Police: Arizona woman runs down husband with car for not voting

Arizona police say a pregnant woman ran over her husband with the family car because she was angry he didn't vote. KPNX's Oralia Ortega reports.

An Arizona woman, in despair at the re-election of Democratic President Barack Obama, ran down her husband with the family car in suburban Phoenix on Saturday because he failed to vote in the election, police said on Monday.

Holly Solomon, 28, was arrested after running over husband Daniel Solomon following a wild chase that left him pinned underneath the vehicle.

Daniel Solomon, 36, was in critical condition at a local hospital, but is expected to survive, Gilbert police spokesman Sergeant Jesse Sanger said.

Police said Daniel Solomon told them his wife became angry over his "lack of voter participation" in last Tuesday's presidential election and believed her family would face hardship as a result of Obama winning another term.

Witnesses reported the argument broke out on Saturday morning in a parking lot and escalated. Holly Solomon then chased her husband around the lot with the car, yelling at him as he tried to hide behind a light pole, police said. He was struck after attempting to flee to a nearby street.

Obama won the national election with 332 electoral votes compared with 206 for Republican challenger Mitt Romney. Arizona's 11 electoral votes were won by Romney.

If we could JUST figure out a way to channel that Republican anger towards a more productive direction.....

......like running over folks who voted for Obama.

wao 18 pages of comments now on this article. I just want to say that individual has nothing to do with Obama winning, what would one vote could mean if Obama won 332 electoral votes against 206 of Romney?

"IXLR8 Comment collapsed by the community" I don't want to re-hash this but this is your typical Romney supporter. She also failed to realize that Mitt got run over by the Electoral Votes saying resoundly no to his old failed plans. The GOP and it's followers are generally mentally defective. Hopefully this woman gets the help she needs. And your typical democrap follower, Can't be happy and keep his mouth shut.... Being run over by the "electoral college votes" only means perhaps it is time to get rid of the stupid thing.. The popular vote was a lot closer and if the democraps don't realize that half the country will be watching close to how they muck up the country some more... Mr. Mulatto in the Black/White house has started the ball rolling downhill and should have been stopped and where it ends is anyone's guess.. But we all will be poorer for it, in money and faith in our system that let's the ignorant run things.. Remember the 2008 season, CHANGE, and we got a four term loser in Joe Biden...

As I've been saying for years now: Republicans, mostly, are the ones that have that crazy, obsessive, and violent gene, which made them kill Lincoln, John and Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and other "liberal" thinkers. This "conservative" thinking gene wants to conserve things the way they are. Maybe it fears for its own death. It keeps the anus of Republicans tight all the time, thus giving them that uptight attitude. They are not flexible at all. As a result, not only they go bullistic, but they also turn into assassins. They are, indeed, to be feared, and not trusted. They need to be kept under the radar at all times, so that we can defend from them.

I feel sorry for both of them. Rage never lasts, but the aftermath you may have to live with for a lifetime. The husband will have a lifetime reminder that someone who he believed loved him physically harmed him. In the old days rage crimes were called crimes of passion. Rage and a weapon, which could be anything, but in this case it was a car.

So since America is made up of 80% white why don't we all vote for the white guy like the blacks did with Obama? (just askin).. Im just curious since its now 2 elections and blacks have clearly shown a racial line and a covert form of electoral racism.

Obama is white, so was his mother.

Don't tick off a Democrat. They don't get mad - they get even.....4 years of "revenge" coming up.

I'm sure this is not the first time this whacko abused her husband. Hopefully he will leave her abusive a$$ and CPS takes that poor baby away when she has it. Can you imagine how she would abuse that child? She looks like a weirdo.

Not all people are bat$h%t crazy here in AZ. This isn't about voting, republican or democrat or tea party, black or white, what religion someone is or what faith they believe in, Obama or Romney. This is about a drunk crazy white lady who took her car rammed her husband who is in critical condition, wrecked her suv, wrecked her life and voting is an attempt at a defense.....Freakin' pathetic!

I guess aside from the obvious tragedy that resulted from this deranged woman's actions, the fact that she is going to give birth is particularly frightening. She does not have the stability to care for anyone....

Jester99 You obviously did not read the studies done by the media and the University of Chicago after the 2000 election. The results were that if the recount argued for by Gore would have continued, based on what both side had agreed to as what actually constituted a vote, Bush would have still won. Quit trying to revise history.

This lady should have ran Romney's campaign.

^ lol. Mitt's dog is on the roof, and her hubby is underneath the car. :)
