This man committed no crime. Yes, he had an affair, but it's something like 55% of all people in relationships ADMIT to affairs. Why suspend him in the first place? There is nothing in his job description about his personal life. No one kicked Clinton out of office and honestly, when people called for his impeachment, I couldn't believe it. I live near Detroit. I agree with Owen for the most part. However, the issue isn't so much the affair as the abuse of power. If he was just having an affair (outside of work) then that is between him and his family. However, this person was internal affairs. If I recall she also had a history of this. I take issue that she gets to keep her job in internal affairs and the chief gets fired. She was in it for advancement and when she didn't get what she wanted she ratted on him. I think she should be just as much at fault.
