Bachelor sues club after stripper's rough pole dance bursts his bladder

A Pennsylvania man is suing a strip club after a rough pole dance ruptured his bladder during his bachelor party.

A lawsuit filed last week says that in late November 2010 Patrick Gallagher, a resident of Lansdale, Pa., had been invited to lie on the stage at the Penthouse Club in Port Richmond, Pa., as part of its “Bachelor’s Package.”

That’s when one dancer shimmied up the pole, and “from a great height, she launched herself down onto his abdomen” with such force that she ruptured his bladder, Gallagher’s attorney Neil Murray told the Philadelphia Daily News.

The suit said the move resulted in severe pain for Gallagher that did not subside by the next morning. He went to the emergency room, and doctors discovered he had internal bleeding and a ruptured bladder that required surgery to correct.

Murray said that Gallagher also suffered nerve damage in his back and hip, the Daily News reported.

The lawsuit accuses the club of negligence and seeks at least $50,000 for medical costs, pain, humiliation and mental anguish.

Gallagher’s lawsuit is one of several filed in recent years against the club, according to court records. The other lawsuits allege a beating by bouncers, a slip-and-fall injury, overserving of alcohol and the unauthorized use of a woman’s photographs in club advertisements.

Seven dancers and a manager at the club were also arrested last November on prostitution charges.

Since when is getting injured at a place of business the victim's fault?

You are so right! I don't care why the guy was there, he should not have been injured. I could understand if he was unruly and accidentally injured by a bouncer but being jumped on by a dancer is a little out of that concept.

At $50K, he certainly isn't asking for much. After attorney's fees, he'll have just enough to pay for bills and any missed time at work(assuming the guy has a job, of course).

I don't believe that in this day and age, there is a woman who still think it's not okay for her fiance to go to a strip club for his bachelor party. Women certainly attend male reviews, so what's the difference? If he was injured by the stripper, then the club at least should pay his medical bills. While no man goes into a strip club expecting to come out unscathed, I don't believe a man expects to be injured either. I cannot imagine why this man would make up this story anyway. The facts are the facts. Bladders don't just rupture like that. Even rough sex wouldn't have that effect. He deserves compensation and his fiance, if she feels the need to punish him, can consider him punished after all this.

I'm from the other side. I don't know anyone who has - male or female. We just assume if you are engaged that phase is over. Not conservative, just realistic.

Plus if you have been cheated on strip clubs can sting like hell. Just not a good mix.

I hope someone got this on video because if it is half as funny as I imagine it is, it would be viral.

The lawsuit is viable actually, but hillarious just the same.

Women can be dangerous (especially professional strippers) and never underestimate anyone, kids :)

Some of those girls should have their body's registered as "lethal weapons" :)

If a man really loves his fiance, he wouldn't do sexually-oriented activities with another woman anyway.

the strip club should sue him for being an obnoxious drunk and for what i am sure was a lued and disgusting dance. He needs to take responsiblity for his actions, the club nor the pole did anything wrong, this moron did.

New American occupation, sue for stupid, guess the courts will have to build more rooms faster than the prisons and jails. Her landing caused him physical suffering, one could only hope his capacity to add more DNA to the world's gene pool was eradicated. Wonder if the court and jury are going to ask for a onsite reenactment?

You can't make up the busted bladder. He had 24 hr before he would of been dead. Peritonitis would of occurred and poisoned his system. He would of been dead. How it happened may be another thing. His witnesses were I am sure hiss drunken buddies. That will make for a interesting trial. I guess he should of emptied his bladder of the beer before playing catch the pole dancer.

This guy's law suit includes claims for " humiliation and mental anguish " are you kidding me.

I had the same kind of party in the early 70's in South Florida and yes I was humiliated and

I loved it. Now in retrospect what's the statute of limitations for strip club humiliation damages.

This guy is a joke and the law suit is a joke. Sorry he got hurt but flat on your back on the strip

club stage was he just resting or a participant.

You had a stripper jump down on you from a pole and rupture your bladder? That's a weird thing to love.

                            mnweir,

"Mental pain and anguish" -- Try explaining to your boss, girlfriend, parents and family, and doctors how your injury occurred. Then live with the snide looks and petty jokes from all of the above (and yes, from your nurses and attendents). And suing just expanded the realm of ridicule to most of the world's populace.

Of course this will be forgotten, as soon as someone does something even more stupid.

I am just saying, we must talk safety here, if he would have had his pole up as she was coming down hers, this would have not happened. Nobody is saying how much this dancer weighed. Climbing the pole requires strength, so it does not rule out that she might have weighed at least 150 plus. Who needs comedy when real life is full of it. If this guy had any balls , he would not have filed a law suit in the first place.

You know in politics, there is a big deal made of regulations and how they restrict business. I would bet that most consumer based business. Like strip clubs, supermarkets, restaurants must all have law suits against ongoing all the time. I am sure there is a big enough population of people who slip, fall, gets hit by something will sue. Your in a supermarket parking lot and you are backed into by a car. Sue the supermarket! In this case I would think that he is partially at fault after all how many people in their right mind would lay under a person hanging directly above them without a restraints to protect them. Of course throw in that it is a woman and naked then it must be ok.

This guy should not be getting married to a women because he is probably a homo. If he was able to control his pole and have her land on the right pole he would have anything happen to him. If he was not so excited about being in a strip club he would not have burst his bladder.

These dancers are professionals and know what to do. How they move their bodies are a work of art. After work the guys to to these fine establishments to have a few beers, look at hot babes, and just relax after another hard day at work.

Actually impact isn't even required. One legend surrounding the death of Tyco Brahe, Danish astronomer and nobleman, was that he sat so long at a banquet table that his bladder either herniated or burst. He died after 11 days of considerable pain. At the time, it was impolite to excuse oneself from the table, for any reason.

I'm thinking more about the time frame issue here. This is 2012, this happened in 2010? And he just NOW decides to try and get paid. I'm thinking more along the lines of him noticing the other lawsuits and now, since it's been so long, even if the injuries were real, it would be hard to disprove when and where they happened so he thinks he may as well cash in.

Some Lawsuits take years to get to court. Look at the criminal cases. The accused is in no hurry to go to jail or pay up so they have lawyers drag it out as long as possible. He of could easily filed a suit from 2010 and it still not hit the court until this year. Look at the creepy Sandusky case..how long did it take him to finally get convicted and he just now got sentenced!
