Police say the deaths of five people in Toledo, Ohio, could be the result of intentional carbon-monoxide poisoning. The family members were in the midst of a bitter custody dispute. TODAY's Natalie Morales reports.
Caught up in a family disagreement over who should care for three young children, their grandmother and uncle barricaded themselves and the kids in a garage and filled it with deadly carbon monoxide gas. All five died.
Police spent Tuesday trying to explain the heartbreaking scene discovered a day earlier at the home of 54-year-old Sandy Ford and her son Andy in a quiet Toledo neighborhood.
Firefighters using a sledgehammer and broke down the garage door to find the bodies of 5-year-old Madalyn Hayes, her 6-year-old brother, Logan, and 10-year-old sister, Paige, slumped inside a car, along with their grandmother and uncle. Two hoses attached to the exhaust of a pickup truck pumped gas fumes through the car's rear window.
Police said letters inside the house indicated the woman and her son plotted the murder-suicide, beginning by picking up the children from school Monday morning after their mother had dropped them off earlier.
They also had disabled the garage door opener and nailed plywood over the windows, said Toledo police Sgt. Joe Heffernan. He wouldn't say what was in the letters, but it appeared some were written by the children.
Police: Deaths of five in Toledo, Ohio garage could be murder-suicide
"We're trying to figure out all the why's in this," he said.
Authorities were called to the home by the children's frantic grandfather after he discovered the letters and was unable to force open the garage door. Despite the grisly scene, investigators found no signs the children were forced into the car and believe all five died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Until last week, the children had spent the last three years living with their grandparents, Sandy and Randy Ford, and their uncle at the house in a residential neighborhood close to the Michigan state line.
Their mother, Mandy Hayes, had asked her mom for help caring for the three children because a fourth child at the home was becoming disruptive, said children's services representatives and a family friend.
"She was just being protective," said the friend, Cammie Turner.
While the children were living with their grandparents, their parents saw them almost every day and went on outings to parks and the zoo, Turner said.
"Their kids mean everything to them," she said.
But recently Hayes had decided they should all return home, and the children moved back in with their parents last week, upsetting Hayes' mother, Turner said.
"Mandy wasn't taking the kids away from her entirely," she said. "She wanted them home. It wasn't like she was taking them and grandma could never see them again."
Turner said Hayes had confided that her mother was controlling, but she never seemed alarmed by it.
"It doesn't make sense," she said. "I can't imagine. To have your mom ..."
Police were at the house last week and children's services workers met with both sides of the family, most recently on Saturday, said Dean Sparks, executive director of Lucas County Children Services.
"We only know that there were a lot of allegations back and forth," he said, adding that Sandy Ford was worried about placing her grandchildren back in the home with their 9-year-old brother, who had been disruptive in the past.
But the agency had no authority to decide who should keep the children, Sparks said, and the parents had every right to bring them back into their home.
Turner said she never saw any indication of a strained relationship between Hayes and her mother, and they never went to court over the issue of custody.
Family members declined to comment.
Doug Hall, a neighbor who lives across the street, said he often saw the children with their uncle, raking leaves or shoveling snow. He said the only unusual thing he noticed was a police car at the house last Thursday. He said he didn't know why it was there.
Neighbors said the family spent a lot of time together and that the Fords had put in a swimming pool this summer for the children.
Another neighbor said he saw the kids playing in the leaves just a few days ago.
"One minute they're doing the leaves, and then the next there are cop cars all over," Eric Pieper said.

selfish folks. Should have just offed themselves and then if they still had the energy they can go back for the others.
Does this crap happen in other countries like it does here? How can you kill innocent children??? Americans have become so selfish it is unbelievable. Yes, stuff the exhaust hose down your throats, but leave the kids alone.
Its the entitlement culture - in the past, people would sacrifice more and would come to terms with the fact that not everything is going to go 100% the way they need it to so that they could pursue their idea of happiness.
Now, we are so entitled that when it doesnt go a certain way, people lose their sh!t, cant cope and will do ridiculous things to make themselves "happy" .. hence all the child murders, pedophiles, sexual assaults, workplace shootings, etc. We've become a bunch of babies that cant bear to hear "no" or deal with certain situations.
Ah!!! More top notch writing and editing by our reporters. The third graders must be off work today.
How does a mother and her son start such a conversation? This is bananas! RIP little ones. :(
It seems like there are some people who cannot accept NOT getting their way all the time.
I can think of allot of people to tag with this line.....
Compromise - its not a bad word.
wtf, Al718? The crime rate has gone down dramatically since its peak 20 years ago, violent crime especially. And even in the worst economic crisis in 80 years it hasn't risen significantly. By your logic America had a worse 'entitlement culture' 50 years ago. and the lady who killed the kids and uncle is dead, so I doubt she's all that happy.
The worst part is when children are involved and people behave this way under the guise of "doing what is best for the kids". Bull$h!t! You are doing what you feel like and trying to justify it through false rationale. It doesn't take a moron to know that living with their mom is always better than oblivion. That shouldn't just be directed at the dead grandma, but ALL parents involved in a custody battle.
There had better be an apocolyptic event occuring that invokes massive suffering before anyone thinks a child is better off dead vs anything else. Otherwise the thought alone proves that person (mom, dad, grandparent, uncle, etc) isn't fit to care for a child!!!
Same goes for that man who shot up a salon and killed his ex wife about a year ago. It would only take an incredibly selfish person to think that practically making his child an orphan would be better than losing custody.
If winning is more important to you than a child's happiness, then you don't deserve kids!!!!
The Grandmother and Uncle are mental spoiled Brats. Plain and simple.
If I can't have any, nobody can. I just cannot understand how they even pondered up such a scheme and then said "YEAH! THAT'S IT!" Like mother like son.
Anyone who sits down with their sibling and figures out how they can kill themselves along with children has got to be mentally ill and it's obvious that it ran in this family.
Grandma and Uncle, bet you could use a nice cooling off down there in Hell. Pffft! You made your beds and now have to sleep in it for eternity. Maybe all the toxic fumes from the exhaust left in your systems will also help you both combust a little easier...
RIP little innocent angels.
It's called MENTAL ILLNESS. This has nothing to do with not accepting no...mental illness is STILL a taboo in this country..until, of course, something like this happpens. Then everyone says how they should have been helped...
@Common Sense-2004266
Stuff like this and worst has happened all over the world throughout human history. The difference is we have digital media now and are bombarded with news like this all the time because sensationalism attracts people to read news stories.
On topic: The grandmother and uncle should be raised from the dead and beaten to death for this all over again. Unfortunately that can't happen. But we can dream...
It's a very bad idea to give anyone temporary custody of your children. They become emotionally attached and very protective of the children. They fear the day that the parents decide to take the kids back. The heartache and misery they feel drives them to irrational thought and deed.
The letters from Grandma and Uncle will explain their actions were in the best interest of the children. They will claim to have sacrificed themselves out of love for the children.
I think you're oversimplifying things a bit. Surely, these people were quite troubled (and that goes without saying). But, to simply call this a "mental illness" is facetious. Mental Illness is not like the Chickenpocks, it doesn't just spring up and infect the next closest person to you. This grandmother and her grandson, separated by two full generations, just happened to wake up one day completely mental?
They went off the deep end, for sure, but let's use some common sense when diagnosing and throwing terms around like words don't matter. They do.
Take Creek Dog for example. He "literally" believes these two are now roasting in hell ... serving a divine punishment because of their deed. I guess his god is powerless in stopping tragedy, yet quite found of punishing those that create it.
Yup, that sounds like a perfect, all-knowing, loving father-figure to me?
Yeah, just kidding.
Actually, that kind of reasoning sounds quite mental to me. But, there's strength in numbers, you see. He's not crazy, because his beliefs are popular.
"Religion, gives permission to masses of sane people to believe what only a crazy person would believe on their own."
Its the entitlement culture
Friggin idiot political crap on such a sad day take it and shove low life!
Such a sad day for all. The story does not even begin to explain the why in this as they say they still have not gotten to the bottom of it all. Thoughts and prayers for all involved
Wow, and to think I thought stepmothers were wicked witches.

It's called MENTAL ILLNESS. This has nothing to do with not accepting no...mental illness is STILL a taboo in this country..until, of course, something like this happpens. Then everyone says how they should have been helped...
You hit the nail on the head my friend...
How do you know that Grandma Butcheress and Uncle Creepy were mentally ill? Because they did this? Maybe they were just plain evil. Neither of their corpses should be allowed a funeral. Instead, they should be placed in a dump and let nature take care of what's left of them.
People who murder with forethought, like these two vermin, do not need "help." They need to be exterminated.
Chad, you and the others that mock religion should at least try and learn something about it before you denigrate it. God did not make a perfect world for us. That was lost when Adam and Eve gave in to the temptations of the devil. What he did promise was a perfect place, heaven, for those who live their lives according to his teachings here on earth.
You people that say "Where is your God? Why isn't he stopping this pain, suffering or evil things that happen to people?" , remind me of the soldiers and others that were mocking Jesus as he was being crucified with the same kind of questions.
God didn't stop his son, Jesus, from the great suffering he experienced so why does anyone think he would stop anyone else from suffering.
And no, God doesn't help Tim Tebow or anyone else to win football games or the lottery or whatever else. When people like Tebow pray, they are praying for mental and spiritual strength, not for God to fix a football game.
I really don't care if you or anyone else believes in God or religion, but please try and learn something about it first before you mock it for something that's not even there in what he promised us. People like you remind me of some spoiled pampered kid who can't handle living in an imperfect world.
The article states the Grandmother was controlling - well, I'm divorcing control freak number 2 currently. You are either a team player who wants to share, or you are a control freak who wants only what they see as a rightful entitlement.
As an old point guard (in basketball) nothing brought me more pleasure than making a pass that resulted in an easy basket for a team mate - it's hard to make great passes when you are married to a ball hog.
In the movies, we grow closer to each other as we age - in reality we grow to resent everyone else.
We have a diva cat that constantly beats up our lovable cat (anybody want a cat that's a bitch?) - humans really are just animals.
Roodles; it is you that needs to learn the history of your religion. Jesus Christ said that if everyone were a Christian, that Earth would be a heavenly place - there was no outer space Heaven in his time - and the concept of Hell is a Catholic myth added 300 years after Christ in order to scare people toward religion...just thought you might like some facts to go with your faith.
I'm very spiritual - but my spirituality has no books or Gods - people like you mock my kind of spirituality all the time, passing judgement on my faith...what goes around comes around.
Good post JP.
@Roodles
Christians have done more damage to your religion than a billion atheists could ever do.
The world is imperfect. That's the whole point.
We can either be adults about the situation and make the best of our time (and our humanity), or we can go about the business of inventing and developing varying sects of competing faiths and religions that claim to know the answers before we even know which questions to ask.
Who's the "kid" in this scenario?
This is the one, singular thing that sucks about being an atheist.
These sick @!$%#s are dead, and they took three innocent children with them. They are gone, and that's it. They won't be punished in the afterlife. They won't be made to understand how absolutely sick and pathetic they are. They are just gone, and there's nothing anyone could have done to stop it. It really sucks, but that's what it is.
Live each day as if it's your last, and cherish the children that surround you. May they never experience the wickedness our species is so easily capable of.
There's nothing "wicked" about it is there? It's just survival of the fittest being displayed. Obviously we need to move towards genes that are able to utilize carbon monoxide in an attempt to adapt. All morals are relative so we can't condemn them. Under their moral code they did exactly what they believed was morally acceptable, which may be different from what you believe to be acceptable. There is no basis to determine right and wrong, so what they did is not "wicked," what they did just IS.
Congrats lee gotthardt, You have just WON the F'TARD of the Year AWARD.
I cant even comment due to how F'd up a comment you posted.
I'll bet you a million dollars that both the Grandmother and father were both religious people. Your attempt to sarcastically flip the script and portray atheists as ethical relativists has failed miserably. All you've shown is your sheer ignorance for what people like myself, who don't feel the need to believe in magical deities, really cherish and hold dear.
chad- that is the one nice thing about being a thiest is we know they were punished for taking the lives of the innocent children just not on earth because they killed themselves and were punished not on this plain of existance. Yes, our species is a wicked species because most don't fear anything. As one person said survival of the fittest and everyone else be damned. Many people wanted to claim us to be animals so, so be it they got their wish we are showing how primative and animalistic and selfish we are. Sad day for this family.
oh and a doubt they were real religious people at least not God fearing people or they would have not taken their life and the life of the children. Chad you need to actually take time to read the bible before making such a statement. Blasphemy is the only sin God does not have room to forgive which means going against the will of the holy spirit. Jesus stated 'But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he
were drowned in the depth of the sea.' Matthew 18:6. Which basically stating you hurt the innocent children you are in deep trouble. Also, when it comes to suicide runs on the same train God is not big on that one either and both go against the will of God so I woud say not God fearing folk.
Punished by whom? Your god? Why your god? Which version ... the version you just happened to have been indoctrinated to believe in? That's pretty convenient, eh?
I wonder what happens in other cultures with other beliefs? People with different god(s) than you?
"Most"?
Aren't you Christians usually exclaiming passionately about how you're the majority? It seems you are the "most," so I fail to grasp your logic there. Crime rates, poverty, teenage pregnancy (porn consumption) ... these are epidemic in the Red States that run through the Bible Belt. I think it may be time to quit making excuses for your religion and wake up. "If you scrub your entire house and something still smells like @!$%# ... it's probably time to take a bath."
We are animals. We are primates. This is basic science, it isn't "controversial," and it has nothing to do with morality or ethics.
As unsettling as that may sound to you, big boys and girls don't get to just go around and make their own reality that suits their own personal beliefs. I wish I was a billionaire ... that sounds really pleasant to me. But, I think we both can wish in one hand and @!$%# in the other. Which one do you think will fill up fastest?
I've read the Bible Kay, it's why I'm writing to you now as an atheist.
P Nice.......thanks for the nomination.......I accept. Due to the fact that your sarcasm meter did not even budge on my post and you took me to mean all of that as if it's actually a believable worldview maybe next time you should submit a self nomination for the award. Thanks though!
Chad, is there some teaching of Jesus that you particularly disagree with? Wouldn't the world be a better place if we did as Jesus said? Then go and do what He said instead of looking at other people who claim to love Him and do the opposite. People from every world-view/religion/belief system/society have done terrible things. Why? Because they are people and people are not innately good. You came blame all the bad on religion, or secularism, on whatever you want, but it's our hearts that bring forth evil.
Chad, and what is it exactly that you hold dear?
kay - then I would suggest most of america is not GOD FEARING.
"again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven" - Matthew 19:24
I read they put a pool in their backyard this summer, that makes them rich by the worlds standards...so, they were already screwed from the get-go...I dont think GOD's gonna care they added suicide to the list.
of course, christians have made up stories about this "eye of a needle" being a physical entrance that never actually existed to justify lusting after personal wealth.
and christians accept that word of man as more valid than the word of GOD.
you're all doomed, hate to break it to you. no need to assume these folks werent GOD fearing when you arent either.
who do you believe, greedy man's story about the eye of the needle...or GOD's actual words?
better choose wisely...you're eternal salvation depends on it.
Jesus, as a man, was a rather beautiful creature. It's "Christians," who transpired to transform a message of love and tolerance into a message of religion and power that have made a mockery of their own faith.
Jesus, like Buddha and other worldly leaders of varying spiritual movements were classical men of pre-enlightenment pedigree. In most areas, they were well ahead of their time in notions of pure altruism and their understanding of the human condition.
These are the concepts we should be studying and relishing. How/why did these men "get it" so soon before their contemplatives?
Where would we be now if early messages of wisdom and light weren't so corrupted by our own illusions of grandeur?
Your religion took a pure concept and conspired to put your terrestrial mortality at the center. As such, your Christian brethren carry a corrupt banner that couldn't be further from the place your Christ envisioned.
Please refrain form straw man arguments as you know very well I've never made such an inelegant claim.
Chad, I agree that organized religion has made a wide scale mockery of moral principle through it's abuse of power through greed and extortion, but the principles of Jesus still stand. What's prohibiting you from following His teachings and showing the hypocritical Christians how to live with love?
lee - what makes you think Chad isnt following Jesus' teachings?
he need not become a christian to take Jesus' good message to heart and live it out daily.
though, i can understand why a christian couldnt grasp that concept.
he's not worshipping GOD, he's just being a good person day in and day out.
I never said "I didn't" follow Jesus' precepts in one form or another. I follow a lot of leadership messaging that I find unique and beautiful. I've discovered inspiration and motivation through various scriptures of various religions ... that's the whole point. Wide experience and open education enriches the soul.
As I said earlier, the trap ... the problem, is to fall into the pit of our own illusions of grandeur and to propagate the obscene notion that "everything is about us and our salvation."
This isn't for a thinking person to believe, let alone espouse.
In a weird way, they were being God-like...didn't God kill the first born of Egypt? I seem to have read that in the Bible, and now they've taken lives of children.
Also, anyone who needs a book to teach them morals or values to live by must have had terrible parents.
Chad, thank you for your honesty in the matter. We come to a crossroads where Jesus was either who He claimed to be, or He was insane. I side with the former as he hit the nail on the head in His ability to correlate the truth with reality. Jesus made many claims to truth about the hearts of men, about motivations of people, about morality that absolutely correlate with what we see and experience. I find Him to be trustworthy. That's all good and swell if He only made some subjective claims, as any man can do that and be correct, and even if He wasn't correct because there is no objective verification for a subjective claim. But Jesus made objective claims and performed objective feats that were miraculous as even secular scholars documented. Finally, He raised Himself from the dead, an account that over 500 people witnessed according to Paul who was there. Paul also went from a persecutor of early Christians to the main proponent behind the expansion of Christianity. There are many things which clue me in to the belief that Jesus was something different, that he was who He said He was, and He said that He was the One way to God. So, either He was who He said He was, or He was some crazy dude hippie type that preached love and did some pretty cool magic tricks. I'm not some condescending Christian jerk who claims everyone is bad but me. I know I'm a bad sinner, but I also know that that fact is why I desperately need Jesus. He said "no man comes to the Father, but by me."
Lee
I think you need to realize you're positioning Jesus' reflection on scripture (and your consolidated faith) with a bit more of a contemporary brush than is warranted. The vast majority of sophisticated scholars agree (and admit) that the majority of what "we know" about Christ came much later after his death and was written by followers of his followers. To attribute everything Jesus supposedly claimed as fact, would be to ignore simple, chronological facts and time-frames. But I agree. I too, believe that Jesus was far from an average man.
In relation to your point about Jesus' "miracles" and revelations, I think neuroscientist and author Sam Harris raises a good point for contemplative comparison:
oh chad, do we really need to hear your logic, reason-based arguments? it's exhausting to have reality shoved down our throats. what's wrong with being content to see life as a collection of fairy tales where everything works out in the end and we all live happily ever after? but as an atheist you had to come along and spoil the charade. thanks a lot.
No, you HOPE they were, you BELIEVE they were, but stating you KNOW they were punished is a lie.
"Does this crap happen in other countries like it does here? "
Sadly, it does happen in other places. Also these acts of like crime are written in the Bible, of times to come, it's not the will of God, but his understanding of man. These aren't punishments, there Godless acts of evil. Conscience, if I have the word right. They lack any moral judgement in what they do, void of feeling and reason, lost. It's sad, and is without logic, like many things man people do.
Um, yeah ... that's completely inaccurate.
There are myriads of examples where "god" not only condoned the killing of children, but actually prescribed it. Have you ever read the Bible? Just a small sample:
Guys, this has nothing to do w/religion...these people were sick...no one does this and is sane...so enough of the preaching...whatever god you worship, or don't worship, it's a terriblel thing, and should NEVER have happened.
Wow. Feel like I stumbled into a religious chat room. Topic is Granny snuffed her own Grandchildren. Didn't want them to go back living with their brother. He must be one heck of a monster.
Considering that grandma spawned him, I would tend to agree, though the one who killed them was grandma.
{shakes head}
I love when people comment about a story and complain that people go off topic as though this board is part of the internal investigation or soemthing. News flash, when someone makes a comment, then someone replies, and so on and so forth, there are myriads of directions these discussion can (and often do) go.
That's why people come here to engage in, and share ideas and viewpoints (even if they conflict with your own.)
Yes, we could all post ad nauseum:
"Thoughts and condolences ... what a tragedy."
However, surely we can also approach this subject knowing that this goes without saying, no?
Chad:
I think you need to read just a little bit further - God only asked Abraham to do what he himself would do - sacrafice his only so...so I wouldn't cherry pick to try and justify an untenable position. The fact is that you or I or anyone was not alive when Jesus was - you can't say he did not do or say what he did...maybe that is what they mean by "faith"? Hmmmm
I never said we could. That's what religions do. "We DO know this, we DO know that"
See the difference?
Eeeekk, just reading this gives me the willies!
The fact that people can believe this and defend their interpretations of this creator is absolutely abhorrent. "So this guy is the all-knowing, all-perfect, loving creator of the universe .... he just rather likes a good human sacrifice or two ... cut the guy some slack, would ya!"
Yikes.
Chad-1841583, I wish you much luck. I come here to get the willies and break my daily routine. lol
Someone said this terrible crime has nothing to do with religion but he/she is so wrong. The fact is, if we insist on believing there is another life awaiting us; as religion states, then we will have little respect for this one. As a result, we have crimes like this because "they have gone to a better place". Like you, I am sure this was a religious family.
I leave you with this:
The difference between faith and insanity is that faith is the ability to hold firmly to a conclusion that is incompatible with the evidence whereas insanity is the ability to hold firmly to a conclusion that is incompatible with the evidence.
~William Harwood
That was the ultimate in selfish and I can't understand how 2 adults could decide this together. It boggles the mid that they decided to kill the grandkids because they "loved" them. Losing the grandmother and uncle is no tragedy but the kids' deaths are heartbreaking.
Same argument pro-choice answer when bringing up the option of adoption. <--- Seed, this story = plant.
Society in general is breeding these nuts from seeds to plants.
The human species is rapidly declining. We are so incredibly flawed - I don't know if they lot of us can be repaired.
My heart goes out to these innocent children. It's always the innocents (children and animals) who pay the price for most of human stupidity.
Read "The Better Angels of our Nature" to see thought-provoking, qualitative analysis of why it's actually the exact opposite. We are becoming a better, more peaceful human society as a whole. It's just that tragic stories like these come along and show us we still have a ways to go.
Meh, a 24 hour news cycle brings us news that has always been going on just not reported on a wide scale.
I'm waiting to hear if there is a religious angle to this. Was the grandmother a devout controlling whacko who reasoned they are all going to a "better" place? Was the resident uncle a problem? They weren't living in squalor and filth or anything like that. Tragic. I can't imagine the grandfather and mother dealing with this.
Gee Mike, perhaps granny was a hard-core controlling atheist who felt no matter what she has done, she'll never have to pay for it after she's dead. Ever think of that, huh?
Spybear - and it's entirely possible she was right.
kinda makes you mad to think she did this and isnt paying for it, and those kids just dont go anywhere but "POOF" out of existence.
much easier to sleep at night believing she's burning in hell and those children are angels in heaven now.
doesnt make it true, but you dont have to worry so much...so much easier on YOU.
You wish Spybear. Much more often we read of murder, mayhem, and slaughter in the name of God, heaven, and casting out demons. I have yet to read of a murder or assault in the name of Atheism.
jessica - that really comforts you huh? billions of people dating back to the begin of human history all burning for eternity in a magical land of permanent torture? wow. better just to feel bad for the innocent kids and move on.
Sigh, people use religion as a cover for their actions.
Also don't forget Andrea Yates drowned her 5 kids because she thought there was some evil developing in them so killing them would save them from hell. She was not an athiest.
My condolences to the parents of the children, may the children rest in peace.
My feelings exactly - very well said RIposter.
How selfish is the grandma and uncle that they would kill them all. They are the unfit ones. It sounds like the grandma shouldnt have had the kids to begin with if she was willing to kill them all. My heart goes out to the parents of the children. How horrible to loose one let alone three of your children
Seems as though they thought if they could not have the kids, then no one could.
Some people are just to rigid and stiff necked for their own good or others.
I have seen this attitude before where the grandparent forgets his or her role. As a grandparent, I try to remember that I am not the kids' parent. I am there to help but not take over. One of my grandchildren has another set of grandparents who call literally twelve times a day and are there every day. Insist they know better on pretty much everything. It is not a help either to the parents' marriage.
Wonder if Granny was on anti-depressants?
No, just antacids; she had gas...
DEVASTATING story!! As a Proud Mom of 6...I would be just beside myself in grief if my own wicked Mother did this to my children, but then again I wouldn't have not had my kids for 3 yrs. There is probably more to the story as to why they stayed there at Grandma's too long, she became obsessed w/the kids. But odd that her son wanted to die as well, I think the fam probably had severe financial issues to do something so drastic and to wipe out a family like that. I hope the kids didn't feel any pain or experience the fear of sitting in a dark garage smelling fumes. So sad! What is the human race coming to ? I can't beleive all the stories of hurt, abuse, neglected kids, kids in cages ??? I mean Social Services dept need to really STEP IT UP and be more aware of all the ABUSE that is escalating and HELP innocent children. Rest in peace kiddos!
Their names were Sandy, Randy, Andy and Mandy? This spelled trouble from the beginning. Crazies. Sad they had to involve the innocent kids in their psychotic behavior.
Good call, dingo. I actually posted the same thing; hadn't seen yours first.
These people surly could have found a better way to handle this situation. Cowards for killing the kids.
Unreal. Truly
Yep, all about the best things for the kids. Lovely people... granny.
Sad as it is - and it is, all I can think is why would a mother named Sandy, and a father named Randy, name their kids Andy and Mandy. What screwballs. I'm guessing it was the mother who married a poor guy just because his name was Randy. It rhymed with hers.
There was more than one screw loose in that family. Question: why did the school allow the grandmother to pick up the kids during the school day? I hope granny enjoys her eternity in hell.
These kinds of family problems can be solved with two little words: "Military school!"
The height of evil and selfishness. No excuses/reasons/justifications for this kind of wickedness.
Ah White people killing and raping kids! WHo here is really Suprised? You saltines keep killing yourselves off and I will continue to celebrate at arbys. I am getting fat off those celebrations if you are curious. HEHEHEHEHEHEHEEEEEEEEEE!
So you're fat and happy.
Good for you.
Ick.
I recommend the roast beef.
Oh so sad. Sounds like the 9 year old (disruptive?) needed some professional help. Why have the others live someplace else so the 9 year old can have what he wants? Please define 'disruptive'.
I don't even know why I read the news anymore. So many messed up people in the world taking the lives of innocent children.
Ask Obama--he will say it Bush's fault.
Guess they don't have to worry about who's going to watch the kids now... I don't know if the world is any more screwed up than it was 30 years ago, or if the immediacy of reporting (using the term loosely) just makes it seem like it is.
Why the children? They are innocent beings ,they don't feel hate or vengeance,or selfishness like adults do.Sometimes you cant help feeling that this world is an evil place, and it gets worse every year.I feel there is no point in expressing any kind of reasoning for this evil act.It was done by selfish despicable human trash, there is no word to describe it.Its over.BUT WHY THE CHILDREN.?
It makes me sick, actually sick to hear about stuff like this, I can't imagine it. I can imagine suicide but not the lives of kids.
