The popular vote continues to show a clear lead for Obama. He is winning it by over 3,000,000 now. Immigration reform will be complete when America reforms the way we treat each other. They trash peoples property regularly in my area and leave mountains of trash behind. They are responsible for the majority of home invasions around here, many times being armed with weapons they have stolen elsewhere! I myself have been the victim of one such armed home invasion while I was home. It was not a pleasant experience for me or my wife believe me. Prior to that, my wife would not allow firearms in the house. After that she changed her mind and I now own two hand guns and a rifle for protection of my home and family. Illegals are a drain on our resources, communities, and our economy. ObamaCare was the most damaging law in the history of this country. Businesses laid off as much as their workforce as they could then kept a "core" waiting to see what happened in the election. An Obama win guaranteed full implementation of ObamaCare. You yelled and screamed how GREAT this was!! Well enjoy it while it lasts because businesses had a list of employees already prepared they would have to let go if Obama won which he did. So businesses are now starting to give "pink slips" to many. They just can't afford ObamaCare with their current workforce. And yesterday articles were already telling us several businesses are laying people off and telling us that the direct reason is ObamaCare. You CAN'T just expect businesses to absorb additional costs. They can't so forced to reduce their costs in payroll.

And who gets let go first? The low-skilled worker that can be done without or replaced by equipment and computerized systems. And Hispanics and minorities have a higher percent in the low-skilled jobs. You see Republicans did a very poor job explaining we actually want to HELP you succeed but the unintelligent voter was attracted to the candidate (Obama) who promises free stuff from health care to checks. But that can't go on forever and now you will see the result. So you praise an Obama win but let's see if you are equally happy in 12 months when unemployment increases to over 10%, the economy goes into another recession (or even depression?), and at THAT time all you really are asking for is a job.

But too late. You made an unintelligent vote not realizing the consequences. Today you are happy. Today you think you made the right decision. Today you are looking forward to your promised "goodies". But 12 months from now you won't be so happy. Unemployed. Benefits declining due to massive mandatory government spending cuts because the international financial markets no longer want to lend the U.S. money. Massive Austerity is mandatory. You think the riots in Greece are bad today? The U.S. riots when forced to implement Austerity programs will make Greece look like a trip to Disney World. No, 12 months from now all you will want is a job and a place to live.

But you voted for Obama. You have made your bed - now you must sleep in it. Me? Don't worry about me. I am closing my business and retiring 10 years earlier than planned. I don't see an advantage staying open another 10 years so closing as of December 31st. I do feel sorry for my employee though. A few have been with me a long time and that was why I wanted to let them know as soon as possible. They have all been told that December 31st is their last day. Certainly not the Christmas they had planned but thank the unintelligent voters that voted for Obama. I am building a cabin on several acres in Tennessee and will unfortunately be watching the collapse of the U.S. economy (and country) from my front porch.

But enjoy your next four years with Obama. If I do have one suggestion it would be to stock up on freeze dried food with a long shelf-life, stock up on ammunition, and start to buy precious metals that you can trade and barter when our currency collapses. First and foremost, I think all peopel that want to come to this country should come here legally. That being said, the immigration process, as it is now, is pathetic. A relative of mine has been going through the process for going on 5 years now. Now how is it that a hardworking, lawabiding person who dreams of becoming a citizen hasn't attained it due to this insane process we have now? And how is it that the US offer's visa like candies to Middle Easterners, but denies citizenship to our neighbors for years on end?

Streamline the process, why does it take so long to achieve this? There are articles about a hispanic lawyer who had been trying to attain his citizenship for 19 years! If you think that's alright, then you are part of the problem. There should be no need for someoen who is goign through the process, contributing to the nation, to have to wait so long for his citizenship. Talk about the everlasting unatainable carrot.

I actually saw posts for people to "Vote for LOVE." "This election is about LOVE." Really. Well, when LOVE can get the economy growing again and understand how small businesses actually run, I'll vote for LOVE. Until then I just see a lot of gullible people who re-elected a fiscally weak president because he made a bunch of empty promises of social change. Ironically, marriage equality and immigration reform had a better chance of being passed by individual states under Romney instead of trying to force a federal mandate. Here's my idea of 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform';

1 - Secure the borders to stop the influx.

2 - Children who were brought here by their parents when they were under 15 years of age should be allowed to work here legally and apply for citizenship if they graduate from high school or serve in the military.

3 - Adults who are here illegally should pay a fine to be given authorization to work here, but no 'path to citizenship'. Any serious crimes committed will lead to deportation.

4 - No welfare benefits for illegal immigrants - strictly enforced.

5 - Higher education for illegal immigrants at 'out of state' tuition rates.

6 - All employers must file annual certifications that their employees have been E-Verified, with criminal (and civil) penalties for non-compliance.

There is no other industrialized country in the World that allows such loose immigration standards as the USA.

And you criticize and despise the very businesses that will allow an economy to grow and this administration is intentionally creating a stagnant economy to force more to rely on government. You see history has shown us that the only way for a government to have control of the people is to make the people rely on government for their "survival". But Benjamin Franklin said it best when he said "He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.". But that is what you voted for. Enjoy. Not me. I don't sacrifice my freedom for security. I take care of myself. But if you want to rely on government that is your choice.

The writing is on the wall on what Mr. Obama will do for the Illegal Aliens (Immigrants):

1. An expansive, de facto amnesty program for illegal aliens via both executive order and inter-agency directives linked with a reduction in the capabilities of the U.S. Border Patrol.
2. Plans to bring in untold numbers of new immigrants with the removal of caps on H-1B visas and green cards.
3. Government-funded, neighborhood-based programs to better integrate the newly amnestied immigrants into society, including education centers and health care centers. A "federal solution" to ensure that the amnestied immigrants are treated "equitably" across the United States.
4. Streamlined procedures for Illegal Aliens (Immigrants) to obtain entry in colleges/universities, housing, JOBS, and VOTER I.D.s.

Yep, "I voted for you and now what are you going to do for ME and my FAMILY".

And, if Congress doesn't get the job done, then Executive Order fiat or changes to regulations by his Liberal Cabinet members will occur.

Meanwhile, Main Street~Middle America will be left in the dust.

Make ya a deal: you limit your families to two children each, and we can find jobs and cheap health insurance for you. Otherwise, you are asking the impossible.

I find it interesting that a large majority of Hispanics voted for Obama in 2008 on a 'promise' of 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform', and Obama didn't even try to propose an immigration reform bill into Congress - despite having a 'Filibuster proof Congress' for at least part of his first term.

The result - Hispanics rewarded Obama with an even greater majority of votes from Hispanics.

Not misplaced at all. Do you not realize how many hispanics have been given legal status by Obama during his first 4 years in office? Or that he has signed bills changing the requirements for citizenship? No, not everyone is here illegally, but you'd be very surprised at how many are here illegally and have false identification, fake licenses, birth certificates, social security cards, even fake voter registration cards. In NYC alone, you can buy these anywhere, mostly from underground hispanic groups with hidden agenda's. Think I'm wrong, take a trip to the upper west side of NYC, particularly around the Ft. I was adopted as an infant, never told before my parents passed away in a car accident. 18 years after my adoption, USCIS finds they've lost my adoption paper and comes looking for a copy, which I couldn't provide because I never knew. Actually, no we don't.

Back when many of your parents and grandparents emigrated before WWII, they showed up at an immigration station like Ellis Island with the application, a nominal fee, and a list of skills and education and how they could contribute to America. Some of them had relatives here or knew someone already here, and it was helpful but not required.

Sometime between then and now, the law changed. Now instead of it being about what you can contribute, it's become all about who you know--if you don't have a school, employer, or close family member who can sponsor you in, you cannot come in. And that's a barrier--people who have education and skills to contribute can't get in because they don't know anyone here,while someone with little to no education and no economically useful skills can be sponsored in by a family member.

'The 'you can only come in if you know someone already here' rule is a large part of the paperwork and time holdup for many legal immigrants. USCIS has to go and trace how the immigrant is related to the sponsor, and this can be difficult in countries without stable government, countries hit by natural disasters, etc.

For me, one of the quickest fixes to this that I can see is to go back to what worked--go back to how it was when your parents and grandparents immigrated, go back to it being about what you can contribute rather than who you know. The sole exception to that in my opinion would be children.

When a populace realizes that not only are there illegal citizens here but they are actually being protected from our laws there can only be more resentment and subsequently anger. These sanctuary cities are pandering to the political correctness that divides us more than unites us. It is also politically driven to allow the growing resentment to continue.

We are a nation of laws. When we allow our laws to be abrogated in the name of fairness is when we lose control and, more importantly, our identity. Laws are laws and they cannot be allowed to be selectively enforced for the benefit of selected groups. This is the convolution of profiling. We demonize profiling when it comes to looking for illegal individuals here but we romanticize profiling sanctuary inhabitants as some sort of acceptable solution. This can no longer continue.

Emotions can no longer be allowed to rule our immigration problems. Laws must be enforced and those breaking our laws must be punished. The fact that our government has allowed the problem to go on for so long can no longer be an acceptable excuse. We don’t work for the government, it works for us. We have immigration laws, they must be either enforced or changed and enforced. When we can identify how many illegal aliens we have and the sanctuary cities they inhabit, enforcing the laws must be demanded. It is not fair that so many can be allowed into our nation illegally and then demand that others come here via the legal and normal way. This only creates division and anger.

In many areas in the U.S., a person can wake up to a radio alarm clock, listen to a traffic report on TV, drop the kids off at school and talk to the teacher and principal, go to the post office, the doctor, the grocery store and work, drive home listening to music, watch TV all night before going to bed and never need to speak or hear a single word of English the entire day.

America is no longer a melting pot to them. There are two pots. Americans and Hispanics. And as history proves, this situation almost always results in division.

There is a real threat to America, and it is represented by every Hispanic in this country who has no desire to become an American, and by every one of them that puts their Hispanic brethren before America. And there are tens of millions of them.

Don't be fooled by all those carrying American flags at protest. Before that, they carried the flags of their home country, mostly Mexico. La Raza, MALDEF, LULAC etc. saw the backlash and has instructed them not to carry their home country flags. They will probably realize their goal (#4.2 above). Given the long-running demographic trend it is almost certain. But, the average hispanic with the agenda stated above likes to think they will seize control of a prosperous nation that will be hispanic-controlled - and still prosperous. The U.S. they control will no longer be worth having and will likely be indistiguishable from any other latin-american country because while their NUMBERS are advancing, their culture is not.

Elected officials only care about remaining in power. They learned a long time ago that if they gave the voters "free stuff" those voters would vote you back into office in perpetuity. BROOKS COUNTY, Texas --

Brooks County, Texas is a less than five-hour drive from Houston, but the
rural community of just over 7,200 people is facing an overwhelming amount of
crime.

High-speed chases, smugglers and a rising body count has become a
fact of life in a county made up largely of ranchers and farmers.

"We
have a lot to contend with," said Brooks County Chief Deputy Urbino Martinez.
"It takes a toll."

Houston's connection to this rise in crime can be
clearly seen in the 250 cars kept in the sheriff's office's impound
lot.

"There's criminal acts involving every vehicle that's here," said
Martinez.

Martinez said 95 percent of the cars the county has seized this
year as part of human, drug and weapons smuggling were originally stolen out of
the Houston area.

"The connection between us and Houston, it's almost
like you would have to say 'neighboring,'" said Martinez.

In addition to
Martinez and Sheriff Rey Rodriguez, Brooks County has only four full-time patrol
deputies and one investigator to cover 944 square miles of highway, back roads
and ranch land.

Martinez said deputies have to work 12-hour shifts to
keep up with all the crime running through the county.

"Whether it's
human smuggling, drug smuggling, or both at the same time, it's phenomenal,"
said sheriff's investigator Daniel Davila. "They are coming in
droves."

Brooks County averages two high-speed chases every day involving
either drugs or human smuggling.

This year, the county is also
contending with 60 missing person cases and 116 bodies of illegal immigrants
found murdered or dead from exposure.

Sheriff's office records show the
number of bodies found in Brooks County in 2012 has more than doubled from
2011.

"The waste of human life, it makes no sense how people are dying
out here," said Davila. "I can only imagine the bodies that are out there that
we have yet to discover."

In addition to tying up scant law enforcement
resources, the rising number of bodies found in the county is also a financial
burden to taxpayers.

Sheriff's officials said it costs the county
between $1,200 and $1,500 per body.

That cost includes investigation,
sending each body to another county for autopsy and, in some cases, burying the
individuals in the county's cemetery.

"We got maybe 40 unnamed graves out
there," said Martinez.

Brooks County is about 75 miles north of the
border, but crime is funneling into the area because of geography.

Davila explained many smugglers make it across the border with people or
drugs and then fan out into dense ranch lands to avoid border patrol checkpoints
along the highway.

The Sheriff's office contends with so much crime on a
daily basis it has had to supplement its annual budget with money from seized
assets.

Records show the sheriff's office's actual budget for 2011-2012
was $620,186.90.

Records also show the office had to spend an additional
$387,834 from asset seizure funds just to maintain daily operational
costs.

"We're not going to stop just because we don't have the
resources," said Davila. "The pay is lousy, and it may sound corny, but this is
my home. This is where I like to be, this is where I want to be, this is where I
want to try to make things a little bit better."

While it still receives
some federal funding through partnerships with surrounding counties, the Brooks
County Sheriff's Office recently lost its state Border Star funding for the
quarter.

Martinez explained that with only a staff of three
administrators, who also handle calls for help and take missing persons reports,
the office couldn't keep up with all the paperwork required to secure the
grant.

With Zachary Taylor's troops stuck in northern Mexico, General Winfield Scott proposed a bold plan, an amphibious attack on the coastal Mexican town of Vera Cruz. Scott used his extensive experience with similar operations on the Canadian frontier during the War of 1812 in planning the attack. The attack was the largest amphibious landing of any nation up to that date.

Beginning in February, 1847, Scott amassed nearly 12,000 troops at the Rio Grande on the border of Texas and Mexico. Opposing him would be more than 20,000 Mexicans, some of whom were seasoned veterans under the command of Santa Anna, the Centralist leader who 10 years earlier invaded Texas, ordered the massacre at Goliad and led the attack on the Alamo.

Scott landed about three miles south of the city on March 10, 1847, and encircled Vera Cruz in four days, laying siege to the Mexican city. By the end of the month the encircled city surrendered. It was the first in a series of successes that would make General Scott an American hero.

Moving inland, Scott encountered 12,000 Mexican nationals at Cerro Gordo or El Telegrafo. In what was a textbook execution of a brilliant plan, Scott encircled Santa Anna's army and forced it to withdraw. A mistake by Gideon Pillow unfortunately cost the lives of hundreds of men, however, because of Pillow's close association with then President Polk, the error was downplayed in Scott's report.

As the General approached Mexico City he stopped. He could not attack the city because he needed General Santa Anna to remain as head of government. If he attacked and won, the general might have been relieved of duty. This upset some of his higher ranking subordinates, many of whom wanted to attack the city for personal reasons.

Finally, facing recruitment deadlines and financial problems, Scott was forced to attack. A three-prong advance caught the Mexican Army off-balance and sent them scurrying from the city and the surrounding countryside. The Mexican Army removed to Buena Vista. From here Santa Anna negotiated a peace treaty, then was quickly overthrown.

Winfield Scott had so impressed the people of Mexico that a delegation visited his camp to find out what he would require to lead the new government. Scott refused politely.

John finds depite moving production of the country he can save $900 per car, recover the cost of moving and eventually save $1200 per car. So, John moves production outside the country and cuts the price to $22,900.

Do you just assume that all Hispanics are here illegally? I ask because there are more than 50 million Hispanics in the US and only 11 million illegal immigrants (not all of whom are Hispanic). Do you think it is fair that Mitt Romney paid less than 14% federal income tax over the past several years? Do you think it is fair (if, as alleged) he paid ZERO income tax for several years before that?

The fact that what he did may be legal actually makes it WORSE. We all know that wealthy individuals have systematically and over a long time purchased legislation to benefit themselves and without the slightest concern that the legislation is manifestly unfair to the remainder of America.

Most of us would far prefer to have our taxes go to a welfare mom than to some plutocrat. Make no mistake: tax avoidance (per Romney) is an expense to our economy just as surely as is any other outlay.

It is past time for the wealthy to pay their taxes. First, the capital gains tax laws need to be changed so that they are not used by folks like Romney to escape the taxes the rest of us pay. Second, those laws should be changed such that social security is paid on ALL income regardless of whether it came from a capital gain. Third, the cap on earnings for social security needs to be substantially raised.

These are only a start. There is so much unfairness (favoring the rich) in our tax code that pages and pages could be written about it. Rest assured, that will happen.

Look at hs321's comment just above. He is obviously suffering from fear induced racism. But, do you think he considers himself a racist? No, because he believes his fears are justified and that he is merely "protecting" his tribe. His is one of the most intractable sorts of racism. Fear is one of the strongest human emotions. It has a grip on him that is not likely to be loosened before his days are over.

Well, that same fearful mentality is what led to the extermination of millions of Jews in Europe. It led to Jim Crow laws, racial segregation, and stereotyping in America. It led similarly in South Africa and elsewhere.

Now, regarding your egalitarian concerns about "law-breakers". Where are your comments insisting that traditional American citizens who hire illegal aliens be prosecuted? After all, if not for those folks creating demand, there would be far fewer illegal aliens.

Please, if you have evidence of such insistence on your part, provide the links. When these are seen, your egalitarian claims will be (more) credible. Also, it is not too late to start now. Let's see some arguments from you about prosecuting these law breaking employers.

Illegal immigration is a problem of opportunity.

In Europe, most illegal immigrants come from North Africa. That is because North Africa is proximal to Europe.

In North America, most illegal immigrants come from places proximal enough (i.e. Mexico, Central and South America, and the Carribean) to make it possible.

If SE Asia was proximal to the United States, you can rest assured the majority of our illegal immigrants would come from SE Asia.

Ian..."fear induced racism"? I am a scientist. I don't even believe in the concept of race. I am also a student of history. Which clearly you must not be, or if so, selectively so.

If you are naive enough to think Hispanics will not retaliate against innocent whites, who never did anything to them, for the wrongs done to their long-dead ancestors by long-dead people, you are not only confused, but disillusioned. And that's not a good combination.

Tribal? Just look at how the "tribes" in Africa treat each other. Race and/or skin color have nothing to do with being tribal. Humans are tribal. Its a fact of evolution, just like prides are a fact of lion evolution and packs a fact of canine evolution. If you think the animal human is going to change it's behaviour because we have technology...well...I already said something about being confused and disillusioned.

Most of us oppose illegal immigration. But, such opposition must be equally applied to all groups. That is not the case with your side. You folks are hysterical about HISPANIC illegal immigration and could not care less that other groups are immigrating here illegally....and, they are.

Furthermore, most of you pay no attention to the fact that for every employed illegal alien, there is AT LEAST ONE ILLEGAL EMPLOYER. When you start focusing on the demand rather than (or, at least as much as) the supply, you can make a case that you are not simply xenophobes. Until then, that's what you appear to be.

The truth is: you don't want ANY immigrants that are likely to become voters who lean democrat. You are all fine with Cuban immigrants (traditional or not). That's the one Hispanic immigrant group that leans republican.
