Police: Arizona woman runs down husband with car for not voting

Arizona police say a pregnant woman ran over her husband with the family car because she was angry he didn't vote. KPNX's Oralia Ortega reports.

An Arizona woman, in despair at the re-election of Democratic President Barack Obama, ran down her husband with the family car in suburban Phoenix on Saturday because he failed to vote in the election, police said on Monday.

Holly Solomon, 28, was arrested after running over husband Daniel Solomon following a wild chase that left him pinned underneath the vehicle.

Daniel Solomon, 36, was in critical condition at a local hospital, but is expected to survive, Gilbert police spokesman Sergeant Jesse Sanger said.

Police said Daniel Solomon told them his wife became angry over his "lack of voter participation" in last Tuesday's presidential election and believed her family would face hardship as a result of Obama winning another term.

Witnesses reported the argument broke out on Saturday morning in a parking lot and escalated. Holly Solomon then chased her husband around the lot with the car, yelling at him as he tried to hide behind a light pole, police said. He was struck after attempting to flee to a nearby street.

Obama won the national election with 332 electoral votes compared with 206 for Republican challenger Mitt Romney. Arizona's 11 electoral votes were won by Romney.

Actually, it seems to me that having such a dangerous, loopy fruitcake out of the house is a blessing in disguise...

Divorce this nutcase. What she should have been doing is running down Democrats.

      Seems to me a letter to her Congressional Representative would have sufficed to demand a full recount of the Presidential Elections Voting, as fraud is alleged to have occurred across the nation in this Presidential Election! Some Democratic regions used special computer updates, had voting machines counting votes for Romney, for Oboma, and had not one vote for Romney in their districts! Sounds like our votes no longer count, no matter whom we vote for! The Democratic Propaganda Machine worked it wonders and seem to have gotten completely away with it! Slippery slope indeed! {:-(}

She is a real wack job. Anyone with more than 3 brain cells would have known that BHO would win. Congress runs the country, not the president. If you are unhappy, elect better people for congress. Yes our economy sucks but the US is part of the global economy is down so that means the US is also down. It will get better people.

This is the result of the right wing irresponsible talk radio fear mongering that has been going on since the BLACK GUY became president. Enough is enough already. This woman needs a 12-step get-off-the-Limbaugh program.

SO, THAT's why they keep the likes of the National Enquirer and Globe at the checkout aisle, for the "special" scandalnews cuckoomoms when they go grocery shopping.

Symptoms-big hair smelling of Aquanet, chain-smoking, anxious eyes and twangy speech, they need to put warning labels on that stuff...

Her political party is not the issue. Her manic behavior is reason enough for her to be put into a mental healthcare facility. If she's deemed mentally sound and this was due to an anger management problem then prison time would be appropriate for attempted murder.

just a cleaning lady--you just made a good point! On the serious side of this, there very well could be a mental illness involved. I know plenty of Democrats AND Republicans--personal friends and family members--and none, NONE of them would ever do anything like this! We have differing opinions on political matters, but we all love and value each other, and help each other out when times get rough!

You'll want to review the definition of "manic". You'll find it means the opposite of what you think it does. Additionally, while I agree that her politics aren't what made her crazy, it does show that the crazies tend to agree with her view of politics.

this is what happens when republicans stand up for four years and say obama is killing our country. that he is destroying our country. when you build up rage and hatred toward one man mostly based on fictional things, this is the result. when all you talk about is taking "country" back instead of fixing "OUR" country people get driven to insanity.

The woman said she would be hurt by Obama winning the election. Well we are ALL going to be Hurting because Obama won the Election. Obama hasn't got a clue on what to do about the economy or anything else but the Minorities put him back in office anyway. We will see even more of this Voting for a Candidate because of "Color" in the future.

White lady justice favors those who looks like her. This woman will claims years of abuse by the husband, get out on $5,000 to $10,000 bail and then get time served and probation for a couple of year. If a black man did what she did, he will not get bail and spent at least 10 years in prison.

Another prime example of hostility bred as a result of the current political environment. I say we cut Congress' access to air travel, and make them all drive back home in the same vehicles. 1 car for both senators for each state, then 4 representatives per car for each state(any odd number representative gets to rid with the senators). Or we just put them all on greyhound buses.

Arizona went for Mitt. Her husband's vote would not have mattered. This woman was a nutcase. If she didn't run him over for this - it would have been for some other reason. I will bet that she has abused him violently even before this incident.
