Porn site seeks new breast cancer charity after Susan G. Komen rejects fundraising offer

A pornographic website that said it launched a fundraising effort for and was adamantly rejected by Susan G. Komen for the Cure still wants to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The porn site said in a press release that it is now looking for a new charity for its “Save the Boobs” campaign throughout October.

The adult website said it would donate 1 cent for every 30 views of certain videos featuring breasts during October.

The website initially targeted the campaign at Susan G. Komen for the Cure, saying that “the more boobs that are viewed, the more money that will be showered upon the [Foundation].”

But the Dallas-based organization said Wednesday that it was aware of the campaign and wanted nothing to do with it. “We are not a partner, not accepting donations, and have asked them to stop using our name,” Komen said.

Now the website is searching for a new organization, the porn site said Thursday, to receive a “significant” amount of money.

“Unfortunately we had to change our targeted beneficiary,” a site spokesman told NBC News.

The site specified that “any charitable entities related to breast cancer research or awareness should submit their interest” to the website. One charity will be chosen and announced in the coming days.

The site said in its press release that it attracts 70 million to 90 million clicks per month and could raise a "considerable" amount of money. The website said the campaign had already amassed millions of views.

This isn’t the first time the porn site has tried to raise awareness for breast cancer. Earlier this year, the website offered free breast exams for women from its “Save the Boobs” bus in New York.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and affiliated events had raised more than $1.4 billion as of 2010, the company says.

This is unbelievable. Porn is not a crime, so why would it be immoral to accept money from them? It is absolutely terrible that Komen is putting their pride before the health of those inflicted with breast cancer. This is such a slap in the face to those currently suffering. "Oh I'm sorry, but their money wasn't good enough. You don't want to become healthy because of a donation from THEM. We're going to find you some better money. Hang tight."

Well when I lived in AZ the women's prison had made the paper they had inmates that were working for pennies on the dollar they donated to Komen, They were refused also so the American Cancer Society came out help them do a walk and took their money and now hold support groups for the women in prison that have cancer and going through treatment some of them died from Cancer but at least someone was there and thought they were worth supporting.. I think Komen has become more of a upper crust type of non profit for its for women, like the country club types, must be nice to pick and chose who to get money from, I guess when you don't need it then maybe there are some people who could use the money for their surgery. To me money is money it spends just any as well no matter where it comes from if it saves someone then isn't that the point.

I'm sorry ladies, but we here at the Susan B Komen Foundation feel breast cancer is not important enough that we would accept donations from a porn site. Therefore, suffer with your disease until we can raise "clean" money. Perception is everything!

Sadly, Komen is not allocating the money they raise to research. There are some great pieces that have been written (NYMagazine and others) that explain the pink charade in great detail. Giving them more money isn't the answer; there are better BC orgs out there that are focused on research and allocate +90% of money raised to research. Komen allocates less than 15% (despite their claims that it is different at the local level --- it's a Ponzi scheme that would make Madoff blush). BCRF, Army of Women, Breast Cancer Action .... these are all stellar organizations that have ethics and transparency.

I would think women dying of breast cancer wouldn't give a @!$%# WHERE the money for their cure came from.

That would be a fair statement if you understood how Komen has been allocating the money they raise. Aside from their Planned Parenthood fiasco, that is a HUGE issue people are only now becoming aware of. TOS of this site likely bans links, but Google "Komen By the Numbers" and you can read a very interesting piece on where the money is going ... less than 15% (and even less to metastatic disease which is what women die from). The rest all goes to 'awareness' and turning the world pink. Women suffering from BC (and the public) have been duped by this sham for years.

Does anybody really believe we will have a "cure" for breast cancer or any other cancer for that matter? Helll no! Cancer makes too much money for doctors, cancer clinics, radiologists, etc.

But I applaud the Komen Foundation for not taking money from the porn industry which has been a big part of the moral decay of our country.

Having a daughter who died from breast cancer at a young age, I don't care how they get the money to find the cure, all I care about is that they get the money and find the cure.

The one thing we do know and they know is that without money they won't find the cure.

If Komen was abiding by their fiduciary responsibility as a non-profit, they would be allocating more than 15% per dollar to research (fyi, even less goes towards metastatic disease). Very sorry about your daughter; I have lost two friends since my diagnosis 3 years ago and two others currently have mets. Komen has pulled the pink wool over our eyes for too long. Giving them more money to squander on staging grand awareness events (and their massive overhead) isn't going to find a cure to this horrible disease.

I'm not getting where all of this outrage is coming from. They chose not to accept money from legalized prostitution. That's Komen's right. There are other organizations that I'm sure will take the money, which is their right too.

It's amazing how many people become hysterical whenever they notice someone is standing up for a moral principle. Almosts appears that the hysterical people's (more superior) moral principles are offended. Lol - the great morality of the anti-morality squad.
