Secret Service agent found drunk in street after Obama visit, Miami police say

MIAMI -- A Secret Service agent was arrested for disorderly intoxication in Miami early Friday after he was found passed out on a street hours after President Barack Obama left town, police said.

Aaron Francis Engler was arrested at 7 a.m. and also faces a charge of  resisting arrest without violence, according to Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes.

Engler was later released to members of the Secret Service's Miami Field Office, Reyes said. Officials at the office didn't immediately respond to calls for comment.

According to an arrest report, an officer spotted Engler lying down on the northeast corner of Southeast 7th Street and Brickell Avenue.

When the officer approached the agent, he asked if he was ok and got no response, the report said. The officer was able to get Engler's attention and asked him to get off the ground but he refused, the report said.

The officer helped Engler get up, but he was having trouble standing. When the officer walked Engler to his patrol car, he saw the agent had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath, the report said.

"The defendant started arguing with me and throwing his arms around while I was conducting a pat down," the officer noted in the report.

According to the report, motorists began stopping to watch as the officer told Engler to stop moving his arms around as he tried to handcuff him.

At one point, Engler hit the officer's face and tensed his arm, pulling it away and not letting the officer handcuff him.

The officer directed Engler to the ground and tried to handcuff him again, but the agent tensed his arms again and pulled away.

During the struggle, Engler turned himself on his back and hit the officer's chin with his open left hand, the report said.

The officer called for backup and two other officers arrived and were able to handcuff Engler, the report said.

The incident happened just hours after President Obama's visit to South Florida, where he attended a rally at the University of Miami and a fundraiser at the JW Marriott Marquis.

That figures! Looks like Obama Bin Laden needs all the help he can get to win the next election, but when no excuses come to mind, he can always throw the blame on the inefficiency of the agencies tasked with bringing this country together. Obama has obviously had it in for the Secret Service since day one, and I for one find it hard to to believe that a Secret Service agent was found on the streets drunk out of his mind, without some help from say, Homeland Security, who probably orchestrated the entire setup. I stand behind the Secret Service, no matter how bad the Obama Regime is trying to make them out to be, so he can clean house. He's been cleaning house starting with the Secret Service since the very beginning with the Sex Scandal, another set up! It's time the rest of America look at all the hidden facts, the things they don't want you to question, before naturally assuming our agents are crooked. This is a blatant set up, and I will continue to stand by those words till heck freezes over!

I say, punish Obama instead, because based on all the trouble with the Secret Service, Obama has not been far behind, he's either coming, or going some where, where trouble isn't far behind. That kid looks really too young to be a Secret Service, but I don't know how they train em. Don't they have to go through SARS, like the FBI, that's pretty brutal, and looking at the photo, he looks too young to go through all that. Could be a CIA thing... It wouldn't surprise me a bit! To much interagency fighting now days, over whose the most important, and the most powerful. Does the Secret Service really hire kids that young to guard the President? He must be one heck of a soldier then, because they don't let anyone in the Secret Service, without extensive training. Which is why I know all this is a scandal!

If the agent is black, he is innocent. If he is white, he is guilty. But if the SS is as diligent as the State Department is in providing security for the people it is responsible for... well...we can live with that. It is just a bump in the road if, due to negligence, some terrorist gets to Obama.

Well hell if I had to protect a guy like Obama, I would get drunk afterwards too. Isn't it funny that a lot of agents are getting into trouble from this and hookers while on his watch. Lets see spend time with hookers or protect what's his name. I think I will take the hooker any time of the day or night.

Here's something that must be said that's been avoided for a long time!

All of our courts from low to high level state that >>> "ALL" law enforcement officers are a special entity "ALL OTHER CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY" and will be treated as such no matter what wrongful abuse the officer states or act's toward our citizens > They WILL BE PROTECTED UNDER THE COURTS!

An officer has been given special training by police academies that has been ruled (invalueable) - Therefore once given their badge they are immune from any and all act's of criminal activities and prosecution no matter how severe!

I totally disagree!!! If anything, I believe a sworn officer should be held > ULTIMATELY ACCOUNTABLE for their actions! and should be setting an > EXAMPLE for ALL CITIZENS!

I also strongly believe if a sworn officer is knowingly and willfully abusing that power of authority and is caught! should be immediately prosecuted to the fullest extent of our laws and inprisoned double for what a citizen would receive!

Then I believe we'd see better officers within our society as a whole!

Rarely to we see law enforcement held accountable for the wrong they do. The only time we do is when their caught red handed and then given minimal punishment to nothing "OR" > their voted out by their fellow "good ole boy's club of their own!

These officers now knowing they were given that badge to believe they can do or get away with anything they want including wilfull abuse is why most are out of control in society today!

I'd sure like to see opinions and your thoughts to this...

That must be some pretty good stuff. I wonder if Obama is the first President to have a brewery at the White House? I know Obama was really slaming the beers at the Iowa State Fair.

These are the stupid out of control morons pretecting the President of these United States. Good on the local law enforcement to hold this individual to our standards. He needs to be fired and never work in Law enforcement again.

Apparently Obama has a serious morale and or respect problem among his SS team as the Colombian escort fiasco has shown. The Salahi Security failure at the White House State Dinner function also indicated another meltdown of SS performance or non performance. This couple as some of you may recall managed to convince not only security but Michele Obama's Public Relations assistant to let them into one of the most coveted functions in the White House. The risk to the the highest level dignitaries was unprecedented.

Never has a President's security team (SS) screwed up as much this Prez's has and probably indicates a serious problem within. There's still more to come yet as this fraud of a Prez's world is crumbling around him including Biden's disaster of an explanation to the Benghazi attack during the debate.

Hillary may in danger of having to fall on the sword for him.

--And, why is that news, I am sure he was sent to jail for disorderly, like anyone else, and of course fired, and he can NEVER get a gun permit--RIGHT, or should we preserve his killer rights?

man those ss men know how to party! this is why we carry, we can only depend on ourselves to protect us.

the govt is stupid on so many levels and they want more power? i think not. BIG govt means waste, less freedom,

                          and more stupidity in washington!

It's not Obama's fault and the guy was obviously off duty. I just wonder how they claim he was arrested Without violence when he actually Hit the Officer, anyone else would have suffered a Much rougher arrest and treatment.

The article fails to be specific, this individual was not an "agent" but a member of their uniformed division, in other words a regular police officer/security guard who happens to work for the secret service, not an agent responsible for the presidents safety or for even investigating financial crimes for that matter. Mountains out of mole hills.
