MIAMI -- A man was arrested for cutting almost all of his girlfriend's nose off after she refused to have sex with him, Fort Lauderdale Police said.
Ricardo Salamanca, from Plantation, faces a charge of aggravated battery causing bodily harm and remained in jail in lieu of $75,000 bail on Wednesday. It wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.
On Oct. 28, the victim was taken to North Broward Hospital for surgery to have her nose reattached.

"The victim's nose was severed down to the sinus cavity where the victim's nose was only attached by a thread," the complaint affidavit said.
The woman identified Salamanca as the person who did this to her, authorities said.
She said that she had been in a relationship with him, and they lived together, the report said. That night, she had seen him at a Plantation nightclub but went home alone, the affidavit said.
Later, he knocked on the door and she let him in, but he started yelling when she would not have sexual intercourse with him, and he threw her down, trying to place her in a chokehold, the affidavit said.
She told authorities that he couldn't place her in a chokehold and she ran to the front door, according to the affidavit. She remembered being thrown across the room, and then saw that she was bleeding from her face, authorities said.
"That's what you deserve, b****," the affidavit quoted the defendant as saying.
Salamanca left, and she drove herself to the hospital, the report said.
She told authorities that she had been a victim of domestic violence from Salamanca in the past.

Tell me why when they are abused they still stay with the jerk? And don't tell me it is because they have no place to go.
Some people are willing to sacrifice everything hoping to find love.--and not ever having known it growing up, they don't realize that they deserve to be treated better. I'm not saying its right, or smart, or realistic. When we know better-we do better.
Some people love the drama. I have heard women say that the man that beats them BECAUSE he loves them so much.
Not for me, but they choose to stay. There are women's centers, shelters, free therapy, financial help, phones, transportatoin, educatoin, even an underground railroad... but some choose to stay and play the victim... negative attention but, attention. How very sad.

This whole sad tale stinks of alcoholism and co-dependency. I suspect she let him in the house because he was blotto and she probably refused to sleep with him also because he was blotto (and therefore repulsive). Its a terrible tragedy, no matter what the circumstances. I think the best punishment would be to let this guy go through his detox without medication and then force him to face what he did before he goes to prison. Alcohol is the worst thing ever. Legalize pot (which doesn't make people anything but lazy and hungry) and regulate alcohol. Maybe require a permit to buy it and revoke that permit when that person commits a crime such as drunk driving or a heinous crime such as this? -Just a thought. I'm sure one of you can come up with a better solution or a thousand reasons why my idea wouldn't work. Too bad we can't all embrace healthier lifestyles.
When lots of people come from another country and refuse to blend into the US culture, they bring their "old" culture with them. It is only what they know if the refuse to learn the new US culture of how we expect to treat women. So, we will see more of this. Just look at strong "Macho" countries and you will see similar behavior.
You ever read about the wild west in America....before we had laws in place? Women were dirt in America up until the 20th century. It's sick to use this tragedy to make a nutty anti Hispanic comment.
Hope she had a good plastic surgeon do the stitching. There are allot of these bozos walking the face of the earth and should either be in a mental hospital or in jail. There are allot of women who know they are in an abusive relationship and cannot or won't get out. These women should consider again their alternatives. Disfigurement or death is not worth any man. I would bet that she is probaly a good looking woman with above average education and working.

them. Women are most often killed whenthey try to leave. The police seldom
make arrests and judges will take the children from their mother if she alleges
domestic violence claiming it is parental alienation. The legal system does not keep women safe.
The consequences of illegal immigration. Now we can't even deport people like this. Enjoy, America! You voted to make people like this defacto citizens that you support with your tax dollars.

Probably won't serve enough time in jail. A total lowlife.

Ahhh Foreigners and their Culture brought to our land. This guy should not be released on Bond. If he is released and does more harm to that woman then the judge who releases him should be thrown in prison. I think he should be sent to North Korea to be dealt with. That is what we should do with all our nut jobs like this guy, outsource them to North Korea for punishment.
There are some middle Eastern countries where what he did would basically have been legal he should have moved there. That being said child molesters are NOT the only criminals hated by even the other inmates in prison. Many criminals are not actually horrilble people. Maybe they sold illegal drugs or wrote bad checks or stole a few cars etc. This guy would be just as much of a monster to them as he is to us "regular" people and I hope he is treated terribly by the other inmates. I also think that in addition to Megan's Law there should be a VIOLENT offender registry where extremely violent people have to register.
I have a suggestion......just cut his dick off and let him bleed to death.

There are many safe houses out there for victims of domestic violence. With the help we women can get, I can't understand why they keep going back to their abusers. I was a victim of domestic abuse and I left him, called the police and never looked back. Even if you have children, please do not stay. They will not stop at abusing you, they will start to attack them too. If they see this violence towards you, you are allowing them to be victims also if you stay. Absolutely NO child should have to witness this obscenity of one parent hurting another.
I hear a lot of squawking about how the judicial system favors women over men in domestic disputes. Some of the time, it's even true.
Know why? Because we need watertight laws to protect women against wicked, selfish men like Salamanca!!
