Subscribe to RSSA Detroit Chrysler plant worker fatally stabbed a co-worker Thursday morning and then killed himself at a city park, police said.
Police sources told NBC station WDIV that the assailant was a line worker who stabbed his union steward over a possible affair with his wife, who also works at the plant.
Chrysler said one employee was pronounced dead at the scene at its Jefferson North Assembly plant.
Police told WDIV that the suspect fled the factory after the 8 a.m. stabbing near the loading docks and was found dead at Belle Isle, a park, where he shot himself.
DetroitNews.com identified the stabbing victim as Keith Readus and the suspected assailant as Jeff Hunter.
The Jefferson North plant employs just over 3,000 workers on two shifts. The 3-million-square-foot plant makes the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango full-size SUVs.

We are far less likely to kill anyone at work than you " Normal People ". You normal people are doing all the killing out there not us. But we get the bad rap for what you did. The way our country is going. I am starting to think that life was easier and safer in the jungles of NAM.

All guns need to go. Every one of them. Go door to door with Swat teams to confiscate them all. Anyone who resists should be thrown in jail. If guns were banned one person would still be alive. I don't know many people who would stab themselves to death. Much easier to kill yourself with a gun than with a knife.

I agree. Why is there a double standard? We seem to always place the woman as the evil one and let men off the hook.Without knowing the circumstances, there is no way of understanding what has happened to lead this man to do what he did. He could have been separated, his wife filing for divorce or he could have been abusive and his wife finally left based on this coworkers advice. All we know is he has now killed someone and taken his life. Blaming his wife for his actions is simpling adding mud to the situation. How sad for all involved.

The incident was most likely not related to an unfaithful partner, but over the crap that Chrysler calls quality automobiles that they continue to produce even after their sale to a foreign company, and a massive bail out by the government. Who is buying Chysler products and why would they waste their money? Thats all folks!

Long story short - I was a cop - came home unexpecectedly while on duty - caught wife and friend. Ex later said they thought I was going to shoot them - my comment, "What makes you think either of you is worth me going to jail for and leaving our children without parents?"

This story is somewhat of an improvement over previous news stories, in that the killer targeted only his victim and then killed himself. He didn't take a lot of collateral damage with him.
