Look it up on the NY state, secretary of state's web site. They keep a record of all professional licenses' in the state. I know it's like that in GA, I think every state has it.

With bail at one million dollars, it wasn't anything under his kitchen sink that he'd being 'pinched' for. More like a garage or basement full of stuff. And it was probably looked at in context.

There's really nothing wrong with having some guns in the house, legally, but what type and how you keep them says a lot to investigators. If you have a variety of different types and they're all locked in a vault and the other things the investigators see would lead them to believe that you're a longtime gun collector and/or recreational or competitive shooter, or even just an avid hunter, usually there's no problem. If what you've got is several automatic pistols and AR-15 and/or Kalashnikov type rifles that are all being kept loaded and possibly stashed in different locations around the house and there's no indication that you've done anything other than just acquire them recently, that looks mighty questionable. Especially when enough other things don't look good.

As far as the fertilizer goes, if I recall correctly, it has to contain a MINIMUM of 32% nitrogen in order to be used to formulate ammonium nitrate. That is an extremely high level of nitrogen, as five or ten percent is more common. The last time I saw any kind of fertilizer that was anything close to that available on a retailer's shelf, it was a one pound box of fertilizer for roses. If you're not a farmer and you've got bag after bag of high nitrogen fertilizer in your suburban home, you're going to have some explaining to do if the authorities find it. If you've got a few bags of 10-10-10 in the garage, no problem.

Look, we're talking context here. Imagine that you're a police officer examining a premises pursuant to a search warrant, and you're finding loaded guns all over the place. But you're not there for that. You're there because it's a drug bust or something else, like someone who was reported to have said he was going to build a bomb and has a bunch of explosives precursors in the house. If the house is set up like a fortress in that instance, would it not indicate that whoever lived there was getting ready for a shootout?

If keeping guns around the house is ALL you're doing, the police probably aren't going to come knocking on your door with a search warrant, are they? If you're involved in ongoing criminal activity and have been under surveillance for awhile, having an unusual amount of firearms handy and not kept in a responsible manner just isn't going to make you look very good.

You've got to look at this in the big picture of things. Detectives do!
