Wild turkeys seem to know that Thanksgiving is right around the corner and they are fighting back in Connecticut.
Marcos Carreras, or rather his car, has been the victim of wild turkeys not once but twice.
Carreras, of Farmington, Conn., was on his way to work at Kingswood Oxford School on Wednesday morning when one menacing turkey he refers to as "Frankenturkey" went after one car, then came right up to his driver's side window and actually pecked the door.
The fowl encounter happened between Old Mountain Road and Talcott Notch and Frankenturkey attacked on Halloween as well, Carreras said.

According to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, there are an estimated 35,000 wild turkeys in all 169 towns in the state.
It is unusual for turkeys to be aggressive, especially in the fall, said Michael Gregonis, a wildlife biologist with DEEP.
It is possible that this turkey was accustomed to humans because people had been feeding it.
Gregonis recommends that people avoid feeding turkeys. There is enough food in the woodlands for them to eat, he said.
You have to watch the video to see just how brazen the turkey is. Carreras' commentary and sound effects also make watching well worth your time.

I think it is only fair that turkeys be able to go on the offensive and start attacking humans. Given that we humans have a history of committing fowl deeds by eating their kind for generations.Benjamin Franklin tried to make this species our nation's symbol instead of the bald eagle, because he thought they were a noble and intelligent.
Had Franklin succeeded, I guess I'd be hunting bald eagles for Thanksgiving dinner, instead of the wild turkeys in the spring. I can't really imagine a Butterball Bald Eagle, or for vegans, a tofeagle.
Good one, Charley!
Given the state of current affairs in this country, Ben Franklin would have been right having the turkey our national symbol. Just look at all the turkeys we have in public office.
Turkeys are also distinctly North American, whereas eagles are everywhere. I think part of the decision to go with eagles was to keep our republic's model consistent with the Roman Republic of ancient days. We also got our idea of a Senate from them and copied their use of Roman fasces too. Fasces? Look it up and learn. There are 2 huge fasces representations carved into the wall behind the Speaker of the House's seat in the House of Representatives. A real set is also carried in front of him for certain ceremonies/occasions. In Rome they were carried in front of officials who had the power of sentencing people to be physically beaten or executed. Ain't American history grand?
If Benjamin Franklin thouhgt turkey were noble and intelligent then he wasn't payring very close attention in biology class. Turkeys are one of the dumbest animals on the planet. Some chicks drown when it rains because they look up and are too stupid to know that if they want to breath then they need to stop.
I'm guessing Ben Franklin never saw turkeys in a rain storm?
Wild turkeys are precious. Love watching them. Very intelligent birds. Prefer them to a lot of people I know.
Wild turkeys are just as or even more aggressive here in SE KY.Seen a small flock going up the middle of Groundhog Hollow road this morning, running off the neighbor's dogs that are running loose.I'd get 1 except it ain't turkey season yet.
The story of Turkey's drowning in the rain is absurd and not true.
They are very intelligent beings, and they do not deserve to be mass produced and slaughtered so humans can eat them the third week of November.
As a species we are numb to killing, whether it be animals or even other humans. Look at the top selling video games..they are all about war.
We are a sad little species, too busy idolizing ourselves to see the forrest for the trees.
Intelligent, yes. Nobel? no. They are mean, brazen, and aggressive birds. Wild turkeys are like a gang of upper middle class teens with nothing better to do so they terrorize people in their area, vandalizing cars just for the hell of it, and squawking at people when unprovoked because they think its funny. They should take a lesson from pigeons. Play it cool and act like people when you walk down the street as if you've got place to be and important business to attend to. That way ppl throw you bread crumbs every once in awhile and don't eat you with cranberry sauce.
Rose, it only works for pigeons because they don't have much meat for all the plucking and gutting you have to do to eat them.
I'm going to go out on a limb here, but, I am thinking that the big 'Honeysuckle White' that I have ordered for next week is going to fight less and taste better than even a bottle of 'Wild Turkey'.
Ya gotta love defiance in the face of certain death. Well played Tom (turkey), well-played.
You can always count on a Texan to be the first and the last to side with someone (or something) standing their ground. I'm from the Northeast, but I admire the hell out of you guys.
I can just see the turkey now, giving the hunter the middle feather. A bird giving the bird, hmmm?
I think it's about time the animals we abuse start fighting back.
That turkey is in a fowl mood.
LMFAO! After watching Romney bitch and moan AGAIN about losing, I needed that laugh!! XD
Looks like a fairly young tom turkey is the star and the supporting cast is a bachelor group of turkeys. Given his focus on the tires of the cars, it is probably a case of mistaken identity (note the round black ring created by a turkey's feathers when they are displaying). In the time honored tradition of teenage males of all species he is showing off for his buddies and reveling in his machismo. Carreras' gobbling back at him is probably what resulted in increased attention for his car. After all, if you think the tire might be a turkey and then it gobbles at you - well then your suspicions are confirmed.
All we need is for the group of "bachelors" to whip out some switchblades, start snapping their wing feathers and advance in choreographed unison on more unsuspecting cars!
Actually, it is a territorial thing with them being the "Sharks" to the cars' "Jets".
Where's Officer Krupke when you need him?
Awesome mental picture, thank you Kris!
On the first day of turkey season, I went out and shot a turkey. I was startled when I got it on the first shot. It really upset the other folks in Wal-mart's meat and poultry section, too.
@ zapper: ha. heard that one already. several times, in fact.
You gotta have some fun.
Go poop somewhere else.

This is such a stupid story. There are wild turkeys every where and they walk and stand in the road everywhere.
Turkeys are the dumbest bird on the block. They will stand in a rain storm and put their heads up in the rain until they drown. So walking right in front of a car is no sign from a God that they are "fighting" back.
So a few birds who have a habitat and are crossing the road every day next to the habitat is of no big deal.
Slightly grouchy Steven?
I have never seen a wild turkey so they are not everywhere.. I think it's a pretty bird.. I thought the video was great because the guy was being decent to the bird and the bird was arguing back and standing his ground (ughh, can't believe I said that)..
It's time to talk turkey with these birds...:-)
It's called humor, son.
Next episode of "caught on video" When food attacks!
I think the Turkey has more brains than the idiot taking the video
Wiffle Ball Bat. Then Brine. Then Oven/deep fryer/Smoker, your choice.
(Just kidding, I do not condone poaching) Stick with Butterball, they taste much better than wild turkey.
" When Turkeys Attack" can be seen this Sunday on the SCFI network.
PS: Gobble.

"IT LIVES!....ITS ALIVE! ITS ALIVE! I'VE DONE IT! I'VE GIVEN THIS TURKEY NEW LIFE! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS I-GOR? DO YOU REALIZE WHAT THIS MEANS!? IT MEANS..IT MEANS..FRESH LEFTOVERS FOR CHRISTMAS!
Hey, this has nothing to do with anything. I sent a note to the Olive Garden complaint department a week or so ago. I don't like Olive Garden, but my old mom likes to go there so I take her a couple times a month. Anyhow, it always bugs me that they seat old people, fat people, not quite dressed correctly people, black people.... in the back empty rooms near the kitchen doors and where the help sits around to complain about Olive Garden and the customers. So, anyhow, my mom has type 1 and is a thyroid cancer survivor. She has a weight problem and at 78 years old its not going to change. She used to be skinny before all her surgery. Anyhow, I thought their seating practices were out of line, and something happened the last visit that kind of upset me. Olive Garden apologized and said they would contact me within 3 days. I have heard nothing, so now I am wondering if anyone else may have noticed this or if I am just wrong. Thank you.
I had something similar happen to me. I went out to eat with one of my buddies and they sat us in a back room near the kitchen where there weren't any other people. We mentioned something and they said that the other sections were full and we were just the first ones in that section. There were clearly other tables available and the man who seated us seemed condescending.
Our service was very slow. The waiter said it was just because they were busy but we could hear him through the kitchen door chatting it up with the other staff, not really doing anything. So I asked to speak to the manager. When I expressed that I was concerned with the way we were being treated, especially my friend, he tried to blow us off. My buddy was trying to cool things down, but I had enough and said we were leaving. The manager laid our bill for what we ordered to that point on the table. I picked it up tried to hand it back. He slapped it out of my hand. HARD. And that's when I realized....he was up to no good, started making trouble in my neighborhood, I got in one little fight and my mom got scared, she said "you're moving with your Auntie and Uncle in Bel-Air", I whistled for the cab and when it came near, the license plate said "Fresh" and it had dice in the mirror, if anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought "Nah, forget. yo holmes, to Bel-Air!", I pulled up to the house around 7 or 8 and yelled to the cabbie "yo, holmes, smell ya later!", looked at my kingdom, I was finally there to sit on my throne as the prince of bel-air.
ok, so I suppose I was wrong. But we won't be going back again.
this happened to me and my sister one time. dont remember the name of the resturant. We got up and moved to another section. I did complain as it did make me very uncomfortable.
The turkey pecked on the door? Maybe it wanted a ride!
California has probably now outpaced the whole East Coast for the number of Wild Turkeys in the state. Growing up hunting I rarely saw one, so I beginning to think its a East Coast conspiracy that they've been shipping them to the state, along with their homeless, and they have now all gotten out of hand. They are everywhere now.
I had a wild turkey show up at my house several years ago. I think someone down the road was raising them and turning them loose. He stayed in my yard for several days. In that time i learned a lot about turkeys. They are great birds but not very bright, every morning he would see his reflection in my car window and attack it. When I would drive away he would try and chase the car. Open and shake a brown plastic trash bag had the same effect. Since then I've cut way back on turkey products and feel sorry for the millions of them that lose their life for Thanksgiving.....
Maybe the turkey thought he was a Republican political puppet?
That has to be the dumbest comment ever. Not only did you manage to inject politics into something not even remotely related to politics, but you managed to do it without being witty, clever, or even using a silly pun. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Next Thursday should solve the problem nicely...
Maybe this bird had a little more than he could handle of that bourbon that bears it's name!!!
The turkey is most likely attempting to “fight” the “other” turkey it sees in the reflection of the autos shiny exterior. It isn’t attacking the car itself, but what it thinks is another turkey attempting to confront itself. I once saw this similar response from a peacock while driving in a rural area. The peacock kept pecking at the shiny bumper on a vehicle that it obviously thought was trying to start something. Funny critters, birds. ;-)
I seen a peacock do the same thing while i was at the zoo. he kept running back and forth pecking at the bumper of one of those zoo vehicles. Funny.
It's a friggin' turkey people! They make it sound like it's a grizzly bear!
More of how we need the government to protect us, now from @!$%#ing turkeys!
Bald Eagle tastes like a cross between blue herron and condor.
