Traffic stands still near LSU's campus Sept. 17, 2012.
Students, professors and staff at Louisiana State University were allowed to return to the school’s main campus in Baton Rouge Monday night, hours after a bomb threat forced a full-scale evacuation, school officials said.
“All classes and events scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 18 will be held as planned, and university employees and students should plan to return to their normal schedules on Tuesday,” LSU’s website said Monday night.
LSU Police and other law enforcement agencies are still investigating the origin of the threatening call.
Law enforcement officials had been on high alert since a call came in at 11:32 ET saying there was a bomb on the university’s grounds, university spokeswoman Christine Calongne said.

Students and staff were sent text messages and an alert was posted on the campus website warning, "A bomb threat has been reported on the LSU campus. Please evacuate as calmly and quickly as possible."
Classes and a news conference with LSU football coach Les Miles were canceled Monday due to the threat, officials said. Students and staff were asked to stay off campus as the university investigated the bomb threat.
"It is important for all members of the LSU community -- faculty, staff and students -- to remain off campus unless specifically instructed to return," the university said on its website.
Capt. Doug Cain of the Louisiana State Police told The Associated Press that state police bomb technicians were on the scene. Cain said police were talking to their counterparts in both Texas and North Dakota where university bomb threats were reported last week.
Traffic was at a standstill as the main campus’s 30,000 students, professors and staff evacuated school grounds. Buses loaded with students barely moved from the central part of LSU’s campus, according to The Advocate in Baton Rouge.
Andrew Arceneaux, an LSU student studying business administration, joined other students and waited for buses to arrive so they could leave campus.
“I was in the middle of taking a test and they walked in and told us we had to leave campus,” Arceneaux told the Advocate.
Both the University of Texas in Austin and North Dakota State in Fargo received threats on Friday. The threats prompted the evacuation of both campuses. No explosives were found at either university.

When I worked at a newspaper in the 80s, we got bomb threats at least once a month. Its what people do when they feel powerless, or didnt study for an exam.
I hope they catch whomever is making these threats.
Takes me back to my high school days in the 70's. Every time you turned around we were having bomb threats. Same with the local theater. Couldn't sit through an entire movie, there for a while. So, I guess the bomb threats are nothing new. Move along, no news here.

We had bomb threats at school when I was a student. I graduated in 1965. So this is really not news. The media just didn't report it back then.

I do not think that anybody believes that the movie itself caused this stuff. We know that the extremists were waiting for us to do something dumb so they could act. We did. A fraction of population made a YouTube video to stir up trouble. They knew what they were doing and they got the reaction they wanted.
Has anybody checked on the movements of known International Theif Rings made up mostly of Austrians? Are the local securities exchange firms secure while all this is happening.

Isn't it coincidental that within the last month or so a movie came out about Obama, and to divert attention away from said movie, all of a sudden a movie comes out portraying Mohammed as a whack job, so to speak. Congress suc#'s, House Suc#'s, Pres Suc#'s it just never ends. Somehow we have to get good influential people to run for office in every form. I would be willing to bet that every ones city and state gov are just as bad as the federal govt. I'm not sure how to get a better quality of person to run for government but the country in a whole is headed down the wrong path and we the people need to correct our mistakes from the past 16 - 20 years

I am a die hard Alabama fan from NJ, and have been since Bear Bryant was there. I'm surprised they even let a moron like you into Auburn. There have been numerous bomb threats called in to several universities in the last few weeks. To make an ignorant comment like that is ridiculous. The idiot who poisoned the tree tied to the tree until it died. That being said, it was also some of the great folks at Auburn who came to the aid of Bama when the tornado destroyed so much of that area. Obviously you were not included in that group.

This is absurd. Why is it that school is the least safe place to be???? First they put up the dinky doo little signs that say NO GUNS ALLOWED in the idiotic hope this will make a criminal not shoot the place up, now they get bomb threats. Well shucks, folks, I guess the solution is ob-vious! Put up a sign that say BOMB FREE ZONE and stop them there crim'nals in their tracks. Or spend some money and put up a sign that says NO GUNS, LOITERING, RAPE, ROBBERY, CAR JACKING, PUBLIC MASTURBATION, DRUG USE, ALCAHOL USE, THEFT, ASSAULT, CHILD PORN, SPITTING ON THE SIDEWALK, FLICKING BOOGERS OR TERRORISM ALLOWED ON PREMISES AND PLEASE ALSO TUCK IN YOUR SHIRTS. That aughtta do it. Thenh school will be safe again.

So it is about winning or losing. It all boils down to the winning team and the bigger the rival the better.

Hopefully these college bomb threats are just some crazy, copy cats doing it, wanting the attention and it is false information, but if it is home grown, Jihadists toying with America and then to many threats, they get ignored, then Bang, they hit.............
Hence why despite how many people complain about having to evacuate for bomb threats, every single one have to be taken seriously. Punishments for false bomb threats are quite harsh, even for juveniles, because state and federal governments have to pour in a lot of money for threat responses and clearing them.
