Florida woman bit boyfriend's 6-year-old son, police say

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Corrections

Rachael Bohbot was arrested for allegedly biting her boyfriend's son.

A Florida woman was arrested over the weekend for allegedly biting her boyfriend's 6-year-old son in a contest to see who could bite the hardest, authorities said.

Rachael Bohbot, of Boynton Beach, remained in Palm Beach County Jail on $3,000 bond on Tuesday. She faces a charge of child abuse without great harm after her boyfriend's son told his mother that Bohbot bit him several times over the course a weekend he spent with his father, a Boynton Beach police arrest report said.

The boy was limping and told authorities Bohbot had bitten him on the leg while playing the "bite game," the report said. He said the game was a contest to see who could bite the hardest and that he lost the game when his thigh became bruised, the report said.

He said that his reward for winning would be additions to his Halloween costume, the report said.

When authorities met with Bohbot, she first denied biting the boy but later admitted to biting him on the shoulder harder than normal, the report said. She also said the boy cried uncontrollably and in an attempt to stop his cries, she offered him a toy sword for Halloween, the report said.

She told authorities that she bit him on the shoulder, not the leg, and did not have an explanation as to how he got the bruise on the leg, the report said.

It wasn't immediately known whether Bohbot had an attorney.

Well, what does that say about the dad if this is who he selected for his girlfriend? Talk about stupid!

If I were that little boy's mother, there would be no more visits with dad, as he obviously is not interested in the safety & welfare of his son.

What's wrong with the father letting a woman like that around his son? This is the problem when 60% of dads today are single fathers.

Since she bit him on the thigh they couldn't charge her with Felony child abuse so they charged her with a misdaweiner.

Maybe the kid was a biter. Don't even tell me you've never seen kids get angry & bite another child or even an adult. When my friends' son was little, he would bite when he couldn't get his own way, even his parents. He even bit his K teacher. My friends were banging their heads on the wall over this b/c nothing they tried in the way of punishment was making him stop.

So his mother bit him back one day (no bruising or skin-breaking). The kid howled like she'd stabbed him. Then she asked him if he liked it. Of course he screamed, NO! IT HURTS! And she said, good to know, so now every time you bite someone, I'm going to bite you again.

Problem finally solved once his brain made the connection that what he was doing to others was damn painful. No one had ever bitten him back b4. Adults of course wouldn't & other kids were too busy screaming in shock over his biting to try it. Maybe not the ideal solution to curb a biter, but it worked.

Just sayin'. Could've been sick of the kid biting her & tried to teach him a lesson. Didn't necessarily have to be malicious intent.

Really, that's the first thing you were worried about? You should start "thinking", because the media outlets always show pictures of "suspects". The issue here is you think only "minorities" commit crimes, and the media protects them(provide an example).

Hey Joe, How about the recent story of a kid who smacked a teacher he didn't know. The teacher was just walking down the street. The boy was black and the teacher was white. Knocked the teacher out and the teacher fell flat on his face banging it on the cement. The media barely even reported the story let alone showed pictures or mentioned race. There are plenty more examples.

Hockeymom1111:

You would be surprised at how some women/men are able to put their best innocent face until they have secured their place. Once they have that, if their partner have children, they wait until he/she goes to work. Then they show their real face to the child. The article doesn't say if the child complained to the father. Most likely he didn't, because she was always present. He had to wait the whole weekend until he got to his mother's house.

This is a mean, sick woman. And she should do jail time, and I hope the system gets on her arse for at least a couple of years on counseling.

She definitely is an abusive fat slob and needs to be put away! And where in the world is the boys father when she is doing such things? Only a parent can protect their kids and so I hope this guy gets this crazy bitch out of his life!

And why on earth are people bring race into this story? I see all too many times how this news site tries to stir up controversy using the race card and that is usually against the mexicans or any minority for that matter. I have never seen them be protected....what the "H" are you talking about????

LG it still wouldn't be up to you though. The court would decide whether or not the father was guilty of anything and a judge would likely force unsupervised since he wasn't also arrested here. Men have been choosing to stay out of the lives of their children most of the time anyway. There are maybe four good fathers in the entire world and I can't name one of them.

Whoa! If she does have kids, somebody might want to check them for signs of abuse! Cheese and rice, people! What was she thinking...or is that the problem, she wasn't thinking at all! She is supposed to be an adult! I am old school, and yes, if a child is into biting, then bite them back just enough to get 'their attention' and to make them understand they are not to bite...not engage in a biting contest with the child and definitely not leave bruises or obvious teeth marks! If the boy's father knew about this and let it go on, maybe someone should bite him for awhile and the mother not let the boy visit, only let the father visit for an hour (at most) by himself with supervision! Apparently the father has been wearing blinders or doesn't care. I think-my opinion-the girlfriend needs a psychiatric testing and perhaps some time in anger management, and maybe even a sign on her front lawn warning that she bites!!!!!

Like that's something new in the world of parenting? You see brats throwing tantrums in stores & being pacified w/ new toys all the time.

If you want CPS to waste resources *investigating* every idiot parent who does that just b/c you think it's suspicious behavior, they wouldn't have time to do anything else.

              Hey scar_tissue,

I 'hear' you! I have found that the chocolate community is not one bit afraid to spank their kids in the store when they throw a fit, and dare anyone to 'step in', but I've also noticed most of the vanilla community is soooo afraid of correcting their screaming little brat that they give in and buy them something to shut the kid up! I'm not making a racist comment, just observation. I have seen such behavior in the malls, grocery stores, etc, and the difference is apparent.

I do agree, there is something going on that should be checked out. And this silly business of dragging parents through the ringer just because they make their kids behave is wasting DHR resources, charging the parents with abuse for merely spanking the brat. Time out is BS because it just gives the kid time to think about...how they can better get away with whatever they did the next time. There is a difference between correcting/spanking on the bum and beating/abusing the kid! Now back to the point....

I also have to wonder if that wasn't the girlfriend's way of expressing her displeasure at being stuck babysitting when she could be doing something more fun? Just a thought. I have noticed people have become more selfish and self serving and will strike out at whoever is weaker or feebler then themselves.

MammaH54: I was thinking the same thing. Maybe she didn't want to take care of someone else's kid, and wanted to discourage the kid of wanting to stay with daddy on the weekends, when I guess, she wanted to go out with her boyfriend. Anyway, she's a no good. If I were the father, I would throw her out like a brown bag.

Its pretty sad that an "adult", thinks it is ok to get into a biting contest with a 6 year old. The fact that she lied to the police tells me she knew what she did was wrong. There is more to this, like maybe taking her anger out on a kid because she dislikes the ex, or was fighting with the father???? Have to wait and see what else comes out. The fact the kid was limping tells me this was not a "game" but intentionally hurting a child!!!!

Actually, keep_it_cool, yeah they do. Child support and visitation are two totally separate issues. At least, it is here in our state. A person who has not paid a dime in child support still has every right to have visitation with their child, according to our court system.

I am always shocked at how reckless single parents can be when it comes to new partners. Is it so unreasonable for these people to put their children first and their own sexual needs second? Children are young for such a short time and they need our full commitment during that period. Everything else can wait till they are grown.

For the record, I am a single parent and my kids mean more to me than any man EVER will. I would never move anyone in to my home because even a remote chance of abuse is too much in my opinion.

Since a name like 'rusty beaver' simply invites snide remarks, one could make a point that being overly cautious makes a beaver rusty... but I still think you have a very valid point. Better have a rusty beaver than a kid scarred by abuse from your partner.

Kudos to you, Rusty, I totally agree. More parents should be as conscientious as you. We, as parents, cannot be too careful when it comes to the health, safety, and welfare of our children. We only get one chance to do it right. I cannot believe some of the things I have seen single parents do. I would never jeapordize my son's safety for any man. Sorry guys, but there is no man walking this earth worth enough to allow my son to be hurt. Had I not met my husband I would still be single.

My son was 17 before I remarried. I never left my child alone with anyone I dated, which was not often. I did not date at all for about 8 years while my child was growing up. The few people I did date were told that it was a package deal, me and my child. I never left my child with a sitter so I could go out; if the person didn't like my child coming along, we (my child and I) did not go, period. My child and I have been blessed to have a man like my husband come into our lives. Hubby has been terrific to my child, even better than his own father.

"harder than normal"? How hard does one usually bit people? This woman is nuts. She should be in a mental institution.

Rustybeaver: Your post is so refreshing! I agree with everything you say.

I became a single parent at the age of 26. And seems like you and me had pretty much the same lifestyle and way of acting when it came to our families. Kudos to you!!

What adult(if I can call her that) plays a biting game with a six year old..obviously she didn't stop to think that she would most definitely hurt him..what a nut case...

Heaven, I was thinking the same thing. Also, what adult, who is in their right mind, rewards a child for biting. I'm sure teachers and students alike really appreciate her reinforcing an extremely bad habit that any other normal adult tries to stop a child from doing.

Besides the fact that this woman is a complete psycho, I have to wonder what the authorities are thinking. She was charged with child abuse without great harm. . . . ummmm, the boy was limping from the bruise on his thigh from the bite (I know she denied that particular bite, but whatever). That doesn't sound like "without great harm" to me.

It said she told him she'd supplement his Halloween costume w/ a sword if he stopped crying, not as a *reward* for biting.

ummmm, the boy was limping from the bruise on his thigh from the bite (I know she denied that particular bite, but whatever).

Well, it's not all that hard to distinguish a bite mark from a bruise, even if the teeth don't break the skin. A bruise from banging yourself into something usually doesn't have a pattern or any unbruised area btwn what's usually a pair of bruises. I'm sure a dr can figure out if it's really a bite mark. Likely already has, since she's been charged.

That doesn't sound like "without great harm" to me.

*Great harm* would be more along the lines of broken bones or severe burns than a bruise. Something that would put a child in the hospital.

Scar, from the article, "He said the game was a contest to see who could bite the hardest and that he lost the game when his thigh became bruised, the report said.

He said that his reward for winning would be additions to his Halloween costume, the report said."

Sounds like a reward to me.

Know what you mean. one can say or do what ever they like about/to me, but don't go there with my child. I do not play when it comes to the safety and happiness of my son. People tend to forget that a parenthood is a huge responsibility and not to be taken lightly.

I 'hear' you! My kids are grown and I'm still protective of them! Almost all of my daughter's friends call me mom, and only know the nice woman that makes fudge and cereal balls...only a few have been witness to mama bear going after someone for hurting one of my kids!

I also agree.....I am hoping this incident was an eye-opener for him concerning the safety and well-being of his son! The girlfriend better be glad I am not the kid's mother! Hospital? Jail? Nyah! Country justice.....maybe she wasn't taught correctly as a child not to bite, but I'd be willing to put my teeth in for the occasion! How about you?

When a litter of puppies "play bite" each other, they have the sense to stop when the other puppy yelps. If they don't mamma intervenes to stop them from hurting each other. This woman has less common sense than a canine. What a prize for daddy! Can't wait to see what happens when this poor kid is sent home from school for biting other kids. What a gift she is giving to the bio-mom. Could be that's her motive.
