Bullet-riddled corpse unnoticed for hours in running car in Connecticut

Bloodied and riddled with bullets, a man’s body sat slumped over for hours in a parked car -- its engine running and windshield wipers flapping long after the rain stopped -- as passersby, including school children, came and went throughout the day, Bridgeport police said Friday.

Police on patrol found the man's body at about 6 p.m. Wednesday in the residential North End neighborhood called Sunshine Circle, according to The Connecticut Post.

"They banged on the window and got no response," Detective Keith Bryant, a police spokesman, told the Post. "He was slumped over the wheel."

Neighbors told police they heard gunshots at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, but no one reported a shooting. Some residents say they saw the car as early as 9 a.m., but little else.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead, finding multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, police said. Detectives said they have no motive. Police said the victim has not been positively identified and planned to release his name later Friday.

Police said the Nissan Maxima’s darkly tinted windows obscured the man’s body from view, but Bryant said someone could have reported the gunshots earlier in the day. Residents of the neighborhood near a public housing complex "have become numb to unusual noises, even gunshots, and they probably didn't react to it at all. And that's not good," Bryant told the Post.

Only a rusty fence separates the neighborhood from an area where gunfire is commonplace, the Post reported, and residents have been worried about the increase in drug activity.

Councilman Warren Blunt, who represents the city’s 135th District, has promised residents he'd fight to curtail the drug-related violence by working with police to create a surveillance plan and increase patrols, according to the Post.

"It's an ongoing struggle," Blunt told the Post.

There have been 20 homicides in Bridgeport so far this year, matching the total number for all of 2011, according to the Post.

In May, 20-year-old Kaqwan Glenn was fatally shot where Wednesday’s gunshot victim was found in the parked car, police said.

right because everyone just hangs out on facebook with their fake internet friends posting updates on their useless and pathetically boring lives. that and the fact that these sub humans kill each other every day despite the govt giving them every opportunity imaginable to stay in school and make something of themselves. they would rather sell dope and buy basketball shoes.

Why would they want to change? The govt gives them phones, food, and medical. Nobody changes unless forced to!!! As long as they vote "D" the govt is happy to use them.

for those who are wondering, there is an entire culture in the projects, ghettos or whatever you want to call them of "I didn't see nothing". Punk a$$e$ wear shirts around with sayings about "don't snitch, the life you save may be your own" and "if you see the cops, warna brotha". The children that live in these gang infested areas are told that if they aren't with the gang, they damn sure better not see anything.

This coupled with alcoholism, drug addiction, whoring, pimping, theft, etc give a person a pretty grim outlook. It isn't that people can't get out of this, or don't have the opportunity, they don't want to leave it. phuck if I know why

I know this will not be a popular post, but I think it's time to build more prisons...lots more of them and stop being so lenient. Until we take criminals off the streets, this sort of thing will continue to escalate and go on and on. Yes, it will be expensive but we've got to do something to rid our towns and cities of scum.

Apparently the city needs to get rid of the public housing complex nearby. If it was gone, perhaps some kid with an iPad and a Netflix subscription would have noticed him sooner!

        Reply#35 - Fri Oct 12, 2012 3:28 PM EDT

Kids in Bridgeport can't afford Ipads or Netflix unless they steal them. It's a "don't ask, don't snitch" kind of town.

If they won't "snitch" and won't "tell", then they deserve what they get. When people live without handling the bad, they just live in their h*&ll. This shouldn't happen in America, but it does now because you have lackadaisical people who will live in a "don't ask, don't tell" situation. They need to clean up their minds, their souls, and their neighborhood.

You don't have to have electronics to live in a safe neighborhood. I grew up when there were no electronics. Grow up! Don't excuse bad behavior because they don't have electronics. Wah, wah, they can only have if they steal them. Great attitude! They aren't "poor babies" if they don't have electronics.

In most cities in America there are places that people cannot go. What is needed is a thorough clean up of these area's. Politcal correctness and racial profiling be damned. Time to take America back from the goons and thugs and restore it to all who live or travel there.

What about reporting terrorist threats as soon as you see something suspicious. This might not be a terrorist threat any more, but it sure is suspicious!

            Reply#40 - Fri Oct 12, 2012 3:59 PM EDT

So wait, people heard gunshots but no one reported it? I understand it's 'at a place where gunfire is common', but at the same time you can't complain about the increase in violence if you can't even be bothered to call the police when you HEAR gunfire. I'm glad the kids didn't notice, but it's a little disturbing that no one else did nor did they care to call in a problem when it occurred.

Obviously, they really don't care about anyone or anything. They think it is up to others to fix things for them. So, they live in an awful place. They don't care about their kids, they care about nothing. So, I guess they deserve to have violence and craziness in their neighborhood. This shouldn't happen in America. But, if we now have uncaring people, what can we expect?

Common Sense and personal responsibility are becoming a lost art. People shouldn't complain things are one way when they do absolutely nothing to either fix or prevent it, and yet that's exactly what they do. "It's everyone else's fault but mine for not calling the cops to report a shooting even though I think the area is becoming too violent. I just don't have the time (read desire) to do anything about it so everyone else should."

Wow! A neighborhood like that should not exist here in America. How oblivious are these people? If they don't care, I guess they just don't care. People noticed the car - did nothing. People heard shots - did nothing. What a sorry bunch of people. I suppose they will rant and rave at the police though. They do nothing, so they are nothing, so they live in an awful place. What is wrong with these people? This is what is meant by people who don't care enough to fix their lives, but expect others to "take care of them." That is NOT what America is about!

Hey folks don't get so worked up over nothing. The nissan maxima was in a auto smog service bay, naturally the cars are left running for the smog inspection to complete and pass. Trouble is the service station attendant left for the day and there was nobody to replace him, till next day. Cases like these happens across the country every day, nothing unusual, until the hommies put a dead body inside. So what if the car was riddled with gun shots, tape and bondo will cover everything, no big deal. As Sgt Shultz used to say: "I SEE NOTHING" "I HEAR NOTHING"
