The FBI and local police in Michigan plan to take soil samples from the backyard of a house in the Detroit suburb of Roseville on Friday, acting on a dying man's tip that the body of former Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa might be buried there.
Authorities have chased down hundreds of would-be leads since Hoffa disappeared 37 years ago after he met with two top Mafia operatives at a restaurant in Bloomfield Township, another Detroit suburb, in July 1975. All have led to dead ends, but authorities said this lead could be different.
NBC station WDIV-TV of Detroit reported that an unidentified man who is dying from cancer told Roseville police that he saw men moving a black bag at the garage of the house just hours after Hoffa went missing. Acting on the tip, authorities ran radar tests last week that picked up an image of something buried beneath a cement slab in the backyard.
Roseville Police Chief James Berlin confirmed that investigators had received the tip, telling the Detroit Free Press that "the information seemed credible, so we decided to follow up on it."
The newspaper reported that the house is in the 18700 block of Florida Street in northern Roseville, about 20 miles northeast of Detroit.

The disappearance of Hoffa — who ran the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the country's biggest labor union, from 1957 to 1971 — has long fueled conspiracy theories. At various times, his body was posited to have been buried under Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.; beneath General Motors headquarters at Detroit's Renaissance Center; on a farm in Hartland Township, Mich.; in a field in Milford, Mich.; and even on the grounds of the White House.
What is known is that Hoffa, who was then 62, was chafing at restrictions on his activity in the Teamsters that President Richard Nixon imposed when he commuted Hoffa's 1967 federal prison sentence for fraud and jury tampering in 1971 (he continued to run the union from his prison cell). On July 30, 1975, Hoffa was scheduled to meet with Anthony "Tony Jack" Giacalone, capo of the Detroit Mafia, and Anthony "Tony Pro" Provenzano, a former Teamsters vice president who was also a captain in the Genovese crime family, at a restaurant called the Machus Red Fox in Bloomfield Township.
In a 1976 "here we stand" memo published several years later, the FBI speculated that Hoffa reluctantly agreed to the meeting to try to smooth over differences with Provenzano and Giacalone, who were reportedly perturbed that Hoffa was trying to get back into the Teamsters' leadership, That, presumably, would have lessened the mob's control over the union.

"It is believed that the hit, if there was one, would have been approved at very highest levels within the Organized Crime structure," the FBI concluded. "If this be the case, it would tend to lend credence to the evidence that PROVENZANO or certainly someone at his level, both within the Teamsters Union and (Mafia), was responsible."
Hoffa's body has never been found. Provenzano was later convicted of an unrelated murder and died in 1988; Giacalone, who was imprisoned for tax fraud, died in 2001.

It would be interesting to know, not where he is, but why. Jimmy Hoffa was one of the best union organizers that ever lived. Unlike a community organizer. He was instrumental in creating most unions in the US. Unions are for weak individuals who either don't have the education or ambition to make it on their own. You either have, by your own choice, someone negotiating your wage for you because you are too weak to do it on your own, or either you don't have the ability and ambition to do it on your own. You can have education and ambition, but if you have both, you will find it stifling beyond measure to be held back by the union goons.
The one exception to this statement would be, if in the field where you find employment, that you would have no other choice than to join a union if you wish to work in a particular area, even if you don't wish to become a union member. Otherwise, the combination of education and ambition will pretty much give you what you want out of life. For the rest, they can join unions. They love weaklings.
This applies whether you push a broom for a living, or fly a 747. You can have education and ambition, but if you join a union, then by default, you are giving up your ability to use them both congruently. You will be able to use one, or the other, but not both at the same time. The one exception to this statement would be if your goal is to rise within the ranks of the union leadership.
Why are they wasting tax payer money? It makes no sense to me for us to look for a guy who's long dead and likely wouldn't reveal anything to us we didn't already know.

Your post is spot on. Unions feed on weakness and submissive individuals. The most confusing part is the teachers. Here we have one of the most, allegedly, educated sectors of our society and they can't negotiate their own values? They need to pay some thugs who could care less about our children’s educational outcomes to determine what they are worth? They succumb to inferior teachers being kept on the payroll as the vast majority tries so hard to do a good job?
How can this be? Obviously they believe tenure is more important than merit. As a result we have the second most expensive education system in the world and some of the worst results in the world. The combination of incompetent government and criminal unions has created most of our problems today, yet many still blame the real engine of our economy, commerce.

Who owned the property during the time period that Hoffa went missing. Was the owner tied to organized crime? If so, there is a chance he could be alive and questioned, should the body be found. It was murder and there is no statute of limitations.
It would be interesting to know the full story.

An innocent homeowner would not allow someone to come onto their property and bury a body and then cover it with cement. If someone were having excavation on their property I suppose they could have unwittingly been a party to a body being buried on their property but the former is more probable than the latter.

Is there money in knowing where his body lies? What would one do, sell their story of how he knows where Jimmy Hoffa rests today? I have been curious about this because a man once, after hearing where I was from, told me an elaborate story about how Jimmy Hoffa was captured, killed, transported, and buried in a descriptive location that does exist by my home. I did not know this man, I met him as I waited on a bench for my sister on vacation. Never had the resources though to look into this claim. He may have been crazy for all i know...........

jimmy haffa is burried in my bathroom.In roscommon county I hada preminition shortly after I bought my cabin in 04.kept haveng the feeling omeone was burried here,Then shortly after they were looking for him up here.I I had given up on the fact and the day I poured the cement in my bathroom floor I unearthed a severed hip bone,I assume its his.I pured the cement any way.I found a cb antena burried next to my well hole.I assume they kept him down the hole and torchered him with it before they bumped him off.
