The woman who triggered the investigation that led to the resignation of CIA chief David Petraeus threw lavish parties for top military brass – and also racked up debt. NBC's Kristen Welker reports.
The FBI agent who was asked by Jill Kelley to look into disturbing emails she received was a friend of hers and never had a further part in the investigation, a senior law enforcement official said Tuesday.
The official says the FBI agent had met Kelley many months before she complained to him about the threatening emails -- allegedly sent by Paula Broadwell, Gen. David Petraeus’ biographer and a woman with whom he is believed to have had an affair.
The agent sent Kelley a photo of himself with no shirt, "as a joke, a gag" at least six months before she began receiving the troubling emails, the official said. There is, the official said, no indication that the relationship between the two was anything more than a friendship.
But the official says that after Kelley came to the agent with her complaint, he faded from the picture and was not in on the investigation. Then agents discovered the shirtless photo in her e-mails, which was reported to his supervisors, resulting in an internal investigation into whether he acted inappropriately.
He's the same agent who contacted House Republicans in October to complain that the investigation was stalled. But, the official said, the agent was far out of the loop and had no idea all of the investigative activity still under way at that point.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s office called the FBI on Oct. 31 asserting that it had heard from an FBI agent who raised concerns that the matter was being covered up or not being taken seriously.
Those who know the two women at the center of General David Petraeus' affair scandal are speaking out. Jill Kelley's brother says she is "dedicated" to her husband, while Paula Broadwell's friend calls her "a pretty great person." NBC's Kristen Welker reports.
"I was contacted by an FBI employee concerned that sensitive, classified information may have been compromised and made certain (FBI Director Robert) Mueller was aware of these serious allegations and the potential risk to our national security,” Cantor said in a statement.
Cantor's office was told that the case was being actively investigated by the FBI, and so it would have been wrong for the FBI or Justice Department to inform higher-level officials in the administration about the probe earlier -- because they were unsure at that point what they were dealing with. In the end, according to multiple officials, investigators determined there was no criminal wrongdoing.
The agent provides yet another link to Kelley, who has become a central figure in the scandal that led to the resignation of Petraeus over his affair with Broadwell: Her complaint to the FBI kicked off the investigation, and her emails with another major military figure, Gen. John Allen, have led to an investigation over allegations of “inappropriate” emails between Allen and Kelley. Allen replaced Petraeus as commander in Afghanistan last year.
The emails between Allen and Kelley do not signify the two had an affair, a defense official told NBC News on Tuesday. “There was no affair,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The emails in question could be misconstrued, the official said, predicting that the investigation will prove Allen’s innocence.
NBC News justice correspondent Pete Williams contributed to this report.
Ret. Col. Jack Jacobs weighs in on the scandal that has ensnared former CIA chief David Petraeus and Gen. John Allen, telling TODAY's Savannah Guthrie that Allen has a stellar career and great reputation but he "wouldn't be surprised" if his NATO nomination was withdrawn.

And so the plot thickens....
Oh, so you can identify Petraeus and Allen, but you can't identify the shirtless FBI agent? Ridiculous !
Are they going through the FBI agent's private emails? I hope so, they seem to be going through everyone elses.
"The agent’s supervisors felt he was infatuated with Kelley"
I guess he wasn't the only one. I wonder why she is so popular?
Another smitten peckerhead added to the story... it is now a regular soap opera...
It is getting worse and worse. This will go down as "WeinerGate".........
What is so damned funny is this Kelley woman and the infatuated FBI agent are both Republicans and have publicly expressed their dislike of President Obama. It looks like they were trying to manufacture an October Surprise to damage the Presidents re-election. It FAILED, as most republican generated scandals do and it has come to HAUNT the two people who started it like a boomerang. LOL Now we find out the woman Kelley was having her OWN inappropriate affair with another General. I really hope this RUINS Kelley's life as she tried to ruin the Presidents.
. . . and if someone sent a screenplay to a producer with all of this it would be tossed as "too over the top. No one will buy the plot!" It may work with porn. Probably being produced as porn as I'm posting.
Word on the street must be she rocks in bed! Whatever the case may be, she's taking a lot of powerful men down. I bet Playboy will be calling soon to offer her a million dollars for a spread.
And, we think guns and bombs are powerful... The "P" is the most powerful thing known to man!
I would not be surprised if this Kelly turns out to be a Russian spy... from Russia with love...
It's computer day at the nuthouse again!
Sandy, FBI, Secret Service and CIA employees aren't allowed to contribute to political parties. Also, they have any party affiliation removed from their voter status upon accepting employment with those enforcement services. So unless you were looking over their shoulder the day they voted (if they voted) you have no idea what their political affiliation is, was or will be in the future.
They should block the blogospheres from patients in the psycho wards of hospitals!
"I did not have sex with that woman!"
Bill Clinton
There should be a "Clinton Clause" that allows govenment employees to act like pigs whenever the mood strikes.
Dawg, start researching and you will find that you are wrong on so many levels. Just because someone isn't allowed to contribute doesn't mean they don't espouse support in a political even tacitly. If you think otherwise then you are being very naive. And it doesn't prevent an FBI agent that supports the republican agenda from doing things to try and embarrass the other side by abusing his position as an FBI agent. And SHE is an avowed republican and attended many republican support functions. Get out of your bubble.
Mata Hari had nothing on these two.
Sandy, quit pretending to be Sherlock Holmes, you sound like a moron. Your theory of some grand scheme to tarnish the Pres is rediculous.
It seems this is officially a circus.
Worse than women! It's really none of your business is it?
Sandy,
So how does Broadwell and her threatening emails work into your conspiracy theory?
Sandy, I'm going to tell you something that will blow your mind... Ready!
Military men and women come from all races, religions, economic and (drum roll please) political backgrounds. She was a "social coordinator" undoubtedly she came into contact with military personel who may call themselves Republicans as well as military personel who may call themselves Democrats. Did she throw a Republican military party for men and women of the armed forces???
Hell, NO!
I was in the service and I can tell you there is NO Young Army Republican Club or NO Young Navy Democrat Club!
Until you present evidence that this relatively obscure person was at rallys and contributed money to Republicans, it appears that she was guilty only of chasing Old Generals around!
This is the same @!$%# that went around about Monica Lewinsky when her name first surfaced during the Bill Clinton scandle. She wasn't a Republican either!
NEXT!
The agent was not identified by the FBI, but Sandy knows he's a Republican who has expressed his dislike of Obama? Please.
Sandy - they had an on-line affair in an attempt to embarrass Obama?! congrats on winning the crazy conspiracy of the week award! Your prize is a year's supply of STFU.
Holy crap, did you see the size of that rock on her left hand?
Sandy, Missouri,
I just want to remind you that we in Missouri did NOT vote for Obama this time or in 2008. He lost by more votes this round than he did 4 years ago.
Have a nice day. ;)
So, why go running to Cantor. Who the heck is he to be told? Sounds to me like Sandy is right. Make trouble wherever possible, even something as dumb as this.
"They should block the blogospheres from patients in the psycho wards of hospitals!"
That would unfairly limit access for the Tealiban Party.
Sandy, Missouri.........
Do you have any references supporting your contention that Jill Kelley is a republican whose motive (for outing Petraeus) was to embarrass President Obama?
DAWG POUND........
Jill Kelley seems to be little more than a (high class) groupie. Her and her husband's particular obsession seems with the political and military elite.
Apparently, the Kelley's routinely are in debt default attempting to maintain themselves within the social elite. Jill energetically seeks publicity at every opportunity and has appeared on televised reality shows.
It is more likely she is politically promiscuous rather than partisan since the guests lists of functions she either hosted or attended include both democrats and republicans. The common denominator is fame and power.
It is highly unlikely she was actually moved to fear by the emails received from Broadwell. More likely is a calculation that, if she could instigate and become a player in a national sex scandal, she could parlay that into wealth and fame. So far (unfortunately), she appears to be succeeding.
This affair simply confirms what has been known throughout history and is certainly true today: Those who have fame and/or fortune are both targets of those who seek it and often easily manipulated by them through appeals to vanity.

Family: Scandal will brand Jill Kelley "for life"? What? She maybe branded but she's about to hit the jackpot!
So many things to comment on.
1. @nc-492358,While the President didn't win Mo. 44.3% of voters in Mo. voted for him.Show some respect for over 4 out of 10 of your fellow citizens.
2. Sandy isn't making anything up.It's been reported on the news several times these last couple of days, that this agent and Kelley were Republicans. And that she had many contacts in the Republican Party in Florida. There was a report on MSNBC yesterday that thought he went to "Republican" HOR members because he wanted to speed the investigation. And for a scandal to come out before the election to embarrass the President.
Now its way to early to know all the facts yet (if we ever do). But this story so far,is beginning to smell like political dirty tricks.Nobody thinks the affair in itself was made-up. Its the taking advantage of the situation to score political points, that is not looking good for the Republicans here. What reason would a non-partisan FBI agent have to go to Republican HOR members.Over the heads of his bosses and the chain of command and divulge details of an FBI investigation. Not just any HOR members, mind you.But members from the opposition party. No CT here, just facts that need to be explained.
Dawg Pound, the fact that the FBI agent went to Eric Cantor when he felt that the investigation was not raising enough attention strongly indicates where his political allegiance lies. Eric Cantor is not even his congressman if he lives in Tampa. The only reason for going to Cantor is because he knew Cantor would try to cause problems for the President.
Wasn't "Desperate Housewives" canceled by ABC or just moved to Florida?
Maybe they'll find out where the missing Billions went from the Iraq war.
power=sex, politics=sex, money=sex; from now on only promote very ugly, non sexual, persons to high office; that would cure the problem that has been around since Eve told Adam to eat this.
This is funny. There's about a 95% percent probability that Sandy's right and part of what she's saying has already been reported. All the cut/pasted rules and regulations in the world won't change that. And dawg/ducky whoever, your having been in the military has nothing to do with anything.
Dude, nobody but a semi-psychotic teabugger would contact Cantor about anything.
The whole story is a tempest in a pink pot. The only surprising thing about it is that Cantor did for a while what the FBI told him: to keep quiet about ongoing investigations in which no case has been proved or even brought.
Hahaha and now "The FBI agent" takes off his shirt!
Psst I hate to tell you NBC (as if you really didn't know) but as I said the Benghazi-Gate Scandal just keeps getting bigger and better everyday (just like Watergate)!
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain....

Now doesn't that sound just like Barrack Obama doesn't it!
Emails on 'coming and goings' of Petraeus, other military officials escalated FBI concerns...ISAF commander Gen. John Allen under investigation over 'inappropriate' emails...Infidelity, intrigue and politics: a timeline of the David Petraeus case
And that's just from today on Obama's Corporate Controlled News Media Outlet. Everyone else in the World is having a "Field Day" at Our Expense!
So you have to "Wonder" when the rest of these other Agents, Directors, Generals & Admirals are going to start "Spilling Dirt" on the Corrupt Politicians in DC and quit supporting their Oligarch Robber Baron Masters on Wall Street instead of trying to maintain the Corrupt Political Status Quo in America!
It's a "Free For All" Folks and as American Patriots we need to be encouraging everyone of "Them" both Left & right to "Spill It All" and let "God" and the "American People" sort out the truth!
Speaking of which watch a "True American Hero" and "General" speak out against the cause and results of these "Crimes"! Then watch a new PBS Documentary outlining the details.....Afterwards come back and tell US who is really Left or Right Guilty or Innocent!

We have surrendered Our Children's Freedom and Liberty for the Imaginary Nonsense of their "Safety"! It is time to "Wake Up" and start the "Impeachments & Prosecutions"!
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever." !George Orwell, 1984
WTF?!?!? Does the "U" in MUW stand for unhinged?
30,000 pages of e-mail!? Can dirty talk take up so much room?
No worries, sandy. Uncle Bob has the right of it (post #1.26). Don't listen to Dawg Pound, who is only interested in the sound of his own typing. You go, girl!
Oh, what tangled webs we weave.......
AgnosticNChicago U? Why it stands for the Geek word of NONE-U-YA!
But since you obvio-U-sly are U-nable to U-nderstand or U-nwilling to act-U-ally ask or post a intelligent response I g-U-ess we will j-U-st have to leave y-U-o to yo-U-r own q-U-estion...U-ntil the next time that is!
"Perhaps one did not want to be loved so much as to be understood." ~George Orwell, 1984
This is getting asinine! So I guess if you're at the beach and someone wants to take my photo, I better put a shirt on first!
Stop wasting taxpayers money on this. Some guy cheated on his wife and another guy sent some emails joking with a woman friend of his and another women is all bent out of shape over it all (I guess because she wasn't getting any) and talks to an FBI friend of hers who earlier emailed her a photo of him not wearing a shirt - WHO FREAKING CARES! Let the wives smack their husbands and the girl friends smack their boy friends and keep our tax dollars out of it. It will all work itself out in the end with there own personal law suits and divorces and whatever!
I'm sorry TheKhanKubla but if the Agent "Investigating a Complaint" sent a "Shirtless" picture of himself to a alleged Victim / Witness of a Crime that is inappropriate behavior at the minimum and could be considered "Witness Tampering" or "Bribing an Officer" depending on what was found to be the cause!
Irregardless you have to admit it makes another "Interesting" foot note in the on-going saga of perversion betrayal and deceit of "Obama's" Benghazi- Gate!
“The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” ~George Orwell, Animal Farm
I'm so confused... I need a glass of wine and some chocolate to follow this soap opera..
Regarding Kelley: what is a "social liason with the community"? what do these volunteering people do? Her brother says she is fully committed to her three children....does a mother of three have time to volunteer "socializing" with generals?....sounds more like her "socializing" was taking care of other matters. This looks more like an episode of the "Real Housewives"...people with very strange moral standards.
@MUW - Admit it, you didn't read the article:
"The agent sent Kelley a photo of himself with no shirt, "as a joke, a gag" at least six months before she began receiving the troubling emails, the official said."
They were friends, this happened before she was a victim. She and the FBI agent were friends. So how does sending a photo of yourself to a friend, shirtless or not, constitute inappropriate behavior? Wouldn't that be up to the woman who received the photo to determine? And, it seems she had no problem with that photo because she didn't report it and THIS is the FBI agent she decided to contact in the first place. Plus, this agent passed her complaint on to others and is not a part of the investigation.
This whole thing has become an Out-Of-Control Witch-Hunt where our tax dollars are being tossed down a bottomless pit!
I vote it becomes a requirement for all posters here to include a "shirtless
picture" of themselves before posting comments.
That should significantly cut down on the amount of chatter?
Ps.... FBI agents also welcome.
Hmm OK a "Joke and and Gag" is that your "spin Kuba?
Then he just "Decided" on his own to "Personally" investigate General Petraeus just for "Giggles" and to make a "Pretty Gilr Friend Happy? Do you have ANY idea of following "Proper Procedures" in such an event?
And around and around they go blowing smoke up every whole, the more the truth comes out the more Bizarre the Obama Supporters excuses become!
BTW yes I did "Read The Article" I just didn't believe the "Hogwash" unlike some left to be unmentioned!
This woman should be named Circe.
PS News-vine whacked part of my response....So allow me to add to Kubi-Con...Even NBC can't smooth over this wave, here is their "Latest". What is that like 6 or 7 stories on Benghazi-Gate today?
http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/11/13/15137267-first-thoughts-like-sands-through-the-hourglass?lite
Hahaha and assuredly this "Scandal" is only going to get better (or worse)!
“Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind. ” ~ George Orwell
@MUW - as confusing as this case is, at least I have the story straight. It is NOT my spin on it - it is what the article states. HE "this FBI agent" didn't just decide to "Personally" investigate anyone. Kelley contacted HIM "this FBI agent" and HE "this FBI agent" passed the information up to his boss "some other FBI agent" who began the investigation "some other FBI agents" and which HE "this FBI agent" IS NOT a part of. During this investigation, the FBI investigation team NOT INCLUDING "this FBI agent" found an email that HE "this FBI agent" sent to HIS "this FBI agent's" friend "Kelley" SIX MONTHS prior to HER "Kelley" contacting HIM "this FBI agent" about all of this mess and THAT Email contained the photo of HIM "this FBI agent" shirtless. So NOW, the FBI is trying to decide if an email photo HE "this FBI agent" sent to HIS "this FBI agent's" friend "Kelley" SIX MONTHS AGO and which SHE "Kelley" had no problem with, is inappropriate.
This really isn't like a Soap Opera, because with Soap Operas, you can miss watching a show for a few years and it only takes minutes to catch back up.
Time to call in the stain specialist, Ken Starr.
Ms. Kelly looks like one of those slutty "Real Housewifes of TAMPA!"
ich.
No problem when this left wing news agencies of Obama's get done spinning this you'll feel better not knowing the truth. NBC's new motto is long live SOCIALISM long live out leader Obama.
i have had many relationshops in my life (60 + years) and never have i sent a shirtless photo to ANYONE!!!
it was a ''gag, a joke''. really??? post the photo/s and we (the tax payers) will tell you just how funny it is. or isn't.
and who exactly is this joker, anthony weiner's brother????
heaven help us all!!!!
almost as ridiculous as the right wing "obama did it" conspiracy theories...
More soap opera to turn the page from the Benghazi disaster.
Mouses are running inside the White House but according to the Secretary of Press they are not aware of it even he has a mouse running under his pant.
Have they not heard the adage that when you live in a glass house don't throw stones?
Although many people are wondering what were these generals thinking, I have 2 words for you: MILF Twins. Then the one gets into with Broadwell and since the blood is already missing from their brains (because it's been diverted elsewhere temporarily), they start thinking we'll get them together to fight it out and maybe, if we play our cards right, everybody will kiss and make up at the end. It really is that simple.
do i have this right?
the repubs were playing dirty tricks and so they killed one of their very best possible future condidates to do this?
----------
i'm no repub but this doesn't even sound resonable. only unless you got about 10 of the dumbest people to all connect together, all at once. and this just isn't very likely! now is it?
Is it just me, or does it seem like there is no need for probable cause to go through private emails.
"Oh, there might be a possibility of something"....is that all you need?
It is not just you, that is a great question. In addition, I am also very concerned about the FBI snooping the head of the CIA, given the past history of those two agencies. I want to know who gave the ok the do it, and I want to know who else was in on that decision. It seems to me that the AG should have been in on it, if he wasn't.
It is beginning to look like Broadwell is unstable, which is a bit worrisome for someone so close to the head of the CIA. But it also looks like our shirtless FBI guy is unstable, which I find even more worrisome, since these guys - who have all of our personal information at their fingertips - are supposed to be serious. This affair makes me a little uneasy.
The cat's out of the bag on the big players anyway, so I think I really would like to get to the bottom of this one, salacious or no. A decade after the reorganization of our security teams, I'd like to know how they operate in relation to each other, what the rules are - at least in their minds. I'm not sure I'm going to like what comes to light.
Welcome to the Patriot Act!
Kelley ASKED for her emails to be investigated by the FBI, and so they did.
Eventually, through the use of the IP addresses, they were traced to a person who was making the same movements (including hotel stays) as someone connected to Petraeus-- and who had hinted about Petraeus in the emails.
sending threatening emails is a federal crime. kelly ask the fbi to investigate. what more probabler cause do you need that the emails and the complaintant asking for an investigation
If that's true Conner, then why hasn't anyone been charged?
The email has to be a threat to kidnap or a threat to injure.
Furthermore, why one lady sent a threat to the other lady, how did they jump to looking through Patraeus's private emails?
Ms. Cantor thinks there might be a story here to make the President look bad and it should have been out before the election. Who the hell put Eric Cantor in office and why? Another day of getting nothing done. This is more important than our deficit and debt. Get rid of these @ssholes that don't know their jobs.
Some here seem unaware that, since 2004, both the director of the FBI and that of the CIA report to the Director of National Intelligence.
Thus, it is completely feasible that one agency (FBI) could be directed to surveil and investigate (even high) officials of the other (CIA).
It is unclear that such a directive was initially involved in this affair. However, it is probably safe to assume, the Director of National Intelligence is now deeply (and appropriately) involved.
conner, there weren't any threats. there was some jealousy, there was a bit of a hissy fit.
And to answer the OP, yes. That's all they need. That's all they'll ever need. And pretty soon they won't even need that. Carnivore will never die. Not even when they get around to calling it the Mother's Day American Heritage Database for Growth.
You have mis-stated the question. There is no such thing as private emails.
Ian Emdee,
The CIA has gone through several changes, most of them not good. This person who wrote this article thinks so. He was in the CIA for years.
http://www.ctcintl.com/harmed.html
Empress-409341.......
The article you refer is an opinion piece (no references) published by an organization (News Max) with a well known right-wing bias.
The gist of the article might be contained in its second paragraph: "Over the years, however, the CIA has been gutted by malicious personnel purges and misguided reorganizations."
It goes on to criticize the subordination of CIA to Director of National Intelligence (among other things). Of course, one must bear in mind the reasons (under the Bush administration), CIA and other agencies were subordinated. The intelligence failures which led to the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, are prominent among these (reasons). Anyone can find fault with the now subordinated CIA position. Others might think it best.
What relationship it (the article you referred) has to this scandal is unclear. The excellence (or lack thereof) of the CIA in performing its duties is not necessarily affected by the sexual misbehavior of its Director. However, if the intelligence failures leading to the murders at Ben Ghazi are your point, the command structure at the CIA is certainly fair game for criticism.
This is going to be huge there are probably dozens of people involved. Maybe they were all involved in a military swingers club? Just think of all that pillow talk!
MY thoughts exactly PMoscatelli. Thats the first thing i thought of when the articles explained that Jill Kelly and her rich surgeon husband, threw lavish parties for the military brass and that she hangs out with their wives, and that everyone is involved, the husbands, and the wives. I think that this woman Paula Broadwell might have been left out of the fun and games. we all know that a scorned woman is a very dangerous woman. It may be that the emails that Mrs. Kelly received may have been misinterpreted as intimidating and threatening may have just been warnings to cool it with the open flirting and that broadwell was just being protective of the generals reputation. Or it was just a scorned woman out for revenge like it looks like. who knows. all i know is that there is much more to this, and that its turned out to now be classified, as their is too much for the people in power to loose.
Swingers....you are probably not too far off. Years ago, my husband was stationed at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne WY. Nothing much to do there except ski. As young Lt. and Capts, we used to get together with friends at someone's home and have parties. One night, a couple of the guys threw their keys on the floor. What the heck? Apparently, the guys would grab a set of keys that did not belong to them and take the gal that went with that set of keys......to wherever they went!!
Then the joke was a true story. We were told that a few months earlier, the USAF had concluded an investigation to the "key parties". I had never heard of such a thing, this was supposedly between married couples, as consenting adults. I was young, a wife of only three years and I was almost needing a paper bag to breathe into.
People were tranferred and received letters of reprimand. The cause for concern: This was A Minuteman missle base and all these younger officers, sat in silos, with keys around their necks and launch codes.
Our medical records were stamped" Human Reliability Program" so if you saw a dr on base, and thought you were depressed....stuff happened to cover their asses on a diagnosis. If you were the wife, your husband's commanding officer was notified. Amazing Stuff....from back in 1974.
So none of this even surprises me. It seems lots more is yet to be uncovered. Gees, Jill must be one heck of a gal.
30,000 pages? Is that all they did every day, email? When did they have time to draw up battle plans and deployment numbers? If I typed all day and all night, I don't think I would have time to sleep. And this was only over a couple of years??? It this a Lifetime Movie?
I was thinking that too. 30,000 pages of emails?!? I wouldn't have time to do anything else if I was sending someone 30,000 pages of emails in a couple of years. I wonder how long it will take for people to realize that in this day and age anything you do or say is likely to end up on video somewhere, and any email you write or comment you post is public knowledge. No secrets any more. If you don't want the world to know, you'd better keep it to yourself.
General Allen is OUR employee. Can you even figure how long it takes to write/read/send 30,000,000 pages of emails. What the hell was happening to our troops while this guy ON OUR $ is sending hotsy emails? Fired w/o any benefits/money/retirement. He put every soldier lives in Afghanistan in danger with this crap. Treason? possibly.
THOUGHT-770948
WHO WANTS TO RIDE MY ROCKET TONIGHT???? anyone want to sit in my silo?????
how sexy can it get????? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
guess that sums it up! swingers parties were going on since the 50's that i know of.
and long before that considering how human we all are.
so what else is new??? guess the investigatory arm needs something to do to justify their worth/expense. so don't take what they say a face value. they have an ax to grind in all of this as well.
(I JUST WONDER IF ANYONE EVER SAW STARS EXPLODE OR WAVES CRASH DURING ALL OF THIS 'SEX'!
Do yo think they had sex in a tank? Would this be a general club, kinda like the mile high club?
I fear for the safety of the country when generals and CIA directors have time to send naughty emails. Do they not realize that anything sent over the web is not private...seriously ARE THEY THAT STUPID??? ARE THEY THAT BORED???
It's a troubling revelation that the FBI is investigating 20,000 to 30,000 pages of emails sent by Gen. Allen to Kelley in two short years. Seems Gen. Allen poorly utilized time and resources that should have been focused on managing military ops and troops. Seems like another change with the high command may be in the works.
30,000? Most certainly does sound like he had very little time for anything else. Hope the war didn't inconvenience him... (sarcasm)
Possibly middle-aged crises and that horny?
Averages to 35+ per day...sweet. She must have some hot box!
Where does it say, anywhere, that the emails were naughty.
It is reasonable to assume that "inappropriate" could easily mean "naughty".
if you look at gen david P and this broadwell babe (what an apt name?) they look very, very much alike.
just look at their faces. creepy weird!
but very much like mick jagger and bianca jagger!!
almost twins!!
guess it was inevitable! they really fell in love with------------------------- themselves!!!
Seems like Jill Kelley has woven multiple tangled webs. First with her links to Gen. Petraeus and now Gen. Allen. And how ironic she's the one who started the investigation and now the links in both cases lead back to her. Makes one wonder who else is next? Just wondering what's going through Kelley's brothers mind after he defended her as a devoted wife and mother. Seems her claims to family and friends about being loyal and devoted to her surgeon husband is a ruse -- yet another tangled web.
How do you figure? Every indication in the article is that this FBI Agent and possibly Allen were sending Jill Kelley inappropriate messages. How is this her shame?
Because Kelley apparently was sending BACK inappropriate emails to Allen and she NEVER complained to the FBI about the 30,000 documents she got from Allen. That just goes to show she LIKED the attention from Allen as this was happening for many, many YEARS.
Adam,
You better check up on your own wife or girlfriend, then, as you, friend, probably believe just about any lame excuse that she gives you.
MSNBCMFE - Not everyone is a cheater. Thanks for the warning though. Maybe you should be sure to tell your significant other that you'll likely be cheating in the near future and if she believes any lame excuse you give her she should kick your ass to the curb.
No Alias -
And random, different men send inappropriate e-mails to some lady for no reason at all, which she does not report to authorities because why?
Surgeons spend so much time at work...she must get awfully lonely.
What I find interesting is that the FBI agent called the leader (Cantor) of a political party instead of his superiors to inform him that the emails were not taken seriously. Why not take the information to the head of the FBI? He clearly had an agenda.
What's almost funny (if not so pathetic) was that he was too stupid to realize that the probe he prompted would link him to the shirtless photos of himself to Kelley. Dumber than a bag of hair!
@vera - And that he was apparently too stupid to realize that, in pushing his political agenda, he was violating his employer's rules and regs. Maybe he thought he could get a gig at Fox Spews after he got fired.
JIMD, why does eveything revert to fox news? Are you that simple? Can't you come up with something witty and new?
unreal, it didn't "revert." It was an hypothetical based on common republican practice. And what is "everything?" Can't you afford a little time learning to read?
Pure BEDLAM!
Emphasis on the BED part.
Military B()ners Standing Strong! It's part of the secret EMBOSS program you may have heard rumors about.
I LOVE this thing! It's the gift that keeps on giving!
Reminds me of line from a song of long ago: Limbo Rock - "How low can you go?"
A piece of advice, gentlemen: Keep the shirt on and the pants zipped.
What's next? The world waits with breath that is bated.
It makes you wonder whether there is a powerful man alive who hasn't used that power to seduce a young, attractive woman. We need more women in power. How many times have you heard of a powerful woman having dalliances with a young, handsome man? Not often!
helicohunter
Where have you been and where are you from. Anytime you become extremely sucessful and powerful, there is aways some little twit, that simply wants to get in bed with you. Usually, this turns out bad for the guy. Then, they souldn't be so dump as to unzip their pants.
This whole group of weirdos has entirely too much time on their hands. I think they all should be placed in a room without their laptops and cell phones and see who comes out shirtless!
I'm laughing my butt off over this one. Looks like the little meddler and her FBI agent friend got more than they bargained for! Poetic justice for those trying to cover their own indiscretions whiloe exposing those of others. Very petty, quite humorous, and decidedly unflattering for all involved.
The meddler is Kelley? Trying to investigate Petraeus for alleged misconduct is meddling? And what of the infatuated FBI agent sending Kelley a topless picture? That's her fault too.
Misogyny much?
Yes it is because the FBI agent sent the topless picture to her and then LATER Kelley contacts the SAME FBI Agent about the emails. So apparently she wasn't freaked out about the topless picture as she kept contact with the guy and even used him to report the emails after the topless picture was sent. She apparently LIKED the attention or she would have complained to the Agents superiors and then cut off all contact with him. SHE DIDN'T.
Adam, Kelley wasn't investigating Petraeus; she turned her emails over to the FBI to see who was emailing her (and it turned out to be Broadwell).
That's what exposed Petraeus.
Quit making excuses for Kelley; when it all comes out, the woman's likely behind all kinds of things.
Sandy,
SO? Kelley received threatening anonymous emails. She didn't know what was going on. She did the right thing in contacting the FBI!
I have had male friends come onto me before. I shot them down, politely, but still talk to them and hang out all the time. They are still my friends. Why would she cut off all contact with him?
I wonder if this was supposed to be Trump's October surprise? Someone in the party must have warned him off because it really has little to do with the Whitehouse, and more to do with the Pentagon and Langley. What happened at Benghazi?!!!...they were too busy chasing split-tail to deal with the situation on the ground. Trump...ha,ha,ha,...El Loco Hombre!
Trump...you're fired! Bwahahhahaha!
is this fbi jerkoff married?
after the weiner thing in new york not long ago i thought this shirtless thing would have died off. or are these guys so in love with themselves it just doesn't/can't.
or do most men think better with their pants off???? would love to attend another ''generals call''. in 1971 i didn't see gen westmoreland with his pants off or any bimbos hanging around. though a few of the general's aides seem a little limp in the wrist, as were a more than a few generals then, too. so maybe this is just the latest phase of ''don't ask, don't tell''. the straight version?
Beware the femme fatale! Remember the Russian spy babe? I imagine she could have gotten a lot of secrets between the sheets. It just seems that power males tend to lose their brains in situations like this. Maybe it's time for the women folk to take over the government.
(and yes I am a male saying this)
Women are taking over our government.
Okay, This Just In:
Jill Kelley is a 6, tops. Much ado about average-face.
Everyone wants to smoke some Lebanese.
Bow wow wow.
PS...the shirtless FBI agent is TOAST! Lol!
The field agent may receive a letter of some kind for inclusion in his personnel file for a year, but I don't see much more discipline coming his way for the topless photo, which was totally stupid for him to send, if the allegation is true.
Yes, toast.
Starting an investigation as a favor to a woman he'd been sending shirtless pictures to?
Anyone who's worked for the government in a sensitive position, should know better.
How about for leaking details of an on-going investigation to Cantor?
The discipline will be him getting bounced from the Bureau.
Cheating on a surgeon while doing the CIA director, FBI agent and a general...this ho likes the power stick!
Uh, read the article... you're confusing Broadwell with Kelley...
Slut shaming without any clue about what's actually going on...this Steveo has no idea what he's talking about.
They all do...
Kelley receives threats from Patreus' mistress because said mistress found inappropriate pics of Kelley with Patreus. FBI agent sends Kelley shirtless pics. Kelley found, through emails, to have affair with Allen. Please explain what I'm missing.
Kelley receives threats from Patreus' mistress because said mistress found inappropriate pics of Kelley with Patreus
Citation please. As I have read the mistress was sending threatening email to Kelley because of her investigation into Petreus.
FBI agent sends Kelley shirtless pics.
How does that implicate her in inappropriate behaviour? The article stated that the FBI agent had been infatuated with Kelley.
Kelley found, through emails, to have affair with Allen
Citation please. I have read that Allen is be investigated for inappropriate emails he's sent to Kelley. No where has it indicated that she reciprocated.
I feel your machismo has clouded your judgement as you have accused one women of being a ho while not mentioning the the indiscretion of 3 different men.
Steveo-2875317 - I think the only other relevant part so far is that Jill Kelley's family is from Lebanon, which could be compromising in itself [maybe]. Either way, I can't wait for the Lifetime Movie version!!
Adam, please read the other articles about this case. This started over a picture that Broadwell found of Kelley's hand on Petreus' knee under a table. FBI..I'm pretty sure that if I'm texting a chick pictures of myself shirtless, that this relationship would be more than that of just a friend. It has been stated of finding 20-30k emails between Kelley and Allen consisting of flirting and showing an affair was going on. Why don't you read a little more before calling me machismo? I'm not saying these men are saints. I am just saying this woman seems to be getting around with 2 or 3 powerful men outside of her marriage.
No Alias Adam,
Don't be a tard! No man (outside of a mental ward) ever sent a woman 30,000 pages of unwanted communications. 30,000 pages over 2 years by definition means that she reciprocated. No citation needed.
An FBI agent send this same woman shirtless pics of himself. If they were unwanted advances, why would this woman go back to that agent to help investigate the threats? No citation needed.
I'm just glad that somehow Cantor is involved. That just makes this thing more juicy. I can't wait until shirtless pictures of Mitch McConnell show up on Kelly's phone. And then to round things off, we find out that Kelly's Dr husband has been having an affair with Hamid Karzai. Ooo la la!
Hmmnnn... Eric Cantor's office... A little behind the scenes Republican shenanigans trying to dig up some dirt on the Administration...but now the blowback....pure comedy...
Please summarize the "blowback" for those of us too stupid to immediately discern it!!
CME - If you can't or are unwilling to see it, I'm not sure a summary will help you. Cantor can't go to the toilet without politicizing the event.
the repubs are about as dead in the water as they can be. who are they going to trot out against hillary? they haven't a chance, who ever it is.
the repubs can't turn that ship around in 4 years or even 8! time for a new party. forget the repubs! just slather some jelly over it, as they are toast!
white, rye or whole wheat. they are toast!!! and crumbs, one and all.
paul, have you looked at hillary lately? on a scale of of 1 to 10, she has a minus in front of the number. Hell, even Bill would't tap that. But then again, I guess she is really a 10 after hearing about her husband and a young lady, playing with a cigar in the oval office and then doing nothing about it. Kinda like what happened in libya, She could care less.
@Eric. The only probable cause we needed is for Broadwell started shooting off her mouth about prisoners being held in Benghazi while speaking at a college in Denver. She obviously had far too much information/mis-information for her pay grade. Now we know how she got it. Excuse me if I am missing something but, are any of these women hot babes?
I saw a clip of Broadwell speaking in Denver. That was quite a performance. Broadwell certainly elevated her status and was patently enjoying some sort of ego gratification. If Petraeus saw a clip of that performance, he had to know he was toast.
Massacre? What we did in Iraq and are doing in Afghanistan are the real massacres, not the four killed in the retaliatory violence in Libya. I don't see you screaming about those massacres committed at the hands of Americans (especially Halliburton and associates.)
WOW who bit you? I can hear you from wherever you are. Do you really think any words would convince you that the President and Democrats in the WH and anyone in charge is not guilty of some rogue cover up? Why don't you go ahead and get the kindlin on the fire started because you are going to explode your mind using words like "catfight, torrid affairs, conveniently unavailable, coverup, count on it, hot babes, stupid generals, mask the truth". Chill out and wait for real information not what you are reading in rag mags, blogs and e-mails. If you distrust and are so afraid of this country I suggest you start packing because people are going to put you in a jacket until you make some sense and speak of what you REALLY know for FACTS and can collaberate your sources. I mourn for Mr Stevenson but I also mourn for all our men who we lost in the stupid Irag and desert storm wars. Do you really think your abusive rhetoric is really helping or promoting a faster solution. Not I
People were porbably dieing faster in Astan prior to our involvement there.
Those people are not happy unless they are killing some other poor bastard over some trivial issue.
Hey, trouble, I'd bet if there was an article about the Obama's adopting a stray cat from the pound, some right wing troll would make a post about Benghazi. Here's an idea - try to stay on topic.
But, since you brought it up, how much crap do you think you folks will sling before you give up on this nonsense? It does appear, to tie the two things together, that there was an attempt by the right to use this as something to blame Obama for. It obviously didn't work, and the really interesting thing is that everybody involved in this appears to actually be Republican. As for the FBI agent (who is apparently fervently ant-Obama), he should lose his job. Forget the inappropriate behavior in connection with the woman; he abused his position in an apparent effort to frame Obama. In addition, Cantor should be, at the very least, censured for his activity in connection with this. The screwballs on the right continually try to blame Obama for dividing the nation, when it is apparent that the right spends every waking minute trying to "get" Obama. Cantor and his ilk, including Issa, seemingly forgot that they have real jobs to do and those jobs do NOT include being the schoolyard bullies.
Grow up.
I believe it was the Obama Administration that knew early on that the attack on and murder of US citizens in Libya was a terrorist attack, yet it spent more than a week publicly blaming the attack on some obscure internet video. How's that for "dividing the Nation." This matter diverts focus from what's really important. Would appear to be in the interest of the Administration to feed this story line and keep the spotlight off of the real story -- Benghazi. Hilary Clinton says it was her responsibilities, so that's hear her story at a congressional hearing.
Actually, this is yet another of the lame attempts to attack Obama. The State Department, as well as OUR intelligence and THEIR intelligence initially believed that it was in connection with the video, which is odd, isn't it, given that so many other demonstrations in the region WERE CONNECTED TO THE VIDEO (which was far from obsure...trying to make yourself look stupid?). Of course, you might know that if you bothered to actually do some research instead of just parroting right wing tripe.
Again, the administration is not the ones that are pushing this narrative. It is the media, Republican leaders, and folks like YOU that are. But people like you have the gall to insinuate that Obama is dividing the country. It would be funny if it all weren't so tragic.
The REAL story is the continual lame attempts by people like you that put ideology above country.
@trouble - Dude, your boldface stupidity is still stupidity. The health care policies you vote for out kill over 20,000 americans yearly. Stick your phony morality up your lower bowel.
CME The White House and the State Dept knew what the intelligence agencies were telling them. I did not hear the CIA come out early on this and say that Benghazi was actually was mostly a CIA station. When the CIA finally says something to the press it is that the CIA thought that state Dept was ultmitely in charge of security. Anywho the acting director of the CIA will testify as to what the CIA knew and when they knew it. Can you wait for the facts to comeout or just drink the Faux news Kool Aid and talk conspiricies.
Rancho Mirage, does that name mean you really aren't here? If you believe all that crap you just spewed, then you are the one drinking kool aid and you have been watching way to much CNN. I would hate to live in your world.
Trouble 1954 - you mean like the Bush administration had to answer for the 3000 killed on 9/11 - on our soil?. Why were those jug-heads given a free ride on something they had plenty of warning on, but Obama must be roasted over an open pit for this tragic attack on Americans.
My god, do you RWNJ have to politicize everything. WE (collective Americans) were attacked. Stand up for your COUNTRY for god's sake, NOT your PARTY!
unreal, you failed miserably to come up with something witty and new.
I have some secrets, and a camera, maybe I can get in on this action...
30,000 pages of emails to his lady friend? Sounds like the general was really concentrating on the war.
30,000 emails, sounds like more than friends. I have been married almost 25 years, I don't think I have even sent 5 emails to my husband!
Depends on how many of those pages were attached documents of fund raisers and such. It is content that matters, not quantity.
Is it just a coincidence that there is a porn star named Jill Kelly?
No one here follows porn but you and General Allen.
I don't know about you but it makes me feel so much better to think that we are lead and protected by a bunch of imbeciles with too much power. I guess they are entitled to privacy as well as others but they should keep their privacy private. It's as if they can't help but playing with fire. Intelligence? certainly, wise? not. I supposed they make the same mistakes as most people do.
Wouldn't it be a hoot if her main squeeze is the pool boy?
I wonder why Mrs. Kelley would contact the inappropriate FBI agent about her harassing emails. Why not pick....well, just about anyone else?
Hmmm ... it would appear that all that (Republican) clamoring about a FBI "whistleblower" and cover-up will have to be watered down, since said "whistleblower" is actually on the wrong-side of the ethical line ... Wonder how Cantor/Reichert et al will spin their way out of this one?
ang
I didn't see that one coming, but I finally get it. If you do something wrong and get caught, simply blame it on a republican. Then all is well and you can just keep on being a crook. While we are talking about spinning, how is obama going to spin his actions or rather his lack of action in libya? How about spinning why he didn't tell us about the incident with iran and them shooting at a US aircraft when it happened? The list goes on and on and you can laugh and spew crap, but everything I just wrote about is true and you know it!
So, we have a rogue FBI agent, started an investigation on his own, because kelly was recieving disturbing e-mails from an unknown source, then he sent some shirtless photos to this kelly lady, for whatever reason. Then he call canter and told him, he was concerned because the investigation was not going fast enough.....my question is, why would he call canter and tell him anything at all? , canter has nothing to do with it...or do he? This sound like somebody is trying to smear the career of two generals, one retired and one still active. It's going to be interesting to see how deep this rabbit hole goes, and they WILL get to the bottom of it.
Maybe Canter was on Kelly's list as well? Just kidding
Well... at least now I know why nothing ever gets done...
Everyone is just too busy hanky-panky-ing and sending emails.
