Jami Lynn Toler, 27, faked having breast cancer so she could have her breasts augmented, according to Arizona police.
A Phoenix woman accused of pretending to have cancer to raise money for breast implants was sentenced on Wednesday to one year in jail, local media reported.
As part of a plea agreement, Jami Lynn Toler, 27, will also get three years’ probation and pay restitution, The Arizona Republic reported.
"I am so sorry for violating the trust placed in me and so sorry for what I did," Toler said at her sentencing, according to kpho.com.
Toler pleaded guilty in Maricopa County Superior Court last month to theft.
According to prosecutors, Toler told her family, friends and co-workers at Hallmark Hospice that she had breast cancer and needed money for a double mastectomy and breast reconstructive surgery.
Toler's mother created a website for donations, and police said people donated more than $8,000 to the cause beginning in 2011.

According to court records, Toler paid a doctor $5,800 cash for breast augmentation surgery that was performed Nov. 15.
Staff at her workplace became suspicious when she couldn't provide a doctor’s note for her medical leave, according to wptv.com.
Medical records later obtained by police show she didn't have cancer.

She probably could have gone to one of those campaign/begging sites, like indiegogo.com, and set up an account asking for $8k to get a boob job, and probably gotten it. After all, the bus monitor got $702K for being bullied, and what better cause is there than huge breasts? (joking and sarcasm only) :)

speaking as the worlds smartest man (also likely the most interesting and best looking) i am offended that she thought she could succeed with that half baked idea? there is an ancient chinese proverb, that says woman with big boobs attracts big boobs. i once had a colleague named bob joob. Chicken breasts dont look good on a turkey. strange that women come with milk dispensers, but often refuse to make cake.
Another thing I want to point out to people here: this might actually deter some people from donating money to cancer patients, ultimately leading them to die. This lady is a horrible human being and should be charged with manslaughter also imo.

People will do extraordinary things to appear more "beautiful." But the most beautiful thing that any woman can show is self-confidence. And a clean record will help you in that.
Sick people in this world. If she really knew what it was like to have cancer she would not impersinate herself as one who has it just to get some free boobs. I have breast cancer discovered in 2008 and been been fighting for my life since. It has now mestasized to my bones. I have had multiple surgeries, chemo twice and radiation and have insurance but must also work to pay my bills. A lot of scars and the pain. It hurts to look in the mirror and at the faces of my family as I struggle not knowing if I will live or die as I am taking monthly shots and medication to fight off the cancer that is destroying my bones. People make me so sick I can't stand looking at her face..... So you ask what has she done wrong people come on she is keeping people from from getting help when they need it. I would never wish this on anyone and I hope she never gets it but for now she needs to be sentenced to have her FREE TITS CUT OFF so she will know what it is like to be a cancer patient and struggle without them or having the surgery from your stomach fat and muscles implanted to make new ones. Horrible horrible , I don't know what to call her but she isn't human that is for sure.!!!!!

as sleazy as what she did was it was actually no different what what politiicians do every day, they lie to people to get money. Perhaps instead of a year in jail they should have made her return the implants. Personally I think being forced to go through life with big plastic bags of silicone swen in my chest would be far worse than having small tits. I think fake tits are ugly.

I have to disagree, she is a thief, and she deserves more than a year in jail. If you pulled the same scam to get a penis enlargement (not saying you need it) you'd get a lot more time just because you're male!
It's not right for the taxpayers to pay for her housing, food, and medical care for a year. Put the tracking anklet on her and require written permission to leave the house. If she stays in jail, she should be billed for her stay - maybe provide a treadmill hooked to a generator so she can be paid for the energy she can put into the power grid (which she could pay for her keep.)
Her sentence should include a year of volunteering at cancer centers, changing bedpans and similar activities.

It could be a win/win - Use a Pillory like they did in Massachusetts with the pilgrims - a sign to state her "crime" will also include public humiliation which serves a better purpose for thoughtless and uncaring people to experience. Besides, it would also be a General Deterrent for any other person that would come up with similar ideas!

As a friend and family member of people struck with this horrible illness, I only hope she never knows what cancer actually is. When she is spending that year in jail she should have to talk to cancer survivors or family members of someone who lost their battle with cancer. She should see their scars, see their suffering, and know that Karma is a b!tch

Jail time is not unusual when someone is convicted of a criminal activity. (you know, like fraud...) She's lucky to get off so easy.
And the sweet little girl in the MSN story today who passed from a cancerous brain tumor who 'married' Justin Biebers' poster she loved him so much even though she was just a little one. Who helped her? Justin made her entire short life worth it by spending some time with her. People are so insane anymore. (shaking head) Just for boobs. Man o' man.

As a breast cancer survivor-This story make me sick with this story. I didnt get to have the implants--I'm surviving and to hear someone made up a story about having breast cancer,,,,,,remember the little boy who cried wolf-----Cancer in any form isn't funny or something you lie about. 7 year survivor and proud of it

I agree with you both. My cousin has passed away from cancer, my aunt currently has cancer and my mom has had cancer. So to hear that she LIED about having it just to get money for a boob job makes me sick. They should make her have them removed and then visit at a cancer center and talk to people who really have cancer and see what they have to endure.
I hope that is required to do lots of community service after her jail time. She needs to be required to work with cancer victims to gain a better understanding of what they have to go thru. Perhaps then she will truly be remorseful for what she did. I would not wish this disease on anyone.

I have mestasized breat cancer to my bones have had multiple surgeries, radiation, chemo twice and may have to have chemo again as the shots aren't working and my CA27-29 tumor markers are on the rise again. We are going to try some pills Armodix and if it doesn't work then back to chemo fighting for my life the dumb bitch. Yes She should have them cut off and also be around any cancer patient receiving all their hours and hours week after week day after day of chemo, lab work shots etc..
MC-TX Congratulations Strong Survivor! Cancer is never funny. I lost my younger sister a little over a year ago in just 10 days from diagnosis until she passed. I think I am still in shock. I miss her terribly. Those here making light of cancer have perhaps never lost or knows anyone going through the terrible struggles and treatments. And Patty, I am so sorry you are going through that hell. My best to you also. Fight on! Bless you all who suffer so much, and fight so hard for the strength to beat it. My thoughts are with you. MC-TX, I'm a breast cancer survivor, too--9 years in December. I did not have reconstructive surgery, because my insurance would not pay for it. They considered it 'cosmetic.' Fortunately, I have a loving husband who jokes he 'can't see the difference.' (I'm tall and skinny)
This woman needs to do some kind of volunteer work with breast cancer/cancer patients in the process of treatment: balding, vomiting, weak, pale and much more. Not pleasant. She has no idea how difficult any cancer is. None. She got just what she deserved.
