A pornographic website that said it launched a fundraising effort for and was adamantly rejected by Susan G. Komen for the Cure still wants to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The porn site said in a press release that it is now looking for a new charity for its “Save the Boobs” campaign throughout October.
The adult website said it would donate 1 cent for every 30 views of certain videos featuring breasts during October.
The website initially targeted the campaign at Susan G. Komen for the Cure, saying that “the more boobs that are viewed, the more money that will be showered upon the [Foundation].”

But the Dallas-based organization said Wednesday that it was aware of the campaign and wanted nothing to do with it. “We are not a partner, not accepting donations, and have asked them to stop using our name,” Komen said.
Now the website is searching for a new organization, the porn site said Thursday, to receive a “significant” amount of money.
“Unfortunately we had to change our targeted beneficiary,” a site spokesman told NBC News.
The site specified that “any charitable entities related to breast cancer research or awareness should submit their interest” to the website. One charity will be chosen and announced in the coming days.
The site said in its press release that it attracts 70 million to 90 million clicks per month and could raise a "considerable" amount of money. The website said the campaign had already amassed millions of views.

This isn’t the first time the porn site has tried to raise awareness for breast cancer. Earlier this year, the website offered free breast exams for women from its “Save the Boobs” bus in New York.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and affiliated events had raised more than $1.4 billion as of 2010, the company says.

I have mixed feelings about this. My wife is a breast cancer survivor, and I've done Komen fundraisers. I was pizzed when they tried to cut off Planned Parenthood, but they backed down under (completely proper) public pressure on that. They raise more money for breast cancer work than any organization on earth, and they are under constant political pressures. I have nothing against (legal) porn (not that I'd ever look at it, mind you :) ), but I think pornhub was probably doing this as a publicity stunt for themselves; and even if not, Komen had to ask themselves what kind of reaction they would have to deal with once the news broke about the pornhub "fundraiser". Many organizations refuse money from groups or individuals they wish not to be associated with; it's perfectly fine to do so. And they always have to ask themselves, will the publicity around accepting it hurt worse than the loss from turning it down (and vice versa). Mixed feelings, but I can support the decision here.
J. Mark- First of all, best wishes to you and your wife. Secondly, you're absolutely right. Susan G Komen is a foundation that (largely) serves women. I know there are males with breast cancer, but I'm speaking now of the majority. Much of pornography is detrimental to women. It objectifies, it degrades, it misleads men with the idea that women will and should always be "up for" sex. It also puts out an image of what a "sexy" woman should (and thereby, should not) look like (skinny, fake breasts, perfectly trimmed...areas). SGK can't be an institution designed to help and champion (again, largely) women while taking money from a group that does the exact opposite.
Allielcea, porn is detrimental to women...really...so is breast cancer! So is the government! J Mark, money is going to find a cure...I wouldn't turn down money that is being offered to be used to find a cure...there is no untarnished money. There are no untarnished people...after all, we are all human and its not like they are promoting child porn (I also don't access porn but I also don't access movies that blow up people and murder women).
Alli, do you watch prime time tv? Everything on shows women as victims of crimes committed by mentally ill people. That is determental to women, its degrading and its primetime! Not alot of difference, that isn't empowering to women. Its certainly detramental to people that are bi-polar. I know alot of bi-polar people that don't go out and rape women and murder women. So lets get real here, do you want to champion women or do you want to get rid of cancer, If you want to champion women get that primetime crap off of tv then start working on internet porn sites!!
Donna- You're right, there are terrible images of women everywhere and I'm not any more "for" them than I am for porn. The SGK is neither the first nor the last charity to deny donations from a donor with contrasting goals and ideologies.
But they will take money from a company that aborts an awful lot of African American babies every year ?
J Penncille...you are totally right! They support the killing of innocent baby girls...of all races..
I don't think it matters what race that a baby is. A baby's death is a horrible thing. Shame on you for saying that race matters.
Hey Komen Foundation!!! Quit being a boob and take the money!!!!!!
I guess beggars CAN be choosers after all...
So instead of a woman's issue like Breast Cancer give the money to a mans issue like prostate cancer.. shi*, ill bet they will take it.
IDIOTS! If the money comes from a legal source, then take it and say thank you! With Romney wanting to cut all spending to women's health, people better wake up! Turning down "dirty porn money" donated to a breast cancer fund is like Feed the Children turning down money from Mac D's or Burger King because it's not healthy! Get off your right wing horse!!!!!
This is stupid. They should take the money.
Here's the problem....it's fine to say, "How can Komen be a snob about where the money came from if they're trying to save lives?" But the flip side of the coin is, "Why is Pornhub offering all this money contingent on the number of boobs shown?"
Obviously, the more mastectomies there are the fewer boobs available for Pornhub's use. So naturally, Pornhub would be interested in saving boobs.
To promote themselves by saying the important thing is helping their "sisters find a cure" is disingenuous.
The truth is, none of us should even be aware of this story. If Pornhub had a true interest in saving boobs for boobs' sake and saving lives, they would have simply contacted Komen and said, "Here's the money. Take it. Please don't use our name. No need for publicity. No one need know you've accepted anything from us." Period.
I'd like to hear from cancer patients.
Uh its a mutually beneficial drive. They get donations while pornhub gets more attention. Which leads to more donations and so on... EVERYONE WINS HERE
Hey...Porn money spends just like cheapass pink chinese-made crap money
Porn money spends just like cheapass chinese-made pink crap money does...
I will never donate to kormen or buy any of their pink crap during this month as they are supportive of dismantling planned parenthood. All of the money they get anyway does not all go to breast cancer. They are a scam. I will give to other cancer organizations
who gives a flying F*... if i'm dying and money might help... money please and thank you!
If Komen is anti-porn, then I'm anti-Komen.
I'm confused. I thought they supported womens right to choose (aren't they still affiliated with Planned Parenthood?). If that's the case, why aren't they okay with a womens right to choose to be in porn?
First, though there may be some women who really do, free and clear, choose to do porn, much of it isn't much of a choice. Many women "choose" to do porn out of financial necessity and then stay in for the same reason. They also get addicted to drugs, keeping them in a constant state of dependance upon their "managers" who are also often their dealers. Not to mention, the societal backlash of pornography upon women in general- degredation, objectification, and expectation.
I won't go further into it, but I suggest you read "I Am Jennie" by Jennie Ketcham. She was formerly a porn star who enjoyed the porn lifestyle. Through rehab, though, she realized all of the horrible reasons she had gone to that lifestyle and stayed in it. She was hiding from past pain and seeking acceptance, which she only found once she realized what she was doing and stopped.
So I guess what I'm saying is that, though some women "choose" to do porn, I believe most aren't in it simply because they think it's a fun thing to do. There are healthier ways for a woman to express her sexuality.
Same reason prostitution is illegal. Its ok as long as the choice doesnt interfere with feminist goals.
If prostitution was legal, a man could rape a woman, throw fifty bucks at her, and have an ironclad defense. Plus, many of the reasons I listed above about the porn industry hold true for prostitution. It's not REALLY a choice.
Also- just to be clear in case this comes up- if ANY woman- in prostition, porn, or at the next party you go to- is drunk or high, her ability to consent is gone, so it's rape. This also applies to men, who get raped as well.
What a ridiculously false and irresponsible statement. Unless you are one of the teapartiers trying to re-define rape. Statements like that make you whole posts less than credible.
corona- I'm sorry, "ironclad" was probably not needed. But he WOULD have a defense and it could easily turn into a he said/she said under the right circumstances. I didn't mean to imply that this would "work" in EVERY rape case. But there would certainly be a wider opportunity for rapists. You're right, I stated it as a blanket and I didn't mean to. I simply meant to convey one potential problem.

Do you really believe that...rape is an act of violence and power! Have you ever been raped...if not, do NOT speak on the subject!
I have been reading some of your posts, just because you read a book about a women that "use" to be in the business does not mean that book is how all women in the business feel...if you read an autobiography about Pres Washington, that doesn't mean he speaks for all presidents and their thoughts and feelings?
You talk of SGK champion women and thats why they shouldn't take money from a porn site. SGK does not speak for women. Their foundation collects donations for breast cancer research and makes their executives a hell of alot of money!!
Donna- I understand rape is an act of violence and power. How does anything I said contradict that? Also, I'm very much a believer in speaking about anything you're passionate about. Not that it's any of your business but no, thankfully, I've never been raped. I would never say that "I know how it feels." However, I don't see why I, a woman with a deep interest in women's issues and therefore quite a bit of knowledge on the subject, should not be allowed to speak on rape. Are you just upset with ME or do you think that NO ONE who hasn't been raped should speak about rape? Because if that's the case, rape, which is already BARELY talked about in the press, is incredibly underreported and underprosecuted, will get even LESS attention.
Like I said, some women MAY really truly choose to be in porn. I did not say that this one woman's story is a representation of EVERY woman in porn. Just that it's a good example of how some can believe that they are happy in their choices when really they've been bullied and coerced into a lifestyle.
There's a comment on the next page from a person called "lucky." This person accurately described why MANY charirites do not take money from ideologically opposing donors.
Lol most rape cases end up a he said she said. Good news for your side is that most of the time a women is just taken at her word.
Re; bethnyc Wome love their breasts, because they are a part of human sexuality and there fore incorporated in the act of sex, or love making if that makes it better for you. I am pretty sure that women suffering from BC could gove a crap WHERE the money comes from if it will help cure, prevent or increase BC awareness. Certainly your point about breast cancer treatmen not being sexy is valid, but many women find nothing sexy about the loss of one or both of their breasts. PS Porno is simply filming and distributing the very same things consenting adults have been doing since the beginning of time. In SOME cases it has been determined that the people most vocal against porn have the best stash......
If I donate to any organization, I always check their rating at charitynavigator.org. Only organizations with 5 stars get my money. The Koman Foundation only gets 4 stars and 25 cents on every dollar goes to administrative expenses. There are foundations that get 5 stars and you can get a lot of information on them at the charitynavigator website.
More BS. For those of you who Komen is a Saint & the American Cancer Society is filled with great intentions - well, you're wrong. The heads of those organizations - & many others like them - make millions every year for their own pockets. At least the boob walks have done something tho - many women who would've died from breast cancer years ago now have viable treatments available. Thanks to being AWARE & by 'donations'.
But, as a female fighting a rare cancer no one knows how to treat, it'd be nice to have funding, as well. My 3-year battle has taught me to be cynical about most of these organizations. We have probably the best minds in this country & STILL not enough viable treatments or cures? Know why? Simple - there's too much $$$ to be made in cancer. 15K PER TREATMENT is not an amount they are willing to lose. (# treatments I've had to date = 16 - or $240,000.)
I'd GLADLY accept $$$ from a "porn" group, if I could be cured. What's the difference anyway? Half the population shows their butts & boobs in public nowadays.
Kent, Kent, Kent...people walk for "The Cure" donate to "the Cure"...they aren't donating their time and money to promote large salaries. Some people are beginning to "rethink" their donations of their time and money because we are finding that SGK Foundation is becoming rather picky on where their money is coming from and who they are giving it to. SGK Foundation is big business...not many other "companies" have made the kind of money (billions)in such a short time.
Also, aids is not a homsexual desease, it effects human beings from all walks of life with various sexual backgrounds. Brest cancer effects all human beings (even those that work in the porn industry). Kent, there is a difference between adult porn sites and child pornography sites. I do not indulge in accessing porn sites (not my style) but I will not condemn them either. A child doesn't get to make a choice (or an informed choice), an adult does.
It is very clear that SGK Foundation has become a very self rightous group...they don't want to be "tarnished" by another company that does not hold the same values ... but guess what...this porn sites money is just as green as SGK's and it can buy the same things for the same price that SGK can...I applaud them for wanting to give to breast cancer.
I may not like porn, but I sure as hell hate cancer. Take the money and put it to good use, Komen, because porn stars can get breast cancer, too.
I can understand and sympathize with the Susan G. Komen Foundation wanting to distance themselves from the porn industry... but I would suggest they still take the money!
Mormon's are not Christians.
When Christ returns ALL will know it and bow down not just mr. smith.
O Im sorry was breast cancer cured? Do you no longer need money? This is rediculous. Take the money, anyone who gets on your case for taking donations is insane.
So Komen won't partner with a porn site, but will partner with baby killers at PLANNED PARENTHOOD. Sad statement on Breast Cancer Awareness.
Should a child advocacy group accept a very public donation from Jerry Sandusky? Of COURSE not! People would be outraged, as it would obviously be nothing but a PR move for him. A group that touts certain goals (helping women- I know men get breast cancer, but women are the majority) cannot publically accept funding from a group/person/etc. that specifically goes against those goals. If the company would like to make an anonymous donation, I'm sure SGK would be glad to accept. This goes for most charities and organizations, not just SGK.
how does porn goes against breast? porn cannot exist without good breasts and that's the real truth.
Porn goes agaisnt women, not breasts.
but porn cannot exist without women.... and how many women would have been unemployed otherwise without porn.... have you thought of that.
And how many women have been harrassed or raped because of the depiction of women in porn? Have you thought of that?
but such anecdotal accusation is unproven and exists only in your mind. your theory is that porn is causing rape, and how is this true? please prove it instead of imagining it.
Well, for starters, there's all the men who use their porn addictions as a rape defense...
And how many succeed with THAT DEFENSE? 0
...and in other news a homeless person today turned down a handout from a businessman because he didn't believe in his shallow, capitalist way of life.
So much for a cure above all else.
