Stun gun used on pizza deliveryman leads to jail instead of food

A Daytona Beach man used a stun gun on a Papa John’s deliveryman in a failed attempt to grab his pizzas, police said.

Volusia County Corrections

Christopher Collins

Christopher Collins, 19, faces a charge of armed robbery with a weapon for the Monday night incident, Daytona Beach Police said in an arrest affidavit.

The Papa John’s employee went to deliver two pies to a unit at 525 N. Halifax Avenue that was dark, but Collins eventually met him outside. He asked what the total was, the deliveryman said $26.09, and Collins went back toward the unit before returning seconds later, police said.

Collins then again asked “How much?,” the deliveryman took out a small flashlight to illuminate the receipt, and Collins shocked him in the stomach with a stun gun, according to police.

He tried to grab the pizzas, but the Papa John’s employee forcefully pulled them from Collins, who ran west toward the river, police said.

They said they learned that the same phone number had made pizza orders previously at an apartment at 100 Seabreeze Blvd. As officers stood in the hallway, they heard several people talking inside the apartment, with one saying, “I tried to get the pizza but he wouldn’t give it up,” police said.

They found Collins and his two brothers inside, and after the victim identified Collins as the man who tried to rob him, Collins admitted that he committed the robbery attempt, according to police.

He “stated that he was hungry and was just trying to rob the pizza guy of the pizza,” police reported.

Collins said he threw the stun gun in the river, but police found a stun gun inside the apartment, they said.

It was not immediately known whether Collins has an attorney. He was being held in custody on Wednesday, according to online Volusia County Corrections records.

Pizza delivery person.... gotta be one of the riskiest jobs on earth (and lowest paying). My admiration goes out to anyone who does this kind of work. Sometimes, there's no choice.... gotta make ends meet somehow. Better way to earn a living than this idiot with the stun gun.

Unless he comes to senses, repents, and gets saved. Without that, the future is bleak indeed.

@Custom1911, you are just as much of a thief as those that allegedly steal from people in the guise of religion anyway. They call people like you atheists, agnostics, humanists, secular humanists, hedonists, naturalists, evolutionists, Big Bang Believers, and a plethora of other names. Yes, the anti-religious people are just as guilty of promoting religion but the only differences between the religious crowd and the anti-religious crowd are that they hide it better than they do, they can con people better than they do, and they have the power of the politicians and the corporations at their beck and call so that they can take out the competition in a myriad of ways. The Who said it best in the song called "Won't Get Fooled Again," "Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss."

Really, truth(?)teller? Just who am I stealing from? I work 40-65 hours a week, donate $ to homeless shelters and other charities, help anyone I'm capable of helping, take no gov't handouts, pay my taxes, and do whatever I can to not have a negative impact on the earth. Not sure how you can get stealing out of that. Have a nice day.

Don't take it serious, Robfin. "Its Bush's fault" is now recognized as an American punchline as in:

Why did the chicken cross the road? Its Bush's fault. Or as applied by Henny Youngman:

Take my wife....Please. Its Bush's fault.

"its Bush's fault" replaced the prior national punchline, "Michael Jackson".

Actually, that could be worse than many think. My 19 year old nephew delivers pizza while he is in college. He has a heart defect and it would more than likely kill him if he was shocked. That really scares me now.

Hiyas, Jazmine77. You're cute. I'm sorry about your cousin. I hope that he get the money that he needs to get some heart surgery. I know what it's like to have people in my family that have defects. My grandnephew is asthmatic and there's not a day that goes by without me wondering about the same things as you do about your cousin. I also hope that he stays safe on the job that he has, too.

I always assumed Friday night was fish night in prison. "New Fish" on the block. Just think what the cons working in the kitchen do to those pizzas before serving them. Nasty.

In reference to having the most fun while driving a car we have all heard the saying "Drive it like it's stolen".

Is it the same for Pizza? Does it taste better?

TYPICAL AFRICAN AMERICAN BEHAVIOR! Go ahead and be offended, but its part of the culture of that demographic. Deny reality to be PC, but it doesnt change the harsh fact that no other demographic is as violent or RACIST
