MIAMI -- A man was arrested for cutting almost all of his girlfriend's nose off after she refused to have sex with him, Fort Lauderdale Police said.
Ricardo Salamanca, from Plantation, faces a charge of aggravated battery causing bodily harm and remained in jail in lieu of $75,000 bail on Wednesday. It wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.
On Oct. 28, the victim was taken to North Broward Hospital for surgery to have her nose reattached.

"The victim's nose was severed down to the sinus cavity where the victim's nose was only attached by a thread," the complaint affidavit said.
The woman identified Salamanca as the person who did this to her, authorities said.
She said that she had been in a relationship with him, and they lived together, the report said. That night, she had seen him at a Plantation nightclub but went home alone, the affidavit said.
Later, he knocked on the door and she let him in, but he started yelling when she would not have sexual intercourse with him, and he threw her down, trying to place her in a chokehold, the affidavit said.
She told authorities that he couldn't place her in a chokehold and she ran to the front door, according to the affidavit. She remembered being thrown across the room, and then saw that she was bleeding from her face, authorities said.
"That's what you deserve, b****," the affidavit quoted the defendant as saying.
Salamanca left, and she drove herself to the hospital, the report said.
She told authorities that she had been a victim of domestic violence from Salamanca in the past.

No matter how the justice system works to make the penalties for domestic violence more severe, this will never stop until women stand up for themselves and refuse to stay in relationships with men who batter them. After the first incident, any woman who stays with a man or goes back to him, the woman should face a penalty as well. That penalty should be criminal charges with the punishment being mandatory mental health counseling completely paid for by the state. You can't help women if they won't help themselves. If you don't make them get help, they will raise their daughters to be battered women. So put the bast***s in jail and get the women to shrinks.
Another good case for why people should own guns. Granted, the nose-cutting happened very quickly and he left, but she could have put a stop to it before it got to that point. I'm sure he harassed her for a few minutes at least before he tried the choke-hold. When she was feeling unsafe she could have eased her way to a pistol and pulled it on him, telling him to leave. If at that point he tried to choke or stab her, she could have put a permanent end to her problem. Scum like that don't deserve another chance, if someone is going to cut someone's nose off for not banging them, there is something seriously wrong with them.
The 75k bail is a joke---begin by firing the judge for stupidity. It's time to change from a Criminal Justice System to a Criminal Punishment System, emphasis on PUNISHMENT. And a move to Hammurabi Law: What you do to others will be done to you (an eye for an eye). In this case, he permanently disfigured someone's face, so disfigure him by cutting off his nose, and for punishment, his penis as well. Then put him in prison with the general population who would undoubtedly take a liking to the eunich. He demanded sex, right?! And if he is an illegal, he is deported upon any eventual release from prison.
He should be castrated with a spoon, skinned alive, rolled in rock salt and thrown to the coyotes.
What do you have against coyotes?
For heaven's sake, people, if someone commits domestic violence against you, DO NOT GO BACK!

If he beat her before why was she still with him? I have been telling women for 30 years that men who beat women don't change. It only a matter of time and space before their next beating. Leave the first time, get a police report, insist on one. make copies, attach any photos you have of the offender and the injuries. Then make sure that you leave copies to with family members and people that you can trust to go to the police if you are murdered. Most importantly never, every go back or give them a second chance no matter how good the talk or sex was! Stop being fools for a pretty face, sweet words, and good sex! Am I missing something? Did he actually cut her nose off or did that happen when he threw her across the room? Either way, he's a POS but as usual, MSN is not very good at matching the headline to the story. And I'm from FL and we just seem to get more of the spotlight than the other states but we're not the craziest by far. ;)
