Six teenage girls beat Pennsylvania woman, videotape attack, police say

Cell phone and surveillance video capture at least five teenage girls beating a mentally disabled woman in Pennsylvania. WCAU's Jesse Gary reports.

A group of teenage girls beat up a mentally disabled woman in Delaware County, Pa., made video of the attack and posted the clip to Facebook, according to Chester police.

In the video, which was obtained and published by the Delco Times, a group of six girls approached the woman, who was sitting on her stoop.

One of the attackers started punching the 48-year-old woman. The attack then moved inside the home, where the teens continued punching her with their fists and hitting her with chairs, among other things.

Police say the beating happened near 12th and Morton Streets Tuesday around 9 p.m. in Chester. The suspects are 16 and 17 years of age.

The victim suffered cuts and bruises on her face but did not get medical help, according to police.

Len Worby, one of the victim's neighbors, told the Delco Times the attack was the second in two weeks.

“She got beat up about two weeks ago,” Worby told the newspaper. “Someone hit her over the head with a gun.”

A local parent saw the video on Facebook Thursday morning and tipped off police.

Police say they tracked down four of the teenage girls in the video. Two of those arrested are sisters, according to the Delco Times. The Associated Press reported they were charged as adults with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, burglary and harassment.

"The parents are upset," one of the officers told the Times. "The girls are defiant. It's like they didn't do anything wrong."

Investigators say they're searching for two more girls who they believe were involved.

"Their behavior is animalistic to this poor woman," Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan told the Times. "We are going to aggressively prosecute each of them for their callous indifference to this woman."

"The parents are upset,"

This is the best line in the whole article. I wonder what they're upset about, the fact that they got caught?

It is nighttime, and these teens should not be allowed to walk the streets after dark.

Their parents are not holding them accountable.

What their parents failed to teach them, their sentence will teach them.

they don't think they did anything wrong? good...treat them like the animals they are and let them sit in some state prison for the next couple years. Maybe some sense will come to them.

    Sick, just plain sick.

It sounds like the neighbors were watching out for the woman. I believe it said it was the neighbor called the cops when she was hit with a gun earlier, and beaten this time.

Sounds to me that the families of the girls should be forced out of the area.

I just wonder why the government hasn't come up with a "Bad Parenting" tax yet. What a way to work on the deficit.

Like I said before and I will say it again PARENTING has nothing to do with this.... it does not matter a rich parent that takes care of their child punishes their child and give their child college does not mean that child will be president SO DO NOT blame the parents these Children are no longer children THEY ARE ADULTS and should be treated as such.

"Sounds to me that the families of the girls should be forced out of the area." what's happening is the other way around.. just like in detroit, and many other cities,,, violent blacks are running out the white people.. it's all part of their "plan"...

People of every color do this type of thing, and all of them need to be killed.

Isn't attacking a mentally challenged person a hate crime? WHERE is the outrage .. They should be charged with that which is a Federal offense.. Probably will never happen though.

Not only should they all be tried as adults but it should be elevated to a "HATE CRIME". Bunch of racist black girls (animals) Where is Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpchit or the NAACP now?- why are they not crying foul like in Florida? Oh thats right the crooks here were all Black, we don't want to offend them. Like they don't do hate crimes - yea right.

I bet you DO NOT see national news coverage of this every day on the news for the next two weeks - lets just sweep this under the carpet.

Time to show our support for the victims just like the school bus monitor who was verbally abused by the other group of kids. Start a website for donations for this poor woman. Let's show these girls who WINS and who LOSES (their freedom!) in this case! I still have faith in the good people of the U.S.

It's welfare that destroyed the tight-knit family-oriented black communities that thrived prior to the "Great Society."

Your filthy cursing mouth reveals someone probably raised on welfare and raising her kids on welfare!

So that people understand that things like that is just plain out wrong and disgusting..... I'm sure it would bring down some of the evil people do.........

The problem with the type of mentality we're dealing with when speaking of these girls is that public shaming will only empower them more. It gives them recognition for doing something heinous and that's what they thrive on (why else would they have done a video and posted it on-line).

The best way to deal with them is a speedy trial, a maximum sentence and, as a bonus, forced sterilization so they can't reproduce any more scum.

Sad, very sad that this is the only way these young female adults could entertain themselves.

Doesn't say much about this Country as we are reading more and more about the violence that is sweeping over this Country.

It's no wonder that gun manufacturing can't keep up with demand.

Many don't believe in charging minors as adults, however, these types of crimes are ther reason we have to do so. I would also like to see the parents of these "children" held accountable as well. If my teen acted in that fashion, I would be the first person to call the cops. If that makes me a bad person, so be it. I would rather sacrifice my broken child than put someone else in danger.

                              Ask Jesse:

There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.... After all we have been through. Just to think we can't walk down our own streets, how humiliating.

This is the result of children raised by the television where people get away with any kind of bad behavior. They learn to take whatever they want and act however they want with no consequences. Their parents are absent in their lives or are too busy trying to support their families to keep track of what their children are doing. You have to love your kids but also be aware of who they hang out with and what lessons they are learning outside the home. They may still make bad choices and if they do then, as parents, we need to make sure that they pay the piper no matter how much it hurts because otherwise they will keep repeating the bad behavior.
