to believe the video was the cause, when it has come to light that the attacks on the Cairo and Libya embassies were pre-planned actions, not spontaneous, and not caused by the video except as a pretext to conduct protests/riots already planned. Even though this new information has been published in many news outlets, MSNBC continues to act as if the video, and it's maker, are the parties responsible for the deaths. . .rather than the people who actually did the killing.
Damn - I wanted to be Columbo, I never get to be Columbo...you guys are racist toward clowns.
My old High School (Meadowdale, in Lynnwood, WA) got a bomb threat last year, I don't think they have found who did it yet - Columbo the Clown would have solved it.
News Update; Columbo the Clown has discovered that major terrorist networks didn't know North Dakota had colleges...Columbo the Clown could only find students went up as far as 3rd grade in ND...stay tuned for further updates.
Same thing going on at North Dakota State University now, all buildings to be evacuated due to bomb threat.
Jake,
Where'd you get that information?! The headline?!
Good observation... :-)
@Creekdog: I think a good way to get away with it would be to buy a prepaid phone with cash and make the call in some wooded area in the middle of nowhere. That's what I would do atleast.
There would be no warning from Al Qaida. That would indicate that they were exercising some form of humanity. NOT!
TxGCB, we saw your message the first time.
TxGCB, we saw your message the first time
These are the detractors in modern low grade conflict. The not inflict damage but inflict a cost. Osama cost lots of lives but he did much greater harm by disrupting our daily lives and our economy.
This is the future where have nots and powerless will fight asymmetric conflicts.
I pray this is just a prank and no one gets injured. My question is, why did it take until 9:53 to post on their website when the call was received at 8:35? One hour and 18 minutes to put the word out to evacuate? And told 1 hour 30 minutes till the bombs were to go off...that gave 12 minutes for people to get the word and evacuate.
Again, hopefully it is a prank and no true danger comes of this.
Well it seems bomb did not go off. So all is for none.
TSD. I'm sure they informed students and faculty by other methods other than a freaking website. Was probably posted on Facebook, emailed and twittered. lol
It still hurts those there and cost money. Osama was way more sucessful than just the 3K plus deaths to this country.
It's just one of those nice and peaceful islamist acting a little silly.
your use of the word "islamist" shows how little you know about the culture you're blaming.
I am tired of our country allowing more and more Muslims to immigrate here. I know they all aren't terrorist, but show me a terrorist who isn't a Muslim. Look at how the Muslims in Europe riot and wreak havoc in England. I hope we don't become another country held hostage by terrorists, in our attempt to be politically correct and accepting of all. If a group poses a threat, I think we need to draw the line. I don't understand why our government endangers the entire population to appease a few.
your own government does a pretty good job of terrorizing with out being muslim, you need to do more research before you start generalizing
Agreed.
Wouldn't that be the epitome of hypocricy? We stop allowing EVERYONE in because a couple MIGHT be terrorists? That kind of isolationist theory is just what they want. The other side of that coin is that we corner ourselves in this country and never go anywhere else. It becomes a vicious circle. It just turns us even more into racists and haters. Where does it stop?
Terrorist who isn't Muslim? Timothy McVeigh. It is just as likely to be the prank of an anti-Islamist as anything else, because yes, even rednecks know how to imitate a "middle eastern" accent.
Show me a terrorist who isn't Muslim? Gee, how about the guy who murdered Sikhs a few weeks ago? I remember the day of the Oklahoma City bombing. Everyone on the news is going on about Islamic terrorists. I'm thinking Ok City? Fertilizer? Diesel? (what my dad used to blow up tree stumps when he cleared land, to extend the dynamite)--sounds like a farmboy to me.
Not to mention Muslims, including converts, who were born American citizens. The first mosque built in the US?--early 1900's, in western North Dakota, by Syrian immigrants.
Ac3jc: Our government's president IS muslim!
Ignorant. You know that? There is more to Terrorism than a Muslim religion. What about the Oklahoma bombing? So damn stupid. Think that Terrorists is equal to Muslim. It's not Muslim you moron. It's called a Jihad. It is an extreme branch off of Muslim religion. A true Muslim does not recognize them as a faithful following. It's like saying a Sadist is Christian. You should do research before you call something out. You have no damn idea of what you are talking about. Oh, and before you scream that I am Muslim, I'm a Caucasian Mormon, American bred, raised, with strong Military family. Educate yourself. Please.
According to dictionary.com:
terrorist: a person who terrorizes or frightens others.
Andrew Kehoe - Bath School disaster left 38 elementary school children, 2 teachers, 4 adults dead and at least 58 injured (1927)
Charles Whitmann - University of Texas massacre that left 13 people and and an unborn child dead and 32 others wounded (1966)
Seung-Hui Cho - Virginia Tech massacre left 32 dead and 17 wounded (2007)
James Holmes - "The Dark Night Rises" shooting (2012)
And these are just some of the big ones found using a general google search, and that only pertain to America. What about Koni in Uganda, who abducts children and forces them to kill their own friends and family? Or the killings in Rwanda? And going further back in history, the assassinations of Presidents Lincoln (carried out by John Booth) and Kennedy (Lee Oswald)? The truth is, terrorists come from all backgrounds and all religions. The media just focuses on Muslims because of its relationship with the middle east.
I know you said you don't think all Muslims are terrorists, but don't generalize and say all terrorists are Muslims.
And Gary-2545132, just because Obama has a middle-eastern last name and a Muslim father, that doesn't mean he is Muslim.
According to the Qur'an, all good Muslims have to be terrorists:
wikiislam.net/wiki/A_%28good%29_Muslim_has_to_be_a_terrorist
Well then the millions of Muslims that aren't terrorists must all be horrible at following their religion.
...Idiot.
Chocaholic26, add to your list:
Klebold/Harris - Killed 13, injured 21 at Columbine High School.
ELF - Earth Liberation Front has caused over $40 million in property damage over years.
KKK - killed dozens and destroyed property in rural America.
Wall Street bombing - 38 killed, 400 injured.
Ted Kaczynski - 3 killed, 23 injured
Centennial Olympic Park bombing - 2 killed, 111 injured
2001 Anthrax Attacks - 5 killed, 17 injured
Vs. how many Islamic terrorists acts committed on American soil?
(I would argue that things like the 1983 Beirut bombing that killed 241 US Marines was an overt act of war against the United States; that Reagan chose to ignore it is another matter. I would also apply the same standard to the al-Qaeda embassy bombings and the attack on the USS Cole under Clinton).
How about Timothy McVeigh??? He was no Muslim.
Islamic terrorists murder more people every day than the Ku Klux Klan has
in the last 50 years.
pulsar182;
Really? And you got your stats from where? Instead of being so general, since you obviously have this information, give us your figures.
How many have the Ku Klux Klan killed in fifty years_________________________?
How many do terrorists kill per day_______________________________________?
Thank you
Pulsar182- Really? Islamic terrorists murder more Americans on American soil every day than the KKK did in over 100 years? In fact, you can add the attacks in Spain and England and etc to that list and still be under the death-count for the KKK.
If Islamic people want to kill each other in the Mid-east over nuanced interpretations of the Koran, we should stay out of it; it's none of our business. The same is true of the Palestinian conflict in Israel- it is not appropriate for the US government to intervene.
Let's fix our own problems before we tell the rest of the world how to live.
I'll divide the answer into several sections
Reconstruction 1st Klan (1865-1877)
1500 estimated by the Tuskegee Institute
1200 blacks 300 whites
100-200 killed in South Carolina
150 Florida
The rest mostly killed during black voting in Louisiana in the 1868 US Presidential Election
The Klan was also partially involved in the Colfax Massacre
Nadir 2nd Klan ( 1915 - 1944)
416
Klan was frequently involved in lynchings, killed mostly blacks in this era
Murdered Blacks returning from WW1
Killed Leo Frank (Jewish White)
Killed 6 blacks attempting to vote in Orange County Florida
Civil Rights 3rd Klan (1954-1968)
15 people (13 black)
These murders are well known and include, but are not limited to
1963 murder Medgar Evers
1963 16th street baptist church bombing
1964 Mississippi Burning
1965 Viola Luizo Shooting
1966 Vernon Dahmer Killing
Many of these murders were prosecuted ... in the 90s and 2000s
David Duke 4th Klan
1979 Greensboro Massacre 5 killed
5th Klan
1981 Lynching Michael Donald
Klan member electrocuted
Total 1937
Note these are only those killed. Hundreds of thousands of people were injured or intimidated by the Klan
+ Although the Klan hadn't been formed, Nathan Bedford Forrest, leader of the first Klan committed this atrocity
Fort Pillow Massacre 1864 277 blacks

A full list of terrorist attacks by Non-Muslims. Isn't the better conclusion that instead of preemptively pointing fingers at one group, we should be focusing on figuring out how to better identify possible threats without using racial and religious identifiers to figure it out? I mean... clearly that's not working for us if we have let all of the above attacks slip through the cracks. How about actually responding to real concerns about individuals and the things they say/do instead of putting all of our energy towards blaming all Muslims? Doesn't it seem more efficient? I feel safer and trust concerns from actual Americans over the "lets just blame a Muslim" argument any day.
HMMM. THAT'S about 10 KKK murders in the last 50 years ..now for the month of September 2012 Muslim murders are as follows: 328 murders in 1 month alone...September 2012

Too early to tell, but maybe Al Qaida or radical Muslim sympathizers. Sounds like someone with good knowledge of US politics going after two locations in heavily right wing states.
Seems like there are some attempts going on to irritate radicals on both sides of the "Christian-Islam" divide. It seems that there are interests who very much desire to escalate a conflict. The thing is we don't really know just who is behind this stirring up of bad blood. We need to keep in perspective that on both sides, we are talking about extremists who are really just a small minority, trying on both sides to suck others into their cause.
Who you calling a heavily right wing state? I'm a liberal in this state, but even I wouldn't classify ND as heavily right wing. Maybe the state is more conservative than the majority of states, but I would hardly call it right wing, much less heavily right wing. Anybody that considers ND heavily right wing doesn't know anything about our state.
Love pointing out how many co-ops ND has, as well as a state-run mill and bank. How socialist of them :)
Someguy42,
If I hurt your feelings, I apologize but the record tends to support my statement although I will gladly say it doesn't apply to everyone. ND Executive and Legislative branches of government is very clearly in the hands of conservatives. Rick Berg, your sole House Representative is pretty far right. Hoeven is maybe more of a "moderate conservative" but his record is pretty much party line in recent times. Kent Conrad is pretty much being forced into retirement by the right wing challenges. He is a Democrat and probably one of the better Seantors, but he's Blue Dog at best as opposed to liberal. Dorgan pretty much got pushed out by the right too.
Been in ND a lot and have been to just about every state in the union. Granted, a lot has to do with the local region you are in. That said, I have my opinions based on my actual observations. Like a lot of states, ND has its variability. In the larger city type environments like Fargo for example and maybe more so Bismark, it's a pretty even split maybe even leaning a bit left, but as you go West in the state into more rural areas, the far right tends to dominate. Don't get me wrong, I love your state and wasn't trying to be critical. I have some good friends there. I made a generalization and I respect that you view it as unfair. Clearly, ND is no Texas, but overall compared to the rest of the country, it's pretty far right. I will say that most of the people I have dealt with there maybe tend to be a bit more libertarian than extreme right wing types that the Republican party has become. Definitely conservative. But again, I apologize if I offended you. Bottom line is there really aren't many people in ND so I'll admit it may be a bit of an unfair generality. I'll just say that in the more progressive states, ND is viewed, right or wrong, as being pretty heavily weighted toward the right.
ND got swept up in the same teaparty nonsense as the rest of the country. But, for years, they sent Democrats to DC while electing Republicans for the local jobs. But yes, most of those Dems were more Blue Dog that anything else, but also very good at getting federal money for back home.
Al-Qaida works for the US Government.
Obama and Biden said al-Qaida are our friends.
Paul Ryan wrote that story. You can't believe it.
Typical moron that believes everything he reads. "If it's on the internet, it must be true."
Jeffrey D Parks;
What planet did you just arrive from? What politician would even consider making such remarks!!!!!!!!!!!
"Duh, let me see now. What would be the best way to get elected? Oh, I know, I'll call al-Qaida our friends. Yeah, that's the ticket, our friends" !
Moron.
Protesters set fire to American school in Tunis.
The terrorists are winning.
I wish you were wrong but unfortunately I have to agree
there will never be world peace. Whether its Muslims or jack-hole kids who are depressed and dont get enough attention, there will always be casualties. Its a sad, sad world.
I am so frustrated with all this militant Islamist crap. Why is it that hordes of people are willing to kill hordes of other people just because the don't believe the same thing? Or because they talked bad about their "prophet"? I mean, come on! What is someone talking crap going to do to your very deceased and not-here-to-hear-it prophet? Nothing! If he is ascendant and transcendent, etc., he doesn't care what people say about him. That is very kindergarten-ish. I'm a Christian, and I don't care not one iota how someone else voices their opinion on how I believe. It does not change what and how I believe. You don't like Jesus? Sorry to hear that. Not my problem. There are how many millions of militant Islamists? How can that many people be that immature and stunted? It is simply astounding.
Muslims teach their children to hate and kill...Muslims begin the childs military training at about age 6....The childs Quran training is lifelong....Read the Quran and find out what they are being taught...
PULSAR182
You just can't help yourself, can you? Don't tell others to read the Koran, when you yourself haven't.
"Muslims teach their children to hate and kill". You wanna stick to that statement? Maybe, and only maybe, you can substitute the word terrorists for Muslims.
The Quran:
Quran
(2:191-193) - "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of
the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of
Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]... but if they
desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until
persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah." The historical
context of this passage is not defensive warfare, since Muhammad and
his Muslims had just relocated to Medina and were not under attack by
their Meccan adversaries. In fact, the verses urge offensive warfare, in
that Muslims are to drive Meccans out of their own city (which they later
did). The use of the word "persecution" by some Muslim translators is thus
disingenuous (the actual Muslim words for persecution - "idtihad" - and
oppression - a variation of "z-l-m" - do not appear in the verse). The actual
Arabic comes from "fitna" which can mean disbelief, or the disorder that results
from unbelief or temptation. Taken as a whole, the context makes clear that
violence is being authorized until "religion is for Allah" - ie.
unbelievers desist in their unbelief.
Quran
(2:244) - "Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth
and knoweth all things."
Quran
(2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed
for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which
is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah
knoweth, and ye know not." Not only does this verse establish that violence
can be virtuous, but it also contradicts the myth that fighting is intended only
in self-defense, since the audience was obviously not under attack at the time.
From the Hadith, we know that this verse was narrated at a time that Muhammad
was actually trying to motivate his people into raiding
merchant caravans for loot.
Quran
(3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible
agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to
help."
Quran
(3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers,
for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no
authority". This speaks directly of polytheists, yet it also includes
Christians, since they believe in the Trinity (ie. what Muhammad incorrectly
believed to be 'joining companions to Allah').
Quran
(4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this
world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he
victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward." The martyrs of Islam are
unlike the early Christians, led meekly to the slaughter. These Muslims are
killed in battle, as they attempt to inflict death and destruction for the cause
of Allah. Here is the theological basis for today's suicide bombers.
Quran
(4:76) - "Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…"
Quran
(4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus
be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until
they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn
renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case)
take no friends or helpers from their ranks."
Quran
(4:95) - "Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no
hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and
their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight
with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in
Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He
distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-" This
passage criticizes "peaceful" Muslims who do not join in the violence, letting
them know that they are less worthy in Allah's eyes. It also demolishes the
modern myth that "Jihad" doesn't mean holy war in the Quran, but rather a
spiritual struggle. Not only is the Arabic word used in this passage, but it is
clearly not referring to anything spiritual, since the physically
disabled are given exemption. (The Hadith reveals the context of the passage to
be in response to a blind man's protest that he is unable to engage in Jihad and
this is reflected in other translations of the verse).
Quran
(4:104) - "And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer
pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain..." Is pursuing
an injured and retreating enemy really an act of self-defense?
Quran
(5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His
messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should
be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on
opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for
them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous
chastisement"
Quran
(8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve.
Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them" No
reasonable person would interpret this to mean a spiritual struggle.
Quran
(8:15) - "O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle,
turn not your backs to them. (16)Whoso on that day turneth his back to them,
unless maneuvering for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath
incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey's
end."
Quran
(8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder,
unbelief) and religion should be only for Allah" Some translations
interpret "fitna" as "persecution", but the traditional understanding of this
word is not supported by the historical context (See notes for 2:293, also).
The Meccans were simply refusing Muhammad access to their city during Haj.
Other Muslims were allowed to travel there - just not as an armed group, since
Muhammad had declared war on Mecca prior to his eviction. The Meccans were also
acting in defense of their religion, since it was Muhammad's intention to
destroy their idols and establish Islam by force (which he later did). Hence
the critical part of this verse is to fight until "religion is only for
Allah", meaning that the true justification of violence was the unbelief of
the opposition. According to the Sira (Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 324) Muhammad further
explains that "Allah must have no rivals."
Quran
(8:57) - "If thou comest on them in the war, deal with them so as to
strike fear in those who are behind them, that haply they may remember."
Quran
(8:59-60) - "And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can
outstrip (Allah's Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape. Make ready for them all
thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay
the enemy of Allah and your enemy."
Quran
(8:65) - "O Prophet, exhort the believers to fight..."
Quran
(9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the
idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and
lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and
pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them." According to this verse,
the best way of staying safe from Muslim violence is to convert to Islam.
Prayer (salat) and the poor tax (zakat) are among the religion's
Five Pillars.
Quran
(9:14) - "Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them
to disgrace..."
Quran
(9:20) - "Those who believe, and have left their homes and striven with
their wealth and their lives in Allah's way are of much greater worth in Allah's
sight. These are they who are triumphant." The "striving" spoken of here is
Jihad (Arabic).
Quran
(9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold
that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor
acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book,
until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."
"People of the Book" refers to Christians and Jews. This was one of the
final "revelations" from Allah and it set in motion the tenacious military
expansion, in which Muhammad's companions managed to conquer two-thirds of the
Christian world in the next 100 years. Islam is intended to dominate all other
people and faiths.
Quran
(9:30) - "And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians
say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they
imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how
they are turned away!"
Quran
(9:38-39) - "O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye
are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do
ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of
this life, as compared with the Hereafter. Unless ye go forth, He will punish
you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place." This is a
warning to those who refuse to fight, that they will be punished with Hell.
Quran
(9:41) - "Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your
wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but
knew." See also the verse that follows (9:42)
- "If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would
(all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed)
on them" This contradicts the myth that Muslims are to fight only in
self-defense, since the wording implies that battle will be waged a long
distance from home (in another country and on Christian soil, in this case,
according to the historians).
Quran
(9:73) - "O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the
hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the
destination." Dehumanizing those who reject Islam, by reminding Muslims
that they are merely firewood for Hell, makes it easier to justify slaughter.
It also explains why today's devout Muslims have little regard for those outside
the faith.
Quran
(9:88) - "But the Messenger, and those who believe with him, strive and
fight with their wealth and their persons: for them are (all) good things: and
it is they who will prosper."
Quran
(9:111) - "Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their
goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His
cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the
Law, the Gospel, and the Quran: and who is more faithful to his covenant than
Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the
achievement supreme."
Quran
(9:123) - "O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near
to you and let them find in you hardness."
Quran
(17:16) - "And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to
the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word
proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction." Note that
the crime is moral transgression, and the punishment is "utter destruction."
(Before ordering the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden first issued Americans an
invitation to Islam).
Quran
(18:65-81) - This parable lays the theological groundwork for honor
killings, in which a family member is murdered because they brought shame to the
family, either through apostasy or perceived moral indiscretion. The story
(which is not found in any Jewish or Christian source) tells of Moses
encountering a man with "special knowledge" who does things which don't seem to
make sense on the surface, but are then justified according to later
explanation. One such action is to murder a youth for no apparent reason (74).
However, the wise man later explains that it was feared that the boy would
"grieve" his parents by "disobedience and ingratitude." He was killed so that
Allah could provide them a 'better' son. (Note: This is one reason why honor
killing is sanctioned by Sharia. Reliance of the Traveler (Umdat al-Saliq) says
that punishment for murder is not applicable when a parent or grandparent kills
their offspring (o.1.1-2).)
Quran
(21:44) - "We gave the good things of this life to these men and their
fathers until the period grew long for them; See they not that We gradually
reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they
who will win?"
Quran
(25:52) - "Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against
them with the utmost strenuousness..." "Strive against" is Jihad -
obviously not in the personal context. It's also significant to point out that
this is a Meccan verse.
Quran
(33:60-62) - "If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease,
and the alarmists in the city do not cease, We verily shall urge thee on against
them, then they will be your neighbors in it but a little while. Accursed, they
will be seized wherever found and slain with a (fierce) slaughter." This
passage sanctions the slaughter (rendered "merciless" and "horrible murder" in
other translations) against three groups: Hypocrites (Muslims who refuse to
"fight in the way of Allah" (3:167)
and hence don't act as Muslims should), those with "diseased hearts" (which
include Jews and Christians 5:51-52),
and "alarmists" or "agitators who include those who merely speak out against
Islam, according to Muhammad's biographers. It is worth noting that the victims
are to be sought out by Muslims, which is what today's terrorists do. If this
passage is meant merely to apply to the city of Medina, then it is unclear why
it is included in Allah's eternal word to Muslim generations.
Quran
(47:3-4) - "Those who reject Allah follow vanities, while those who
believe follow the truth from their lord. Thus does Allah set forth form men
their lessons by similitude. Therefore when you meet in battle those who
disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make
(them) prisoners," Those who reject Allah are to be subdued in battle. The
verse goes on to say the only reason Allah doesn't do the dirty work himself is
in order to to test the faithfulness of Muslims. Those who kill pass the test.
"But if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution
from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with
others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their
deeds be lost."
Quran
(47:35) - "Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye
should be uppermost (Shakir: "have the upper hand") for Allah is with
you,"
Quran
(48:17) - "There is no blame for the blind, nor is there blame for the
lame, nor is there blame for the sick (that they go not forth to war). And whoso
obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which
rivers flow; and whoso turneth back, him will He punish with a painful doom."
Contemporary apologists sometimes claim that Jihad means 'spiritual
struggle.' Is so, then why are the blind, lame and sick exempted? This verse
also says that those who do not fight will suffer torment in hell.
Quran
(48:29) - "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are
hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves"
Islam is not about treating everyone equally. There are two
very distinct standards that are applied based on religious status. Also the
word used for 'hard' or 'ruthless' in this verse shares the same root as the
word translated as 'painful' or severe' in verse 16.
Quran
(61:4) - "Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way" Religion of
Peace, indeed! This is followed by (61:9):
"He it is who has sent His Messenger (Mohammed) with guidance and the
religion of truth (Islam) to make it victorious over all religions even
though the infidels may resist."
Quran
(61:10-12) - "O ye who believe! Shall I lead you to a bargain that will
save you from a grievous Penalty?- That ye believe in Allah and His Messenger,
and that ye strive (your utmost) in the Cause of Allah, with your property and
your persons: That will be best for you, if ye but knew! He will forgive you
your sins, and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, and to beautiful
mansions in Gardens of Eternity." This verse was given in battle. It uses
the Arabic word, Jihad.
Quran
(66:9) - "O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites,
and be stern with them. Hell will be their home, a hapless journey's end."
The root word of "Jihad" is used again here. The context is clearly holy
war, and the scope of violence is broadened to include "hypocrites" - those who
call themselves Muslims but do not act as such.
From the Hadith:
Bukhari
(52:177) - Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until
you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will
say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."
Bukhari
(52:256) - The Prophet... was asked whether it was permissible to attack
the pagan warriors at night with the probability of exposing their women and
children to danger. The Prophet replied, "They (i.e. women and children) are
from them (i.e. pagans)." In this command, Muhammad establishes that it is
permissible to kill non-combatants in the process of killing a perceived enemy.
This provides justification for the many Islamic terror bombings.
Bukhari
(52:220) - Allah's Apostle said... 'I have been made victorious with
terror'
Abu
Dawud (14:2526) - The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Three things are
the roots of faith: to refrain from (killing) a person who utters, "There is no
god but Allah" and not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits, and
not to excommunicate him from Islam for his any action; and jihad will be
performed continuously since the day Allah sent me as a prophet until the day
the last member of my community will fight with the Dajjal (Antichrist)
Abu
Dawud (14:2527) - The Prophet said: Striving in the path of Allah (jihad)
is incumbent on you along with every ruler, whether
he is pious or impious
Muslim
(1:33) - the Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight
against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad
is the messenger of Allah
Bukhari
(8:387) - Allah's Apostle said, "I have been ordered to fight the people
till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah'. And if they say
so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then
their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with
them except legally."
Muslim
(1:30) - "The Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight
against people so long as they do not declare that there is no god but
Allah."
Muslim
(1:149) - "Abu Dharr reported: I said: Messenger of Allah, which of the
deeds is the best? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Belief in Allah and Jihad in
His cause..."
Muslim
(20:4645) - "...He (the Messenger of Allah) did that and said: There is
another act which elevates the position of a man in Paradise to a grade one
hundred (higher), and the elevation between one grade and the other is equal to
the height of the heaven from the earth. He (Abu Sa'id) said: What is that act?
He replied: Jihad in the way of Allah! Jihad in the way of Allah!"
Muslim
(20:4696) - "the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: 'One
who died but did not fight in the way of Allah nor did he express any desire (or
determination) for Jihid died the death of a hypocrite.'"
Muslim
(19:4321-4323) - Three separate hadith in which Muhammad shrugs over the
news that innocent children were killed in a raid by his men against
unbelievers. His response: "They are of them (meaning the enemy)."
Muslim
(19:4294) - "When the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) appointed
anyone as leader of an army or detachment he would especially exhort him... He
would say: Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against
those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war... When you meet your enemies
who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to
any one of these, you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any
harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them
and desist from fighting against them... If they refuse to accept Islam, demand
from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your
hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them.
Tabari 7:97 The morning after the murder of Ashraf, the Prophet
declared, "Kill any Jew who falls under your power." Ashraf was a poet,
killed by Muhammad's men because he insulted Islam. Here, Muhammad widens the
scope of his orders to kill. An innocent Jewish businessman was then slain by
his Muslim partner, merely for being non-Muslim.
Tabari 9:69 "Killing Unbelievers is a small matter to us" The
words of Muhammad, prophet of Islam.
Tabari 17:187 "'By God, our religion (din) from which we have
departed is better and more correct than that which these people follow. Their
religion does not stop them from shedding blood, terrifying the roads, and
seizing properties.' And they returned to their former religion." The words
of a group of Christians who had converted to Islam, but realized their error
after being shocked by the violence and looting committed in the name of Allah.
The price of their decision to return to a religion of peace was that the men
were beheaded and the woman and children enslaved by the caliph Ali.
Ibn Ishaq/Hisham
327: - “Allah said, ‘A
prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven
from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the
ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the
religion.’”
Ibn Ishaq/Hisham
990: - Lest anyone think that
cutting off someone's head while screaming 'Allah Akbar!' is a modern creation,
here is an account of that very practice under Muhammad, who seems to
approve.
Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 992:
- "Fight everyone in the way
of Allah and kill those who disbelieve in Allah." Muhammad's instructions
to his men prior to a military raid.
Kabul, July 3 — The arrest of two children and a teenager with bombs and remote-controlled devices in Afganistan's [sic] former Taliban stronghold of Kandahar has sparked fears that the militant outfit could be training more children as suicide bombers.
The children were aged eight and 12 and the teenager was 17 years old, Xinhua reported citing Kandahar province spokesman Jawed Faisal.
They were arrested in Zharay district of the province, while carrying multiple improvised explosive devices and homemade explosives.
Unicef spokesman in Kabul, Aziz Farotan, said at least 316 children under 18 were recruited by militant outfits in 2011 to fight against the government.
The Taliban are yet to admit recruiting children for fighting against the government.
However, Afghan officials said Taliban-run madrassas or Islamic religious schools in Pakistan's northwest tribal belt along the border with Afghanistan train young students in terror tactics and send them to Afghanistan to fight....

Probably one of Mitt the Twit's sons.
God knows they have no jobs and nothing better to do.
You're a troll!
Way to take it to stupid-ville..."God knows..." you're an athiest Dip-Stick.
LMAO for you using the word god when you are an atheist. Good one. Still laughing.
What an idiotic comment! Did you miss this line in the article?
The evacuation was prompted by a call at around 8:35 a.m. from a male with a Middle Eastern accent...
Cathy,
Well that settles it because we all know that it isn't possible to fake an accent!
New Day, that wasn't cathy's statement. It was written in the article. she was just stating to GAM his statement was ridiculous.
GayAtheistMarine,
You aren't also part of a minority group too, are you? But seriously, good for you, glad you can be proud of who you are.
But I will say that based on your screen name, you are probably pretty good at seeing things as they are vs. just how they appear. Now, I sincerely doubt that any of "Mittens kittens" are involved in this, but I would not put it past some of his very wealthy supporters. These guys are masters of deception. Seems like the timing would be right considering Mitt is getting called out for doubling down on his latest lie and misrepresentation.
Besides serving as a distraction, it could be perceived by some as being justification for Mitt's position. I can imagine this water cooler quote by one of Mitts far right supporters. "See, we just can't trust these people, Mitt is right and he really understands what is going on, unlike the wimpy apologizer in chief."
Most of what has been happening with the exception of the violent terrorist attack against the Benghazi Consulate, has been about stirring up peoples emotions. Terrorists kill people with no warning, troublemakers stir the pot with rhetoric and deception.
Lisa,
So what that it was written in the article? Does that mean the threat was made by a Middle Eastern Terrorist? No, all it means is they got a threat that they perceived as coming from a Middle Eastern person based on the sound of the accent.
I stand behind my sarcasm, because a perceived accent tells you absolutely nothing other than it came from someone with an accent or possibly someone trying to leave an impression. Cathy, apparently jumped to the conclusion that somehow proved it couldn't possibly be one of Mitt's sons. For all we really know, it could have come from Mitt himself or anybody. Don't be so gullible.
This could be a distraction for something else. Keep your eyes open!
There has been a lot of "smoke and mirrors" being used the last few days, and I agree it is somewhat of a distraction and deception. The thing is that often with these type of things, where it actually originates from is not the obvious source. Keep your eyes open, but also keep your mind open. Don't just jump to the obvious conclusion.
Terrorists generally don't give warnings. What we are seeing here may very well be about manipulating opinion rather than killing people.
newday, are you on the al qeada payroll? Between you and AC2JS it sounds like you are a real pair of tools.
"smoke and mirrors"? What and idiot you must be! DO you not have a television? Can you see what is happening right now in MUSLIM controlled countries?
I am all for intelligent measured response, but, to not open your eyes and see the plain truth in front of you makes all of your other statements seem hollow and party driven rather than the thoughts of a concerned reasonable citizen.
Obama insists that Islam is a Religion of Peace despite all appearances to the contrary, and that the Vast Majority of Peaceful Muslims hate and abhor the murderous rages going on all over the world today in the name of Islam. His evidence? Why, he has none, except that the demos in Cairo are smaller today than when people were gathering against Mubarak. Does he have any evidence anywhere of any Muslims taking action to rein in the bloody rioters and murderers? Why, no, because there isn't any such evidence. But wishful thinking is eternal.
Tx Conserv...did you really just call newday an idiot and then ask him if he watched mainstream media? Real idiots believe everything they are shown on TV.
Wanna know what happened to common sense in this country? It's been sucked out of us by the boob tube! Do yourself and the rest of society a favor and turn off your TV!!! Do a little research...and not just the internet. Try going to the library....if you remember what that is. Read a newspaper...and not just the conservative ones.
The old "smoke and mirrors" campaign is not in anyway a new thing and not at all an unrealistic theory. At this point all we can do is speculate what really is happening here. We shouldn't rule out any possibility. We should all keep our eyes and our minds open.

Please, for the love of god, stop commenting on how stupid people are without first proof-reading your own comments. "What and idiot you must be!" That doesn't even make sense, and most of your previous comments were riddled with typos.
a texas conservative;
How dare new day recommend keeping your eyes and mind open. Yeah, a real tool. We can all see how open minded you are. It needs to be said---over the course of history, more war and death has been inflicted in the name christianity than any other.
My thoughts are that Terrorists wont warn us if they want to hurt people

More islamic madness
You cannot blame this on Muslims, no one even knows who mad these calls. I went to an American school in Germany and kids would call a bomb threat because they thought it was funny.
CVP dude;
You mean "more terrorist madness." I'm sure you can differentiate, can't you?
What if this is a college student wanting to get out of a test?
seriously! everyone's first thought it always: ITS GOTTA BE THE "ISLAMISTS" as some moron commented above but no one ever considers the obvious. I had 5 bomb/person with a gun threats over 4 years at my university. these things happen on a regular basis. let's not let the fear mongering get out of control. the majority of the bomb threats I saw were just that- empty threats.
I'm in Fargo and no news yet just was told to evacuate university .......10:55am
BuildTheFence.... Shut the F up! Its people like you that like to stir up hate! What's going on is def not good at all and something should be done! But we shouldnt double down on hate and bigoty!!!
I see everyone rushing to blame Islam, but consider this: School has been in session about four weeks in many places that are on the Semester system, and it's just about time for that first set of exams to come up.
Could just be that a new freshman with a slight case of reality impairment decided that this would be a good way to get an extra few days to study up. Given the circumstances, this is plausible.
The idea that a terrorist would go through all the trouble of making and planting bombs, then call up to warn everyone away before they go off, makes no sense whatsoever.
My thought, too, that it's some kid trying to get out of exams...but to have it happen at two different universities at the same time? Seems a little odd...
beaner - depending on whether or not the schools are on the quarter or semester system, midterms are always about the same time. If both schools are on the same system, it is not unusual at all to have a bomb scare the week before the test week.
Understood - but classes at NDSU have been in session only since August 24...we do not have midterms right now because it is not the middle of the semester. I'm a grad student at NDSU, so I would know what's up with the school...
idk man college kids do crazy stuff for no reason. i remember once we told the teacher our dorm had come down with a case of the flu so we couldn't take a test and out of the blue another dorm hall also claimed they had that flu and couldn't take a test either. teachers thought it was like a widescale epidemic or swine flu lol. Not even trying to be ageist since I just graduated but some 20 year olds just can't be trusted.
Sounds to me more like some college kid was late in turning in his paper and decided to call in a "bomb threat" to delay it by a day or 2. He prob figured with all the mid-east stuff people would panic and take it seriously.
Ok, so if the call came in at 8:35 and told they had 90 minutes that is saying the bomb would go off at 10:05. So why were they ordered out by 10:15? I mean obviously there was no bomb, but if there was a bomb, we would be outraged that the college didn't act quicker and get them out in less than 90 minutes!
Unfortunately they did not have enough time to take the word problem to the math department and get it figured out. LOL
This is an exciting group of commenters! How silly will you all feel if this was a college student trying to get out of taking a test today?
